अथ सा स्त्री तमुक्त्वा तु विप्रमेवं भवत्विति। तैलं दिव्यमुपादाय स्नानशाटीमुपानयत् ॥१३-२१-१॥
atha sā strī tam uktvā tu vipram evaṃ bhavatv iti। tailaṃ divyam upādāya snānaśāṭīm upānayat ॥13-21-1॥
[अथ (atha) - then; सा (sā) - she; स्त्री (strī) - woman; तम् (tam) - him; उक्त्वा (uktvā) - having spoken; तु (tu) - but; विप्रम् (vipram) - brāhmaṇa; एवम् (evam) - thus; भवतु (bhavatu) - let it be; इति (iti) - thus; तैलम् (tailam) - oil; दिव्यम् (divyam) - divine; उपादाय (upādāya) - having taken; स्नानशाटीम् (snānaśāṭīm) - bathing cloth; उपानयत् (upānayat) - brought;]
(Then she, the woman, having spoken to him, but to the brāhmaṇa thus, 'let it be thus', having taken divine oil, brought the bathing cloth.)
Then that woman, having said this to the brāhmaṇa, 'Let it be so', took the divine oil and brought the bathing cloth. (13-21-1)
अनुज्ञाता च मुनिना सा स्त्री तेन महात्मना। अथास्य तैलेनाङ्गानि सर्वाण्येवाभ्यमृक्षयत् ॥१३-२१-२॥
anujñātā ca muninā sā strī tena mahātmanā। athāsya tailena aṅgāni sarvāṇi eva abhyamṛkṣayat ॥13-21-2॥
[अनुज्ञाता (anujñātā) - permitted; च (ca) - and; मुनिना (muninā) - by the sage; सा (sā) - she; स्त्री (strī) - woman; तेन (tena) - by him; महात्मना (mahātmanā) - by the great-souled; अथ (atha) - then; अस्य (asya) - his; तैलेन (tailena) - with oil; अङ्गानि (aṅgāni) - limbs; सर्वाणि (sarvāṇi) - all; एव (eva) - indeed; अभ्यमृक्षयत् (abhyamṛkṣayat) - anointed;]
(Permitted and by the sage, she woman by him the great-souled, then his with oil limbs all indeed anointed.)
Having been permitted by the sage, that woman, by the great-souled one, then anointed all his limbs with oil. (13-21-2)
शनैश्चोत्सादितस्तत्र स्नानशालामुपागमत्। भद्रासनं ततश्चित्रं ऋषिरन्वाविशन्नवम् ॥१३-२१-३॥
śanaiścot-sādita statra snānaśālā-m-upāgamat। bhadrāsanaṃ tataś citraṃ ṛṣir anvāviśannavam ॥13-21-3॥
[शनैः (śanaiḥ) - slowly; च (ca) - and; उत्सादितः (utsāditaḥ) - having been raised up; तत्र (tatra) - there; स्नानशालाम् (snānaśālām) - bath-house; उपागमत् (upāgamat) - approached; भद्रासनं (bhadrāsanam) - auspicious seat; ततः (tataḥ) - then; चित्रं (citraṃ) - wonderful; ऋषिः (ṛṣiḥ) - sage; अन्व्-आविशत् (anv-āviśat) - entered after; नवम् (navam) - new;]
(Slowly and having been raised up there, he approached the bath-house. The sage then entered the wonderful auspicious seat, new.)
Slowly, having risen there, he approached the bath-house. Then the sage entered the splendid new auspicious seat. (13-21-3)
अथोपविष्टश्च यदा तस्मिन्भद्रासने तदा। स्नापयामास शनकैस्तमृषिं सुखहस्तवत् ॥ दिव्यं च विधिवच्चक्रे सोपचारं मुनेस्तदा ॥१३-२१-४॥
