Pancharatra: Vidura comes to Pandavas and gives his advice.

पाण्डवास्तु वने वासमुद्दिश्य भरतर्षभाः। प्रययुर्जाह्नवीकूलात्कुरुक्षेत्रं सहानुगाः ॥३-६-१॥
pāṇḍavās tu vane vāsaṃ uddiśya bharatarṣabhāḥ। prayayur jāhnavī-kūlāt kurukṣetraṃ sahānugāḥ ॥3-6-1॥
[पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - the sons of Pāṇḍu; तु (tu) - but; वने (vane) - in the forest; वासम् (vāsaṃ) - residence; उद्दिश्य (uddiśya) - having aimed at; भरतर्षभाः (bharatarṣabhāḥ) - the best among the Bharatas; प्रययुः (prayayur) - departed; जाह्नवीकूलात् (jāhnavī-kūlāt) - from the bank of the Jāhnavī (Gaṅgā); कुरुक्षेत्रम् (kurukṣetram) - Kurukṣetra; सह (saha) - together with; अनुगाः (anugāḥ) - followers;]
(The sons of Pāṇḍu, but, in the forest, residence, having aimed at, the best among the Bharatas, departed from the bank of the Jāhnavī, Kurukṣetra, together with followers.)
But the sons of Pāṇḍu, the best among the Bharatas, having set their residence in the forest as their aim, departed from the bank of the Jāhnavī (Gaṅgā) to Kurukṣetra along with their followers. (3-6-1)
सरस्वतीदृषद्वत्यौ यमुनां च निषेव्य ते। ययुर्वनेनैव वनं सततं पश्चिमां दिशम् ॥३-६-२॥
sarasvatī-dṛṣadvatyau yamunāṃ ca niṣevya te। yayur vanenaiva vanaṃ satataṃ paścimāṃ diśam ॥3-6-2॥
[सरस्वती (sarasvatī) - Sarasvatī (river); दृषद्वत्यौ (dṛṣadvatyau) - and Dṛṣadvatī (river); यमुनां (yamunām) - Yamunā (river); च (ca) - and; निषेव्य (niṣevya) - having frequented; ते (te) - they; ययुः (yayuḥ) - went; वनेन (vanena) - through the forest; एव (eva) - indeed; वनं (vanaṃ) - forest; सततं (satataṃ) - always; पश्चिमां (paścimāṃ) - western; दिशम् (diśam) - direction;]
(Sarasvatī and Dṛṣadvatī (rivers), and Yamunā having frequented, they went through the forest indeed, always (towards) the western direction.)
Having visited the Sarasvatī, Dṛṣadvatī, and Yamunā rivers, they continually journeyed through the forest towards the west. (3-6-2)
ततः सरस्वतीकूले समेषु मरुधन्वसु। काम्यकं नाम ददृशुर्वनं मुनिजनप्रियम् ॥३-६-३॥
tataḥ sarasvatīkūle sameṣu marudhanvasu। kāmyakaṃ nāma dadṛśur vanaṃ munijana-priyam ॥3-6-3॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; सरस्वतीकूले (sarasvatīkūle) - on the bank of the Sarasvatī; समेषु (sameṣu) - in the level (places); मरुधन्वसु (marudhanvasu) - in the sandy deserts; काम्यकं (kāmyakam) - Kāmyaka; नाम (nāma) - by name; ददृशुः (dadṛśuḥ) - they saw; वनम् (vanam) - forest; मुनिजनप्रियम् (munijana-priyam) - dear to the sages;]
(Then, on the bank of the Sarasvatī, in the level sandy deserts, they saw the forest named Kāmyaka, dear to the sages.)
