न वै निर्गुणमात्मानं मन्ये देवर्षिसत्तम। तथास्मि दुःखसन्तप्तो यथा नान्यो महीपतिः ॥०३-९२-१॥
na vai nirguṇam ātmānaṃ manye devarṣi-sattama। tathā asmi duḥkha-santaptaḥ yathā na anyaḥ mahī-patiḥ॥03-92-1॥
[न (na) - not; वै (vai) - indeed; निर्गुणम् (nirguṇam) - without qualities; आत्मानम् (ātmānam) - self; मन्ये (manye) - I think; देवर्षिसत्तम (devarṣi-sattama) - O best of divine rishis; तथा (tathā) - thus; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; दुःखसन्तप्तः (duḥkha-santaptaḥ) - tormented by sorrow; यथा (yathā) - as; न (na) - not; अन्यः (anyaḥ) - another; महीपतिः (mahīpatiḥ) - king;]
(Not indeed without qualities the self I think, O best of divine rishis. Thus I am tormented by sorrow as not another king.)
I do not think that my self is without qualities, O best of divine rishis. I am afflicted by sorrow as no other king is. (03-92-1)
परांश्च निर्गुणान्मन्ये न च धर्मरतानपि। ते च लोमश लोकेऽस्मिन्नृध्यन्ते केन केतुना ॥०३-९२-२॥
parāṁś ca nirguṇān manye na ca dharmaratān api। te ca lomaśa loke'smin nṛdhyante kena ketunā ॥03-92-2॥
[परान् (parān) - others; च (ca) - and; निर्गुणान् (nirguṇān) - devoid of qualities; मन््ये (manye) - I think; न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; धर्मरतान् (dharmaratān) - devoted to dharma; अपि (api) - even; ते (te) - they; च (ca) - and; लोमश (lomaśa) - Lomaśa; लोके (loke) - in the world; अस्मिन् (asmin) - in this; ऋध्यन्ते (nṛdhyante) - prosper; केन (kena) - by what; केतुना (ketunā) - sign;]
(Others also, I think, devoid of qualities, and not even devoted to dharma; they, too, O Lomaśa, in this world prosper, by what sign?)
Others as well, I think, who are devoid of qualities and not even devoted to dharma — how, O Lomaśa, do they prosper in this world, and by what means? (03-92-2)

नात्र दुःखं त्वया राजन्कार्यं पार्थ कथञ्चन। यदधर्मेण वर्धेरन्नधर्मरुचयो जनाः ॥०३-९२-३॥
nātra duḥkhaṃ tvayā rājan kāryaṃ pārtha kathaṃcana. yad adharmeṇa vardheran adharmarucayo janāḥ ॥03-92-3॥
[न (na) - not; अत्र (atra) - here; दुःखं (duḥkham) - sorrow; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; राजन् (rājan) - O king; कार्यं (kāryam) - should be made; पार्थ (pārtha) - O Pārtha; कथञ्चन (kathaṃcana) - in any way; यत् (yat) - that; अधर्मेण (adharmeṇa) - by unrighteousness; वर्धेरन् (vardheran) - may prosper; अधर्मरुचयः (adharmarucayaḥ) - those fond of adharma; जनाः (janāḥ) - people;]
(Not here sorrow by you, O king, should be made, O Pārtha, in any way; that by unrighteousness may prosper those fond of adharma people.)