athopaviṣṭaś ca yadā tasmin bhadrāsane tadā। snāpayām āsa śanakaiḥ tam ṛṣiṃ sukha-hasta-vat ॥ divyaṃ ca vidhivac cakre sopacāraṃ munes tadā ॥13-21-4॥
[अथ (atha) - then; उपविष्टः (upaviṣṭaḥ) - seated; च (ca) - and; यदा (yadā) - when; तस्मिन् (tasmin) - in that; भद्रासने (bhadrāsane) - auspicious seat; तदा (tadā) - then; स्नापयामास (snāpayām āsa) - caused to bathe; शनकैः (śanakaiḥ) - gently; तम् (tam) - him; ऋषिं (ṛṣiṃ) - sage; सुखहस्तवत् (sukha-hasta-vat) - with comfortable hands; दिव्यं (divyaṃ) - divine; च (ca) - and; विधिवत् (vidhivat) - according to rule; चक्रे (cakre) - performed; सोपचारं (sopacāraṃ) - with offerings; मुनेः (munes) - of the sage; तदा (tadā) - then;]
(Then, when he was seated on that auspicious seat, he gently caused the sage to bathe with comfortable hands. And then, he performed the divine worship of the sage with offerings, according to rule.)
Then, when the sage was seated on that auspicious seat, he gently bathed him with comfortable hands. Afterwards, he performed the divine worship of the sage with proper offerings, following the prescribed rules. (13-21-4)
स तेन सुसुखोष्णेन तस्या हस्तसुखेन च। व्यतीतां रजनीं कृत्स्नां नाजानात्स महाव्रतः ॥१३-२१-५॥
sa tena susukhoṣṇena tasyā hastasukhena ca। vyatītāṃ rajanīṃ kṛtsnāṃ nājānāt sa mahāvrataḥ ॥13-21-5॥
[स (sa) - he; तेन (tena) - by that; सुसुखोष्णेन (susukhoṣṇena) - with very pleasant warmth; तस्या (tasyā) - of her; हस्तसुखेन (hastasukhena) - with the comfort of the hand; च (ca) - and; व्यतीतां (vyatītāṃ) - passed; रजनीं (rajanīṃ) - night; कृत्स्नां (kṛtsnāṃ) - entire; न (na) - not; अजानात् (ajānāt) - he knew; स (sa) - he; महाव्रतः (mahāvrataḥ) - the great vow-holder;]
(He, by that very pleasant warmth and by the comfort of her hand, did not know that the entire night had passed, he the great vow-holder.)
He, enjoying the very pleasant warmth and the comfort of her hand, the great vow-holder did not realize that the whole night had passed. (13-21-5)
तत उत्थाय स मुनिस्तदा परमविस्मितः। पूर्वस्यां दिशि सूर्यं च सोऽपश्यदुदितं दिवि ॥१३-२१-६॥
tat utthāya sa munis tadā paramavismitaḥ। pūrvasyāṃ diśi sūryaṃ ca so'paśyaduditaṃ divi ॥13-21-6॥
[तत् (tat) - then; उत्थाय (utthāya) - having risen; स (sa) - he; मुनिः (muniḥ) - sage; तदा (tadā) - then; परमविस्मितः (paramavismitaḥ) - greatly astonished; पूर्वस्याम् (pūrvasyām) - in the eastern; दिशि (diśi) - direction; सूर्यम् (sūryam) - sun; च (ca) - and; सः (saḥ) - he; अपश्यत् (apaśyat) - saw; उदितम् (uditam) - risen; दिवि (divi) - in the sky;]
(Then, having risen, he, the sage, then, greatly astonished, in the eastern direction, the sun and he saw risen in the sky.)