Then, on the banks of the Sarasvatī, in the level sandy deserts, they saw the Kāmyaka forest, beloved of the sages. (3-6-3)
तत्र ते न्यवसन्वीरा वने बहुमृगद्विजे। अन्वास्यमाना मुनिभिः सान्त्व्यमानाश्च भारत ॥३-६-४॥
tatra te nyavasan vīrā vane bahu-mṛga-dvije। anvāsyamānā munibhiḥ sāntvyamānāś ca bhārata ॥3-6-4॥
[तत्र (tatra) - there; ते (te) - they; न्यवसन् (nyavasan) - dwelt; वीराः (vīrāḥ) - heroes; वने (vane) - in the forest; बहु (bahu) - many; मृग (mṛga) - animals; द्विजे (dvije) - and birds; अन्वास्यमानाः (anvāsyamānāḥ) - being accompanied; मुनिभिः (munibhiḥ) - by sages; सान्त्व्यमानाः (sāntvyamānāḥ) - being consoled; च (ca) - and; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata;]
(There they, the heroes, dwelt in the forest with many animals and birds, being accompanied by sages and being consoled, O Bhārata.)
There, O Bhārata, the heroes dwelt in the forest abounding in many animals and birds, accompanied and consoled by sages. (3-6-4)
विदुरस्त्वपि पाण्डूनां तदा दर्शनलालसः। जगामैकरथेनैव काम्यकं वनमृद्धिमत् ॥३-६-५॥
viduras tv api pāṇḍūnāṃ tadā darśanalālasaḥ। jagāmaikarathenaiva kāmyakaṃ vanam ṛddhimat ॥3-6-5॥
[विदुरः (viduraḥ) - Vidura; (name of a person); तु (tu) - but; however; अपि (api) - also; even; पाण्डूनाम् (pāṇḍūnām) - of the Pāṇḍavas; तदा (tadā) - then; at that time; दर्शनलालसः (darśanalālasaḥ) - eager to see; longing for a meeting; जगाम (jagāma) - went; proceeded; एकरथेन (ekarathena) - by a single chariot; एव (eva) - indeed; only; काम्यकम् (kāmyakam) - Kāmyaka; (name of the forest); वनम् (vanam) - forest; ऋद्धिमत् (ṛddhimat) - prosperous; abundant;]
(Vidura, however, also, of the Pāṇḍavas, then, eager to see, went, by a single chariot, indeed, Kāmyaka, forest, prosperous.)
However, Vidura, also longing to see the Pāṇḍavas, then went by a single chariot to the prosperous Kāmyaka forest. (3-6-5)
ततो यात्वा विदुरः काननं त; च्छीघ्रैरश्वैर्वाहिना स्यन्दनेन। ददर्शासीनं धर्मराजं विविक्ते; सार्धं द्रौपद्या भ्रातृभिर्ब्राह्मणैश्च ॥३-६-६॥
tato yātvā viduraḥ kānanaṃ ta; chchīghrairaśvairvāhinā syandanena. dadarśāsīnaṃ dharmarājaṃ vivikte; sārdhaṃ draupadyā bhrātṛbhirbrāhmaṇaiśca ॥3-6-6॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; यात्वा (yātvā) - having gone; विदुरः (viduraḥ) - Vidura; काननं (kānanam) - forest; च्छीघ्रैः (chchīghraiḥ) - with swift; अश्वैः (aśvaiḥ) - horses; वाहिना (vāhinā) - by the vehicle; स्यन्दनेन (syandanena) - by the chariot; ददर्श (dadarśa) - he saw; आसीनं (āsīnam) - seated; धर्मराजं (dharmarājam) - Dharmarāja; विविक्ते (vivikte) - in a secluded; सार्धं (sārdham) - together with; द्रौपद्या (draupadyā) - Draupadī; भ्रातृभिः (bhrātṛbhiḥ) - with brothers; ब्राह्मणैः (brāhmaṇaiḥ) - with Brāhmaṇas; च (ca) - and;]
(Then, having gone, Vidura, with swift horses by the vehicle, by the chariot, saw Dharmarāja seated in a secluded place, together with Draupadī, with brothers, and with Brāhmaṇas.)
