श्रुत्वैतद्वचनं ब्रह्मन्व्यासेनोक्तं महात्मना। अश्वमेधं प्रति तदा किं नृपः प्रचकार ह ॥१४-६२-१॥
śrutvaitad vacanaṃ brahman vyāsena uktaṃ mahātmanā। aśvamedhaṃ prati tadā kiṃ nṛpaḥ pracakāra ha ॥14-62-1॥

(Having heard this speech, O Brāhmaṇa, (which was) spoken by Vyāsa, the great-souled one, regarding the aśvamedha (sacrifice), then what did the king indeed do?)
O Brāhmaṇa, having heard this speech spoken by the great-souled Vyāsa regarding the aśvamedha sacrifice, what did the king then do? (14-62-1)
रत्नं च यन्मरुत्तेन निहितं पृथिवीतले। तदवाप कथं चेति तन्मे ब्रूहि द्विजोत्तम ॥१४-६२-२॥
ratnaṃ ca yan maruttena nihitaṃ pṛthivī-tale। tad avāpa kathaṃ ca iti tan me brūhi dvijottama ॥14-62-2॥

(And the jewel which was deposited by Marutta on the earth's surface, that how (it) was obtained—thus that to me tell, best of twice-born.)
O best of twice-born, tell me how that jewel, which was deposited by Marutta on the earth's surface, was obtained. (14-62-2)

श्रुत्वा द्वैपायनवचो धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः। भ्रातॄन्सर्वान्समानाय्य काले वचनमब्रवीत् ॥ अर्जुनं भीमसेनं च माद्रीपुत्रौ यमावपि ॥१४-६२-३॥
śrutvā dvaipāyana-vaco dharmarājo yudhiṣṭhiraḥ। bhrātṝn sarvān samānāyya kāle vacanam abravīt॥ arjunaṃ bhīmasenaṃ ca mādrī-putrau yamau api॥14-62-3॥
[श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; द्वैपायनवचः (dvaipāyana-vacaḥ) - the words of Dvaipāyana; धर्मराजः (dharmarājaḥ) - Dharmarāja (King of Dharma); युधिष्ठिरः (yudhiṣṭhiraḥ) - Yudhiṣṭhira; भ्रातॄन् (bhrātṝn) - brothers; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; समानाय्य (samānāyya) - having assembled; काले (kāle) - at the (appropriate) time; वचनम् (vacanam) - statement; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - spoke; अर्जुनम् (arjunam) - Arjuna; भीमसेनम् (bhīmasenam) - Bhīmasena; च (ca) - and; माद्रीपुत्रौ (mādrī-putrau) - the two sons of Mādrī; यमौ (yamau) - the twins; अपि (api) - also;]
(Having heard the words of Dvaipāyana, Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira, having assembled all (his) brothers at the time, spoke a statement. (Those brothers were) Arjuna, Bhīmasena, and also the twins, the two sons of Mādrī. (14-62-3))
Having listened to the words of Dvaipāyana, King Yudhiṣṭhira gathered all his brothers—Arjuna, Bhīmasena, and the twins, the sons of Mādrī—and then addressed them at the appointed time. (14-62-3)
श्रुतं वो वचनं वीराः सौहृदाद्यन्महात्मना। कुरूणां हितकामेन प्रोक्तं कृष्णेन धीमता ॥१४-६२-४॥
śrutaṃ vo vacanaṃ vīrāḥ sauhṛdād yan mahātmanā। kurūṇāṃ hitakāmena proktaṃ kṛṣṇena dhīmatā ॥14-62-4॥

(The speech which was heard by you, O heroes, from friendship, which by the great-souled, desiring the welfare of the Kurus, was spoken by Kṛṣṇa, the wise one.)
