Pancharatra: Agni seeks Arjuna and Krishna's help to burn Kandava forest.

so'bravīd arjunaṃ caiva vāsudevaṃ ca sātvatam। lokapravīrau tiṣṭhantau khāṇḍavasya samīpataḥ ॥1-215-1॥

ब्राह्मणो बहुभोक्तास्मि भुञ्जेऽपरिमितं सदा। भिक्षे वार्ष्णेयपार्थौ वामेकां तृप्तिं प्रयच्छताम् ॥१-२१५-२॥

(Thus having been spoken, to him they said, then those two, Kṛṣṇa and Pāṇḍava: By what food would you be satisfied? Of that food, as (you wish), we may bring.)
After these words were spoken, Kṛṣṇa and Pāṇḍava said to him: "By what food would you be satisfied? Of that food, as you wish, we will bring it."
एवमुक्तः स भगवानब्रवीत्तावुभौ ततः। भाषमाणौ तदा वीरौ किमन्नं क्रियतामिति ॥१-२१५-४॥
evam-uktaḥ sa bhagavān abravīt tau ubhau tataḥ। bhāṣamāṇau tadā vīrau kim annaṃ kriyatām iti ॥1-215-4॥

(Thus having been spoken to, the venerable one said to both of them then: "The two heroes, while speaking, (asked) what food should be prepared?")
Thus addressed, the venerable one then said to both: "While the two heroes were speaking, what food should be prepared?"
नाहमन्नं बुभुक्षे वै पावकं मां निबोधतम्। यदन्नमनुरूपं मे तद्युवां सम्प्रयच्छतम् ॥१-२१५-५॥
nāham annaṃ bubhukṣe vai pāvakaṃ māṃ nibodhatam। yad annam anurūpaṃ me tad yuvāṃ samprayacchatam॥1-215-5॥

I do not desire food; know me as fire. Give me that food which is suitable for me, you both.
इदमिन्द्रः सदा दावं खाण्डवं परिरक्षति। तं न शक्नोम्यहं दग्धुं रक्ष्यमाणं महात्मना ॥१-२१५-६॥

(Here dwells his friend Takshaka, the serpent, always; accompanied by his attendants, the wielder of the thunderbolt protects the forest fire for his sake.)

तत्र भूतान्यनेकानि रक्ष्यन्ते स्म प्रसङ्गतः। तं दिधक्षुर्न शक्नोमि दग्धुं शक्रस्य तेजसा ॥१-२१५-८॥
tatra bhūtānyanekāni rakṣyante sma prasaṅgataḥ। taṃ didhakṣur na śaknomi dagdhuṃ śakrasya tejasā ॥1-215-8॥

(He, having seen me blazing, pours down with cloud-waters. Then, desiring to burn the desired forest fire, I am not able to burn.)
He, seeing me blazing, pours down with rain from the clouds. Therefore, though I wish to burn the desired forest fire, I am unable to do so.
स युवाभ्यां सहायाभ्यामस्त्रविद्भ्यां समागतः। दहेयं खाण्डवं दावमेतदन्नं वृतं मया ॥१-२१५-१०॥
sa yuvābhyāṃ sahāyābhyām astravidbhyāṃ samāgataḥ। daheyaṃ khāṇḍavaṃ dāvam etad annaṃ vṛtaṃ mayā॥1-215-10॥

(You two indeed, water-bearers, those beings and on all sides; excellent knowers of weapons, properly from all sides, you two will ward off.)

एवमुक्ते प्रत्युवाच बीभत्सुर्जातवेदसम्। दिधक्षुं खाण्डवं दावमकामस्य शतक्रतोः ॥१-२१५-१२॥