Then Vidura, having traveled to the forest quickly by chariot drawn by swift horses, saw Dharmarāja sitting in a secluded place together with Draupadī, his brothers, and Brāhmaṇas. (3-6-6)
ततोऽपश्यद्विदुरं तूर्णमारा; दभ्यायान्तं सत्यसन्धः स राजा। अथाब्रवीद्भ्रातरं भीमसेनं; किं नु क्षत्ता वक्ष्यति नः समेत्य ॥३-६-७॥
tato'paśyad viduraṃ tūrṇam ārād abhyāyāntaṃ satyasandhaḥ sa rājā. athābravīd bhrātaraṃ bhīmasenaṃ; kiṃ nu kṣattā vakṣyati naḥ sametya ॥3-6-7॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; अपश्यत् (apaśyat) - saw; विदुरम् (viduram) - Vidura; तूर्णम् (tūrṇam) - quickly; आरा (ārāt) - from a distance; अभ्यायान्तम् (abhyāyāntam) - approaching; सत्यसन्धः (satyasandhaḥ) - truthful; स (sa) - that; राजा (rājā) - king; अथ (atha) - then; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said; भ्रातरम् (bhrātaram) - to brother; भीमसेनम् (bhīmasenam) - Bhīmasena; किम् (kim) - what; नु (nu) - indeed; क्षत्ता (kṣattā) - the minister; वक्ष्यति (vakṣyati) - will say; नः (naḥ) - to us; समेत्य (sametya) - having come;]
(Then the truthful king saw Vidura quickly approaching from a distance. Then he said to his brother Bhīmasena, "What indeed will the minister say to us, having come?" (3-6-7))
Then the truthful king saw Vidura quickly approaching from afar. He said to his brother Bhīmasena, "What do you think the minister will say to us when he arrives?" (3-6-7)
कच्चिन्नायं वचनात्सौबलस्य; समाह्वाता देवनायोपयाति। कच्चित्क्षुद्रः शकुनिर्नायुधानि; जेष्यत्यस्मान्पुनरेवाक्षवत्याम् ॥३-६-८॥
kaccinnāyaṃ vacanātsaubalasya; samāhvātā devanāyopayāti. kaccitkṣudraḥ śakunirnāyudhāni; jeṣyatyasmānpunarevākṣavatyām ॥3-6-8॥
[कच्चित् (kaccit) - whether; न (na) - not; अयम् (ayam) - this; वचनात् (vacanāt) - from the word; सौबलस्य (saubalasya) - of Saubala (son of Subala, i.e., Shakuni); समाह्वाता (samāhvātā) - summoned; देवनाय (devanāya) - for the game; उपयाति (upayāti) - approaches; कच्चित् (kaccit) - whether; क्षुद्रः (kṣudraḥ) - mean; शकुनिः (śakuniḥ) - Shakuni; न (na) - not; आयुधानि (āyudhāni) - weapons; जेष्यति (jeṣyati) - will defeat; अस्मान् (asmān) - us; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; एव (eva) - indeed; अक्षवत्याम् (akṣavatyām) - in the dice-game;]
(Whether not this from the word of Saubala; summoned for the game approaches. Whether mean Shakuni not weapons will defeat us again indeed in the dice-game (3-6-8).)
Is it not so that, at the word of Saubala, he comes when summoned for the game? Will the mean Shakuni again defeat us, not with weapons, but in the dice-game? (3-6-8)
समाहूतः केनचिदाद्रवेति; नाहं शक्तो भीमसेनापयातुम्। गाण्डीवे वा संशयिते कथं चि; द्राज्यप्राप्तिः संशयिता भवेन्नः ॥३-६-९॥
samāhūtaḥ kenacid ādraveti; nāhaṃ śakto bhīmasenāpayātum। gāṇḍīve vā saṃśayite kathaṃ ci; drājyaprāptiḥ saṃśayitā bhaven naḥ ॥3-6-9॥
[समाहूतः (samāhūtaḥ) - summoned; केनचित् (kenacit) - by someone; आद्रवेत् (ādravet) - should flee; न (na) - not; अहम् (aham) - I; शक्तः (śaktaḥ) - able; भीमसेनापयातुम् (bhīmasenāpayātum) - to escape from Bhīmasena; गाण्डीवे (gāṇḍīve) - in the bow Gāṇḍīva; वा (vā) - or; संशयिते (saṃśayite) - if there is doubt; कथं चित् (kathaṃ cit) - in any way; द्राज्यप्राप्तिः (drājyaprāptiḥ) - attainment of kingdom; संशयिता (saṃśayitā) - is doubtful; भवेत् (bhavet) - may be; नः (naḥ) - for us;]
(Summoned by someone, should flee; I am not able to escape from Bhīmasena. If there is doubt in the bow Gāṇḍīva in any way, the attainment of the kingdom may be doubtful for us.)
