किमुत्तरं तदा तौ स्म चक्रतुस्तेन भाषिते। ब्राह्मणो वाथ वा राजा तन्मे ब्रूहि पितामह ॥१२-१९३-१॥
kimuttaraṃ tadā tau sma cakratustena bhāṣite. brāhmaṇo vātha vā rājā tanme brūhi pitāmaha ॥12-193-1॥
[किम् (kim) - what; उत्तरम् (uttaram) - answer; तदा (tadā) - then; तौ (tau) - those two; स्म (sma) - indeed; चक्रतुः (cakratuḥ) - did; तेन (tena) - by him; भाषिते (bhāṣite) - having been spoken; ब्राह्मणः (brāhmaṇaḥ) - the Brāhmaṇa; वा (vā) - or; अथ (atha) - or; वा (vā) - or; राजा (rājā) - the king; तत् (tat) - that; मे (me) - to me; ब्रूहि (brūhi) - tell; पितामह (pitāmaha) - O grandsire;]
(What answer then did those two indeed make when that was spoken by him? The Brāhmaṇa or the king—tell that to me, O grandsire.)

अथ वा तौ गतौ तत्र यदेतत्कीर्तितं त्वया। संवादो वा तयोः कोऽभूत्किं वा तौ तत्र चक्रतुः ॥१२-१९३-२॥
atha vā tau gatau tatra yad etat kīrtitaṃ tvayā। saṃvādo vā tayoḥ ko'bhūt kiṃ vā tau tatra cakratuḥ॥12-193-2॥

तथेत्येवं प्रतिश्रुत्य धर्मं सम्पूज्य चाभिभो। यमं कालं च मृत्युं च स्वर्गं सम्पूज्य चार्हतः ॥१२-१९३-३॥
tathetyevaṃ pratiśrutya dharmaṃ sampūjya cābhibho। yamaṃ kālaṃ ca mṛtyuṃ ca svargaṃ sampūjya cārhataḥ ॥12-193-3॥
[तथा (tathā) - thus; इति (iti) - so; एवं (evaṃ) - in this way; प्रतिश्रुत्य (pratiśrutya) - having promised; धर्मं (dharmaṃ) - dharma; सम्पूज्य (sampūjya) - having worshipped; च (ca) - and; अभिभो (abhibho) - O lord; यमं (yamaṃ) - Yama; कालं (kālaṃ) - Time; च (ca) - and; मृत्यं (mṛtyuṃ) - Death; च (ca) - and; स्वर्गं (svargaṃ) - heaven; सम्पूज्य (sampūjya) - having worshipped; च (ca) - and; अर्हतः (arhataḥ) - the worthy ones;]
(Thus, so, in this way, having promised, dharma, having worshipped, and, O lord, Yama, Time, and, Death, and, heaven, having worshipped, and, the worthy ones.)

पूर्वं ये चापरे तत्र समेता ब्राह्मणर्षभाः। सर्वान्सम्पूज्य शिरसा राजानं सोऽब्रवीद्वचः ॥१२-१९३-४॥
pūrvaṃ ye cāpare tatra sametā brāhmaṇaṛṣabhāḥ। sarvān sampūjya śirasā rājānaṃ so'bravīd vacaḥ ॥12-193-4॥
[पूर्वं (pūrvaṃ) - formerly; ये (ye) - who; च (ca) - and; अपरे (apare) - others; तत्र (tatra) - there; समेता (sametāḥ) - assembled; ब्राह्मणर्षभाः (brāhmaṇaṛṣabhāḥ) - the foremost among Brāhmaṇas; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; सम्पूज्य (sampūjya) - having honored; शिरसा (śirasā) - with (his) head; राजानम् (rājānam) - the king; सः (saḥ) - he; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - spoke; वचः (vacaḥ) - words;]
(Formerly, those and other foremost among Brāhmaṇas assembled there; having honored all with (his) head, he spoke words to the king.)
In earlier times, those and other eminent Brāhmaṇas who had gathered there, after respectfully greeting everyone with bowed head, addressed the king with these words.
फलेनानेन संयुक्तो राजर्षे गच्छ पुण्यताम्। भवता चाभ्यनुज्ञातो जपेयं भूय एव हि ॥१२-१९३-५॥
phalena anena saṁyukto rājarṣe gaccha puṇyatām। bhavatā ca abhyanujñātaḥ japeyam bhūya eva hi ॥12-193-5॥
[फलेन (phalena) - by the fruit; of the result; अनेन (anena) - by this; with this; संयुक्तः (saṁyuktaḥ) - joined; united; राजर्षे (rājarṣe) - O royal sage; गच्छ (gaccha) - go; attain; पुण्यताम् (puṇyatām) - state of merit; holiness; भवता (bhavatā) - by you; च (ca) - and; अभ्यनुज्ञातः (abhyanujñātaḥ) - permitted; authorized; जपेयम् (japeyam) - I may recite; I should repeat; भूयः (bhūyaḥ) - again; further; एव (eva) - indeed; surely; हि (hi) - for; because;]
(By this fruit being united, O royal sage, go to the state of merit. And being permitted by you, I may recite again indeed for (this reason).)