[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्ते (ukte) - having been spoken; प्रत्युवाच (pratyuvāca) - replied; बीभत्सुः (bībhatsuḥ) - Bībhatsu (Arjuna); जातवेदसम् (jātavedasam) - to Jātavedas (Agni); दिधक्षुम् (didhakṣum) - desiring to burn; खाण्डवम् (khāṇḍavam) - Khāṇḍava (forest); दावम् (dāvam) - forest fire; अकामस्य (akāmasya) - of the unwilling; शतक्रतोः (śatakratoḥ) - of Śatakratu (Indra);]
(Thus, when it was spoken, Bībhatsu (Arjuna) replied to Jātavedas (Agni), desiring to burn the Khāṇḍava forest fire of the unwilling Śatakratu (Indra).)
When these words were spoken, Arjuna (Bībhatsu) replied to Agni (Jātavedas), who wished to burn the Khāṇḍava forest, which Indra (Śatakratu) was unwilling to allow.
उत्तमास्त्राणि मे सन्ति दिव्यानि च बहूनि च। यैरहं शक्नुयां योद्धुमपि वज्रधरान्बहून् ॥१-२१५-१३॥
uttamāstrāṇi me santi divyāni ca bahūni ca। yairahaṃ śaknuyāṃ yoddhumapi vajradharānbahūn ॥1-215-13॥
[उत्तम (uttama) - excellent; अस्त्राणि (astrāṇi) - weapons; मे (me) - my; सन्ति (santi) - are; दिव्यानि (divyāni) - divine; च (ca) - and; बहूनि (bahūni) - many; च (ca) - and; यैः (yaiḥ) - by which; अहम् (aham) - I; शक्नुयाम् (śaknuyām) - could be able; योद्धुम् (yoddhum) - to fight; अपि (api) - even; वज्रधरान् (vajradharān) - wielders of the thunderbolt; बहून् (bahūn) - many;]
(Excellent weapons, my, are, divine and many and; by which I could be able to fight even many wielders of the thunderbolt.)
I possess many excellent and divine weapons, by which I could even fight many wielders of the thunderbolt.
धनुर्मे नास्ति भगवन्बाहुवीर्येण संमितम्। कुर्वतः समरे यत्नं वेगं यद्विषहेत मे ॥१-२१५-१४॥