O king, you should not grieve here in any way, O Pārtha, that people fond of unrighteousness may prosper by unrighteous means. (03-92-3)
वर्धत्यधर्मेण नरस्ततो भद्राणि पश्यति। ततः सपत्नाञ्जयति समूलस्तु विनश्यति ॥०३-९२-४॥
vardhaty adharmeṇa naras tato bhadrāṇi paśyati। tataḥ sapatnāñ jayati samūlas tu vinaśyati ॥03-92-4॥
[वर्धति (vardhati) - grows; prospers; अधर्मेण (adharmeṇa) - by unrighteousness; by injustice; नरः (naraḥ) - man; person; ततः (tataḥ) - then; after that; भद्राणि (bhadrāṇi) - good things; prosperities; पश्यति (paśyati) - sees; ततः (tataḥ) - then; सपत्नान् (sapatnān) - rivals; enemies; जयति (jayati) - conquers; defeats; समूलः (samūlaḥ) - with root; wholly; तु (tu) - but; विनश्यति (vinaśyati) - perishes; is destroyed;]
(A man grows by unrighteousness; then he sees good things. Then he conquers his rivals; but wholly he perishes.)
A man may prosper by unrighteousness and see good things, and then conquer his rivals, but in the end he is utterly destroyed. (03-92-4)
मया हि दृष्टा दैतेया दानवाश्च महीपते। वर्धमाना ह्यधर्मेण क्षयं चोपगताः पुनः ॥०३-९२-५॥
mayā hi dṛṣṭā daiteyā dānavāś ca mahīpate। vardhamānā hy adharmeṇa kṣayaṃ copagatāḥ punaḥ ॥03-92-5॥
[मया (mayā) - by me; by my agency; हि (hi) - indeed; for; दृष्टा (dṛṣṭā) - seen; दैतेयाः (daiteyāḥ) - the sons of Diti; Daityas; दानवाः (dānavāḥ) - Danavas; च (ca) - and; महीपते (mahīpate) - O lord of the earth; O king; वर्धमाना (vardhamānāḥ) - increasing; growing; हि (hi) - indeed; for; अधर्मेण (adharmeṇa) - by unrighteousness; with unrighteousness; क्षयम् (kṣayam) - destruction; decline; च (ca) - and; उपगताः (upagatāḥ) - have attained; have arrived at; पुनः (punaḥ) - again;]
(By me indeed seen the Daityas and Danavas, O lord of the earth, increasing indeed by unrighteousness, destruction and have come to again.)
O king, I have indeed seen the Daityas and Danavas; they, who were once increasing through unrighteousness, have now again come to destruction. (03-92-5)
पुरा देवयुगे चैव दृष्टं सर्वं मया विभो। अरोचयन्सुरा धर्मं धर्मं तत्यजिरेऽसुराः ॥०३-९२-६॥
purā devayuge caiva dṛṣṭaṃ sarvaṃ mayā vibho। arocayansurā dharmaṃ dharmaṃ tatyajire'surāḥ॥03-92-6॥
[पुरा (purā) - formerly; देवयुगे (devayuge) - in the age of the gods; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; दृष्टं (dṛṣṭam) - seen; सर्वं (sarvam) - all; मया (mayā) - by me; विभो (vibho) - O mighty one; अरोचयन् (arocayan) - found pleasing; सुरा (surāḥ) - the gods; धर्मं (dharmaṃ) - righteousness; धर्मं (dharmaṃ) - righteousness; तत्यजिरे (tatyajire) - abandoned; ऽसुराः ('asurāḥ) - the asuras;]
(Formerly, in the age of the gods, indeed, all (this) was seen by me, O mighty one. The gods found righteousness pleasing; the asuras abandoned righteousness.)
O mighty one, formerly in the age of the gods, all this was seen by me. The gods appreciated righteousness, while the asuras abandoned righteousness. (03-92-6)
तीर्थानि देवा विविशुर्नाविशन्भारतासुराः। तानधर्मकृतो दर्पः पूर्वमेव समाविशत् ॥०३-९२-७॥
tīrthāni devā viviśur nāviśan bhārat āsurāḥ। tān dharmakṛto darpaḥ pūrvam eva samāviśat ॥03-92-7॥
[तीर्थानि (tīrthāni) - sacred places; देवा (devāḥ) - the gods; विविशुः (viviśuḥ) - entered; न (na) - not; आविशन् (āviśan) - entered; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata; असुराः (asurāḥ) - the asuras; तान् (tān) - those (places); धर्मकृतः (dharmakṛtaḥ) - of one who has done righteous acts; दर्पः (darpaḥ) - pride; पूर्वम् (pūrvam) - previously; एव (eva) - indeed; समाविशत् (samāviśat) - completely entered;]
(The gods entered the sacred places; the asuras, O Bhārata, did not enter. The pride born of righteousness had already indeed completely entered those (places) previously.)

