आरिराधयिषुर्गङ्गां तपसा दग्धकिल्बिषः। सोऽपश्यत नरश्रेष्ठ हिमवन्तं नगोत्तमम् ॥०३-१०७-४॥

शृङ्गैर्बहुविधाकारैर्धातुमद्भिरलङ्कृतम्। पवनालम्बिभिर्मेघैः परिष्वक्तं समन्ततः ॥०३-१०७-५॥
śṛṅgair bahuvidhākārair dhātumadbhir alaṅkṛtam। pavanālambibhir meghaiḥ pariṣvaktaṃ samantataḥ ॥03-107-5॥

nadī-kuñja-nitambaiś ca sodakair upaśobhitam। guhā-kandara-saṁlīnaiḥ siṁha-vyāghrair niṣevi-tam॥03-107-6॥

किंनरैरप्सरोभिश्च निषेवितशिलातलम्। दिशागजविषाणाग्रैः समन्ताद्घृष्टपादपम् ॥०३-१०७-१०॥
kiṃnarair apsarobhiś ca niṣevitaśilātalam। diśāgaja-viṣāṇāgraiḥ samantād ghṛṣṭapādapam ॥03-107-10॥

sa tu tatra naraśreṣṭhas tapo ghoraṃ samāśritaḥ। phalamūlāmbubhakṣo 'bhūt sahasraṃ parivatsarān ॥03-107-13॥

(In a thousand years but, having passed, the great river showed him Gaṅgā then embodied herself.)

kim icchasi mahārāja mattaḥ kiṃ ca dadāni te. tad bravīhi nara-śreṣṭha kariṣyāmi vacas tava ॥03-107-15॥

(What do you desire, O great king, from me? And what shall I give to you? That tell, O best of men, I will do your word.)

Sixty thousand Sāgaras of great soul, upon encountering Kapila's energy, were instantly destroyed. (03-107-17)
तेषामेवं विनष्टानां स्वर्गे वासो न विद्यते। यावत्तानि शरीराणि त्वं जलैर्नाभिषिञ्चसि ॥०३-१०७-१८॥
teṣām evaṃ vinaṣṭānāṃ svarge vāso na vidyate. yāvat tāni śarīrāṇi tvaṃ jalair nābhiṣiñcasi ॥03-107-18॥
[तेषाम् (teṣām) - of them; एवं (evaṃ) - thus; in this way; विनष्टानाम् (vinaṣṭānām) - of the destroyed; perished; स्वर्गे (svarge) - in heaven; वासः (vāsaḥ) - residence; dwelling; न (na) - not; विद्यते (vidyate) - exists; यावत् (yāvat) - so long as; as long as; तानि (tāni) - those; शरीराणि (śarīrāṇi) - bodies; त्वम् (tvam) - you; जलैः (jalaiḥ) - with waters; न (na) - not; अभिषिञ्चसि (abhiṣiñcasi) - you sprinkle;]
(Of them, thus destroyed, residence in heaven does not exist. As long as those bodies you do not sprinkle with waters.)
For those thus perished, there is no residence in heaven as long as you do not sprinkle those bodies with water. (03-107-18)
स्वर्गं नय महाभागे मत्पितॄन्सगरात्मजान्। तेषामर्थेऽभियाचामि त्वामहं वै महानदि ॥०३-१०७-१९॥
svargaṃ naya mahābhāge mat-pitṝn sagarātmajān। teṣām arthe'bhiyācāmi tvām ahaṃ vai mahānadi ॥03-107-19॥

