te tathā sahitā vīrā vasantas tatra tatra ha। krameṇa pṛthivī-pālā naimiṣāraṇyam āgatāḥ ॥03-93-1॥

(They thus, together, heroes, abiding here and there indeed, in order, protectors of the earth, to Naimisharanya, arrived.)
Thus, those heroes assembled together, dwelling here and there, the protectors of the earth, gradually arrived at Naimisharanya. (03-93-1)
ततस्तीर्थेषु पुण्येषु गोमत्याः पाण्डवा नृप। कृताभिषेकाः प्रददुर्गाश्च वित्तं च भारत ॥०३-९३-२॥

तपस्विजनजुष्टां च ततो वेदीं प्रजापतेः। जग्मुः पाण्डुसुता राजन्ब्राह्मणैः सह भारत ॥०३-९३-७॥
tapasvijana-juṣṭāṁ ca tato vedīṁ prajāpateḥ। jagmuḥ pāṇḍusutā rājan brāhmaṇaiḥ saha bhārata॥03-93-7॥

तत्र ते न्यवसन्वीरास्तपश्चातस्थुरुत्तमम्। सन्तर्पयन्तः सततं वन्येन हविषा द्विजान् ॥०३-९३-८॥
tatra te nyavasan vīrās tapaḥ ca atasthuḥ uttamam। santarpayantaḥ satatam vanyena haviṣā dvijān॥03-93-8॥

ततो महीधरं जग्मुर्धर्मज्ञेनाभिसत्कृतम्। राजर्षिणा पुण्यकृता गयेनानुपमद्युते ॥०३-९३-९॥
tato mahīdharam jagmur dharmajñenābhisatkṛtam। rājarṣiṇā puṇyakṛtā gayenānupamadyute॥03-93-9॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; महीधरम् (mahīdharam) - to the mountain; जग्मुः (jagmuḥ) - they went; धर्मज्ञेन (dharmajñena) - by the knower of dharma; अभिसत्कृतम् (abhisatkṛtam) - honored; राजर्षिणा (rājarṣiṇā) - by the royal sage; पुण्यकृता (puṇyakṛtā) - by the meritorious act; गयेन (gayena) - by Gaya; अनुपमद्युते (anupamadyute) - with incomparable splendor;]

सरो गयशिरो यत्र पुण्या चैव महानदी। ऋषिजुष्टं सुपुण्यं तत्तीर्थं ब्रह्मसरोत्तमम् ॥०३-९३-१०॥
saro gayaśiro yatra puṇyā caiva mahānadī. ṛṣijuṣṭaṃ supuṇyaṃ tattīrthaṃ brahmasarottamam ॥03-93-10॥
[सरो (saraḥ) - lake; गयशिरो (gayaśiraḥ) - Gayaśira (name of a sacred place); यत्र (yatra) - where; पुण्या (puṇyā) - (the) virtuous (one); च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; महानदी (mahānadī) - great river; ऋषिजुष्टं (ṛṣijuṣṭam) - enjoyed by sages; सुपुण्यं (supuṇyam) - very virtuous; तत् तीर्थं (tat tīrtham) - that sacred place; ब्रह्मसरोत्तमम् (brahmasarottamam) - the best of Brahma’s lakes;]

अगस्त्यो भगवान्यत्र गतो वैवस्वतं प्रति। उवास च स्वयं यत्र धर्मो राजन्सनातनः ॥०३-९३-११॥

तत्र ते पाण्डवा वीराश्चातुर्मास्यैस्तदेजिरे। ऋषियज्ञेन महता यत्राक्षयवटो महान् ॥०३-९३-१३॥

ब्राह्मणास्तत्र शतशः समाजग्मुस्तपोधनाः। चातुर्मास्येनायजन्त आर्षेण विधिना तदा ॥०३-९३-१४॥
brāhmaṇās tatra śataśaḥ samājagmus tapodhanāḥ। cāturmāsyenāyajanta ārṣeṇa vidhinā tadā॥03-93-14॥

यस्य यज्ञो बभूवेह बह्वन्नो बहुदक्षिणः। यत्रान्नपर्वता राजञ्शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः ॥०३-९३-१८॥
yasya yajño babhūveha bahv-anno bahu-dakṣiṇaḥ। yatrānna-parvatā rājan śataśo'tha sahasraśaḥ॥03-93-18॥

