Mahabharata - Ashvamedhika Parva (महाभारत - अश्वमेधिकपर्वम्)
14.088
The return of Arjuna.
Vaiśampāyana said.
Seeing the assembled Vedic scholars and kings, rulers of the earth, King Yudhiṣṭhira then spoke to Bhīmasena. (14-88-1)
These tigers among men, the lords of the world, have arrived. Let worship be performed for these, for the lords among men are indeed worthy of worship. (14-88-2)
O Bhārata, thus addressed by the illustrious king, Bhīmasena, of great energy, acted accordingly together with the two sons of Yama. (14-88-3)
Then Govinda, with the Vṛṣṇis and having Baladeva at the fore, approached Dharmaja, the foremost of all living beings. (14-88-4)
Accompanied by Yuyudhāna, Pradyumna, Gada, Niśatha, Sāmba, and likewise Kṛtavarman. (14-88-5)
Bhīma of mighty arms performed the highest honor to them too, and those foremost among men entered the jewel-studded mansions. (14-88-6)
But at the end of the conversation, in the presence of Yudhiṣṭhira, Madhusūdana (Kṛṣṇa) spoke about Arjuna, who was worn out by many battles. (14-88-7)
Again and again Kaunteya (Arjuna), the conqueror of enemies, asked him. The lord of the world (Krishna) recounted about Jiṣṇu, the brother of Dharmarāj (Yudhiṣṭhira). (14-88-8)
O king, my trusted man, a resident of Dvārakā, came—he who had seen the foremost of the Pāṇḍavas, worn out by many battles. (14-88-9)
O mighty-armed, one spoke to me nearby, O lord. Perform the tasks, O son of Kunti, for the accomplishment of the horse sacrifice. (14-88-10)
Thus, when addressed, Yudhishthira, the king of dharma, replied: By good fortune, Jiṣṇu is well and is coming, O Mādhava. (14-88-11)
O descendant of Yadu, I wish that you tell me here what the leader of the army of the Pāṇḍavas, whom you commanded, did. (14-88-12)
When these words were spoken, O tiger among kings, the eloquent lord of the Vṛṣṇis and Andhakas then addressed these words to righteous-souled Yudhishthira. (14-88-13)
O great king, this man spoke to me these words of Pārtha; Yudhiṣṭhira, O Kṛṣṇa, should say this statement of mine at the appointed time. (14-88-14)
Kings will come from all sides to the Kauravas. For each of them, individual honor should be performed; this indeed is appropriate for us. (14-88-15)
Thus, on the basis of these words, the king should be informed by me, O bestower of honor. There would indeed be nothing urgent regarding the bringing of the arghya offering. (14-88-16)
That act is proper for the king, and you should also approve it. Let not these subjects perish again, O King, due to enmity with the king. (14-88-17)
O son of Kunti, this is another speech that he said. O king, hear that (speech) of Dhananjaya from me as I recount it. (14-88-18)
Our son, the king, lord of Maṇipura, the illustrious and beloved Babhruvāhana, will come to the sacrifice. (14-88-19)
O lord, you should properly honor him for the sake of his attention towards me, for he is indeed a devotee always devoted and attached to me. (14-88-20)
Having heard these words, King Yudhishthira, having praised his (words), spoke as follows. (14-88-21)