दर्पान्मानः समभवन्मानात्क्रोधो व्यजायत। क्रोधादह्रीस्ततोऽलज्जा वृत्तं तेषां ततोऽनशत् ॥०३-९२-८॥
darpān mānaḥ samabhavan mānāt krodho vyajāyata। krodhād ahrīs tato'lajjā vṛttaṃ teṣāṃ tato'naśat॥03-92-8॥
[दर्पात् (darpāt) - from pride; मानः (mānaḥ) - arrogance; समभवत् (samabhavat) - arose; मानात् (mānāt) - from arrogance; क्रोधः (krodhaḥ) - anger; व्यजायत (vyajāyata) - was produced; क्रोधात् (krodhāt) - from anger; अह्रीः (ahrīḥ) - shamelessness; ततः (tataḥ) - then; अलज्जा (alajjā) - lack of shame; वृत्तम् (vṛttam) - conduct; तेषाम् (teṣām) - of them; ततः (tataḥ) - then; अनशत् (anaśat) - perished;]
(From pride arrogance arose, from arrogance anger was produced. From anger shamelessness, then lack of shame (was produced); their conduct then perished.)
Arrogance arose from pride, from arrogance anger was born. From anger came shamelessness, and then a lack of shame; thus, their proper conduct was destroyed. (03-92-8)
तानलज्जान्गतह्रीकान्हीनवृत्तान्वृथाव्रतान्। क्षमा लक्ष्मीश्च धर्मश्च नचिरात्प्रजहुस्ततः ॥ लक्ष्मीस्तु देवानगमदलक्ष्मीरसुरान्नृप ॥०३-९२-९॥
tān alajjān gata-hrīkān hīna-vṛttān vṛthā-vratān। kṣamā lakṣmīś ca dharmaś ca na cirāt prajahus tataḥ॥ lakṣmīs tu devān agamad alakṣmīḥ asurān nṛpa॥03-92-9॥
[तान् (tān) - them; अलज्जान् (alajjān) - shameless; गतह्रीकान् (gata-hrīkān) - devoid of modesty; हीनवृत्तान् (hīna-vṛttān) - of fallen conduct; वृथाव्रतान् (vṛthā-vratān) - of futile vows; क्षमा (kṣamā) - forbearance; लक्ष्मीः (lakṣmīḥ) - prosperity; च (ca) - and; धर्मः (dharmaḥ) - righteousness; च (ca) - and; न (na) - not; चिरात् (cirāt) - for long; प्रजहुः (prajahuḥ) - departed; ततः (tataḥ) - from them; लक्ष्मीः (lakṣmīḥ) - Lakṣmī (prosperity); तु (tu) - but; देवान् (devān) - the gods; अगमत् (agamat) - went; अलक्ष्मीः (alakṣmīḥ) - misfortune; असुरान् (asurān) - the asuras; नृप (nṛpa) - O king;]
(Them shameless, devoid of modesty, of fallen conduct, of futile vows; forbearance, prosperity and righteousness did not remain for long from them. Lakṣmī indeed went to the gods, misfortune to the asuras, O king.)
