शिनिना सोमदत्तस्तु प्रसह्य भुवि पातितः। असिमुद्यम्य केशेषु प्रगृह्य च पदा हतः ॥७-११९-१३॥

(I desire a son, O Lord, who would slay the enemy's son by foot in the midst of thousands of kings and would kill in battle.)
O Lord, I wish for a son who can defeat the enemy's son amidst thousands of kings and triumph in battle.
तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा सोमदत्तस्य पार्थिव। एवमस्त्विति तत्रोक्त्वा स देवोऽन्तरधीयत ॥७-११९-१८॥
tasya tadvacanaṁ śrutvā somadattasya pārthiva। evamastviti tatroktvā sa devo'ntaradhīyata ॥7-119-18॥

(Having heard that speech of Somadatta, the king said, "Let it be so," and the god disappeared there.)
Upon hearing the words of Somadatta, the king agreed, saying, "Let it be so," and then the god vanished from that place.
स तेन वरदानेन लब्धवान्भूरिदक्षिणम्। न्यपातयच्च समरे सौमदत्तिः शिनेः सुतम् ॥७-११९-१९॥
sa tena varadānena labdhavānbhūridakṣiṇam। nyapātayacca samare saumadattiḥ śineḥ sutam ॥7-119-19॥

एतत्ते कथितं राजन्यन्मां त्वं परिपृच्छसि। न हि शक्या रणे जेतुं सात्वता मनुजर्षभ ॥७-११९-२०॥
etat te kathitaṁ rājan yan māṁ tvaṁ paripṛcchasi। na hi śakyā raṇe jetuṁ sātvata manujarṣabha ॥7-119-20॥

लब्धलक्ष्याश्च सङ्ग्रामे बहवश्चित्रयोधिनः। देवदानवगन्धर्वान्विजेतारो ह्यविस्मिताः ॥ स्ववीर्यविजये युक्ता नैते परपरिग्रहाः ॥७-११९-२१॥

न तुल्यं वृष्णिभिरिह दृश्यते किञ्चन प्रभो। भूतं भव्यं भविष्यच्च बलेन भरतर्षभ ॥७-११९-२२॥
na tulyaṁ vṛṣṇibhir iha dṛśyate kiñcana prabho। bhūtaṁ bhavyaṁ bhaviṣya ca balena bharatarṣabha ॥7-119-22॥

न ज्ञातिमवमन्यन्ते वृद्धानां शासने रताः। न देवासुरगन्धर्वा न यक्षोरगराक्षसाः ॥ जेतारो वृष्णिवीराणां न पुनर्मानुषा रणे ॥७-११९-२३॥
na jñātimavamanyante vṛddhānāṃ śāsane ratāḥ। na devāsuragandharvā na yakṣoragarākṣasāḥ ॥ jetāro vṛṣṇivīrāṇāṃ na punarmānuṣā raṇe ॥7-119-23॥

(Those engaged in the rule of the elders do not disrespect relatives. Neither gods, demons, nor celestial beings, nor yakshas, serpents, and demons are conquerors of the Vrishni heroes, nor again are humans in battle.)
Those who are devoted to the rule of the elders do not disrespect their relatives. Neither gods, demons, nor celestial beings, nor yakshas, serpents, and demons can conquer the heroes of the Vrishni clan, nor can humans in battle.

[ब्रह्मद्रव्ये (brahmadravye) - in the wealth of Brahmins; गुरुद्रव्ये (gurudravye) - in the wealth of teachers; ज्ञातिद्रव्ये (jñātidravye) - in the wealth of relatives; अपि (api) - also; अहिंसकाः (ahiṁsakāḥ) - non-violent; एतेषां (eteṣāṁ) - of these; रक्षितारः (rakṣitāraḥ) - protectors; च (ca) - and; ये (ye) - who; स्युः (syuḥ) - may be; कस्याञ्चित् (kasyāñcit) - in any; आपदि (āpadi) - calamity;]
(In the wealth of Brahmins, in the wealth of teachers, in the wealth of relatives, also non-violent; protectors of these who may be in any calamity.)
Those who are non-violent in the wealth of Brahmins, teachers, and relatives, and who protect them in any calamity, are commendable.
अर्थवन्तो न चोत्सिक्ता ब्रह्मण्याः सत्यवादिनः। समर्थान्नावमन्यन्ते दीनानभ्युद्धरन्ति च ॥७-११९-२५॥
arthavanto na cotsiktā brahmaṇyāḥ satyavādinaḥ। samarthānnāvamanyante dīnānabhyuddharanti ca ॥7-119-25॥
[अर्थवन्तः (arthavantaḥ) - wealthy; न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; उत्सिक्ता (utsiktā) - arrogant; ब्रह्मण्याः (brahmaṇyāḥ) - devoted to Brahman; सत्यवादिनः (satyavādinaḥ) - truthful; समर्थान् (samarthān) - capable ones; न (na) - not; अवमन्यन्ते (avamanyante) - disrespect; दीनान् (dīnān) - the poor; अभ्युद्धरन्ति (abhyuddharanti) - uplift; च (ca) - and;]
(The wealthy are not arrogant, they are devoted to Brahman and truthful. They do not disrespect the capable ones and uplift the poor.)
The wealthy are humble, devoted to spiritual truth, and honest. They respect the capable and uplift the poor.
नित्यं देवपरा दान्ता दातारश्चाविकत्थनाः। तेन वृष्णिप्रवीराणां चक्रं न प्रतिहन्यते ॥७-११९-२६॥
nityaṁ devaparā dāntā dātāraścāvikatthanāḥ। tena vṛṣṇipravīrāṇāṁ cakraṁ na pratihanyate ॥7-119-26॥
[नित्यं (nityaṁ) - always; देवपरा (devaparā) - devoted to the gods; दान्ता (dāntā) - self-controlled; दातारः (dātāraḥ) - givers; च (ca) - and; अविकत्थनाः (avikatthanāḥ) - without boasting; तेन (tena) - therefore; वृष्णिप्रवीराणां (vṛṣṇipravīrāṇāṁ) - of the heroes of the Vṛṣṇi clan; चक्रं (cakraṁ) - wheel; न (na) - not; प्रतिहन्यते (pratihanyate) - is obstructed;]
(Always devoted to the gods, self-controlled, givers, and without boasting; therefore, the wheel of the heroes of the Vṛṣṇi clan is not obstructed.)
The heroes of the Vṛṣṇi clan are always devoted to the gods, self-controlled, generous, and humble; therefore, their progress is never hindered.
अपि मेरुं वहेत्कश्चित्तरेद्वा मकरालयम्। न तु वृष्णिप्रवीराणां समेत्यान्तं व्रजेन्नृप ॥७-११९-२७॥
api meruṁ vahetkaścittaredvā makarālayam। na tu vṛṣṇipravīrāṇāṁ sametyāntaṁ vrajennṛpa ॥7-119-27॥

etatte sarvamākhyātaṃ yatra te saṃśayo vibho। kururāja naraśreṣṭha tava hyapanayo mahān ॥7-119-28॥

(This has all been told to you where your doubt lies, O lord. O king of the Kurus, best among men, indeed your removal is great.)