वरश्च मम पूर्वं हि देव्या दत्तो महाबल। श्रद्धा ते जपतो नित्यं भवितेति विशां पते ॥१२-१९३-६॥
varaś ca mama pūrvaṃ hi devyā datto mahābala। śraddhā te japato nityaṃ bhaviteti viśāṃ pate ॥12-193-6॥

(And the boon, indeed, was previously given to me by the goddess, O mighty one. Faith will always be yours while reciting, thus, O lord of men.)
O lord of men, the goddess had previously granted me a boon, O mighty one: "Faith will always be yours as you recite."
राजोवाच॥

यद्येवमफला सिद्धिः श्रद्धा च जपितुं तव। गच्छ विप्र मया सार्धं जापकं फलमाप्नुहि ॥१२-१९३-७॥
yadyevamaphalā siddhiḥ śraddhā ca japituṃ tava। gaccha vipra mayā sārdhaṃ jāpakaṃ phalamāpnuhu ॥12-193-7॥
[यदि (yadi) - if; एवम् (evam) - thus; अफला (aphalā) - fruitless; सिद्धिः (siddhiḥ) - attainment; श्रद्धा (śraddhā) - faith; च (ca) - and; जपितुम् (japitum) - to recite; तव (tava) - your; गच्छ (gaccha) - go; विप्र (vipra) - brāhmaṇa; मया (mayā) - by me; सार्धम् (sārdham) - together; जापकं (jāpakam) - reciter; फलम् (phalam) - fruit; आप्नुहि (āpnuhu) - obtain;]
(If thus the attainment is fruitless, and faith to recite is yours, go, O brāhmaṇa, together with me, obtain the fruit of the reciter.)
If this is so, and the attainment is fruitless, and you have faith to recite, then go, O brāhmaṇa, together with me and obtain the fruit of the reciter.

कृतः प्रयत्नः सुमहान्सर्वेषां संनिधाविह। सह तुल्यफलौ चावां गच्छावो यत्र नौ गतिः ॥१२-१९३-८॥
kṛtaḥ prayatnaḥ sumahān sarveṣāṃ saṃnidhāv iha। saha tulyaphalau cāvāṃ gacchāvo yatra nau gatiḥ॥12-193-8॥
[कृतः (kṛtaḥ) - done; accomplished; प्रयत्नः (prayatnaḥ) - effort; exertion; सुमहान् (sumahān) - very great; exceedingly large; सर्वेषां (sarveṣāṃ) - of all; belonging to all; संनिधौ (saṃnidhau) - in the presence; in the proximity; इह (iha) - here; in this place; सह (saha) - together; with; तुल्यफलौ (tulyaphalau) - having equal results; of equal fruit; च (ca) - and; आवाम् (āvām) - we both; the two of us; गच्छावः (gacchāvaḥ) - let us go; we should go; यत्र (yatra) - where; in which place; नौ (nau) - for us; to us; गतिः (gatiḥ) - destination; goal;]
(Done effort very great of all in the presence here; together having equal results and we both let us go where for us destination.)
A very great effort has been made here in the presence of all; let us both, who have equal results, go together to where our destination lies.

व्यवसायं तयोस्तत्र विदित्वा त्रिदशेश्वरः। सह देवैरुपययौ लोकपालैस्तथैव च ॥१२-१९३-९॥
vyavasāyaṃ tayostatra viditvā tridaśeśvaraḥ। saha devairupayayau lokapālaistathaiva ca ॥12-193-9॥
[व्यवसायं (vyavasāyaṃ) - determination; intention; तयोः (tayoḥ) - of those two; तत्र (tatra) - there; विदित्वा (viditvā) - having known; त्रिदशेश्वरः (tridaśeśvaraḥ) - the lord of the gods; सह (saha) - together with; देवैः (devaiḥ) - with the gods; उपययौ (upayayau) - approached; लोकपालैः (lokapālaiḥ) - with the guardians of the worlds; तथैव (tathaiva) - in the same way; च (ca) - and;]