Those who became shameless, without modesty, with fallen conduct and futile vows— forbearance, prosperity and righteousness quickly departed from them. Prosperity (Lakṣmī) went to the gods, misfortune to the asuras, O king. (03-92-9)
तानलक्ष्मीसमाविष्टान्दर्पोपहतचेतसः। दैतेयान्दानवांश्चैव कलिरप्याविशत्ततः ॥०३-९२-१०॥
tānalakṣmī-samāviṣṭān darpopahata-cetasaḥ। daiteyān dānavāṁś caiva kalir apy āviśat tataḥ॥03-92-10॥
[तान् (tān) - them; plural accusative masculine; लक्ष्मीसमाविष्टान् (lakṣmī-samāviṣṭān) - possessed by wealth (Lakṣmī); दर्पोपहतचेतसः (darpa-upahata-cetasaḥ) - with minds overcome by pride; दैतेयान् (daiteyān) - the Daiteyas (descendants of Diti); दानवान् (dānavān) - the Dānavas (descendants of Danu); च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; कलिः (kaliḥ) - Kali (discord, strife); अपि (api) - also; आविशत्ततः (āviśat tataḥ) - entered thereafter;]
(Them possessed by Lakṣmī, with minds overcome by pride, the Daiteyas and also the Dānavas, Kali also entered thereafter.)
Kali (the spirit of discord) also entered those Daiteyas and Dānavas, who were filled with wealth and whose minds had been overcome by pride. (03-92-10)
तानलक्ष्मीसमाविष्टान्दानवान्कलिना तथा। दर्पाभिभूतान्कौन्तेय क्रियाहीनानचेतसः ॥०३-९२-११॥
tānalakṣmīsāmāviṣṭāndānavānkalinā tathā। darpābhibhūtānkāunteya kriyāhīnānacetasaḥ॥03-92-11॥
[तान् (tān) - those (accusative plural masculine); लक्ष्मीसमाविष्टान् (lakṣmīsamāviṣṭān) - enveloped by fortune; दानवान् (dānavān) - demons; कलिना (kalinā) - by Kali (personification of the age of strife); तथा (tathā) - thus; in this way; दर्पाभिभूतान् (darpābhibhūtān) - overpowered by pride; कौन्तेय (kaunteya) - O son of Kunti; क्रियाहीनान् (kriyāhīnān) - devoid of righteous actions; अचेतसः (acetasaḥ) - unconscious; unaware;]
(Those dānavas enveloped by fortune, overpowered by pride by Kali thus, O son of Kunti, devoid of righteous actions, unconscious.)
O son of Kunti, Kali thus enshrouded those dānavas who were endowed with fortune, overcome by pride, devoid of righteous actions, and bereft of awareness. (03-92-11)
मानाभिभूतानचिराद्विनाशः प्रत्यपद्यत। निर्यशस्यास्ततो दैत्याः कृत्स्नशो विलयं गताः ॥०३-९२-१२॥
mānābhibhūtānacirādvināśaḥ pratyapadyata। niryalaśasyāstato daityāḥ kṛtsnaśo vilayaṃ gatāḥ ॥03-92-12॥
[मानाभिभूतान् (mānābhibhūtān) - overcome by pride; अचिरात् (acirāt) - without delay; विनाशः (vināśaḥ) - destruction; प्रत्यपद्यत (pratyapadyata) - befell; निर्यशस्याः (niryalaśasyāḥ) - devoid of glory; ततः (tataḥ) - then; दैत्याः (daityāḥ) - the Daityas (demons); कृत्स्नशः (kṛtsnaśaḥ) - entirely; विलयम् (vilayam) - destruction; गताः (gatāḥ) - attained;]
(Overcome by pride, without delay, destruction befell; devoid of glory, then the Daityas entirely attained destruction.)
Overcome by pride, destruction soon befell them; then, deprived of glory, the Daityas were completely destroyed. (03-92-12)
देवास्तु सागरांश्चैव सरितश्च सरांसि च। अभ्यगच्छन्धर्मशीलाः पुण्यान्यायतनानि च ॥०३-९२-१३॥
devās tu sāgarāṁś caiva saritaś ca sarāṁsi ca। abhyagacchan dharmaśīlāḥ puṇyāny āyatanāni ca ॥03-92-13॥
[देवाः (devāḥ) - gods; तु (tu) - but; indeed; सागरान् (sāgarān) - oceans; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; just; also; सरितः (saritaḥ) - rivers; च (ca) - and; सरांसि (sarāṁsi) - lakes; च (ca) - and; अभ्यगच्छन् (abhyagacchan) - they approached; went to; धर्मशीलाः (dharmaśīlāḥ) - of firm virtue; righteous; पुण्यानि (puṇyāni) - holy; auspicious; आयतनानि (āyatanāni) - sanctuaries; holy places; च (ca) - and;]
(Gods but oceans and indeed rivers and lakes and they approached righteous (ones) holy sanctuaries and.)
