If merely boasting could lead to success, O Dhananjaya, then everyone would be successful in the world, and the unfortunate would boast a lot.
जानामि ते वासुदेवं सहायं; जानामि ते गाण्डिवं तालमात्रम्। जानाम्येतत्त्वादृशो नास्ति योद्धा; राज्यं च ते जानमानो हरामि ॥५-१५८-२५॥

न तु पर्यायधर्मेण सिद्धिं प्राप्नोति भूयसीम्। मनसैव हि भूतानि धाता प्रकुरुते वशे ॥५-१५८-२६॥
na tu paryāyadharmeṇa siddhiṃ prāpnoti bhūyasīm। manasaiva hi bhūtāni dhātā prakurute vaśe ॥5-158-26॥

त्रयोदश समा भुक्तं राज्यं विलपतस्तव। भूयश्चैव प्रशासिष्ये निहत्य त्वां सबान्धवम् ॥५-१५८-२७॥

sā vo dāsyaṃ samāpannān mokṣayām āsa bhāminī। amānuṣya samāyuktān dāsya karmaṇy avasthitān ॥5-158-30॥

संयुगं गच्छ भीष्मेण भिन्धि त्वं शिरसा गिरिम्। प्रतरेमं महागाधं बाहुभ्यां पुरुषोदधिम् ॥५-१५८-३७॥
saṃyugaṃ gaccha bhīṣmeṇa bhindhi tvaṃ śirasā girim। prataremaṃ mahāgādhaṃ bāhubhyāṃ puruṣodadhim ॥5-158-37॥

When you are overwhelmed by the endless and greatly intensified flood of weapons, losing your senses due to exhaustion, you will find yourself bereft of all kin; then your mind will be filled with sorrow.
तदा मनस्ते त्रिदिवादिवाशुचे; र्निवर्ततां पार्थ महीप्रशासनात्। राज्यं प्रशास्तुं हि सुदुर्लभं त्वया; बुभूषता स्वर्ग इवातपस्विना ॥५-१५८-४१॥
tadā manaste tridivādivāśuce; rnivartatāṃ pārtha mahīpraśāsanāt. rājyaṃ praśāstuṃ hi sudurlabhaṃ tvayā; bubhūṣatā svarga ivātapasvinā ॥5-158-41॥
[तदा (tadā) - then; मनः (manaḥ) - mind; ते (te) - your; त्रिदिवात् (tridivāt) - from heaven; इव (iva) - like; अशुचः (aśucaḥ) - impure; निर्वर्तताम् (nivartatām) - should return; पार्थ (pārtha) - O son of Pritha; महीप्रशासनात् (mahīpraśāsanāt) - from ruling the earth; राज्यम् (rājyam) - kingdom; प्रशास्तुम् (praśāstum) - to rule; हि (hi) - indeed; सुदुर्लभम् (sudurlabham) - very difficult to obtain; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; बुभूषता (bubhūṣatā) - desiring; स्वर्ग (svarga) - heaven; इव (iva) - like; अतपस्विना (atapasvinā) - by one without penance;]
(Then, your mind, O son of Pritha, should return from the impure heaven, from ruling the earth. Indeed, to rule the kingdom is very difficult to obtain by you, desiring like heaven by one without penance.)
O son of Pritha, let your mind withdraw from the impure heavens and the rule of the earth. For ruling a kingdom is as difficult for you as attaining heaven is for one without penance.
