dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca॥
Dhritarashtra spoke:
cakṣuṣmatāṃ vai spṛhayāmi sañjaya; drakṣyanti ye vāsudevaṃ samīpe। vibhrājamānaṃ vapuṣā pareṇa; prakāśayantaṃ pradiśo diśaśca ॥5-69-1॥
O Sanjaya, I long for those with sight to witness Vasudeva nearby, resplendent in supreme form, illuminating all quarters and directions.
īrayantaṃ bhāratīṃ bhāratānā; mabhyarcanīyāṃ śaṅkarīṃ sṛñjayānām। bubhūṣadbhirgrahaṇīyāmanindyāṃ; parāsūnāmagrahaṇīyarūpām ॥5-69-2॥
The speech of the Bharatas, which is revered and auspicious for the Sṛñjayas, is to be accepted by those who desire it. It is blameless and has a form that cannot be seized by enemies.
samudyantaṃ sātvatamekavīraṃ; praṇetāmarṣabhaṃ yādavānām। nihantāraṃ kṣobhaṇaṃ śātravāṇāṃ; muṣṇantaṃ ca dviṣatāṃ vai yaśāṃsi ॥5-69-3॥
The rising hero of the Sātvatas, the leader and bull among the Yadavas, who destroys and agitates the enemies, indeed steals the fame of those who hate.
draṣṭāro hi kuravastaṃ sametā; mahātmānaṃ śatruhaṇaṃ vareṇyam। bruvantaṃ vācamanṛśaṃsarūpāṃ; vṛṣṇiśreṣṭhaṃ mohayantaṃ madīyān ॥5-69-4॥
The assembled Kurus, indeed, saw him, the great soul and destroyer of enemies, speaking words of compassion, the most excellent among the Vrishnis, deluding my people.
ṛṣiṃ sanātanatamaṃ vipaścitaṃ; vācaḥ samudraṃ kalaśaṃ yatīnām। ariṣṭanemiṃ garuḍaṃ suparṇaṃ; patiṃ prajānāṃ bhuvanasya dhāma ॥5-69-5॥
The most ancient and wise sage, an ocean of speech and a vessel for ascetics, Arishtanemi, Garuda, and Suparna, the lord of all creatures and the abode of the world.
sahasraśīrṣaṃ puruṣaṃ purāṇa; manādimadhyāntamanantakīrtim। śukrasya dhātāramajaṃ janitraṃ; paraṃ parebhyaḥ śaraṇaṃ prapadye ॥5-69-6॥
I seek refuge in the ancient being with a thousand heads, who is without beginning, middle, or end, infinite in fame, the creator of Śukra, unborn, progenitor, and supreme beyond others.
trailokyanirmāṇakaraṃ janitraṃ; devāsurāṇāmatha nāgarakṣasām। narādhipānāṃ viduṣāṃ pradhāna; mindrānujaṃ taṃ śaraṇaṃ prapadye ॥5-69-7॥
I take refuge in him, the creator of the three worlds, the originator, the chief among gods, demons, serpents, demons, kings, and the wise, the younger brother of Indra.