But the gods, being of virtuous nature, approached the oceans, rivers, lakes, and holy sanctuaries. (03-92-13)
तपोभिः क्रतुभिर्दानैराशीर्वादैश्च पाण्डव। प्रजहुः सर्वपापानि श्रेयश्च प्रतिपेदिरे ॥०३-९२-१४॥
tapobhiḥ kratubhiḥ dānaiḥ āśīrvādaiḥ ca pāṇḍava। prajahuḥ sarvapāpāni śreyaḥ ca pratipedire ॥03-92-14॥
[तपोभिः (tapobhiḥ) - by austerities; क्रतुभिः (kratubhiḥ) - by sacrifices; दानैः (dānaiḥ) - by gifts; आशीर्वादैः (āśīrvādaiḥ) - by blessings; च (ca) - and; पाण्डव (pāṇḍava) - O Pāṇḍava; प्रजहुः (prajahuḥ) - they gave up; सर्वपापानि (sarvapāpāni) - all sins; श्रेयः (śreyaḥ) - the superior state; च (ca) - and; प्रतिपेदिरे (pratipedire) - they attained;]
(By austerities, by sacrifices, by gifts, and by blessings, O Pāṇḍava, they gave up all sins and also attained the superior state.)
O Pāṇḍava, by austerities, sacrifices, gifts, and blessings, they gave up all sins and attained supreme good. (03-92-14)
एवं हि दानवन्तश्च क्रियावन्तश्च सर्वशः। तीर्थान्यगच्छन्विबुधास्तेनापुर्भूतिमुत्तमाम् ॥०३-९२-१५॥
evaṃ hi dānavantaś ca kriyāvantaś ca sarvaśaḥ। tīrthāny agacchan vibudhās tenāpur bhūtim uttamām॥03-92-15॥
[एवं (evaṃ) - thus; हि (hi) - indeed; दानवन्तः (dānavantaḥ) - those possessing liberality; च (ca) - and; क्रियावन्तः (kriyāvantaḥ) - those possessing ritual acts; च (ca) - and; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - in every way; तीर्थानि (tīrthāni) - sacred places; अगच्छन् (agacchan) - they went; विबुधाः (vibudhāḥ) - the wise; तेन (tena) - by that; अपुः (āpuḥ) - they obtained; भूतिम् (bhūtim) - prosperity; उत्तमाम् (uttamām) - highest;]
(Thus indeed, those possessing liberality and those possessing ritual acts, in every way, sacred places (having) gone, the wise by that obtained prosperity highest.)
Thus indeed, the wise who possessed liberality and ritual acts went to all the sacred places, and by that they attained the highest prosperity. (03-92-15)
तथा त्वमपि राजेन्द्र स्नात्वा तीर्थेषु सानुजः। पुनर्वेत्स्यसि तां लक्ष्मीमेष पन्थाः सनातनः ॥०३-९२-१६॥
tathā tvam api rājeṃdra snātvā tīrtheṣu sānujaḥ। punar vetsi asi tāṃ lakṣmīm eṣa panthāḥ sanātanaḥ॥03-92-16॥
[तथा (tathā) - thus; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अपि (api) - also; राजेन्द्र (rājeṃdra) - O king; स्नात्वा (snātvā) - having bathed; तीर्थेषु (tīrtheṣu) - in the holy places; सानुजः (sānujaḥ) - together with younger brother; पुनः (punar) - again; वेत्स्यसि (vetsyasi) - you will obtain; ताम् (tām) - that; लक्ष्मीम् (lakṣmīm) - fortune; एषः (eṣaḥ) - this; पन्थाः (panthāḥ) - path; सनातनः (sanātanaḥ) - eternal;]
(Thus you also, O king, having bathed in the holy places together with your brother, will obtain again that fortune—this path is eternal.)