साध्या विश्वेऽथ मरुतो ज्योतींषि सुमहान्ति च। नद्यः शैलाः समुद्राश्च तीर्थानि विविधानि च ॥१२-१९३-१०॥
sādhyā viśve'tha maruto jyotīṃṣi sumahānti ca। nadyaḥ śailāḥ samudrāśca tīrthāni vividhāni ca ॥12-193-10॥

अथ तौ सहितौ राजन्नन्योन्येन विधानतः। विषयप्रतिसंहारमुभावेव प्रचक्रतुः ॥१२-१९३-१५॥

[तालुदेशम् (tāludeśam) - palate-region; अथ (atha) - then; उद्दाल्य (uddālya) - having raised; ब्राह्मणस्य (brāhmaṇasya) - of the Brāhmaṇa; महात्मनः (mahātmanaḥ) - of the great-souled; ज्योतिर्ज्वाला (jyotirjvālā) - flame of light; सुमहती (sumahatī) - very great; जगाम (jagāma) - went; त्रिदिवम् (tridivam) - to heaven; तदा (tadā) - then;]
(Having then raised (from) the palate-region of the great-souled Brāhmaṇa, a very great flame of light then went to heaven.)
Then, having arisen from the palate of the great-souled Brāhmaṇa, a very great flame of light ascended to heaven.
हाहाकारस्ततो दिक्षु सर्वासु सुमहानभूत्। तज्ज्योतिः स्तूयमानं स्म ब्रह्माणं प्राविशत्तदा ॥१२-१९३-२०॥
hāhākārastato dikṣu sarvāsu sumahānabhūt। tajjyotiḥ stūyamānaṃ sma brahmāṇaṃ prāviśattadā ॥12-193-20॥
[हाहाकारः (hāhākāraḥ) - loud wailing; ततः (tataḥ) - then; दिक्षु (dikṣu) - in the directions; सर्वासु (sarvāsu) - in all; सुमहान् (sumahān) - very great; अभूत् (abhūt) - arose; तत् (tat) - that; ज्योतिः (jyotiḥ) - light; स्तूयमानम् (stūyamānam) - being praised; स्म (sma) - indeed; ब्रह्माणम् (brahmāṇam) - Brahman; प्राविशत् (prāviśat) - entered; तदा (tadā) - then;]
(Loud wailing then in all directions very great arose. That light being praised indeed Brahman entered then.)
Then, a very great wailing arose in all directions. That light, being praised, then entered Brahman.
ततः स्वागतमित्याह तत्तेजः स पितामहः। प्रादेशमात्रं पुरुषं प्रत्युद्गम्य विशां पते ॥१२-१९३-२१॥
tataḥ svāgatam ity āha tat-tejaḥ sa pitāmahaḥ। prādeśa-mātraṃ puruṣaṃ pratyudgamya viśāṃ pate ॥12-193-21॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; स्वागतम् (svāgatam) - welcome; इति (iti) - thus; आह (āha) - said; तत् (tat) - that; तेजः (tejaḥ) - splendor; सः (saḥ) - he; पितामहः (pitāmahaḥ) - grandfather; प्रादेशमात्रम् (prādeśa-mātram) - of the measure of a span; पुरुषम् (puruṣam) - man; प्रत्युद्गम्य (pratyudgamya) - having gone forth to meet; विशाम् (viśām) - of the people; पते (pate) - O lord;]
(Then, he, the grandfather of that splendor, said "Welcome"; having gone forth to meet the man of the measure of a span, O lord of the people.)
Then, that radiant grandfather said "Welcome" and went forth to meet the man of a span's height, O lord of the people.
भूयश्चैवापरं प्राह वचनं मधुरं स्म सः। जापकैस्तुल्यफलता योगानां नात्र संशयः ॥१२-१९३-२२॥
bhūyaścaivāparaṃ prāha vacanaṃ madhuraṃ sma saḥ। jāpakais tulyaphalatā yogānāṃ nātra saṃśayaḥ॥12-193-22॥
[भूयः (bhūyaḥ) - again; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; अपरेम् (aparam) - another; प्राह (prāha) - said; वचनम् (vacanam) - speech; मधुरम् (madhuram) - sweet; स्म (sma) - indeed; सः (saḥ) - he; जापकैः (jāpakaiḥ) - by reciters; तुल्यफलता (tulyaphalatā) - equal fruit; योगानाम् (yogānām) - of yogas; न (na) - not; अत्र (atra) - here; संशयः (saṃśayaḥ) - doubt;]
(Again and indeed another (thing) he said, a sweet speech indeed. By the reciters, the fruit of yogas is equal; here there is no doubt.)
He again spoke another sweet statement: "For yogas, the fruit is equal to that of reciters; there is no doubt about this here."
योगस्य तावदेतेभ्यः फलं प्रत्यक्षदर्शनम्। जापकानां विशिष्टं तु प्रत्युत्थानं समाधिकम् ॥१२-१९३-२३॥
yogasya tāvadetebhyaḥ phalaṃ pratyakṣadarśanam। jāpakānāṃ viśiṣṭaṃ tu pratyutthānaṃ samādhikam ॥12-193-23॥
[योगस्य (yogasya) - of yoga; तावत् (tāvat) - so much; to that extent; एतेभ्यः (etebhyaḥ) - from these; फलं (phalaṃ) - fruit; result; प्रत्यक्षदर्शनम् (pratyakṣadarśanam) - direct perception; जापकानां (jāpakānāṃ) - of the chanters; विशिष्टं (viśiṣṭam) - special; distinguished; तु (tu) - but; प्रत्युत्थानं (pratyutthānam) - arising; elevation; समाधिकम् (samādhikam) - exceeding; surpassing;]
(Of yoga, so much from these, the fruit is direct perception. Of the chanters, however, the special arising is exceeding.)