अहन्यहनि चाप्येतद्याचतां सम्प्रदीयते। अन्यत्तु ब्राह्मणा राजन्भुञ्जतेऽन्नं सुसंस्कृतम् ॥०३-९३-२०॥
ahany ahani cāpy etad yācatāṃ sampradīyate। anyat tu brāhmaṇā rājan bhuñjate 'nnaṃ susaṃskṛtam॥03-93-20॥
[अहन्यहनि (ahani ahani) - day by day; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; एतत् (etat) - this; याचताम् (yācatām) - of those who beg; सम्प्रदीयते (sampradīyate) - is given; अन्यत् (anyat) - other; तु (tu) - but; ब्राह्मणा (brāhmaṇāḥ) - Brahmins; राजन् (rājan) - O King; भुञ्जते (bhuñjate) - eat; अन्नम् (annam) - food; सुसंस्कृतम् (susaṃskṛtam) - well-prepared;]
(Day by day and also this is given to the beggars; but other well-prepared food the Brahmins, O King, eat.)
Day by day this (food) is given to the beggars, but the Brahmins, O King, eat separately well-prepared food. (03-93-20)
तत्र वै दक्षिणाकाले ब्रह्मघोषो दिवं गतः। न स्म प्रज्ञायते किञ्चिद्ब्रह्मशब्देन भारत ॥०३-९३-२१॥
tatra vai dakṣiṇākāle brahma-ghoṣo divaṃ gataḥ। na sma prajñāyate kiñcid brahmaśabdena bhārata॥03-93-21॥
[तत्र (tatra) - there; वै (vai) - verily; दक्षिणाकाले (dakṣiṇākāle) - at the southern time; ब्रह्मघोषः (brahma-ghoṣaḥ) - sound of Veda; दिवं (divaṃ) - to heaven; गतः (gataḥ) - gone; न (na) - not; स्म (sma) - indeed; प्रज्ञायते (prajñāyate) - is understood; किञ्चित् (kiñcit) - anything; ब्रह्मशब्देन (brahmaśabdena) - by the word Brahma (Veda-sound); भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata;]
(There verily at the southern time the sound of Veda has gone to heaven. Not indeed is anything understood by the word Brahma, O Bhārata.)
There, O Bhārata, at the time of the southern course, the Vedic sound ascended to heaven. Now, nothing at all is understood by the word 'Brahma' (Veda-sound).
पुण्येन चरता राजन्भूर्दिशः खं नभस्तथा। आपूर्णमासीच्छब्देन तदप्यासीन्महाद्भुतम् ॥०३-९३-२२॥
puṇyena caratā rājan bhūr diśaḥ khaṁ nabhas tathā। āpūrṇam āsīt śabdena tad api āsīn mahād-bhutam॥03-93-22॥
[पुण्येन (puṇyena) - by merit; by virtuous action; चरता (caratā) - by one moving; by one going; राजन् (rājan) - O king; भूः (bhūḥ) - earth; दिशः (diśaḥ) - quarters; directions; खं (kham) - sky; ether; नभः (nabhas) - atmosphere; sky; तथा (tathā) - likewise; so; आपूर्णम् (āpūrṇam) - filled; आसीत् (āsīt) - was; शब्देन (śabdena) - by sound; तदपि (tad api) - even that; that also; आसीन् (āsīn) - was; महाद्भुतम् (mahād-bhutam) - very wonderful; very marvellous;]
(By merit by moving O king the earth, directions, sky, and also atmosphere likewise were filled with sound—even that was very wonderful.)
O king, as you moved with virtue, the earth, quarters, sky, and atmosphere likewise were all filled with sound, and even that was most marvelous. (03-93-22)
तत्र स्म गाथा गायन्ति मनुष्या भरतर्षभ। अन्नपानैः शुभैस्तृप्ता देशे देशे सुवर्चसः ॥०३-९३-२३॥
tatra sma gāthā gāyanti manuṣyā bharatarṣabha। annapānaiḥ śubhaiḥ tṛptā deśe deśe suvarcasaḥ ॥03-93-23॥
[तत्र (tatra) (tatra) - there; स्म (sma) (sma) - indeed; गाथा (gāthā) (gāthā) - songs; गायन्ति (gāyanti) (gāyanti) - they sing; मनुष्या (manuṣyāḥ) (manuṣyāḥ) - men; humans; भरतर्षभ (bharatarṣabha) (bharatarṣabha) - O bull among Bharatas; अन्नपानैः (annapānaiḥ) (annapānaiḥ) - with food and drink; शुभैः (śubhaiḥ) (śubhaiḥ) - auspicious; तृप्ता (tṛptāḥ) (tṛptāḥ) - satisfied; देशे देशे (deśe deśe) (deśe deśe) - in each region; in every land; सुवर्चसः (suvarcasaḥ) (suvarcasaḥ) - radiant; splendid;]
(There indeed songs they sing men O bull among Bharatas; with auspicious food and drinks satisfied in each region radiant.)