तस्य बुद्धिरियं किं नु मोहस्तत्त्वमिदं भवेत्। अथोपास्य सहस्रांशुं किं करोमीत्युवाच ताम् ॥१३-२१-७॥
tasya buddhir iyaṁ kiṁ nu mohas tattvam idaṁ bhavet। athopāsya sahasrāṁśuṁ kiṁ karomīty uvāca tām ॥13-21-7॥

(Of him intellect this what indeed delusion truth this might be. Then having worshipped the thousand-rayed (Sun) what do I do thus said to her. (13-21-7))
Is this his intellect, or is it delusion, or is this the truth? Then, having worshipped the thousand-rayed Sun, he said to her, "What should I do?" (13-21-7)
सा चामृतरसप्रख्यमृषेरन्नमुपाहरत्। तस्य स्वादुतयान्नस्य न प्रभूतं चकार सः ॥ व्यगमच्चाप्यहःशेषं ततः सन्ध्यागमत्पुनः ॥१३-२१-८॥
sā cāmṛtarasaprakhyam ṛṣer annam upāharat। tasya svādu tayānnasya na prabhūtaṃ cakāra saḥ॥ vyagamac cāpy ahaḥśeṣaṃ tataḥ sandhyāgamat punaḥ॥13-21-8॥
[सा (sā) - she; च (ca) - and; अमृतरसप्रख्यम् (amṛtarasaprakhyam) - like nectar essence; ऋषेः (ṛṣeḥ) - of the sage; अन्नम् (annam) - food; उपाहरत् (upāharat) - brought; तस्य (tasya) - his; स्वादुतया (svādu tayā) - by the sweetness; अन्नस्य (annasya) - of the food; न (na) - not; प्रभूतम् (prabhūtam) - abundant; चकार (cakāra) - made; सः (saḥ) - he; व्यगमच्च (vyagamac ca) - and passed; अपि (api) - also; अहःशेषम् (ahaḥśeṣam) - the remainder of the day; ततः (tataḥ) - then; सन्ध्या (sandhyā) - twilight; अगमत् (agamat) - arrived; पुनः (punaḥ) - again;]
(She and like nectar essence of the sage food brought. His by the sweetness of the food not abundant made he. And passed also the remainder of the day, then twilight arrived again. (13-21-8))
She brought to the sage food that was like the essence of nectar. Because of the sweetness of the food, he did not make it abundant. The rest of the day also passed, and then twilight arrived again. (13-21-8)
अथ स्त्री भगवन्तं सा सुप्यतामित्यचोदयत्। तत्र वै शयने दिव्ये तस्य तस्याश्च कल्पिते ॥१३-२१-९॥
atha strī bhagavantaṃ sā supyatām ity acodayat। tatra vai śayane divye tasya tasyāś ca kalpite ॥13-21-9॥
[अथ (atha) - then; स्त्री (strī) - woman; भगवन्तं (bhagavantaṃ) - the blessed one; सा (sā) - she; सुप्यताम् (supyatām) - let (him) sleep; इति (iti) - thus; अचोदयत् (acodayat) - urged; तत्र (tatra) - there; वै (vai) - indeed; शयने (śayane) - on the bed; दिव्ये (divye) - divine; तस्य (tasya) - his; तस्याश् (tasyāś) - her; च (ca) - and; कल्पिते (kalpite) - prepared;]
(Then the woman urged the blessed one thus: "Let him sleep." There indeed, on the divine bed, prepared for him and her.)
Then the woman said to the blessed one, "Let him sleep." There, indeed, on the divine bed prepared for both him and her. (13-21-9)

न भद्रे परदारेषु मनो मे सम्प्रसज्जति। उत्तिष्ठ भद्रे भद्रं ते स्वप वै विरमस्व च ॥१३-२१-१०॥
na bhadre paradāreṣu mano me samprasajjati। uttiṣṭha bhadre bhadraṃ te svapa vai viramasva ca ॥13-21-10॥
[न (na) - not; भद्रे (bhadre) - O auspicious one; परदारेषु (paradāreṣu) - in others' wives; मनो (mano) - mind; मे (me) - my; सम्प्रसज्जति (samprasajjati) - becomes attached; उत्तिष्ठ (uttiṣṭha) - arise; भद्रे (bhadre) - O auspicious one; भद्रं (bhadraṃ) - good; ते (te) - to you; स्वप (svapa) - sleep; वै (vai) - indeed; विरमस्व (viramasva) - desist; च (ca) - and;]
(Not, O auspicious one, in others' wives, my mind becomes attached. Arise, O auspicious one, good to you, sleep indeed, desist and. (13-21-10))
O auspicious one, my mind does not become attached to other men's wives. Arise, O auspicious one, may good come to you; sleep indeed, and desist. (13-21-10)

सा तदा तेन विप्रेण तथा धृत्या निवर्तिता। स्वतन्त्रास्मीत्युवाचैनं न धर्मच्छलमस्ति ते ॥१३-२१-११॥
sā tadā tena vipreṇa tathā dhṛtyā nivartitā। svatantrāsmītyuvācainaṃ na dharmacchalamasti te ॥13-21-11॥
[सा (sā) - she; तदा (tadā) - then; तेन (tena) - by him; विप्रेण (vipreṇa) - by the brāhmaṇa; तथा (tathā) - thus; धृत्या (dhṛtyā) - with firmness; निवर्तिता (nivartitā) - turned back; स्वतन्त्रा (svatantrā) - independent; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; इति (iti) - thus; उवाच (uvāca) - said; एनम् (enam) - to him; न (na) - not; धर्मच्छलम् (dharmacchalam) - deceit of dharma; अस्ति (asti) - is; ते (te) - for you;]
(She then by him, by the brāhmaṇa, thus with firmness was turned back. "I am independent," thus she said to him, "there is not deceit of dharma for you." (13-21-11))
Then, she, having been thus firmly turned back by the brāhmaṇa, said to him, "I am independent; there is no deceit of dharma for you." (13-21-11)