The fruit of yoga, to this extent, is direct perception from these. But for the chanters, the special attainment is an elevation that surpasses even this.
उष्यतां मयि चेत्युक्त्वाचेतयत्स ततः पुनः। अथास्य प्रविवेशास्यं ब्राह्मणो विगतज्वरः ॥१२-१९३-२४॥
uṣyatāṃ mayi cetyuktvā cetayatsa tataḥ punaḥ। athāsya praviveśāsyaṃ brāhmaṇo vigatajvaraḥ ॥12-193-24॥
[उष्यताम् (uṣyatām) - let it be stayed; (imperative, passive, from √vas, to dwell) मयि (mayi) - in me; च (ca) - and; इति (iti) - thus; उक्त्वा (uktvā) - having said; अचेतयत् (acetayat) - he revived; (from √cit, to perceive, to revive) सः (saḥ) - he; ततः (tataḥ) - then; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; अथ (atha) - then; अस्य (asya) - his; प्रविवेश (praviveśa) - entered; (from pra-√viś, to enter) आस्यं (āsyaṃ) - mouth; ब्राह्मणः (brāhmaṇaḥ) - the Brāhmaṇa; विगतज्वरः (vigatajvaraḥ) - free from fever;]
(Let it be stayed in me—having thus said, he revived him again then. Then the Brāhmaṇa, free from fever, entered his mouth.)
Saying, "Let it remain in me," he revived him again. Then the Brāhmaṇa, now free from fever, entered his mouth.
राजाप्येतेन विधिना भगवन्तं पितामहम्। यथैव द्विजशार्दूलस्तथैव प्राविशत्तदा ॥१२-१९३-२५॥
rājāpy etena vidhinā bhagavantaṃ pitāmaham। yathaiva dvijaśārdūlas tathaiva prāviśat tadā ॥12-193-25॥
[राजा (rājā) - king; अपि (api) - also; एतेन (etena) - by this; विधिना (vidhinā) - procedure; भगवन्तं (bhagavantaṃ) - the venerable; पितामहम् (pitāmaham) - grandfather; यथा (yathā) - just as; एव (eva) - indeed; द्विजशार्दूलः (dvijaśārdūlaḥ) - best among twice-born (brāhmaṇa); तथा (tathā) - so; एव (eva) - indeed; प्राविशत् (prāviśat) - entered; तदा (tadā) - then;]
(The king also, by this procedure, (approached) the venerable grandfather; just as indeed the best among twice-born (did), so indeed (he) entered then.)
The king, following this procedure, approached the venerable grandfather; just as the foremost of the twice-born had done, so too did he enter at that time.
स्वयम्भुवमथो देवा अभिवाद्य ततोऽब्रुवन्। जापकार्थमयं यत्नस्तदर्थं वयमागताः ॥१२-१९३-२६॥
svayambhuvam atho devā abhivādya tato'bruvan। jāpakārtham ayaṃ yatnas tadarthaṃ vayam āgatāḥ ॥12-193-26॥
[स्वयम्भुवम् (svayambhuvam) - to Svayambhu (the self-born); अथ (atha) - then; उ (u) - indeed; देवाः (devāḥ) - the gods; अभिवाद्य (abhivādya) - having saluted; ततः (tataḥ) - then; अब्रुवन् (abrūvan) - they spoke; जापकार्थम् (jāpakārtham) - for the purpose of recitation; अयम् (ayam) - this; यत्नः (yatnaḥ) - effort; तदर्थम् (tadartham) - for that purpose; वयम् (vayam) - we; आगताः (āgatāḥ) - have come;]
(To Svayambhu, then indeed the gods, having saluted, then spoke: For the purpose of recitation, this effort (is made); for that purpose, we have come.)
Then the gods, having saluted Svayambhu, spoke: "We have come here for the purpose of recitation; this effort is for that purpose."
कृतपूजाविमौ तुल्यं त्वया तुल्यफलाविमौ। योगजापकयोर्दृष्टं फलं सुमहदद्य वै ॥ सर्वाँल्लोकानतीत्यैतौ गच्छेतां यत्र वाञ्छितम् ॥१२-१९३-२७॥
kṛtapūjāvimau tulyaṃ tvayā tulyaphalāvimau। yogajāpakayordṛṣṭaṃ phalaṃ sumahadadya vai ॥ sarvāṃllokānatītyaitau gacchetāṃ yatra vāñchitam ॥12-193-27॥
[कृतपूजा (kṛtapūjā) - having performed worship; अिमौ (imau) - these two; तुल्यं (tulyaṃ) - equal; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; तुल्यफलाविमौ (tulyaphalāvimau) - these two (are) of equal fruit; योगजापकयोः (yogajāpakayoḥ) - of yoga and of recitation; दृष्टं (dṛṣṭaṃ) - seen; फलं (phalaṃ) - fruit; सुमहत् (sumahat) - very great; अद्य (adya) - today; वै (vai) - indeed; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; लोकान् (lokān) - worlds; अतीत्य (atītya) - having crossed; एतौ (etau) - these two; गच्छेताम् (gacchetām) - may go; यत्र (yatra) - where; वाञ्छितम् (vāñchitam) - desired;]
(Having performed worship, these two are equal by you; these two are of equal fruit. Of yoga and recitation, the fruit seen is very great indeed today. Having crossed all worlds, these two may go where (it is) desired.)
Having performed worship, these two are considered equal by you; both are of equal fruit. The result seen from yoga and recitation is very great indeed today. Having surpassed all worlds, these two may go wherever they desire.
ब्रह्मोवाच॥