If someone summoned me to flee, I am not able to escape from Bhīmasena. If there is any doubt about Gāṇḍīva, then our attainment of the kingdom may be in doubt. (3-6-9)
तत उत्थाय विदुरं पाण्डवेयाः; प्रत्यगृह्णन्नृपते सर्व एव। तैः सत्कृतः स च तानाजमीढो; यथोचितं पाण्डुपुत्रान्समेयात् ॥३-६-१०॥
tat utthāya viduraṃ pāṇḍaveyāḥ; pratyagṛhṇan nṛpate sarva eva। taiḥ satkṛtaḥ sa ca tān ājamīḍhaḥ; yathocitaṃ pāṇḍuputrān sameyāt ॥3-6-10॥
[तत् (tat) - then; उत्थाय (utthāya) - having risen; विदुरम् (viduram) - Vidura; पाण्डवेयाः (pāṇḍaveyāḥ) - the sons of Pandu; प्रत्यगृह्णन् (pratyagṛhṇan) - received; ऋपते (nṛpate) - O king; सर्व एव (sarva eva) - all indeed; तैः (taiḥ) - by them; सत्कृतः (satkṛtaḥ) - honored; स (sa) - he; च (ca) - and; तान् (tān) - them; आजमीढः (ājamīḍhaḥ) - descendant of Ajamīḍha; यथोचितम् (yathocitam) - as appropriate; पाण्डुपुत्रान् (pāṇḍuputrān) - the sons of Pandu; समेयात् (sameyāt) - met;]
(Then, having risen, the sons of Pandu received Vidura, O king, all indeed. By them honored, he, the descendant of Ajamīḍha, also met the sons of Pandu as appropriate.)
Then, the sons of Pandu all rose and received Vidura, O king. Honored by them, the descendant of Ajamīḍha (Vidura) met the sons of Pandu in the proper manner. (3-6-10)
समाश्वस्तं विदुरं ते नरर्षभा; स्ततोऽपृच्छन्नागमनाय हेतुम्। स चापि तेभ्यो विस्तरतः शशंस; यथावृत्तो धृतराष्ट्रोऽऽम्बिकेयः ॥३-६-११॥
samāśvastaṃ viduraṃ te nararṣabhāḥ; stato'pṛcchannāgamanāya hetum. sa cāpi tebhyo vistarataḥ śaśaṃsa; yathāvṛtto dhṛtarāṣṭro''mbikeyaḥ ॥3-6-11॥
[समाश्वस्तम् (samāśvastam) - completely reassured; विदुरम् (viduram) - Vidura; ते (te) - they; नरर्षभाः (nararṣabhāḥ) - bulls among men; स्ततः (stataḥ) - then; अपृच्छन् (apṛcchan) - asked; आगमनाय (āgamanāya) - for the coming; हेतुम् (hetum) - reason; सः (saḥ) - he; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; तेभ्यः (tebhyaḥ) - to them; विस्तरतः (vistarataḥ) - in detail; शशंस (śaśaṃsa) - explained; यथावृत्तः (yathāvṛttaḥ) - as had happened; धृतराष्ट्रः (dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ) - Dhritarashtra; अम्बिकेयः (ambikeyaḥ) - son of Ambika;]
(Completely reassured Vidura, they, bulls among men, then asked the reason for his coming. He also explained to them in detail as had happened regarding Dhritarashtra, the son of Ambika.)