O heroes, the speech you have heard—spoken out of friendship by the great-souled, wise Kṛṣṇa, wishing for the welfare of the Kurus—(14-62-4)
तपोवृद्धेन महता सुहृदां भूतिमिच्छता। गुरुणा धर्मशीलेन व्यासेनाद्भुतकर्मणा ॥१४-६२-५॥
tapovṛddhena mahatā suhṛdāṃ bhūtim icchatā| guruṇā dharmaśīlena vyāsenādbhutakarmaṇā ॥14-62-5॥
[तपोवृद्धेन (tapovṛddhena) - by one increased in penance; महता (mahatā) - by the great; सुहृदां (suhṛdām) - of friends; भूतिम् (bhūtim) - prosperity; इच्छता (icchatā) - wishing for; गुरुणा (guruṇā) - by the teacher; धर्मशीलेन (dharmaśīlena) - by one whose nature is righteousness; व्यासेन (vyāsena) - by Vyāsa; अद्भुतकर्मणा (adbhutakarmaṇā) - by one of wondrous deeds;]
(By one increased in penance, by the great, of friends wishing for prosperity, by the teacher, by one whose nature is righteousness, by Vyāsa, by one of wondrous deeds.)
By Vyāsa—great, increased in penance, righteous by nature, wondrous in deeds, teacher—wishing for the prosperity of friends. (14-62-5)
भीष्मेण च महाप्राज्ञ गोविन्देन च धीमता। संस्मृत्य तदहं सम्यक्कर्तुमिच्छामि पाण्डवाः ॥१४-६२-६॥
bhīṣmeṇa ca mahāprājña govindena ca dhīmatā। saṁsmṛtya tadahaṁ samyakkartumicchāmi pāṇḍavāḥ॥14-62-6॥
[भीष्मेण (bhīṣmeṇa) - by Bhīṣma; च (ca) - and; महाप्राज्ञ (mahāprājña) - greatly wise; गोविन्देन (govindena) - by Govinda; च (ca) - and; धीमता (dhīmatā) - by the intelligent; संस्मृत्य (saṁsmṛtya) - having remembered; तत् (tad) - that; अहं (ahaṁ) - I; सम्यक् (samyak) - properly; कर्तुम् (kartum) - to do; इच्छामि (icchāmi) - I desire; पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - O Pāṇḍavas;]
(By Bhīṣma and by Govinda, by the greatly wise and the intelligent; having remembered that, I, properly, to do, desire, O Pāṇḍavas.)
O Pāṇḍavas, having remembered that which was spoken by the greatly wise Bhīṣma and the intelligent Govinda, I desire to properly accomplish it. (14-62-6)
आयत्यां च तदात्वे च सर्वेषां तद्धि नो हितम्। अनुबन्धे च कल्याणं यद्वचो ब्रह्मवादिनः ॥१४-६२-७॥
āyatyāṃ ca tadātve ca sarveṣāṃ taddhi no hitam। anubandhe ca kalyāṇaṃ yadvaco brahmavādinaḥ॥14-62-7॥
[आयत्याम् (āyatyām) - in the future; च (ca) - and; तदात्वे (tadātve) - at that time; च (ca) - and; सर्वेषाम् (sarveṣām) - for all; तत् (tat) - that; हि (hi) - indeed; नः (naḥ) - for us; हितम् (hitam) - welfare; अनुबन्धे (anubandhe) - in the consequence; च (ca) - and; कल्याणम् (kalyāṇam) - auspiciousness; यत् (yat) - that which; वचः (vacaḥ) - word; ब्रह्मवादिनः (brahmavādinaḥ) - of those who speak of Brahman;]
(In the future and at that time, for all, that indeed is welfare for us. And in the consequence, the auspiciousness is that which is the word of those who speak of Brahman.)
That which, both in the future and at that time, is the welfare of all, and which, as declared by the speakers of Brahman, brings auspiciousness in consequence — that indeed is good for us. (14-62-7)
इयं हि वसुधा सर्वा क्षीणरत्ना कुरूद्वहाः। तच्चाचष्ट बहु व्यासो मरुत्तस्य धनं नृपाः ॥१४-६२-८॥
iyaṁ hi vasudhā sarvā kṣīṇaratnā kurūdvahāḥ। tac cācaṣṭa bahu vyāso maruttasya dhanaṁ nṛpāḥ॥14-62-8॥
[इयं (iyaṁ) - this; हि (hi) - indeed; वसुधा (vasudhā) - earth; सर्वा (sarvā) - entire; क्षीणरत्ना (kṣīṇaratnā) - depleted of jewels; कुरूद्वहाः (kurūdvahāḥ) - O best of the Kurus; तत् (tat) - that; च (ca) - and; आचष्ट (ācaṣṭa) - said; बहु (bahu) - much; व्यासः (vyāsaḥ) - Vyāsa; मरुत्तस्य (maruttasya) - of Marutta; धनम् (dhanam) - treasure; नृपाः (nṛpāḥ) - kings;]
(This indeed earth entire depleted-of-jewels O best of the Kurus. That and said much Vyāsa of Marutta treasure kings.)
