अलक्ष्म्या किल संयुक्तो वृत्रं हत्वा शचीपतिः। आप्लुतः सर्वपापेभ्यः समङ्गायां व्यमुच्यत ॥०३-१३५-२॥

एतद्विनशनं कुक्षौ मैनाकस्य नरर्षभ। अदितिर्यत्र पुत्रार्थं तदन्नमपचत्पुरा ॥०३-१३५-३॥
etad-vinaśanaṃ kukṣau mainākasya nararṣabha. aditir yatra putrārthaṃ tad annam apacat purā ॥03-135-3॥

Raibhya was learned, had children, and was an ascetic, while the other was as well. Between the two there was an unmatched affection from childhood onwards, O Bhārata. (03-135-14)
यवक्रीः पितरं दृष्ट्वा तपस्विनमसत्कृतम्। दृष्ट्वा च सत्कृतं विप्रै रैभ्यं पुत्रैः सहानघ ॥०३-१३५-१५॥
yavakrīḥ pitaraṃ dṛṣṭvā tapasvinam asatkṛtam। dṛṣṭvā ca satkṛtaṃ vipraiḥ raibhyaṃ putraiḥ sahānagha॥03-135-15॥

पर्यतप्यत तेजस्वी मन्युनाभिपरिप्लुतः। तपस्तेपे ततो घोरं वेदज्ञानाय पाण्डव ॥०३-१३५-१६॥
paryatapyata tejasvī manyunābhipariplutaḥ। tapastepe tato ghoraṃ vedajñānāya pāṇḍava ॥03-135-16॥

dvijānāmanadhītā vai vedāḥ suragaṇārcita. pratibhāntviti tapye'hamidaṃ paramakaṃ tapaḥ ॥03-135-19॥

I, performing this supreme penance, wish that the Vedas—unlearned by the twice-born but worshipped by the hosts of gods—may become clear (shine forth) to me. (03-135-19)
स्वाध्यायार्थे समारम्भो ममायं पाकशासन। तपसा ज्ञातुमिच्छामि सर्वज्ञानानि कौशिक ॥०३-१३५-२०॥
svādhyāyārthe samārambho mamāyaṃ pākaśāsana। tapasā jñātumicchāmi sarvajñānāni kauśika ॥03-135-20॥

O Kauśika, this endeavor of mine is for the purpose of self-study, O Pakaśāsana. By austerity, I wish to know all knowledge. (03-135-20)
कालेन महता वेदाः शक्या गुरुमुखाद्विभो। प्राप्तुं तस्मादयं यत्नः परमो मे समास्थितः ॥०३-१३५-२१॥
kālena mahatā vedāḥ śakyā gurumukhād vibho। prāptuṃ tasmād ayaṃ yatnaḥ paramo me samāsthitaḥ ॥03-135-21॥
[कालेन (kālena) - by time; महता (mahatā) - great; वेदाः (vedāḥ) - the Vedas; शक्याः (śakyāḥ) - attainable; गुरुमुखात् (gurumukhāt) - from the mouth of the teacher; विभो (vibho) - O lord; प्राप्तुं (prāptuṃ) - to attain; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; अयम् (ayam) - this; यत्नः (yatnaḥ) - effort; परमः (paramaḥ) - supreme; मे (me) - my; समास्थितः (samāsthitaḥ) - is undertaken;]
(By (great) time the Vedas are attainable from the mouth of the teacher, O lord; therefore, this supreme effort of mine is undertaken.)
O lord, the Vedas can be attained from the teacher’s mouth only over a long time; therefore, I have undertaken this supreme effort. (03-135-21)

[अमार्ग (amārga) - not the path; not proper way; एष (eṣa) - this; this one; विप्रर्षे (viprarṣe) - O best of Brāhmaṇas; O Brāhmaṇa-sage; येन (yena) - by which; by this; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; यातुम् (yātum) - to go; to proceed; इच्छसि (icchasi) - you desire; you wish; किं (kiṃ) - what; why; विघातेन (vighātena) - by hindrance; by obstacle; ते (te) - to you; for you; विप्र (vipra) - O Brāhmaṇa; गच्छ (gaccha) - go; अधीहि (adhīhi) - learn; study; गुरोः (guroḥ) - of the teacher; of the guru; मुखात् (mukhāt) - from the mouth; from the lips;]
(Not the path this, O Brāhmaṇa-sage, by which you wish to go. Why by hindrance for you, O Brāhmaṇa? Go, learn from the mouth of the teacher. (03-135-22))
This is not the proper path, O Brāhmaṇa-sage, by which you wish to proceed. Why create obstacles for yourself, O Brāhmaṇa? Go and learn from the lips of your teacher. (03-135-22)
लोमश उवाच॥

evam-uktvā gataḥ śakro yavakrīr-api bhārata। bhūya evākarodyatnaṃ tapasyamita-vikrama ॥03-135-23॥