नास्ति स्वतन्त्रता स्त्रीणामस्वतन्त्रा हि योषितः। प्रजापतिमतं ह्येतन्न स्त्री स्वातन्त्र्यमर्हति ॥१३-२१-१२॥
nāsti svatantratā strīṇām asvatantrā hi yoṣitaḥ। prajāpatimataṃ hy etan na strī svātantryam arhati ॥13-21-12॥
[नास्ति (nāsti) - is not; does not exist; स्वतन्त्रता (svatantratā) - independence; autonomy; स्त्रीणाम् (strīṇām) - of women; अस्वतन्त्रा (asvatantrā) - not independent; dependent; हि (hi) - indeed; surely; योषितः (yoṣitaḥ) - women; females; प्रजापतिमतम् (prajāpatimatam) - the opinion of Prajāpati; Prajāpati's doctrine; हि (hi) - indeed; surely; एतत् (etat) - this; न (na) - not; स्त्री (strī) - woman; स्वातन्त्र्यम् (svātantryam) - independence; autonomy; अर्हति (arhati) - deserves; is entitled to;]

[बाधते (bādhate) - obstructs; मैथुनं (maithunaṃ) - sexual union; विप्र (vipra) - Brāhmaṇa; मम (mama) - my; भक्तिं (bhaktiṃ) - devotion; च (ca) - and; पश्य (paśya) - see; वै (vai) - indeed; अधर्मं (adharmaṃ) - unrighteousness; प्राप्स्यसे (prāpsyase) - you will attain; विप्र (vipra) - Brāhmaṇa; यत् (yat) - because; मां (māṃ) - me; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; न (na) - not; अभिनन्दसि (abhinandasi) - you welcome;]
(Obstructs sexual union, Brāhmaṇa, my devotion and see indeed. Unrighteousness you will attain, Brāhmaṇa, because me you do not welcome. (13-21-13))
O Brāhmaṇa, sexual union obstructs my devotion, see indeed. You will attain unrighteousness, Brāhmaṇa, because you do not welcome me. (13-21-13)

हरन्ति दोषजातानि नरं जातं यथेच्छकम्। प्रभवामि सदा धृत्या भद्रे स्वं शयनं व्रज ॥१३-२१-१४॥
haranti doṣajātāni naraṃ jātaṃ yathecchakam। prabhavāmi sadā dhṛtyā bhadre svaṃ śayanaṃ vraja ॥13-21-14॥
[हरन्ति (haranti) - they remove; दोषजातानि (doṣajātāni) - groups of faults; नरं (naraṃ) - man; जातं (jātaṃ) - born; यथेच्छकम् (yathecchakam) - as desired; प्रभवामि (prabhavāmi) - I am able; सदा (sadā) - always; धृत्या (dhṛtyā) - by steadfastness; भद्रे (bhadre) - O auspicious one; स्वं (svaṃ) - own; शयनं (śayanaṃ) - bed; व्रज (vraja) - go;]
(They remove groups of faults from a man born as desired. I am always able by steadfastness, O auspicious one, go to your own bed.)