After Vidura was completely reassured, those foremost among men asked him the reason for his arrival. He then explained to them in detail all that had happened concerning Dhritarashtra, the son of Ambika. (3-6-11)

अवोचन्मां धृतराष्ट्रोऽनुगुप्त; मजातशत्रो परिगृह्याभिपूज्य। एवं गते समतामभ्युपेत्य; पथ्यं तेषां मम चैव ब्रवीहि ॥३-६-१२॥
avocan māṃ dhṛtarāṣṭro'nugupta; majātaśatro parigṛhyābhipūjya. evaṃ gate samatām abhyupetya; pathyaṃ teṣāṃ mama caiva bravīhi ॥3-6-12॥
[अवोचन् (avocan) - they spoke; माम् (mām) - to me; धृतराष्ट्रः (dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ) - Dhritarashtra; अनुगुप्त (anugupta) - protected; मजातशत्रो (ma-jāta-śatro) - O one whose enemies are born with you; परिगृह्य (parigṛhya) - having embraced; अभिपूज्य (abhipūjya) - having honored; एवं (evaṃ) - thus; गते (gate) - having occurred; समताम् (samatām) - equanimity; अभ्युपेत्य (abhyupetya) - having attained; पथ्यम् (pathyam) - wholesome; तेषाम् (teṣām) - for them; मम (mama) - for me; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; ब्रवीहि (bravīhi) - speak; ३-६-१२ (3-6-12) - (3-6-12);]
(They spoke to me, Dhritarashtra, protected, O one whose enemies are born with you, having embraced and honored. Thus, when this had occurred, having attained equanimity, speak what is wholesome for them and for me indeed. (3-6-12))
Dhritarashtra, having protected me, O you whose enemies are born with you, embraced and honored me and spoke to me. Thus, when this had happened and equanimity was attained, tell what is beneficial for both them and me. (3-6-12)
मयाप्युक्तं यत्क्षमं कौरवाणां; हितं पथ्यं धृतराष्ट्रस्य चैव। तद्वै पथ्यं तन्मनो नाभ्युपैति; ततश्चाहं क्षममन्यन्न मन्ये ॥३-६-१३॥
mayāpyuktaṃ yat kṣamaṃ kauravāṇāṃ; hitaṃ pathyaṃ dhṛtarāṣṭrasya caiva। tad vai pathyaṃ tan mano nābhyupaiti; tataś cāhaṃ kṣamam anyan na manye ॥3-6-13॥
[मया (mayā) - by me; अपि (api) - also; उक्तं (uktaṃ) - spoken; यत् (yat) - which; क्षमं (kṣamam) - proper; कौरवाणां (kauravāṇām) - of the Kauravas; हितं (hitaṃ) - beneficial; पथ्यं (pathyaṃ) - wholesome; धृतराष्ट्रस्य (dhṛtarāṣṭrasya) - of Dhritarashtra; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; तत् (tat) - that; वै (vai) - indeed; पथ्यं (pathyaṃ) - wholesome; तत् (tat) - that; मनः (manaḥ) - mind; न (na) - not; अभ्युपैति (abhyupaiti) - accepts; ततः (tataḥ) - therefore; च (ca) - and; अहम् (aham) - I; क्षमम् (kṣamam) - proper; अन्यत् (anyat) - other; न (na) - not; मन्‍ये (manye) - think;]
(By me also spoken which is proper for the Kauravas; beneficial, wholesome for Dhritarashtra indeed. That indeed wholesome, that mind does not accept; therefore and I proper other not think (I do not think anything else proper).)