महास्मृतिं पठेद्यस्तु तथैवानुस्मृतिं शुभाम्। तावप्येतेन विधिना गच्छेतां मत्सलोकताम् ॥१२-१९३-२८॥
mahāsmṛtiṃ paṭhed yastu tathaivānusmṛtiṃ śubhām। tāv apy etena vidhinā gacchetāṃ matslokatām ॥12-193-28॥
[महास्मृतिम् (mahāsmṛtim) - great Smṛti; (sacred tradition;) पठेत् (paṭhet) - should recite; यः (yaḥ) - who; तु (tu) - indeed; तथा (tathā) - likewise; एव (eva) - just; अनुस्मृतिम् (anusmṛtim) - Anusmṛti; (another sacred text;) शुभाम् (śubhām) - auspicious; तौ (tau) - those two; अपि (api) - also; एतेन (etena) - by this; विधिना (vidhinā) - method; गच्छेताम् (gacchetām) - may go; मत्सलोकताम् (matslokatām) - to my world;]
(Who indeed should recite the great Smṛti and likewise just the auspicious Anusmṛti, those two also by this method may go to my world.)
Whoever recites the great Smṛti and likewise the auspicious Anusmṛti in this manner, both of them will attain my world.
यश्च योगे भवेद्भक्तः सोऽपि नास्त्यत्र संशयः। विधिनानेन देहान्ते मम लोकानवाप्नुयात् ॥ गम्यतां साधयिष्यामि यथास्थानानि सिद्धये ॥१२-१९३-२९॥
yaś ca yoge bhaved bhaktaḥ so'pi nāsty atra saṃśayaḥ। vidhinā anena dehānte mama lokān avāpnuyāt॥ gamyatāṃ sādhayiṣyāmi yathā sthānāni siddhaye॥12-193-29॥
[यः (yaḥ) - who; च (ca) - and; योगे (yoge) - in yoga; भवेत् (bhavet) - would be; भक्तः (bhaktaḥ) - devotee; सः (saḥ) - he; अपि (api) - also; न (na) - not; अस्ति (asti) - is; अत्र (atra) - here; संशयः (saṃśayaḥ) - doubt; विधिना (vidhinā) - by the method; अनेन (anena) - by this; देह-अन्ते (deha-ante) - at the end of the body; मम (mama) - my; लोकान् (lokān) - worlds; अवाप्नुयात् (avāpnuyāt) - may attain; गम्यताम् (gamyatām) - let it be gone; साधयिष्यामि (sādhayiṣyāmi) - I shall accomplish; यथा (yathā) - as; स्थानानि (sthānāni) - places; सिद्धये (siddhaye) - for attainment;]
(Whoever would be a devotee in yoga, he also—there is no doubt here—by this method, at the end of the body, may attain my worlds. Let it be gone; I shall accomplish the places as for attainment.)
Whoever is a devotee in yoga, there is no doubt that he too, by this method, at the end of his life, may attain my worlds. Let him go; I shall arrange the appropriate places for attainment.
भीष्म उवाच॥