(Bow my does not exist, O Lord, by the strength of (my) arm equal; while exerting in battle effort force which could withstand my.)
O Lord, there is no bow equal to the strength of my arm; in battle, while exerting effort, there is no force which could withstand me.
शरैश्च मेऽर्थो बहुभिरक्षयैः क्षिप्रमस्यतः। न हि वोढुं रथः शक्तः शरान्मम यथेप्सितान् ॥१-२१५-१५॥
śaraiś ca me 'rtho bahubhir akṣayaiḥ kṣipram asyataḥ। na hi voḍhuṃ rathaḥ śaktaḥ śarān mama yathepsitān ॥1-215-15॥
[शरैः (śaraiḥ) - by arrows; च (ca) - and; मे (me) - my; अर्थः (arthaḥ) - purpose; बहुभिः (bahubhiḥ) - by many; अक्षयैः (akṣayaiḥ) - inexhaustible; क्षिप्रम् (kṣipram) - quickly; अस्यतः (asyataḥ) - shooting; न (na) - not; हि (hi) - indeed; वोढुम् (voḍhum) - to bear; रथः (rathaḥ) - chariot; शक्तः (śaktaḥ) - capable; शरान् (śarān) - arrows; मम (mama) - my; यथ (yath) - as; इप्सितान् (ipsitān) - desired;]
(By arrows and my purpose, by many inexhaustible (arrows), quickly shooting; not indeed to bear the chariot is capable (of) arrows my as desired.)
By my many inexhaustible arrows, quickly shot, the chariot is not indeed capable of bearing as many arrows as I desire.
अश्वांश्च दिव्यानिच्छेयं पाण्डुरान्वातरंहसः। रथं च मेघनिर्घोषं सूर्यप्रतिमतेजसम् ॥१-२१५-१६॥
aśvāṁś ca divyān iccheyaṁ pāṇḍurān vātaraṁhasaḥ। rathaṁ ca meghanirghoṣaṁ sūryapratimatejasam ॥1-215-16॥
[अश्वान् (aśvān) - horses; (accusative plural) च (ca) - and; दिव्यान् (divyān) - divine; (accusative plural) इच्छेयं (iccheyaṁ) - I would desire; पाण्डुरान् (pāṇḍurān) - white; (accusative plural) वात-रंहसः (vāta-raṁhasaḥ) - wind-swift; (compound, accusative plural) रथम् (ratham) - chariot; (accusative singular) च (ca) - and; मेघ-निर्घोषम् (megha-nirghoṣam) - cloud-thundering; (compound, accusative singular) सूर्य-प्रतिम-तेजसम् (sūrya-pratima-tejasam) - sun-equal-radiance; (compound, accusative singular);]
(Horses and divine ones I would desire, white, wind-swift; and a chariot, cloud-thundering, sun-equal in radiance.)
I desire divine horses, white and swift as the wind, and a chariot that thunders like a cloud and shines with the brilliance of the sun.
तथा कृष्णस्य वीर्येण नायुधं विद्यते समम्। येन नागान्पिशाचांश्च निहन्यान्माधवो रणे ॥१-२१५-१७॥
tathā kṛṣṇasya vīryeṇa nāyudhaṃ vidyate samam। yena nāgān piśācāṃś ca nihanyān mādhavo raṇe ॥1-215-17॥
[तथा (tathā) - in that manner; कृष्णस्य (kṛṣṇasya) - of Kṛṣṇa; वीर्येण (vīryeṇa) - by the strength; न (na) - not; आयुधं (āyudham) - weapon; विद्यते (vidyate) - exists; समम् (samam) - equal; येन (yena) - by whom; नागान् (nāgān) - serpents; पिशाचान् (piśācān) - demons; च (ca) - and; निहन्यात् (nihanyāt) - could slay; माधवः (mādhavaḥ) - Mādhava (Kṛṣṇa); रणे (raṇe) - in battle;]
(In that manner, by the strength of Kṛṣṇa, there exists no weapon equal, by which Mādhava (Kṛṣṇa) could slay serpents and demons in battle.)
Likewise, by the strength of Kṛṣṇa, there is no weapon equal to his, by which Mādhava could slay serpents and demons in battle.
उपायं कर्मणः सिद्धौ भगवन्वक्तुमर्हसि। निवारयेयं येनेन्द्रं वर्षमाणं महावने ॥१-२१५-१८॥
upāyaṃ karmaṇaḥ siddhau bhagavan vaktum arhasi। nivārayeyaṃ yena indraṃ varṣamāṇaṃ mahāvane ॥1-215-18॥
[उपायं (upāyam) - means; कर्मणः (karmaṇaḥ) - of the act; सिद्धौ (siddhau) - for accomplishment; भगवन् (bhagavan) - O revered one; वक्तुम् (vaktum) - to speak; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you ought; निवारयेयम् (nivārayeyam) - I may restrain; येन (yena) - by which; इन्द्रम् (indram) - Indra; वर्षमाणम् (varṣamāṇam) - raining; महावने (mahāvane) - in the great forest;]
(O revered one, you ought to speak the means for accomplishment of the act, by which I may restrain Indra who is raining in the great forest.)
O revered one, please tell me the means by which I may accomplish the act of restraining Indra, who is causing rain in the great forest.
पौरुषेण तु यत्कार्यं तत्कर्तारौ स्व पावक। करणानि समर्थानि भगवन्दातुमर्हसि ॥१-२१५-१९॥
pauruṣeṇa tu yat kāryaṃ tat kartārau sva pāvaka। karaṇāni samarthāni bhagavan dātum arhasi ॥1-215-19॥
[पौरुषेण (pauruṣeṇa) - by manliness; by courage; तु (tu) - but; यत् (yat) - which; कार्यं (kāryam) - to be done; action; तत् (tat) - that; कर्तारौ (kartārau) - the two doers; agents; स्व (sva) - own; your; पावक (pāvaka) - O Pāvaka (Agni, Fire); करणानि (karaṇāni) - instruments; means; समर्थानि (samarthāni) - capable; competent; भगवन् (bhagavan) - O Lord; दातुम् (dātum) - to give; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you are worthy; you ought; ॥१-२१५-१९॥ (॥1-215-19॥) -;]
(But by manliness, whatever action is to be done, those two doers, O Pāvaka, your own, the means capable, O Lord, you ought to give.)
O Pāvaka (Agni), by courage, whatever is to be accomplished, your two agents, being capable, O Lord, you ought to provide the necessary means.