(Thus having spoken, Śakra departed; Yavakrī also, O Bhārata, again indeed made effort in austerity, of immeasurable prowess.)
After Śakra had thus spoken and departed, Yavakrī also, O Bhārata, again undertook great effort in performing austerities, possessing immeasurable prowess. (03-135-23)
घोरेण तपसा राजंस्तप्यमानो महातपाः। सन्तापयामास भृशं देवेन्द्रमिति नः श्रुतम् ॥०३-१३५-२४॥
ghoreṇa tapasā rājan tapyamānaḥ mahātapāḥ। santāpayāmāsa bhṛśam devendram iti naḥ śrutam ॥03-135-24॥

(By terrible austerity, O king, undergoing austerities, the great ascetic exceedingly distressed Indra, lord of the gods—thus to us (it is) heard.)
O king, we have heard that by terrifying austerities, the great ascetic, undergoing penance, greatly distressed Indra, the lord of the gods. (03-135-24)
तं तथा तप्यमानं तु तपस्तीव्रं महामुनिम्। उपेत्य बलभिद्देवो वारयामास वै पुनः ॥०३-१३५-२५॥
taṁ tathā tapyamānaṁ tu tapastīvraṁ mahāmunim। upetya balabhiddevo vārayāmāsa vai punaḥ॥03-135-25॥

(Him thus performing austerity but fierce penance great sage having approached Balabhid god restrained indeed again.)
Balabhid, the god (Indra), having approached the great sage who was thus engaged in fierce penance, again indeed restrained him. (03-135-25)
अशक्योऽर्थः समारब्धो नैतद्बुद्धिकृतं तव। प्रतिभास्यन्ति वै वेदास्तव चैव पितुश्च ते ॥०३-१३५-२६॥
aśakyo'rthaḥ samārabdho naitad-buddhikṛtaṃ tava। pratibhāsyanti vai vedās-tava caiva pituś-ca te॥03-135-26॥
[अशक्यः (aśakyaḥ) - impossible; अर्थः (arthaḥ) - task; समारब्धः (samārabdhaḥ) - undertaken; न (na) - not; एतत् (etat) - this; बुद्धिकृतं (buddhikṛtam) - done by intellect; तव (tava) - by you; प्रतिभास्यन्ति (pratibhāsyanti) - will appear; वै (vai) - indeed; वेदाः (vedāḥ) - Vedas; तव (tava) - for you; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - certainly; पितुः (pituḥ) - of your father; च (ca) - and; ते (te) - for you;]
(Impossible task undertaken not this intellect-done by you. Will appear indeed Vedas for you and certainly of your father and for you.)
The impossible task you have undertaken is not achieved by your intellect. The Vedas will indeed manifest themselves both to you and to your father. (03-135-26)
यवक्रीरुवाच॥

न चैतदेवं क्रियते देवराज ममेप्सितम्। महता नियमेनाहं तप्स्ये घोरतरं तपः ॥०३-१३५-२७॥
na cai tad evaṁ kriyate devarāja mama ipsitam। mahatā niyamena ahaṁ tapsye ghorataraṁ tapaḥ ॥03-135-27॥