इत्युक्त्वा स तदा देवस्तत्रैवान्तरधीयत। आमन्त्र्य तं ततो देवा ययुः स्वं स्वं निवेशनम् ॥१२-१९३-३०॥
ity uktvā sa tadā devas tatraiva antaradhīyata। āmantrya taṃ tato devā yayuḥ svaṃ svaṃ niveśanam ॥12-193-30॥
[इति (iti) - thus; उक्त्वा (uktvā) - having spoken; सः (saḥ) - he; तदा (tadā) - then; देवः (devaḥ) - the god; तत्र एव (tatra eva) - right there; अन्तरधीयत (antaradhīyata) - disappeared; आमन्त्र्य (āmantrya) - having addressed; तम् (tam) - him; ततः (tataḥ) - then; देवाः (devāḥ) - the gods; ययुः (yayuḥ) - went; स्वम् स्वम् (svam svam) - each to their own; निवेशनम् (niveśanam) - abode;]
(Thus having spoken, he, the god, then right there disappeared. Having addressed him, then the gods went each to their own abode.)
Having thus spoken, the god disappeared right there. After addressing him, the gods then went each to their own abodes.
ते च सर्वे महात्मानो धर्मं सत्कृत्य तत्र वै। पृष्ठतोऽनुययू राजन्सर्वे सुप्रीतमानसाः ॥१२-१९३-३१॥
te ca sarve mahātmāno dharmaṃ satkṛtya tatra vai। pṛṣṭhato'nuyayū rājansarve suprītamānasāḥ ॥12-193-31॥
[ते (te) - they; च (ca) - and; सर्वे (sarve) - all; महात्मानः (mahātmānaḥ) - great-souled ones; धर्मम् (dharmaṃ) - dharma; सत्कृत्य (satkṛtya) - having honored; तत्र (tatra) - there; वै (vai) - indeed; पृष्ठतः (pṛṣṭhataḥ) - from behind; अनुययुः (anuyayū) - followed; राजन् (rājan) - O king; सर्वे (sarve) - all; सुप्रीतमानसाः (suprītamānasāḥ) - with very pleased minds;]
(They and all the great-souled ones, having honored dharma there indeed, from behind followed, O king, all with very pleased minds.)
And all those great-souled ones, having duly honored dharma there, followed from behind, O king, all with hearts full of joy.
एतत्फलं जापकानां गतिश्चैव प्रकीर्तिता। यथाश्रुतं महाराज किं भूयः श्रोतुमिच्छसि ॥१२-१९३-३२॥
etatphalaṃ jāpakānāṃ gatiścaiva prakīrtitā। yathāśrutaṃ mahārāja kiṃ bhūyaḥ śrotumicchasi ॥12-193-32॥
[एतत् (etat) - this; फलम् (phalam) - fruit; जापकानाम् (jāpakānām) - of the chanters; गतिः (gatiḥ) - destination; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; प्रकीर्तिता (prakīrtitā) - has been proclaimed; यथा (yathā) - as; श्रुतम् (śrutam) - heard; महाराज (mahārāja) - O great king; किम् (kim) - what; भूयः (bhūyaḥ) - more; श्रोतुम् (śrotum) - to hear; इच्छसि (icchasi) - you desire;]
(This fruit of the chanters and indeed their destination has been proclaimed. As heard, O great king, what more do you desire to hear?)
This is the fruit and destination of the chanters as has been proclaimed. O great king, what more do you wish to hear?