Even what I have spoken, which is proper for the Kauravas, beneficial and wholesome for Dhritarashtra, that wholesome advice his mind does not accept; therefore, I do not consider anything else as proper. (3-6-13)
परं श्रेयः पाण्डवेया मयोक्तं; न मे तच्च श्रुतवानाम्बिकेयः। यथातुरस्येव हि पथ्यमन्नं; न रोचते स्मास्य तदुच्यमानम् ॥३-६-१४॥
paraṃ śreyaḥ pāṇḍaveyā mayoktaṃ; na me tacca śrutavānambikeyaḥ. yathāturasyeva hi pathyamannaṃ; na rocate smāsya taducyamānam ॥3-6-14॥
[परम् (param) - supreme; highest; श्रेयः (śreyaḥ) - good; welfare; पाण्डवेयाः (pāṇḍaveyāḥ) - the sons of Pāṇḍu; मया (mayā) - by me; उक्तम् (uktam) - spoken; said; न (na) - not; मे (me) - by me; to me; तत् (tat) - that; च (ca) - and; श्रुतवान् (śrutavān) - having heard; अम्बिकेयः (ambikeyaḥ) - son of Ambikā; यथा (yathā) - just as; अतुरस्य (aturasya) - of the sick person; इव (iva) - like; as if; हि (hi) - indeed; पथ्यम् (pathyam) - wholesome; beneficial; अन्नम् (annam) - food; न (na) - not; रोचते (rocate) - pleases; is agreeable; स्म (sma) - indeed; अस्य (asya) - to him; of him; तत् (tat) - that; उच्यमानम् (ucyamānam) - being spoken; being told;]
(The supreme good was spoken by me to the sons of Pāṇḍu; but Ambikeya, having heard it, did not accept it. Just as wholesome food does not please a sick person, so too, what was being told did not please him.)
I spoke of the highest good to the sons of Pāṇḍu, but Ambikeya, though he heard it, did not accept it. Just as wholesome food does not appeal to a sick man, so too, what was being said did not please him. (3-6-14)
न श्रेयसे नीयतेऽजातशत्रो; स्त्री श्रोत्रियस्येव गृहे प्रदुष्टा। ब्रुवन्न रुच्यै भरतर्षभस्य; पतिः कुमार्या इव षष्टिवर्षः ॥३-६-१५॥
na śreyase nīyate'jātaśatro; strī śrotriyasyeva gṛhe praduṣṭā| bruvanna rucyai bharatarṣabhasya; patiḥ kumāryā iva ṣaṣṭivarṣaḥ ||3-6-15||
[न (na) - not; श्रेयसे (śreyase) - for good; for benefit; नीयते (nīyate) - is led; is brought; अजातशत्रो (ajātaśatro) - O Ajātaśatru (one whose enemy is not born, epithet of Yudhiṣṭhira); स्त्री (strī) - a woman; श्रोत्रियस्य (śrotriyasya) - of a learned Brāhmaṇa; इव (iva) - like; as; गृहे (gṛhe) - in the house; प्रदुष्टा (praduṣṭā) - corrupted; spoiled; ब्रुवन् (bruvan) - speaking; saying; न (na) - not; रुच्यै (rucyai) - for pleasure; for liking; भरतर्षभस्य (bharatarṣabhasya) - of the bull among the Bharatas (epithet of Yudhiṣṭhira); पतिः (patiḥ) - husband; कुमार्या (kumāryā) - of a maiden; of a young girl; इव (iva) - like; as; षष्टिवर्षः (ṣaṣṭivarṣaḥ) - sixty years old;]
(Not for good is one led, O Ajātaśatru; a woman corrupted in the house of a learned Brāhmaṇa. Speaking not for pleasure, O bull among the Bharatas; a husband sixty years old like (the husband) of a maiden.)