Thus, O king, you too, after bathing at the holy places with your brother, will regain that fortune; this path is eternal. (03-92-16)
यथैव हि नृगो राजा शिबिरौशीनरो यथा। भगीरथो वसुमना गयः पूरुः पुरूरवाः ॥०३-९२-१७॥
yathaiva hi nṛgo rājā śibirauśīnaro yathā। bhagīratho vasumanā gayaḥ pūruḥ purūravāḥ ॥03-92-17॥
[यथैव (yathaiva) - just as; in the very same way; हि (hi) - indeed; certainly; नृगः (nṛgaḥ) - Nṛga (proper noun); राजा (rājā) - king; शिबिः (śibiḥ) - Śibi (proper noun); औशीनरः (auśīnaraḥ) - Auśīnara (descendant of Uśīnara, proper noun); यथा (yathā) - just as; as; भगीरथः (bhagīrathaḥ) - Bhagīratha (proper noun); वसुमना (vasumanā) - Vasumanas (proper noun); गयः (gayaḥ) - Gaya (proper noun); पूरुः (pūruḥ) - Pūru (proper noun); पुरूरवाः (purūravāḥ) - Purūravas (proper noun);]
(Just as indeed Nṛga, king, Śibi, Auśīnara, just as Bhagīratha, Vasumanas, Gaya, Pūru, Purūravas.)
Just as indeed King Nṛga, Śibi, Auśīnara, and just as Bhagīratha, Vasumanas, Gaya, Pūru, and Purūravas (did). (03-92-17)
चरमाणास्तपो नित्यं स्पर्शनादम्भसश्च ते। तीर्थाभिगमनात्पूता दर्शनाच्च महात्मनाम् ॥०३-९२-१८॥
caramāṇās tapo nityaṃ sparśanād ambhasaś ca te। tīrthābhigamanāt pūtā darśanāc ca mahātmanām ॥03-92-18॥
[चरमाणाः (caramāṇaḥ) - roaming;, तपः (tapaḥ) - austerity;, नित्यम् (nityam) - always;, स्पर्शनात् (sparśanāt) - from touching;, अम्भसः (ambhasaḥ) - waters;, च (ca) - and;, ते (te) - they;, तीर्थ-अभिगमनात् (tīrtha-abhigamanāt) - from approaching sacred places;, पूता (pūtā) - purified;, दर्शनात् (darśanāt) - from seeing;, च (ca) - and;, महात्मनाम् (mahātmanām) - of great souls;]
(Roaming austerity always from touching waters and they from approaching sacred places purified from seeing and of great souls.)
Those who always perform austerity while wandering, they are purified by the touch of water, by approaching sacred places, and by seeing great souls. (03-92-18)
अलभन्त यशः पुण्यं धनानि च विशां पते। तथा त्वमपि राजेन्द्र लब्धासि विपुलां श्रियम् ॥०३-९२-१९॥
alabhanta yaśaḥ puṇyaṃ dhanāni ca viśāṃ pate. tathā tvam api rājendra labdhāsi vipulāṃ śriyam ॥03-92-19॥
[अलभन्त (alabhanta) - (they) obtained; यशः (yaśaḥ) - fame; पुण्यम् (puṇyam) - merit; धनानि (dhanāni) - riches; च (ca) - and; विशां (viśām) - of men (people); पते (pate) - O lord; तथा (tathā) - thus; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अपि (api) - also; राजेन्द्र (rājendra) - O king; लब्धासि (labdhāsi) - (you) have obtained; विपुलाम् (vipulām) - great; श्रिय्यम् (śriyam) - prosperity;]
((They) obtained fame, merit, riches and, O lord of the people. Thus, you also, O king, have obtained great prosperity.)