O best of the Kurus, this entire earth is indeed depleted of jewels; and Vyāsa spoke much to the kings about the treasure of Marutta. (14-62-8)
यद्येतद्वो बहुमतं मन्यध्वं वा क्षमं यदि। तदानयामहे सर्वे कथं वा भीम मन्यसे ॥१४-६२-९॥
yady etad vo bahumataṃ manyadhvaṃ vā kṣamaṃ yadi। tad ānayāmahe sarve kathaṃ vā bhīma manyase॥14-62-9॥
[यदि (yadi) - if; एतत् (etat) - this; वः (vo) - to you (all); बहुमतम् (bahumataṃ) - highly regarded; मन्यध्वम् (manyadhvam) - you (all) think; वा (vā) - or; क्षमम् (kṣamam) - fit; यदि (yadi) - if; तत् (tat) - that; आनयामहे (ānayāmahe) - we may bring; सर्वे (sarve) - all (of us); कथम् (kathaṃ) - how; वा (vā) - or; भीम (bhīma) - Bhīma; मन्यसे (manyase) - do you think;]
(If this is highly regarded by you or you all think it fit, if so, let us all bring it; or how, Bhīma, do you think?)
If this is considered preferable or proper by you, then let us all bring it; or what do you think, Bhīma? (14-62-9)
इत्युक्तवाक्ये नृपतौ तदा कुरुकुलोद्वह। भीमसेनो नृपश्रेष्ठं प्राञ्जलिर्वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥१४-६२-१०॥
ity-uktavākye nṛpatau tadā kurukulad-vaha। bhīmaseno nṛpaśreṣṭhaṃ prāñjalir vākyam abravīt ॥14-62-10॥
[इति-उक्त-वाक्ये (iti-ukta-vākye) - thus having-spoken words; नृपतौ (nṛpatau) - when the king (in/at/on the king); तदा (tadā) - then; कुरुकुलोद्वह (kurukulad-vaha) - best of the Kuru dynasty; भीमसेनः (bhīmasenaḥ) - Bhīmasena; नृपश्रेष्ठम् (nṛpaśreṣṭham) - offering to the best of kings; प्राञ्जलिः (prāñjaliḥ) - with folded hands; वाक्यम् (vākyam) - speech; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - spoke;]
(Thus, when the words had been spoken to the king, then, O best of the Kuru dynasty, Bhīmasena, with folded hands, spoke speech to the best of kings.)
Having spoken thus to the king, then, O best of the Kuru dynasty, Bhīmasena, with folded hands, addressed the best of kings. (14-62-10)
रोचते मे महाबाहो यदिदं भाषितं त्वया। व्यासाख्यातस्य वित्तस्य समुपानयनं प्रति ॥१४-६२-११॥
rocate me mahābāho yad idaṁ bhāṣitaṁ tvayā. vyāsākhyātasya vittasya samupānayanaṁ prati ॥14-62-11॥
[रोचते (rocate) - pleases; मे (me) - to me; महाबाहो (mahābāho) - O mighty-armed; यद् (yad) - which; इदं (idaṁ) - this; भाषितं (bhāṣitaṁ) - spoken; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; व्यासाख्यातस्य (vyāsākhyātasya) - declared by Vyāsa; वित्तस्य (vittasya) - of the knowledge; समुपानयनं (samupānayanaṁ) - bringing together; प्रति (prati) - regarding;]
(Pleases to me, O mighty-armed, which this spoken by you, of Vyāsa-declared knowledge, regarding the bringing together.)