(Not and this thus is done, O king of the gods, my desired. By great discipline I shall perform more severe austerity.)
This is not done as I desire, O king of the gods. With greater discipline, I shall practice an austerity still more severe. (03-135-27)
समिद्धेऽग्नावुपकृत्याङ्गमङ्गं; होष्यामि वा मघवंस्तन्निबोध। यद्येतदेवं न करोषि कामं; ममेप्सितं देवराजेह सर्वम् ॥०३-१३५-२८॥
samiddhe'gnāv upakṛtyāṅgam aṅgaṃ; hoṣyāmi vā maghavan tan nibodha। yady etad evaṃ na karoṣi kāmaṃ; mama-ipsitaṃ devarāja iha sarvam ॥03-135-28॥
[समिद्धेऽग्नौ (samiddhe'gnau) - in kindled fire; उपकृत्य (upakṛtya) - having performed (the rite) towards; अङ्गम् अङ्गं (aṅgam aṅgaṃ) - limb by limb; होष्यामि (hoṣyāmi) - I shall offer (into the fire); वा (vā) - or; मघवन् (maghavan) - O Indra; तत् (tat) - that; निबोध (nibodha) - know; यदि (yadi) - if; एतत् (etat) - this; एवम् (evam) - thus; न (na) - not; करोषि (karoṣi) - you do; कामम् (kāmam) - desire; मम (mama) - my; इप्सितम् (ipsitam) - desired; देवराज (devarāja) - O king of the gods; इह (iha) - here; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all;]
(In the kindled fire, having performed (the rite) limb by limb, I shall offer, or, O Maghavan, know that. If you do not do this desire of mine, O king of the gods, here, all my desired (actions).)
If, O Maghavan, my desire here is not fulfilled by you, then know that I shall offer each of my limbs, one by one, into the kindled fire. (03-135-28)
लोमश उवाच॥