They obtained fame, merit, and riches, O lord of the people. In the same way, you too, O king, have attained great prosperity. (03-92-19)
यथा चेक्ष्वाकुरचरत्सपुत्रजनबान्धवः। मुचुकुन्दोऽथ मान्धाता मरुत्तश्च महीपतिः ॥०३-९२-२०॥
yathā ce 'kṣvākur acarat saputra-jana-bāndhavaḥ. mucukundo 'tha māndhātā maruttaś ca mahīpatiḥ ॥03-92-20॥
[यथा (yathā) - just as; च (ca) - and; इक्ष्वाकुः (ikṣvākuḥ) - Ikṣvāku; अचरत् (acarat) - acted; conducted himself; सपुत्रजनबान्धवः (sa-putra-jana-bāndhavaḥ) - with sons, people, and relatives; मुचुकुन्दः (mucukundaḥ) - Mucukunda; अथ (atha) - then; मान्धाता (māndhātā) - Māndhātā; मरुत्तः (maruttaḥ) - Marutta; च (ca) - and; महीपतिः (mahīpatiḥ) - king; ruler of the earth;]
(Just as Ikṣvāku acted with sons, people, and relatives, so (did) Mucukunda, then Māndhātā, and Marutta, kings.)
Just as Ikṣvāku acted together with his sons, people, and relatives, so too did Mucukunda, then Māndhātā, and King Marutta. (03-92-20)
कीर्तिं पुण्यामविन्दन्त यथा देवास्तपोबलात्। देवर्षयश्च कार्त्स्न्येन तथा त्वमपि वेत्स्यसे ॥०३-९२-२१॥
kīrtiṁ puṇyām avindanta yathā devās tapobalāt। devarṣayaś ca kārtsnyena tathā tvam api vetsyase॥03-92-21॥
[कीर्तिं (kīrtiṁ) - fame; पुण्याम् (puṇyām) - virtuous; अविन्दन्त (avindanta) - obtained; यथा (yathā) - as; देवाः (devāḥ) - gods; तपः-बलात् (tapaḥ-balāt) - by strength of austerity; देवर्षयः (devarṣayaḥ) - divine sages; च (ca) - and; कार्त्स्न्येन (kārtsnyena) - wholly; तथा (tathā) - so; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अपि (api) - also; वेत्स्यसे (vetsyase) - will obtain;]
(Fame virtuous obtained as gods by strength of austerity; divine sages and wholly so you also will obtain.)
Just as the gods obtained virtuous fame through the power of austerity, and the divine sages wholly so, you also will obtain (such fame). (03-92-21)
धार्तराष्ट्रास्तु दर्पेण मोहेन च वशीकृताः। नचिराद्विनशिष्यन्ति दैत्या इव न संशयः ॥०३-९२-२२॥
dhārtarāṣṭrās tu darpeṇa mohena ca vaśīkṛtāḥ। nacirād vinaśiṣyanti daityā iva na saṁśayaḥ॥03-92-22॥
[धार्तराष्ट्राः (dhārtarāṣṭrāḥ) - the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra; तु (tu) - but; दर्पेण (darpeṇa) - by arrogance; मोहेन (mohena) - by delusion; च (ca) - and; वशीकृताः (vaśīkṛtāḥ) - overpowered; नचिरात् (nacirāt) - soon; विनशिष्यन्ति (vinaśiṣyanti) - will perish; दैत्या (daityāḥ) - the Daityas (demons); इव (iva) - like; न (na) - no; संशयः (saṁśayaḥ) - doubt;]
(The sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, but by arrogance and by delusion overpowered, soon will perish, like the Daityas, no doubt.)
The sons of Dhritarashtra, being overpowered by arrogance and delusion, will soon perish like the Daityas; there is no doubt about it. (03-92-22)