शिरसा प्रणमे विप्र प्रसादं कर्तुमर्हसि। भूमौ निपतमानायाः शरणं भव मेऽनघ ॥१३-२१-१५॥
śirasā praṇame vipra prasādaṃ kartum arhasi। bhūmau nipatamānāyāḥ śaraṇaṃ bhava me'nagha ॥13-21-15॥
[शिरसा (śirasā) - with the head; प्रणमे (praṇame) - I bow; विप्र (vipra) - O brāhmaṇa; प्रसादं (prasādam) - favor; कर्तुम् (kartum) - to do; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you are worthy; भूमौ (bhūmau) - on the ground; निपतमानायाः (nipatamānāyāḥ) - to one falling; शरणं (śaraṇam) - refuge; भव (bhava) - be; मे (me) - for me; अनघ (anagha) - O sinless one;]
(With the head I bow, O brāhmaṇa, favor to do you are worthy; on the ground to one falling refuge be for me, O sinless one;)
I bow my head, O brāhmaṇa; you are worthy to show favor. As I fall to the ground, be my refuge, O sinless one. (13-21-15)
यदि वा दोषजातं त्वं परदारेषु पश्यसि। आत्मानं स्पर्शयाम्यद्य पाणिं गृह्णीष्व मे द्विज ॥१३-२१-१६॥
yadi vā doṣajātaṃ tvaṃ paradāreṣu paśyasi। ātmānaṃ sparśayāmyadya pāṇiṃ gṛhṇīṣva me dvija ॥13-21-16॥
[यदि (yadi) - if; वा (vā) - or; दोषजातं (doṣajātaṃ) - fault-born; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; परदारेषु (paradāreṣu) - in others' wives; पश्यसि (paśyasi) - see; आत्मानं (ātmānaṃ) - self; स्पर्शयामि (sparśayāmi) - I touch; अद्य (adya) - today; पाणिं (pāṇiṃ) - hand; गृह्णीष्व (gṛhṇīṣva) - take; मे (me) - my; द्विज (dvija) - twice-born;]
(If or fault-born you in others' wives see; self I touch today; hand take my twice-born;)
If you see any fault arising in others' wives, O twice-born, today I touch my own self; take my hand.
न दोषो भविता चैव सत्येनैतद्ब्रवीम्यहम्। स्वतन्त्रां मां विजानीहि योऽधर्मः सोऽस्तु वै मयि ॥१३-२१-१७॥
na doṣo bhavitā caiva satyenaitadbravīmyaham। svatantrāṃ māṃ vijānīhi yo'dharmaḥ so'stu vai mayi ॥13-21-17॥

(Not fault will be and indeed by truth this I speak I. Independent me know. Who unrighteousness that let it be indeed in me.)
There will be no fault, and indeed, I speak this truthfully. Know me as independent. If there is any unrighteousness, let that indeed be in me. (13-21-17)

svatantrā tvaṃ kathaṃ bhadre brūhi kāraṇam atra vai। nāsti loke hi kācit strī yā vai svātantryam arhati ॥13-21-18॥
[स्वतन्त्रा (svatantrā) - independent; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; कथं (kathaṃ) - how; भद्रे (bhadre) - O auspicious one; ब्रूहि (brūhi) - speak; कारणम् (kāraṇam) - reason; अत्र (atra) - here; वै (vai) - indeed; नास्ति (nāsti) - there is not; लोके (loke) - in the world; हि (hi) - indeed; काचित् (kācit) - any; स्त्री (strī) - woman; या (yā) - who; वै (vai) - indeed; स्वातन्त्र्यम् (svātantryam) - independence; अर्हति (arhati) - deserves;]
(You are independent, how, O auspicious one, speak the reason here indeed. There is not in the world indeed any woman who indeed deserves independence. (13-21-18))
How are you independent, O auspicious lady? Tell the reason here. Indeed, there is no woman in the world who truly deserves independence. (13-21-18)
पिता रक्षति कौमारे भर्ता रक्षति यौवने। पुत्राश्च स्थविरीभावे न स्त्री स्वातन्त्र्यमर्हति ॥१३-२१-१९॥

The father protects a woman in childhood, the husband protects her in youth, and the sons in old age; a woman does not deserve independence. (13-21-19)

कौमारं ब्रह्मचर्यं मे कन्यैवास्मि न संशयः। कुरु मा विमतिं विप्र श्रद्धां विजहि मा मम ॥१३-२१-२०॥
kaumāraṃ brahmacaryaṃ me kanyāivāsmi na saṃśayaḥ। kuru mā vimatiṃ vipra śraddhāṃ vijahi mā mama ॥13-21-20॥

My maidenhood is celibacy from childhood, O brāhmaṇa, of this there is no doubt. Do not hold a contrary opinion; do not abandon faith in me. (13-21-20)

यथा मम तथा तुभ्यं यथा तव तथा मम। जिज्ञासेयमृषेस्तस्य विघ्नः सत्यं नु किं भवेत् ॥१३-२१-२१॥
yathā mama tathā tubhyaṃ yathā tava tathā mama। jijñāseyam ṛṣes tasya vighnaḥ satyaṃ nu kiṃ bhavet ॥13-21-21॥