O mighty-armed, I am pleased by what you have said concerning the collection of the knowledge declared by Vyāsa. (14-62-11)
यदि तत्प्राप्नुयामेह धनमाविक्षितं प्रभो। कृतमेव महाराज भवेदिति मतिर्मम ॥१४-६२-१२॥
yadi tat-prāpnuyāmeha dhanam āvikṣitaṃ prabho। kṛtam eva mahārāja bhaved iti matir mama ॥14-62-12॥
[यदि (yadi) - if; तत् (tat) - that; प्राप्नुयाम् (prāpnuyām) - I would obtain; इह (iha) - here; धनम् (dhanam) - wealth; आविक्षितम् (āvikṣitam) - unclaimed; प्रभो (prabho) - O lord; कृतम् (kṛtam) - done; एव (eva) - indeed; महाराज (mahārāja) - O great king; भवेत् (bhavet) - would be; इति (iti) - thus; मतिः (matiḥ) - thought; मम (mama) - my;]
(If that unclaimed wealth I would obtain here, O lord, indeed, O great king, it would be done—thus my thought.)
O great king, if I were to obtain that unclaimed wealth here, O lord, I would consider it as already accomplished—this is my thought. (14-62-12)
ते वयं प्रणिपातेन गिरीशस्य महात्मनः। तदानयाम भद्रं ते समभ्यर्च्य कपर्दिनम् ॥१४-६२-१३॥
te vayaṃ praṇipātena girīśasya mahātmanaḥ। tadānayāma bhadraṃ te samabhyarcya kapardinam ॥14-62-13॥
[ते (te) - those; (or: they;) वयम् (vayam) - we; प्रणिपातेन (praṇipātena) - by prostration; (instrumental of praṇipāta, prostration;) गिरीशस्य (girīśasya) - of Girisha (Lord of the Mountain); महात्मनः (mahātmanaḥ) - of the great-souled one; तदा (tadā) - then; अनयाम (anayāma) - we brought; (1st person plural past; भद्रं (bhadraṃ) - blessed (thing); auspicious (thing); ते (te) - to you; समभ्यर्च्य (samabhyarcya) - having duly worshipped; (absolutive of sam + abhi + √arc;) कपर्दिनम् (kapardinam) - Kapardin (the matted-haired one, i.e. Śiva);]
(They, we, by prostration, of Giriśa, of the great-souled one. Then, we brought auspicious (thing), to you, having duly worshipped Kapardin.)
We, having prostrated before the great-souled Lord of the Mountain (Śiva), then, after duly worshipping Kapardin, have brought you this blessed thing. (14-62-13)
तं विभुं देवदेवेशं तस्यैवानुचरांश्च तान्। प्रसाद्यार्थमवाप्स्यामो नूनं वाग्बुद्धिकर्मभिः ॥१४-६२-१४॥
taṁ vibhuṁ devadeveśaṁ tasyaivānucarāṁśca tān। prasādyārtham avāpsyāmo nūnaṁ vāgbuddhikarmabhiḥ ॥14-62-14॥
[तं (taṁ) - him; विभुं (vibhuṁ) - the all-pervading one; देवदेवेशं (devadeveśam) - lord of lord of gods; तस्यैव (tasyaiva) - of him only; अनुचरान् (anucarān) - attendants; च (ca) - and; तान् (tān) - those; प्रसाद्यार्थम् (prasādyartham) - for the purpose of favor; अवाप्स्यामः (avāpsyāmaḥ) - we shall attain; नूनम् (nūnam) - surely; वाक् (vāk) - speech; बुद्धि (buddhi) - mind; कर्मभिः (karmabhiḥ) - by actions;]
(Him, the all-pervading one, the lord of lord of gods, of him only, and those attendants— for the purpose of favor, we shall surely attain by speech, mind, and actions.)
