Pancharatra and Core: An intense battle rages on between Abhimanyu and the Kaurava forces.

saindhavena niruddheṣu jayagṛddhiṣu pāṇḍuṣu। sughoramabhavadyuddhaṃ tvadīyānāṃ paraiḥ saha ॥7-43-1॥

(By Saindhava, blocked, eager for victory among the Pandavas, a very fierce battle became of your side with the enemies together.)
A very fierce battle ensued between your forces and the enemies, with Saindhava blocking the eager-for-victory Pandavas.
प्रविश्य त्वार्जुनिः सेनां सत्यसन्धो दुरासदाम्। व्यक्षोभयत तेजस्वी मकरः सागरं यथा ॥७-४३-२॥
praviśya tvārjuniḥ senāṃ satyasandho durāsadām। vyakṣobhayata tejasvī makaraḥ sāgaraṃ yathā ॥7-43-2॥

(Having entered, Arjuna, the truthful and formidable, agitated the army like a brilliant crocodile agitates the ocean.)
Arjuna, known for his truthfulness and formidable nature, entered the army and caused a great disturbance, much like a powerful crocodile stirs the ocean.
तं तथा शरवर्षेण क्षोभयन्तमरिंदमम्। यथाप्रधानाः सौभद्रमभ्ययुः कुरुसत्तमाः ॥७-४३-३॥

रथव्रजेन संरुद्धस्तैरमित्रैरथार्जुनिः। वृषसेनस्य यन्तारं हत्वा चिच्छेद कार्मुकम् ॥७-४३-५॥
rathavrajena saṁruddhastairamitrairathārjuniḥ। vṛṣasenasya yantāraṁ hatvā ciccheda kārmukam ॥7-43-5॥

(Blocked by the group of chariots, then Arjuna's son, having killed Vṛṣasena's charioteer, cut off the bow.)
Arjuna's son was blocked by the group of enemy chariots. Then, after killing Vṛṣasena's charioteer, he cut off the bow.
तस्य विव्याध बलवाञ्शरैरश्वानजिह्मगैः। वातायमानैरथ तैरश्वैरपहृतो रणात् ॥७-४३-६॥
tasya vivyādha balavāñśarairaśvānajihmagaiḥ। vātāyamānairatha tairaśvairapahṛto raṇāt ॥7-43-6॥

(His strong arrows pierced the horses, moving straight. Then, carried away by those blowing horses from the battle.)
His powerful arrows struck the horses directly. Then, he was carried away from the battlefield by those swift horses.
तेनान्तरेणाभिमन्योर्यन्तापासारयद्रथम्। रथव्रजास्ततो हृष्टाः साधु साध्विति चुक्रुशुः ॥७-४३-७॥
tenāntareṇābhimanyoryantāpāsārayadratham। rathavrajaastato hṛṣṭāḥ sādhu sādhviti cukruśuḥ ॥7-43-7॥

(In the meantime, the charioteer of Abhimanyu drove away the chariot. Then the delighted group of chariots shouted, "Well done, well done.")
Meanwhile, Abhimanyu's charioteer drove the chariot away, and the delighted warriors in the chariots exclaimed, "Well done, well done!"
तं सिंहमिव सङ्क्रुद्धं प्रमथ्नन्तं शरैररीन्। आरादायान्तमभ्येत्य वसातीयोऽभ्ययाद्द्रुतम् ॥७-४३-८॥
taṃ siṃhamiva saṅkruddhaṃ pramathnantaṃ śarairarīn। ārādāyāntamabhyetya vasātīyo'bhyayāddrutam ॥7-43-8॥

सोऽभिमन्युं शरैः षष्ट्या रुक्मपुङ्खैरवाकिरत्। अब्रवीच्च न मे जीवञ्जीवतो युधि मोक्ष्यसे ॥७-४३-९॥
so'bhimanyuṁ śaraiḥ ṣaṣṭyā rukmapuṅkhairavākirat। abravīcca na me jīvañjīvato yudhi mokṣyase ॥7-43-9॥

(He showered Abhimanyu with sixty golden-feathered arrows and said, "You will not escape alive from my living in battle.")