niścayaṃ tam abhijñāya munes tasya mahātmanaḥ। prativāraṇa-hetvarthaṃ buddhyā sañcintya buddhimān ॥03-135-29॥
[निश्चयं (niścayam) - certainty; decision; तम् (tam) - that; अभिज्ञाय (abhijñāya) - having understood; मुनेः (muneḥ) - of the sage; तस्य (tasya) - of him; his; महात्मनः (mahātmanaḥ) - of the great-souled; प्रतिवारण-हेतु-अर्थम् (prativāraṇa-hetu-artham) - for the purpose of causing prevention; बुद्ध्या (buddhyā) - by intellect; सञ्चिन्त्य (sañcintya) - having carefully considered; बुद्धिमान् (buddhimān) - the intelligent one;]
(Having understood that certainty of the great-souled sage, for the purpose of causing prevention, having carefully considered by intellect, the intelligent one (acted).)
The intelligent one, having understood the resolve of that great-souled sage, and thoughtfully considering with his intellect for the purpose of prevention, acted. (03-135-29)
तत इन्द्रोऽकरोद्रूपं ब्राह्मणस्य तपस्विनः। अनेकशतवर्षस्य दुर्बलस्य सयक्ष्मणः ॥०३-१३५-३०॥
tat indro'karod rūpaṃ brāhmaṇasya tapasvinaḥ। anekaśatavarṣasya durbalasya sayakṣmaṇaḥ ॥03-135-30॥
[तत (tat) - that; इन्द्रः (indraḥ) - Indra; अकरोत् (akarot) - made; रूपं (rūpaṃ) - form; ब्राह्मणस्य (brāhmaṇasya) - of the Brāhmaṇa; तपस्विनः (tapasvinaḥ) - ascetic; अनेकशतवर्षस्य (anekaśatavarṣasya) - of many hundreds of years (aged); दुर्बलस्य (durbalasya) - of the weak; सयक्ष्मणः (sa-yakṣmaṇaḥ) - together with (having) consumption (disease);]
(That Indra made the form of the Brāhmaṇa ascetic, of many hundreds of years, of the weak, with (having) consumption.)
Then Indra took the form of a Brāhmaṇa ascetic who was very old, weak, and afflicted with consumption. (03-135-30)
यवक्रीतस्य यत्तीर्थमुचितं शौचकर्मणि। भागीरथ्यां तत्र सेतुं वालुकाभिश्चकार सः ॥०३-१३५-३१॥
yavakrītasya yat tīrtham ucitaṃ śaucakarmaṇi। bhāgīrathyāṃ tatra setuṃ vālukābhiś cakāra saḥ॥03-135-31॥
[यवक्रीतस्य (yavakrītasya) - of Yavakrīta; यत् (yat) - which; तीर्थम् (tīrtham) - sacred bathing place; उचितम् (ucitam) - appropriate; शौचकर्मणि (śaucakarmaṇi) - for the act of purification; भागीरथ्यां (bhāgīrathyāṃ) - in the (river) Bhagirathi; तत्र (tatra) - there; सेतुं (setum) - a bridge; वालुकाभिः (vālukābhiḥ) - with sands; चकार (cakāra) - he made; सः (saḥ) - he;]
(Of Yavakrīta, which sacred bathing place appropriate for the act of purification, in the Bhagirathi there a bridge with sands he made.)
He made, for Yavakrīta, a bridge of sand at the bathing place appropriate for purification in the river Bhagirathi. (3-135-31)
यदास्य वदतो वाक्यं न स चक्रे द्विजोत्तमः। वालुकाभिस्ततः शक्रो गङ्गां समभिपूरयन् ॥०३-१३५-३२॥
yadāsya vadato vākyaṁ na sa cakre dvijottamaḥ। vālukābhis tataḥ śakro gaṅgāṁ samabhipūrayan ॥03-135-32॥
[यदा (yadā) - when; अस्य (asya) - his; वदतः (vadataḥ) - speaking; वाक्यम् (vākyaṁ) - word; न (na) - not; सः (sa) - he; चक्रे (cakre) - did (perform, make); द्विजोत्तमः (dvijottamaḥ) - the best of the twice-born; वालुकाभिः (vālukābhiḥ) - with sands; ततः (tataḥ) - then; शक्रः (śakraḥ) - Śakra (Indra); गङ्गाम् (gaṅgām) - the Gaṅgā; समभिपूरयन् (samabhipūrayan) - filling completely;]
(When, while he was speaking his word, the best of the twice-born did not perform (it); then Śakra, with sands, was filling the Gaṅgā completely.)
When the best of the twice-born did not act while he was uttering his word, then Śakra (Indra) began to fill the Gaṅgā with sand. (03-135-32)
वालुकामुष्टिमनिशं भागीरथ्यां व्यसर्जयत्। सेतुमभ्यारभच्छक्रो यवक्रीतं निदर्शयन् ॥०३-१३५-३३॥
vālukāmuṣṭimaniśaṃ bhāgīrathyāṃ vyasarjayat। setumabhyārabhacchakro yavakrītaṃ nidarśayan ॥03-135-33॥
[वालुका (vālukā) - sand; मुष्टिम् (muṣṭim) - a handful; अनिशम् (aniśam) - again and again; भागीरथ्यां (bhāgīrathyāṃ) - in the Gaṅgā river; व्यासर्जयत् (vyasarjayat) - he cast; सेतुम् (setum) - bridge; अभ्यारभत् (abhyārabhat) - he began; शक्रः (śakraḥ) - Indra; यवक्रीतम् (yavakrītam) - (like) playing with barley grains; निदर्शयन् (nidarśayan) - showing;]
(He cast a handful of sand again and again into the Gaṅgā; Indra, showing it as like playing with barley grains, began the bridge.)
Indra began building a bridge by casting handfuls of sand repeatedly into the Gaṅgā, demonstrating it as if playing with barley grains. (03-135-33)
तं ददर्श यवक्रीस्तु यत्नवन्तं निबन्धने। प्रहसंश्चाब्रवीद्वाक्यमिदं स मुनिपुङ्गवः ॥०३-१३५-३४॥
taṁ dadarśa yavakrīstu yatnavantaṁ nibandhane। prahasaṁścābravīdvākyamidaṁ sa munipuṅgavaḥ॥03-135-34॥
[तं (taṁ) - him; ददर्श (dadarśa) - saw; यवक्रीः (yavakrīḥ) - Yavakrī (proper noun, a sage); तु (tu) - but; यत्नवन्तं (yatnavantam) - diligent; निबन्धने (nibandhane) - in (the act of) binding (ritual/penance); प्रहसन् (prahasan) - smiling; च (ca) - and; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said; वाक्यम् (vākyam) - (these) words; इदम् (idam) - this; स (sa) - he; मुनिपुङ्गवः (munipuṅgavaḥ) - the foremost among sages;]
(Him saw Yavakrī but—diligent in binding—smiling and said words this he, the foremost among sages.)
But Yavakrī saw him diligently engaged in his task; smiling, the foremost of sages spoke these words to him. (03-135-34)
किमिदं वर्तते ब्रह्मन्किं च ते ह चिकीर्षितम्। अतीव हि महान्यत्नः क्रियतेऽयं निरर्थकः ॥०३-१३५-३५॥
kim idaṃ vartate brahman kiṃ ca te ha cikīrṣitam। atīva hi mahān yatnaḥ kriyate 'yaṃ nirarthakaḥ॥03-135-35॥
[किम् (kim) - what; इदं (idaṃ) - this; वर्तते (vartate) - is happening; ब्रह्मन् (brahman) - O Brahman; किम् (kim) - what; च (ca) - and; ते (te) - by you; ह (ha) - indeed; चिकीर्षितम् (cikīrṣitam) - intended to be done; अतीव (atīva) - exceedingly; हि (hi) - indeed; महान् (mahān) - great; यत्नः (yatnaḥ) - effort; क्रियते (kriyate) - is made; अयम् ('ayam) - this; निरर्थकः (nirarthakaḥ) - useless;]
(What is this happening, O Brahman? And what indeed is intended by you? Exceedingly indeed, great effort is made, this (is) useless.)
O Brahman, what is happening here? And what indeed do you intend? This great effort truly seems useless. (03-135-35)

