Vaiśampāyana said.
But as Kuntī (Pṛthā) arose, Subhadrā saw her brother, then, afflicted with grief, she cried out and spoke these words. (14-66-1)
O lotus-eyed one, behold the grandson of the wise Pārtha, depleted among the diminished Kurus, his lifespan having come to an end. (14-66-2)
The reed-arrow let loose by Droṇa's son for Bhīmasena, that arrow instead struck Uttarā, and fell on me as well. (14-66-3)
O Keśava, this burning (pain) remains in my heart, O Lord, because I do not see Durdharṣa, my son. (14-66-4)
What, indeed, will the righteous-souled king Yudhishthira say, and Bhimasena and Arjuna, and those two sons of Madri? (14-66-5)
When they heard that Abhimanyu's son was born but was already dead, O descendant of Vṛṣṇi, the Pāṇḍavas felt as if they had been plundered by Droṇa's son. (14-66-6)
O Kṛṣṇa, Abhimanyu is dear to the elders—there is no doubt here. What indeed will they say, having heard, after being conquered by Droṇaputra's weapon? (14-66-7)
O Janardana, O Krishna, I think there is no greater sorrow from my survival than that which has occurred by the death of Abhimanyu's son, O subduer of foes. (14-66-8)
Therefore, O Kṛṣṇa, with my head bowed, I request you today. See Pṛthā and this Draupadī as well, O best of men. (14-66-9)
O Mādhava, when the son of Droṇa killed the unborn children of the Pāṇḍus, then indeed Drauṇi, in anger, was addressed by you, O destroyer of enemies. (14-66-10)
O pseudo-brāhmaṇa, O lowest of men, I will do this for you not willingly. I will bring back to life the son of Arjuna. (14-66-11)
Having heard this speech and knowing your strength, I seek your favor, O unconquerable one among the living, O son of Abhimanyu. (14-66-12)
If, having promised thus, you do not carry out your auspicious word, O tiger among the Vṛṣṇis, then regard me as dead. (14-66-13)
O hero, if the son of Abhimanyu does not return to life, O unconquerable one, what should I do with you being alive? (14-66-14)
Revive this son of Abhimanyu, O Durdharṣa, who is dead; O hero, like a raincloud pouring down on a crop, upon the son of Akṣa. (14-66-15)
O Keśava, you indeed are righteous, truthful, and true in your actions; you are fit to fulfill that truthful promise, O subduer of enemies. (14-66-16)
If you, desiring, could indeed restore the three worlds to life, alas, these dead—what to say then of the beloved nephew, your own son, who is dead? (14-66-17)
Kṛṣṇa, I know your power; therefore I say this to you: Please grant this supreme favor to the sons of Pāṇḍu. (14-66-18)
Whether as 'sister', O mighty-armed one, or as 'bereft of her son' again; this woman who has sought refuge in me thus—you ought to show compassion here. (14-66-19)