We shall surely attain him, the all-pervading lord of the lords of gods, and his attendants, for the purpose of his favor, by speech, mind, and actions. (14-62-14)
रक्षन्ते ये च तद्द्रव्यं किङ्करा रौद्रदर्शनाः। ते च वश्या भविष्यन्ति प्रसन्ने वृषभध्वजे ॥१४-६२-१५॥
rakṣante ye ca taddravyaṃ kiṅkarā raudradarśanāḥ। te ca vaśyā bhaviṣyanti prasanne vṛṣabhadhvaje॥14-62-15॥
[रक्षन्ते (rakṣante) - (they) protect; keep; preserve; ये (ye) - who; those; च (ca) - and; तद्द्रव्यं (taddravyaṃ) - that wealth; that property; किङ्करा (kiṅkarāḥ) - servants; attendants; रौद्रदर्शनाः (raudradarśanāḥ) - having fierce appearance; fierce-looking; ते (te) - they; च (ca) - and; वश्या (vaśyāḥ) - under control; obedient; भविष्यन्ति (bhaviṣyanti) - will become; प्रसन्ने (prasanne) - being pleased; when being pleased; वृषभध्वजे (vṛṣabhadhvaje) - to the Bull-bannered (Śiva); to the one having the bull as a banner;]
(Protect they who and that wealth servants fierce-looking; they and obedient will become when the Bull-bannered (Śiva) is pleased.)
Those fierce-looking attendants who protect that wealth—when the Bull-bannered Śiva is pleased, even they will become obedient. (14-62-15)
श्रुत्वैवं वदतस्तस्य वाक्यं भीमस्य भारत। प्रीतो धर्मात्मजो राजा बभूवातीव भारत ॥ अर्जुनप्रमुखाश्चापि तथेत्येवाब्रुवन्मुदा ॥१४-६२-१६॥
śrutvaivaṃ vadatas tasya vākyaṃ bhīmasya bhārata। prīto dharmātmajo rājā babhūvātīva bhārata॥ arjuna-pramukhāś cāpi tathety evābruvan mudā॥14-62-16॥
[श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) (śrutvā) - having heard; एवम् (evam) (evam) - thus; वदतः (vadataḥ) (vadataḥ) - speaking; (from the one) speaking; तस्य (tasya) (tasya) - his; वाक्यम् (vākyam) (vākyam) - speech; भीमस्य (bhīmasya) (bhīmasya) - of Bhīma; भारत (bhārata) (bhārata) - O descendant of Bharata; प्रीतः (prītaḥ) (prītaḥ) - pleased; धर्मात्मज: (dharmātmajaḥ) (dharmātmajaḥ) - the son of Dharma; राजा (rājā) (rājā) - king; बभूव (babhūva) (babhūva) - became; अतीव (atīva) (atīva) - very (much); भारत (bhārata) (bhārata) - O descendant of Bharata; अर्जुनप्रमुखाः (arjuna-pramukhāḥ) (arjuna-pramukhāḥ) - Arjuna and others at the front; च (ca) (ca) - and; अपि (api) (api) - also; तथैति (tathā iti) (tathā iti) - so indeed; एव (eva) (eva) - just; अब्रुवन् (abravan) (abravan) - said; मुदा (mudā) (mudā) - with joy;]
(Having heard thus the speech of Bhīma, O Bhārata, the king, son of Dharma, became very pleased, O Bhārata. Arjuna and the others at the front also said, "So indeed," with joy. (14-62-16))
O Bhārata, hearing the words spoken thus by Bhīma, the king, son of Dharma, became extremely pleased, O Bhārata. Arjuna and the leaders as well joyfully agreed, saying, "So be it." (14-62-16)
कृत्वा तु पाण्डवाः सर्वे रत्नाहरणनिश्चयम्। सेनामाज्ञापयामासुर्नक्षत्रेऽहनि च ध्रुवे ॥१४-६२-१७॥
kṛtvā tu pāṇḍavāḥ sarve ratnāharaṇa-niścayam। senām ājñāpayāmāsur nakṣatre 'hani ca dhruve ॥14-62-17॥
[कृत्वा (kṛtvā) - having done; तु (tu) - but; पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - the Pāṇḍavas; सर्वे (sarve) - all; रत्नाहरणनिश्चयम् (ratnāharaṇa-niścayam) - the resolve to seize the jewels; सेनाम् (senām) - the army; आज्ञापयामासुः (ājñāpayāmāsuḥ) - ordered; नक्षत्रे (nakṣatre) - on the (auspicious) lunar constellation; अहनि (ahani) - on the day; च (ca) - and; ध्रुवे (dhruve) - fixed;]
(Having made but all the Pāṇḍavas the decision to seize the jewels, they ordered the army on the lunar constellation, and on the fixed day.)
