Pancharatra and Core: Listening to Yudhisthira, Arjuna vows to kill Jayadratha before the next day's sun sets, else he will enter the blazing fire.

व्याढानीकं वयं द्रोणं वरयामः स्म सर्वशः। प्रतिव्यूह्य रथानीकं यतमानं तथा रणे ॥७-५१-२॥
vyāḍhānīkaṃ vayaṃ droṇaṃ varayāmaḥ sma sarvaśaḥ। prativyūhya rathānīkaṃ yatamānaṃ tathā raṇe ॥7-51-2॥

स वार्यमाणो रथिभी रक्षितेन मया तथा। अस्मानपि जघानाशु पीडयन्निशितैः शरैः ॥७-५१-३॥

वयं त्वप्रतिमं वीर्ये सर्वे सौभद्रमात्मजम्। उक्तवन्तः स्म ते तात भिन्ध्यनीकमिति प्रभो ॥७-५१-५॥

स तथा चोदितोऽस्माभिः सदश्व इव वीर्यवान्। असह्यमपि तं भारं वोढुमेवोपचक्रमे ॥७-५१-६॥

तेऽनुयाता वयं वीरं सात्वतीपुत्रमाहवे। प्रवेष्टुकामास्तेनैव येन स प्राविशच्चमूम् ॥७-५१-८॥

(Then Drona, Kripa, Karna, Drauni, he Brihadbala, and Kritavarma surrounded Saubhadra with six chariots.)

(Surrounded by all those great warriors in battle, the young one, striving with utmost power, was deprived of his chariot by many.)

ततो दौःशासनिः क्षिप्रं तथा तैर्विरथीकृतम्। संशयं परमं प्राप्य दिष्टान्तेनाभ्ययोजयत् ॥७-५१-१२॥
tato dauḥśāsaniḥ kṣipraṃ tathā tairvirathīkṛtam। saṃśayaṃ paramaṃ prāpya diṣṭāntenābhyayojayat ॥7-51-12॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; दौःशासनिः (dauḥśāsaniḥ) - Duhshasana; क्षिप्रं (kṣipraṃ) - quickly; तथा (tathā) - thus; तैः (taiḥ) - by them; विरथीकृतम् (virathīkṛtam) - deprived of chariot; संशयम् (saṃśayam) - doubt; परमम् (paramam) - great; प्राप्य (prāpya) - having obtained; दिष्टान्तेन (diṣṭāntena) - by fate; अभ्ययोजयत् (abhyayojayat) - engaged.;]
(Then Duhshasana quickly engaged, having obtained great doubt by fate, thus deprived of chariot by them.)

स तु हत्वा सहस्राणि द्विपाश्वरथसादिनाम्। राजपुत्रशतं चाग्र्यं वीरांश्चालक्षितान्बहून् ॥७-५१-१३॥
sa tu hatvā sahasrāṇi dvipāśvarathasādinām। rājaputraśataṃ cāgryaṃ vīrāṃścālakṣitānbahūn ॥7-51-13॥

(He, having killed thousands of elephants, horses, chariots, riders, a hundred foremost princes, and many unseen heroes.)

बृहद्बलं च राजानं स्वर्गेणाजौ प्रयोज्य ह। ततः परमधर्मात्मा दिष्टान्तमुपजग्मिवान् ॥७-५१-१४॥

(Brihadbala and the king, having employed heaven in battle, indeed. Then the supremely righteous soul attained the end.)

एतावदेव निर्वृत्तमस्माकं शोकवर्धनम्। स चैवं पुरुषव्याघ्रः स्वर्गलोकमवाप्तवान् ॥७-५१-१५॥

(This much indeed has happened, our grief-increasing. And thus, the tiger among men has attained the heavenly world.)

(Then Arjuna, having heard the words spoken by Dharmaraja, sighed 'Alas, son!' and distressed, fell on the ground.)

विषण्णवदनाः सर्वे परिगृह्य धनञ्जयम्। नेत्रैरनिमिषैर्दीनाः प्रत्यवेक्षन्परस्परम् ॥७-५१-१७॥

प्रतिलभ्य ततः सञ्ज्ञां वासविः क्रोधमूर्छितः। कम्पमानो ज्वरेणेव निःश्वसंश्च मुहुर्मुहुः ॥७-५१-१८॥
pratilabhya tataḥ sañjñāṃ vāsaviḥ krodhamūrchitaḥ। kampamāno jvareṇeva niḥśvasaṃśca muhurmuhuḥ ॥7-51-18॥

(I promise you the truth, tomorrow I am the slayer of Jayadratha. If not, out of fear of death, he will abandon the sons of Dhritarashtra.)

न चास्माञ्शरणं गच्छेत्कृष्णं वा पुरुषोत्तमम्। भवन्तं वा महाराज श्वोऽस्मि हन्ता जयद्रथम् ॥७-५१-२१॥

यदि विशति रसातलं तदग्र्यं; वियदपि देवपुरं दितेः पुरं वा। तदपि शरशतैरहं प्रभाते; भृशमभिपत्य रिपोः शिरोऽभिहर्ता ॥७-५१-३९॥

(If the foremost enters the netherworld, or even the sky, the city of gods, or the city of Diti, then at dawn, having intensely attacked with hundreds of arrows, I shall remove the enemy's head.)

(Thus having spoken, he cast aside the bow Gandiva, left and right. Surpassing its sound, the sound of the bow touched the sky.)
After speaking thus, he threw aside the Gandiva bow, both left and right. The sound of the bow, surpassing all others, reached the sky.
अर्जुनेन प्रतिज्ञाते पाञ्चजन्यं जनार्दनः। प्रदध्मौ तत्र सङ्क्रुद्धो देवदत्तं धनञ्जयः ॥७-५१-४१॥

(By Arjuna having vowed, Panchajanya was blown by Janardana there, angrily Devadatta by Dhananjaya.)
After Arjuna made his vow, Janardana blew the Panchajanya conch, and in response, the angry Dhananjaya blew his Devadatta conch.
स पाञ्चजन्योऽच्युतवक्त्रवायुना; भृशं सुपूर्णोदरनिःसृतध्वनिः। जगत्सपातालवियद्दिगीश्वरं; प्रकम्पयामास युगात्यये यथा ॥७-५१-४२॥

(That Panchajanya, greatly filled with the sound emitted from the mouth of Acyuta, caused the world, with the netherworld, sky, and the lords of directions, to tremble as at the end of an age.)
The Panchajanya conch, blown by the breath of Acyuta, emitted a sound so profound that it shook the entire universe, including the netherworld, sky, and the guardians of the directions, as if signaling the end of an era.
ततो वादित्रघोषाश्च प्रादुरासन्समन्ततः। सिंहनादाश्च पाण्डूनां प्रतिज्ञाते महात्मना ॥७-५१-४३॥
tato vāditraghoṣāśca prādurāsansamantataḥ। siṃhanādāśca pāṇḍūnāṃ pratijñāte mahātmanā ॥7-51-43॥

(Then the sounds of musical instruments arose all around, and the lion roars of the Pandavas, having been pledged by the great soul.)
Then, the sounds of musical instruments and the lion-like roars of the Pandavas echoed all around, as pledged by the great soul.