O foremost among the Bharatas, there indeed, men sing songs; radiant and satisfied by auspicious food and drink in every region. (03-93-23)
गयस्य यज्ञे के त्वद्य प्राणिनो भोक्तुमीप्सवः। यत्र भोजनशिष्टस्य पर्वताः पञ्चविंशतिः ॥०३-९३-२४॥
gayasya yajñe ke tvadya prāṇino bhoktumīpsavaḥ। yatra bhojanaśiṣṭasya parvatāḥ pañcaviṃśatiḥ॥03-93-24॥
[गयस्य (gayasya) - of Gaya; यज्ञे (yajñe) - in the sacrifice; के (ke) - which; त्वद्य (tvadya) - today; प्राणिनः (prāṇinaḥ) - living beings; भोक्तुम् (bhoktum) - to eat; ईप्सवः (īpsavaḥ) - desiring; यत्र (yatra) - where; भोजनशिष्टस्य (bhojanaśiṣṭasya) - of the food left over; पर्वताः (parvatāḥ) - mountains; पञ्चविंशतिः (pañcaviṃśatiḥ) - twenty-five;]
(Of Gaya, in the sacrifice, which today living beings, to eat, desiring; where of the food left over, mountains (are) twenty-five.)
At Gaya's sacrifice, which living beings today desire to eat, there are twenty-five mountains of food leftovers. (03-93-24)
न स्म पूर्वे जनाश्चक्रुर्न करिष्यन्ति चापरे। गयो यदकरोद्यज्ञे राजर्षिरमितद्युतिः ॥०३-९३-२५॥
na sma pūrve janāścakrur na kariṣyanti cāpare. gayo yadakarodyajñe rājarṣiramitadyutiḥ ॥03-93-25॥
[न (na) - not; स्म (sma) - indeed; पूर्वे (pūrve) - former (people); जनाः (janāḥ) - men; people; चक्रुः (cakruḥ) - did; performed; न (na) - not; करिष्यन्ति (kariṣyanti) - will do; च (ca) - and; अपरे (apare) - others; गयः (gayaḥ) - Gaya (proper name); यत् (yat) - which; अकरोत् (akarot) - did; performed; यज्ञे (yajñe) - in the sacrifice; राजर्षि (rājarṣi) - royal sage; अमितद्युतिः (amitadyutiḥ) - of limitless splendor;]
(Not indeed the former men did, not will do and others, what Gaya did in sacrifice, the royal sage of limitless splendor.)
Neither the men of former times have done, nor will others do, what Gaya, the royal sage of immeasurable splendor, did in sacrifice. (03-93-25)
कथं नु देवा हविषा गयेन परितर्पिताः। पुनः शक्ष्यन्त्युपादातुमन्यैर्दत्तानि कानिचित् ॥०३-९३-२६॥
kathaṁ nu devā haviṣā gayena paritarpitāḥ। punaḥ śakṣyantyupādātum anyair dattāni kānicit॥03-93-26॥
[कथं (kathaṁ) - how; नु (nu) - indeed; देवा (devā) - gods; हविषा (haviṣā) - by the offering; गयेन (gayena) - by Gaya; परितर्पिताः (paritarpitāḥ) - have been fully satisfied; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; शक्ष्यन्ति (śakṣyanti) - will be able; उपादातुम् (upādātum) - to accept; अन्यैः (anyaiḥ) - by others; दत्तानि (dattāni) - given; कानिचित् (kānicit) - some (offerings);]
(How indeed the gods, having been fully satisfied by the offering by Gaya, will again be able to accept some offerings given by others?)
How, then, will the gods, who have been fully satisfied with the offering by Gaya, be able to accept any further offerings given by others? (03-93-26)
एवंविधाः सुबहवस्तस्य यज्ञे महात्मनः। बभूवुरस्य सरसः समीपे कुरुनन्दन ॥०३-९३-२७॥
evaṁ-vidhāḥ subahavaḥ tasya yajñe mahātmanaḥ। babhūvuḥ asya sarasaḥ samīpe kurunandana॥03-93-27॥
[एवंविधाः (evaṁ-vidhāḥ) - of such kind; such as these; सुबहवः (subahavaḥ) - many; numerous; तस्य (tasya) - of him; his; यज्ञे (yajñe) - in the sacrifice; महात्मनः (mahātmanaḥ) - of the great-souled (one); बभूवुः (babhūvuḥ) - became; were; अस्य (asya) - of him; his; सरसः (sarasaḥ) - of the lake; समीपे (samīpe) - near; in the vicinity; कुरुनन्दन (kurunandana) - O joy of the Kurus;]
(Of such kind, many, of him, in the sacrifice of the great-souled one, were, of him, near the lake, O joy of the Kurus.)
O joy of the Kurus, many such (wondrous things) were present at the sacrifice of that great-souled one, near his lake. (03-93-27)