But, having unanimously resolved to recover the jewels, all the Pāṇḍavas ordered the army on the fixed day under the auspicious lunar constellation. (14-62-17)
ततो ययुः पाण्डुसुता ब्राह्मणान्स्वस्ति वाच्य च। अर्चयित्वा सुरश्रेष्ठं पूर्वमेव महेश्वरम् ॥१४-६२-१८॥
tato yayuḥ pāṇḍusutā brāhmaṇān svasti vācya ca। arcayitvā suraśreṣṭhaṃ pūrvam eva maheśvaram ॥14-62-18॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - after that; ययुः (yayuḥ) - they went; पाण्डुसुता (pāṇḍusutāḥ) - sons of Pāṇḍu; ब्राह्मणान् (brāhmaṇān) - to the Brāhmaṇas; स्वस्ति (svasti) - auspiciousness; वाच्य (vācya) - should say; च (ca) - and; अर्चयित्वा (arcayitvā) - having worshipped; सुरश्रेष्ठम् (suraśreṣṭham) - the best of the gods; पूर्वम् (pūrvam) - before; एव (eva) - indeed; महेश्वरम् (maheśvaram) - Maheshvara (the Great Lord);]
(After that, the sons of Pāṇḍu went to the Brāhmaṇas and should say 'svasti' (blessings); having first indeed worshipped Maheshvara, the best of the gods.)
Then, the sons of Pāṇḍu went to the Brāhmaṇas to offer blessings, having already worshipped Maheshvara, the foremost among the gods. (14-62-18)
मोदकैः पायसेनाथ मांसापूपैस्तथैव च। आशास्य च महात्मानं प्रययुर्मुदिता भृशम् ॥१४-६२-१९॥
modakaiḥ pāyasena atha māṃsāpūpaiḥ tathaiva ca| āśāsya ca mahātmānam prayayuḥ muditā bhṛśam॥14-62-19॥
[मोदकैः (modakaiḥ) - with sweet dumplings; पायसेन (pāyasena) - with rice pudding; अथ (atha) - then; मांसापूपैः (māṃsāpūpaiḥ) - with meat cakes; तथा एव (tatha eva) - in the same way; च (ca) - and; आशास्य (āśāsya) - having taken leave (of); च (ca) - and; महात्मानम् (mahātmānam) - the great-souled one; प्रययुः (prayayūḥ) - they went; मुदिताः (muditāḥ) - glad; भृशम् (bhṛśam) - very much;]
(With sweet dumplings, with rice pudding, then with meat cakes similarly and; having taken leave and the great-souled one, they went very much gladdened.)
They, offering sweet dumplings, rice pudding, and likewise meat cakes, having taken leave of the great-souled one, departed, greatly rejoicing. (14-62-19)
तेषां प्रयास्यतां तत्र मङ्गलानि शुभान्यथ। प्राहुः प्रहृष्टमनसो द्विजाग्र्या नागराश्च ते ॥१४-६२-२०॥
teṣāṁ prayāsyatāṁ tatra maṅgalāni śubhānyatha। prāhuḥ prahṛṣṭamanaso dvijāgryā nāgarāśca te ॥14-62-20॥
[तेषां (teṣāṁ) - of them; प्रयास्यतां (prayāsyatām) - departing; (those who were) about to go; तत्र (tatra) - there; मङ्गलानि (maṅgalāni) - blessings; auspicious things; शुभानि (śubhāni) - good; auspicious; अथ (atha) - then; प्राहुः (prāhuḥ) - said (they said); प्रहृष्टमनसः (prahṛṣṭamanasaḥ) - with delighted minds; द्विजाग्र्याः (dvijāgryāḥ) - the foremost among Brāhmaṇas; नागराः (nāgarāḥ) - the citizens; च (ca) - and; ते (te) - they;]
(Of them departing there blessings auspicious things then said with delighted minds the foremost among Brāhmaṇas and the citizens they.)