(I will do, O great king, your statement—here, there is no doubt. But the force of mine, hard to restrain, (is) fallen by the falling (one) from the sky.)
O great king, I will do your command—there is no doubt about it. But my force, which is hard to restrain, has fallen due to the falling (object or person) from the sky. (03-107-21)
न शक्तस्त्रिषु लोकेषु कश्चिद्धारयितुं नृप। अन्यत्र विबुधश्रेष्ठान्नीलकण्ठान्महेश्वरात् ॥०३-१०७-२२॥
na śaktas triṣu lokeṣu kaścid dhārayituṃ nṛpa। anyatra vibudha-śreṣṭhān nīlakaṇṭhān maheśvarāt॥03-107-22॥
[न (na) - not; शक्तः (śaktaḥ) - able; त्रिषु (triṣu) - in the three; लोकेषु (lokeṣu) - worlds; कश्चित् (kaścit) - anyone; धारयितुं (dhārayitum) - to bear; नृप (nṛpa) - O king; अन्यत्र (anyatra) - except; विबुधश्रेष्ठात् (vibudha-śreṣṭhāt) - from the best of the gods; नीलकण्ठात् (nīlakaṇṭhāt) - from the blue-throated one; महेश्वरात् (maheśvarāt) - from the great Lord;]
(Not able in the three worlds anyone to bear, O king, except from the best of the gods, from the blue-throated one, from the great Lord.)
O king, in the three worlds, no one is able to bear (it) except the best of the gods, the blue-throated one, Maheshvara. (3-107-22)
तं तोषय महाबाहो तपसा वरदं हरम्। स तु मां प्रच्युतां देवः शिरसा धारयिष्यति ॥ करिष्यति च ते कामं पितॄणां हितकाम्यया ॥०३-१०७-२३॥
taṃ toṣaya mahābāho tapasā varadaṃ haram। sa tu māṃ pracyutāṃ devaḥ śirasā dhārayiṣyati ॥ kariṣyati ca te kāmaṃ pitṝṇāṃ hitakāmyayā ॥03-107-23॥
[तं (taṃ) - him; तोषय (toṣaya) - propitiate; महाबाहो (mahābāho) - O mighty-armed; तपसा (tapasā) - with austerity; वरदं (varadaṃ) - grantor of boons; हरम् (haram) - Hara; स (sa) - he; तु (tu) - but; माम् (mām) - me; प्रच्युताम् (pracyutām) - fallen; देवः (devaḥ) - the god; शिरसा (śirasā) - with the head; धारयिष्यति (dhārayiṣyati) - will bear; करिष्यति (kariṣyati) - will accomplish; च (ca) - and; ते (te) - your; कामं (kāmaṃ) - desire; पितॄणां (pitṝṇāṃ) - of the ancestors; हितकाम्यया (hitakāmyayā) - with the wish for benefit;]
(Him propitiate, O mighty-armed, with austerity, the boon-bestowing Hara. He but me fallen, the god, with [his] head will bear. He will accomplish also your desire, of the ancestors, with the wish for benefit. " (03-107-23))
Propitiate him, O mighty-armed, with austerities—the boon-giving Hara. That god will bear me, when I have fallen, upon his head. He will also fulfill your desire for the welfare of your ancestors. (03-107-23)
एतच्छ्रुत्वा वचो राजन्महाराजो भगीरथः। कैलासं पर्वतं गत्वा तोषयामास शङ्करम् ॥०३-१०७-२४॥
etat-śrutvā vaco rājan-mahārājo bhagīrathaḥ। kailāsaṃ parvataṃ gatvā toṣayāmāsa śaṅkaram॥03-107-24॥

(This having heard speech O king great king Bhagīratha Kailāsa mountain having gone began to please Śaṅkara (Śiva).)
O king, having heard this speech, the great king Bhagīratha went to Mount Kailāsa and began to please Śaṅkara (Śiva). (03-107-24)
ततस्तेन समागम्य कालयोगेन केनचित्। अगृह्णाच्च वरं तस्माद्गङ्गाया धारणं नृप ॥ स्वर्गवासं समुद्दिश्य पितॄणां स नरोत्तमः ॥०३-१०७-२५॥
tatastenā samāgamya kālayogena kenacit। agṛhṇācca varaṃ tasmādgāṅgāyā dhāraṇaṃ nṛpa ॥ svargavāsaṃ samuddiśya pitṝṇāṃ sa narottamaḥ ॥03-107-25॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; तेन (tena) - by him; समागम्य (samāgamya) - having met; कालयोगेन (kālayogena) - through the influence of time; केनचित् (kenacit) - by someone; अगृह्णात् (agṛhṇāt) - accepted; च (ca) - and; वरं (varaṃ) - a boon; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - from him; गङ्गायाः (gaṅgāyāḥ) - of Gaṅgā; धारणं (dhāraṇam) - sustaining; नृप (nṛpa) - O king; स्वर्गवासं (svargavāsaṃ) - abode in heaven; समुद्धिश्य (samuddiśya) - having in view; पितॄणां (pitṝṇāṃ) - of the ancestors; स (sa) - he; नरोत्तमः (narottamaḥ) - excellent among men;]
(Then by him, having met through the influence of time by someone, and accepted a boon from him, of Gaṅgā sustaining, O king, abode in heaven having in view, of the ancestors, he, excellent among men.)
Then, O king, after meeting someone at the appointed time, he, the best among men, accepted from him the boon of sustaining (bringing) Gaṅgā, having in mind the abode in heaven of his ancestors. (03-107-25)