O Ajātaśatru, this does not lead to good; just as a woman corrupted in the house of a learned Brāhmaṇa, or a husband sixty years old for a young maiden, is not pleasing, so too is one who speaks without care, O bull among the Bharatas. (3-6-15)
ध्रुवं विनाशो नृप कौरवाणां; न वै श्रेयो धृतराष्ट्रः परैति। यथा पर्णे पुष्करस्येव सिक्तं; जलं न तिष्ठेत्पथ्यमुक्तं तथास्मिन् ॥३-६-१६॥
dhruvaṃ vināśo nṛpa kauravāṇāṃ; na vai śreyo dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ paraiti. yathā parṇe puṣkarasyeva siktaṃ; jalaṃ na tiṣṭhet pathyam uktaṃ tathāsmin ॥3-6-16॥

(Certain is the destruction, O king, of the Kauravas; not indeed does Dhritarashtra attain good. Just as water sprinkled on the leaf of a lotus does not remain, so the wholesome advice spoken does not remain in this (case).)
O king, the destruction of the Kauravas is certain; Dhritarashtra will not attain any good. Just as water does not stay on a lotus leaf, so too does wholesome advice not remain here. (3-6-16)
ततः क्रुद्धो धृतराष्ट्रोऽब्रवीन्मां; यत्र श्रद्धा भारत तत्र याहि। नाहं भूयः कामये त्वां सहायं; महीमिमां पालयितुं पुरं वा ॥३-६-१७॥
tataḥ kruddho dhṛtarāṣṭro'bravīnmāṃ; yatra śraddhā bhārata tatra yāhi। nāhaṃ bhūyaḥ kāmaye tvāṃ sahāyaṃ; mahīmimāṃ pālayituṃ puraṃ vā ॥3-6-17॥

(He, I, abandoned by Dhṛtarāṣṭra, O king, have approached you to instruct, with haste. That indeed all which by me spoken in the assembly, let that be borne, which I shall declare again. (3-6-18))
O king, I, who have been abandoned by Dhṛtarāṣṭra, have come to you in haste to instruct you. Therefore, whatever I have spoken in the assembly, let that be borne in mind, for I shall declare it again. (3-6-18)
क्लेशैस्तीव्रैर्युज्यमानः सपत्नैः; क्षमां कुर्वन्कालमुपासते यः। सं वर्धयन्स्तोकमिवाग्निमात्मवा; न्स वै भुङ्क्ते पृथिवीमेक एव ॥३-६-१९॥

(Who, being engaged by intense afflictions from rivals, practicing forbearance, waits for time; increasing together, like a little fire, being self-possessed—he indeed alone enjoys the earth.)
He who, though beset by severe hardships from rivals, practices forbearance and waits for the right time, gradually increasing his strength like a small fire, being self-controlled—he alone truly enjoys the earth. (3-6-19)
यस्याविभक्तं वसु राजन्सहायै; स्तस्य दुःखेऽप्यंशभाजः सहायाः। सहायानामेष सङ्ग्रहणेऽभ्युपायः; सहायाप्तौ पृथिवीप्राप्तिमाहुः ॥३-६-२०॥

(Of whom the wealth is undivided with companions, O king; his companions are sharers of a portion even in distress. This is the means in gathering companions; in acquiring companions, they say, is the acquisition of the earth. (3-6-20))

सत्यं श्रेष्ठं पाण्डव निष्प्रलापं; तुल्यं चान्नं सह भोज्यं सहायैः। आत्मा चैषामग्रतो नातिवर्ते; देवंवृत्तिर्वर्धते भूमिपालः ॥३-६-२१॥

(Truth, excellent, O Pāṇḍava, free from idle talk; equal and food together to be eaten with companions. The self of these in front does not surpass; divine conduct increases, the king. (3-6-21))
O Pāṇḍava, truthfulness, excellence, and absence of idle talk; equal food shared together with companions. The leader does not place himself ahead of them; the king's conduct becomes divine. (3-6-21)

(Thus I shall do as you say; having approached the supreme intellect, not careless. And whatever else is befitting the place and time, that indeed is to be spoken; that I shall do entirely.)
I will act exactly as you instruct; with utmost care and after consulting the highest wisdom. Whatever else is appropriate to the place and time, that too I will say and do in full. (3-6-22)