बन्धिष्ये सेतुना गङ्गां सुखः पन्था भविष्यति। क्लिश्यते हि जनस्तात तरमाणः पुनः पुनः ॥०३-१३५-३६॥
bandhiṣye setunā gaṅgāṃ sukhaḥ panthā bhaviṣyati. kliśyate hi janastāta taramāṇaḥ punaḥ punaḥ ॥03-135-36॥
[बन्धिष्ये (bandhiṣye) - I will cause to be bound; सेतुना (setunā) - with a bridge; गङ्गां (gaṅgāṃ) - the Gaṅgā; सुखः (sukhaḥ) - easy; पन्था (panthā) - path; भविष्यति (bhaviṣyati) - will be; क्लिश्यते (kliśyate) - is being afflicted; हि (hi) - indeed; जनः (janaḥ) - people; तात (tāta) - O dear; तरमाणः (taramāṇaḥ) - crossing; पुनः पुनः (punaḥ punaḥ) - again and again;]
(I will cause the Gaṅgā to be bound with a bridge; the path will be easy. The people, O dear, are being afflicted, crossing again and again.)
I shall build a bridge across the Gaṅgā; the road will become easy. O dear, people are indeed afflicted, crossing it again and again. (03-135-36)
यवक्रीरुवाच॥

nāyaṃ śakyastvayā baddhuṃ mahānoghaḥ kathaṃcana। aśakyādvinivartasva śakyamarthaṃ samārabha ॥03-135-37॥
[न (na) - not; अयम् (ayam) - this; शक्यः (śakyaḥ) - possible; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; बद्धुम् (baddhum) - to bind; महा (mahā) - great; ओघः (oghaḥ) - flood; कथञ्चन (kathaṃcana) - in any way; अशक्यात् (aśakyāt) - from the impossible; विनिवर्तस्व (vinivartasva) - turn away; शक्यम् (śakyam) - possible; अर्थम् (artham) - object; समारभ (samārabha) - undertake;]
(Not this possible by you to bind great flood in any way. From the impossible turn away, the possible object undertake.)
This great flood cannot in any way be bound by you. Turn away from the impossible and undertake what is possible. (03-135-37)

[यथैव (yathaiva) - just as; in the same way; भवता (bhavatā) - by you; च (ca) - and; इदं (idaṁ) - this; तपः (tapaḥ) - austerity; penance; वेदार्थम् (vedārtham) - for the sake of the Veda; for the purpose of the Veda; उद्यतम् (udyatam) - undertaken; commenced; अशक्यं (aśakyaṁ) - impossible; तत् (tat) - that; वद (vada) - speak; say; अस्माभिः (asmābhiḥ) - by us; अयम् (ayam) - this; भारः (bhāraḥ) - burden; समुद्यतः (samudyataḥ) - undertaken; taken up;]
(Just as by you this austerity for the purpose of the Veda is undertaken, say that (if) this burden undertaken by us is impossible.)
Just as you have undertaken this austerity for the sake of the Veda, tell (us) if this burden undertaken by us is impossible. (03-135-38)