Then, as they were about to depart there, the foremost among the Brāhmaṇas and the citizens—those people with delighted minds—spoke auspicious and blessed words. (14-62-20)
ततः प्रदक्षिणीकृत्य शिरोभिः प्रणिपत्य च। ब्राह्मणानग्निसहितान्प्रययुः पाण्डुनन्दनाः ॥१४-६२-२१॥
tataḥ pradakṣiṇīkṛtya śirobhiḥ praṇipatya ca। brāhmaṇān agni-sahitān prayayuḥ pāṇḍu-nandanāḥ ॥14-62-21॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; प्रदक्षिणीकृत्य (pradakṣiṇīkṛtya) - having circumambulated; शिरोभिः (śirobhiḥ) - with heads; प्रणिपत्य (praṇipatya) - having bowed down; च (ca) - and; ब्राह्मणान् (brāhmaṇān) - the Brāhmaṇas; अग्निसहितान् (agni-sahitān) - together with Agni; प्रययुः (prayayuḥ) - they departed; पाण्डुनन्दनाः (pāṇḍu-nandanāḥ) - the sons of Pāṇḍu;]
(Then, having circumambulated, with (their) heads having bowed down, and the Brāhmaṇas together with Agni, they departed, the sons of Pāṇḍu.)
Then the sons of Pāṇḍu, after circumambulating and bowing with their heads to the Brāhmaṇas together with Agni, departed. (14-62-21)
समनुज्ञाप्य राजानं पुत्रशोकसमाहतम्। धृतराष्ट्रं सभार्यं वै पृथां पृथुललोचनाम् ॥१४-६२-२२॥
samanujñāpya rājānaṃ putraśokasamāhatam। dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ sabhāryaṃ vai pṛthāṃ pṛthulalocanām ॥14-62-22॥
[समनुज्ञाप्य (samanujñāpya) - having respectfully taken leave (of); राजानं (rājānam) - the king; (accusative singular) पुत्रशोकसमाहतम् (putraśokasamāhatam) - afflicted by grief for (his) son; धृतराष्ट्रं (dhṛtarāṣṭram) - Dhritarashtra; (accusative singular) सभार्यं (sabhāryam) - with (his) wife; वै (vai) - indeed; पृथां (pṛthām) - (to) Pṛthā (Kuntī); पृथुललोचनाम् (pṛthulalocanām) - large-eyed; (accusative singular);]
(Having respectfully taken leave of the king afflicted by grief for (his) son, Dhritarashtra with his wife indeed, and Pṛthā of large eyes.)
Having respectfully taken leave of the king, Dhritarashtra and his wife, who were afflicted by the grief of their son, as well as Kuntī of large eyes. (14-62-22)
मूले निक्षिप्य कौरव्यं युयुत्सुं धृतराष्ट्रजम्। सम्पूज्यमानाः पौरैश्च ब्राह्मणैश्च मनीषिभिः ॥१४-६२-२३॥
mūle nikṣipya kauravyaṁ yuyutsuṁ dhṛtarāṣṭrajam। sampūjyamānāḥ pauraiś ca brāhmaṇaiś ca manīṣibhiḥ॥14-62-23॥
[मूले (mūle) - at the root; निक्षिप्य (nikṣipya) - having placed; कौरव्यम् (kauravyam) - the Kaurava (descendant of Kuru); युयुत्सुम् (yuyutsum) - Yuyutsu; धृतराष्ट्रजम् (dhṛtarāṣṭrajam) - the son of Dhritarashtra; सम्पूज्यमानाः (sampūjyamānāḥ) - being honored; पौरैः (pauraiḥ) - by the townspeople; च (ca) - and; ब्राह्मणैः (brāhmaṇaiḥ) - by the Brāhmaṇas; च (ca) - and; मनीषिभिः (manīṣibhiḥ) - by the wise;]
(At the root, having placed the Kaurava Yuyutsu, the son of Dhritarashtra, being honored by the townspeople and by the Brāhmaṇas and by the wise.)