तमयस्मयवर्माणमिषुणा आशुपातिना। विव्याध हृदि सौभद्रः स पपात व्यसुः क्षितौ ॥७-४३-१०॥
tamayasmayavarmāṇamiṣuṇā āśupātinā। vivyādha hṛdi saubhadraḥ sa papāta vyasuḥ kṣitau ॥7-43-10॥
[तम (tam) - that; यस्मय (yasmaya) - proud; वर्माणम् (varmāṇam) - armored; इषुणा (iṣuṇā) - with an arrow; आशुपातिना (āśupātinā) - swift-falling; विव्याध (vivyādha) - pierced; हृदि (hṛdi) - in the heart; सौभद्रः (saubhadraḥ) - son of Subhadra; स (sa) - he; पपात (papāta) - fell; वयसुः (vyasuḥ) - lifeless; क्षितौ (kṣitau) - on the ground;]
(That proud armored one was pierced in the heart by the son of Subhadra with a swift-falling arrow; he fell lifeless on the ground.)
The son of Subhadra swiftly shot an arrow that pierced the proud armored warrior in the heart, causing him to fall lifeless to the ground.
वसात्यं निहतं दृष्ट्वा क्रुद्धाः क्षत्रियपुङ्गवाः। परिवव्रुस्तदा राजंस्तव पौत्रं जिघांसवः ॥७-४३-११॥
vasātyaṃ nihataṃ dṛṣṭvā kruddhāḥ kṣatriyapuṅgavāḥ। parivavr̥stadā rājaṃstava pautraṃ jighāṃsavaḥ ॥7-43-11॥
[वसात्यम् (vasātyam) - Vasatyam; निहतम् (nihatam) - killed; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; क्रुद्धाः (kruddhāḥ) - angry; क्षत्रियपुङ्गवाः (kṣatriyapuṅgavāḥ) - best of warriors; परिवव्रुः (parivavruḥ) - surrounded; तदा (tadā) - then; राजन् (rājan) - O king; तव (tava) - your; पौत्रम् (pautram) - grandson; जिघांसवः (jighāṃsavaḥ) - desiring to kill;]
(Seeing Vasatyam killed, the angry best of warriors surrounded your grandson, O king, desiring to kill.)
Upon witnessing the death of Vasatyam, the enraged warriors, considered the best among the Kshatriyas, surrounded your grandson with the intent to kill, O king.
विस्फारयन्तश्चापानि नानारूपाण्यनेकशः। तद्युद्धमभवद्रौद्रं सौभद्रस्यारिभिः सह ॥७-४३-१२॥
visphārayantaścāpāni nānārūpāṇyanekaśaḥ। tadyuddhamabhavadraudraṃ saubhadraśyāribhiḥ saha ॥7-43-12॥

तेषां शरान्सेष्वसनाञ्शरीराणि शिरांसि च। सकुण्डलानि स्रग्वीणि क्रुद्धश्चिच्छेद फाल्गुनिः ॥७-४३-१३॥
teṣāṃ śarānseṣvasanāñśarīrāṇi śirāṃsi ca। sakuṇḍalāni sragvīṇi kruddhaściccheda phālguṇiḥ ॥7-43-13॥

सखड्गाः साङ्गुलित्राणाः सपट्टिशपरश्वधाः। अदृश्यन्त भुजाश्छिन्ना हेमाभरणभूषिताः ॥७-४३-१४॥
sakhaḍgāḥ sāṅgulitrāṇāḥ sapaṭṭiśaparaśvadhāḥ। adṛśyanta bhujāśchinnā hemābharaṇabhūṣitāḥ ॥7-43-14॥

अनुकर्षैः पताकाभिस्तथा सारथिवाजिभिः। रथैश्च भग्नैर्नागैश्च हतैः कीर्णाभवन्मही ॥७-४३-१७॥
anukarṣaiḥ patākābhis tathā sārathivājibhiḥ। rathaiś ca bhagnair nāgaiś ca hataiḥ kīrṇābhavan mahī ॥7-43-17॥

दिशो विचरतस्तस्य सर्वाश्च प्रदिशस्तथा। रणेऽभिमन्योः क्रुद्धस्य रूपमन्तरधीयत ॥७-४३-१९॥
diśo vicaratas tasya sarvāś ca pradiśas tathā। raṇe'bhimanyoḥ kruddhasya rūpam antaradhīyata ॥7-43-19॥

(The directions and all the quarters wandered; in battle, the form of angry Abhimanyu disappeared.)

काञ्चनं यद्यदस्यासीद्वर्म चाभरणानि च। धनुषश्च शराणां च तदपश्याम केवलम् ॥७-४३-२०॥
kāñcanaṃ yadyadasyāsīdvarma cābharaṇāni ca। dhanuṣaśca śarāṇāṃ ca tadapaśyāma kevalam ॥7-43-20॥
[काञ्चनम् (kāñcanam) - gold; यत् (yat) - whatever; यत् (yat) - whatever; अस्य (asya) - his; आसीत् (āsīt) - was; वर्म (varma) - armor; च (ca) - and; आभरणानि (ābharaṇāni) - ornaments; च (ca) - and; धनुषः (dhanuṣaḥ) - of the bow; च (ca) - and; शराणाम् (śarāṇām) - of the arrows; च (ca) - and; तत् (tat) - that; अपश्याम (apaśyāma) - we saw; केवलम् (kevalam) - only;]
(Whatever gold, armor, and ornaments he had, and the bow and arrows, we saw only that.)

तं तदा नाशकत्कश्चिच्चक्षुर्भ्यामभिवीक्षितुम्। आददानं शरैर्योधान्मध्ये सूर्यमिव स्थितम् ॥७-४३-२१॥
taṁ tadā nāśakatkaściccakṣurbhyāmabhivīkṣitum। ādadānaṁ śarairyodhānmadhye sūryamiva sthitam ॥7-43-21॥
[तं (taṁ) - him; तदा (tadā) - then; न (na) - not; अशकत् (aśakat) - was able; कश्चित् (kaścit) - anyone; चक्षुर्भ्याम् (cakṣurbhyām) - with eyes; अभिवीक्षितुम् (abhivīkṣitum) - to see; आददानम् (ādadānam) - taking; शरैः (śaraiḥ) - arrows; योधान् (yodhān) - warriors; मध्ये (madhye) - among; सूर्यम् (sūryam) - sun; इव (iva) - like; स्थितम् (sthitam) - standing;]
(Then no one was able to see him with eyes, taking arrows among warriors, like the sun standing.)