यथा तव निरर्थोऽयमारम्भस्त्रिदशेश्वर। तथा यदि ममापीदं मन्यसे पाकशासन ॥०३-१३५-३९॥
yathā tava nirartho' yam ārambhas tridaśeśvara। tathā yadi mamāpi idaṃ manyase pākaśāsana ॥03-135-39॥
[यथा (yathā) - just as; thus; in this manner; तव (tava) - your; of you; निरर्थः (nirarthaḥ) - useless; without purpose; अयम् (ayam) - this; आरम्भः (ārambhaḥ) - effort; undertaking; त्रिदशेश्वर (tridaśeśvara) - O lord of the gods; तथा (tathā) - so; in the same way; यदि (yadi) - if; मम (mama) - my; of me; अपि (api) - also; too; इदं (idaṃ) - this; मन्यसे (manyase) - you think; you consider; पाकशासन (pākaśāsana) - O Indra; slayer of Vṛtra;]
(Just as your undertaking, O lord of the gods, is useless, so if you also consider this of mine, O Indra.)
O lord of the gods, if you think that my undertaking is also as useless as yours, O Indra, (so be it). (03-135-39)
क्रियतां यद्भवेच्छक्यं मया सुरगणेश्वर। वरांश्च मे प्रयच्छान्यान्यैरन्यान्भवितास्म्यति ॥०३-१३५-४०॥
kriyatāṃ yad bhavet śakyaṃ mayā suragaṇeśvara। varāṃś ca me prayacchānyānyair anyān bhavitāsmy ati ॥03-135-40॥
[क्रियतां (kriyatāṃ) - let it be done;, यत् (yad) - which;, भवेत् (bhavet) - may be;, शक्यं (śakyaṃ) - possible;, मया (mayā) - by me;, सुरगणेश्वर (suragaṇeśvara) - O lord of the hosts of gods;, वरान् (varān) - boons;, च (ca) - and;, मे (me) - to me;, प्रयच्छ (prayaccha) - grant;, अन्यैः (anyaiḥ) - by others;, अन्यान् (anyān) - others;, भवितास्मि (bhavitāsmi) - I shall become;, अति (ati) - very;]
(Let that be done which may be possible by me, O lord of the hosts of gods. And grant me boons; by others, I shall become others very much.)
O lord of the hosts of gods, let me do whatever is possible by me. Also, grant me boons; by others, I shall become others indeed. (03-135-40)
लोमश उवाच॥

Lomaśa said.
तस्मै प्रादाद्वरानिन्द्र उक्तवान्यान्महातपाः। प्रतिभास्यन्ति ते वेदाः पित्रा सह यथेप्सिताः ॥०३-१३५-४१॥
tasmai prādād varān indra uktavān yān mahātapāḥ। pratibhāsyanti te vedāḥ pitrā saha yathepsitāḥ॥03-135-41॥
[तस्मै (tasmai) - to him; प्रादात् (prādāt) - granted; वरान् (varān) - boons; इन्द्रः (indraḥ) - Indra; उक्तवान् (uktavān) - declared; यान् (yān) - which; महातपाः (mahātapāḥ) - of great austerity; प्रतिभास्यन्ति (pratibhāsyanti) - will appear; ते (te) - to you; वेदाः (vedāḥ) - the Vedas; पित्रा (pitrā) - with (your) father; सह (saha) - together; यथ-इप्सिताः (yathepsitāḥ) - as desired;]
(To him Indra, of great austerity, granted the boons which he had spoken, saying, 'The Vedas will appear to you together with your father, as desired.')
Indra, who was possessed of great austerity, granted to him the boons he had spoken of, declaring, 'The Vedas will appear to you along with your father, just as you desire.' (03-135-41)
यच्चान्यत्काङ्क्षसे कामं यवक्रीर्गम्यतामिति। स लब्धकामः पितरमुपेत्याथ ततोऽब्रवीत् ॥०३-१३५-४२॥
yaccānyatkāṅkṣase kāmaṃ yavakrīrgamyatāmiti. sa labdhakāmaḥ pitaramupetyātha tato'bravīt ॥03-135-42॥
[यत् (yat) - which; च (ca) - and; अन्यत् (anyat) - other; काङ्क्षसे (kāṅkṣase) - you desire; कामम् (kāmam) - object of desire; यवक्रीः (yavakrīḥ) - Yavakrī (proper noun); गम्यताम् (gamyatām) - let him go; इति (iti) - thus; सः (saḥ) - he; लब्धकामः (labdhakāmaḥ) - having obtained the object of desire; पितरम् (pitaram) - to (his) father; उपेत्य (upetya) - having approached; अथ (atha) - then; ततः (tataḥ) - thereafter; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - he said;]
(Which and other object you desire, Yavakrī, let him go thus. He, having obtained his desire, having approached his father, then thereafter, he said.)
And whatever other object you desire, let Yavakrī go there. Having attained his desire, he then approached his father and spoke thus. (03-135-42)