(As it is for me, so for you; as it is for you, so for me. I wish to know of the sage, of him, obstacle, truly, indeed, what would be.)
As it is for me, so it is for you; as it is for you, so it is for me. I wish to know, O sage, whether there would truly be any obstacle for him. (13-21-21)
आश्चर्यं परमं हीदं किं नु श्रेयो हि मे भवेत्। दिव्याभरणवस्त्रा हि कन्येयं मामुपस्थिता ॥१३-२१-२२॥
āścaryaṃ paramaṃ hīdaṃ kiṃ nu śreyo hi me bhavet। divyābharaṇavastrā hi kanyeyaṃ māmupasthitā ॥13-21-22॥
[आश्चर्यं (āścaryaṃ) - wonder; परमं (paramaṃ) - supreme; हि (hi) - indeed; इदं (idaṃ) - this; किं (kiṃ) - what; नु (nu) - indeed; श्रेयो (śreyo) - better; हि (hi) - indeed; मे (me) - to me; भवेत् (bhavet) - might be; दिव्याभरणवस्त्रा (divyābharaṇavastrā) - adorned with divine ornaments and garments; हि (hi) - indeed; कन्या (kanyā) - maiden; इयं (iyaṃ) - this; माम् (mām) - to me; उपस्थिता (upasthitā) - has appeared;]
(Wonder, supreme indeed this, what indeed better indeed to me might be. Adorned with divine ornaments and garments indeed this maiden to me has appeared.)
This is a supreme wonder; what could be better for me? This maiden, adorned with divine ornaments and garments, has indeed appeared before me. (13-21-22)
किं त्वस्याः परमं रूपं जीर्णमासीत्कथं पुनः। कन्यारूपमिहाद्यैव किमिहात्रोत्तरं भवेत् ॥१३-२१-२३॥
kiṁ tvasyāḥ paramaṁ rūpaṁ jīrṇam āsīt kathaṁ punaḥ। kanyārūpam iha adya eva kim iha atra uttaraṁ bhavet ॥13-21-23॥
[किं (kiṁ) - what; तु (tu) - but; अस्याः (asyāḥ) - of her; परमं (paramam) - supreme; रूपं (rūpam) - form; जीर्णम् (jīrṇam) - aged; आसीत् (āsīt) - was; कथं (kathaṁ) - how; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; कन्यारूपम् (kanyārūpam) - maiden form; इह (iha) - here; अद्य (adya) - today; एव (eva) - indeed; किम् (kim) - what; इह (iha) - here; अत्र (atra) - in this; उत्तरम् (uttaram) - answer; भवेत् (bhavet) - might be;]
(What but of her supreme form aged was, how again? Maiden form here today indeed, what here in this answer might be? (13-21-23))
But what was her supreme form that had become aged, and how did it become so again? How is it that today, here, she has the form of a maiden? What could be the answer to this here? (13-21-23)
यथा परं शक्तिधृतेर्न व्युत्थास्ये कथञ्चन। न रोचये हि व्युत्थानं धृत्यैवं साधयाम्यहम् ॥१३-२१-२४॥
yathā paraṃ śaktidhṛterna vyutthāsye kathañcana। na rocaye hi vyutthānaṃ dhṛtyaivaṃ sādhayāmyaham ॥13-21-24॥
[यथा (yathā) - as; in what manner; परं (paraṃ) - utmost; highest; शक्ति (śakti) - power; ability; धृतेः (dhṛteḥ) - of firmness; of perseverance; न (na) - not; व्युत्थास्ये (vyutthāsye) - I will rise; I will get up; कथञ्चन (kathañcana) - in any way; ever; न (na) - not; रोचये (rocaye) - I approve; I desire; हि (hi) - indeed; surely; व्युत्थानम् (vyutthānam) - rising; getting up; धृत्या (dhṛtyā) - by firmness; by perseverance; एवं (evaṃ) - thus; in this way; साधयामि (sādhayāmi) - I accomplish; I achieve; अहम् (aham) - I; myself;]
(As, to the utmost of the power of firmness, I will not rise in any way; I do not approve indeed of rising; by firmness thus I accomplish myself.)
As far as the utmost power of firmness allows, I will not rise in any way; indeed, I do not approve of rising, for by such firmness I accomplish my purpose. (13-21-24)
