Pancharatra and Core: Karna and Ashwatthama on the Kaurava side battle Bhima and Dhrishtadyumna, as described by Vasudeva to Arjuna.

त्वरमाणः पुनः कृष्णः पार्थमभ्यवदच्छनैः। पश्य कौरव्य राजानमपयातांश्च पाण्डवान् ॥८-४१-१॥
tvaramāṇaḥ punaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ pārtham abhyavadac chanaiḥ। paśya kauravya rājānam apayātāṃś ca pāṇḍavān ॥8-41-1॥
[त्वरमाणः (tvaramāṇaḥ) - hastening; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; कृष्णः (kṛṣṇaḥ) - Krishna; पार्थम् (pārtham) - to Arjuna; अभ्यवदत् (abhyavadat) - addressed; शनैः (śanaiḥ) - gently; पश्य (paśya) - see; कौरव्य (kauravya) - O descendant of Kuru; राजानम् (rājānam) - the king; अपयातान् (apayātān) - retreating; च (ca) - and; पाण्डवान् (pāṇḍavān) - the Pandavas;]
(Hastening again, Krishna gently addressed Arjuna: "See, O descendant of Kuru, the king and the retreating Pandavas.")
In a hurry once more, Krishna softly spoke to Arjuna: "Look, O Kuru's descendant, at the king and the Pandavas who are retreating."
कर्णं पश्य महारङ्गे ज्वलन्तमिव पावकम्। असौ भीमो महेष्वासः संनिवृत्तो रणं प्रति ॥८-४१-२॥
karṇaṁ paśya mahāraṅge jvalantamiva pāvakam। asau bhīmo maheṣvāsaḥ saṁnivṛtto raṇaṁ prati ॥8-41-2॥
[कर्णम् (karṇam) - Karna; पश्य (paśya) - see; महारङ्गे (mahāraṅge) - in the great arena; ज्वलन्तम् (jvalantam) - blazing; इव (iva) - like; पावकम् (pāvakam) - fire; असौ (asau) - this; भीमः (bhīmaḥ) - Bhima; महेष्वासः (maheṣvāsaḥ) - great archer; संनिवृत्तः (saṁnivṛttaḥ) - returned; रणम् (raṇam) - battle; प्रति (prati) - towards;]

तमेतेऽनु निवर्तन्ते धृष्टद्युम्नपुरोगमाः। पाञ्चालानां सृञ्जयानां पाण्डवानां च यन्मुखम् ॥ निवृत्तैश्च तथा पार्थैर्भग्नं शत्रुबलं महत् ॥८-४१-३॥
tam ete'nu nivartante dhṛṣṭadyumnapurogamāḥ। pāñcālānāṃ sṛñjayānāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ ca yanmukham ॥ nivṛttaiśca tathā pārthairbhagnaṃ śatrubalaṃ mahat ॥8-41-3॥
[तम् (tam) - that; एते (ete) - these; अनु (anu) - after; निवर्तन्ते (nivartante) - return; धृष्टद्युम्न (dhṛṣṭadyumna) - Dhrishtadyumna; पुरोगमाः (purogamāḥ) - led by; पाञ्चालानां (pāñcālānāṃ) - of the Panchalas; सृञ्जयानां (sṛñjayānāṃ) - of the Srinjayas; पाण्डवानां (pāṇḍavānāṃ) - of the Pandavas; च (ca) - and; यत् (yat) - which; मुखम् (mukham) - front; निवृत्तैः (nivṛttaiḥ) - returned; च (ca) - and; तथा (tathā) - thus; पार्थैः (pārthaiḥ) - by the sons of Pritha; भग्नम् (bhagnam) - broken; शत्रुबलम् (śatrubalam) - enemy forces; महत् (mahat) - great;]
(These, led by Dhrishtadyumna, return after that front of the Panchalas, Srinjayas, and Pandavas. And thus, by the returned sons of Pritha, the great enemy forces are broken.)

[कौरवान् (kauravān) - Kauravas; द्रवतः (dravataḥ) - running; हि (hi) - indeed; एषः (eṣaḥ) - this; कर्णः (karṇaḥ) - Karna; धारयते (dhārayate) - holds; अर्जुन (arjuna) - Arjuna; अन्तकप्रतिमः (antakapratimaḥ) - like Yama; वेगे (vege) - in speed; शक्रतुल्यपराक्रमः (śakratulyaparākramaḥ) - equal in valor to Indra;]
(Indeed, this Karna holds the running Kauravas, like Yama in speed, equal in valor to Indra, Arjuna.)

असौ गच्छति कौरव्य द्रौणिरस्त्रभृतां वरः। तमेष प्रद्रुतः सङ्ख्ये धृष्टद्युम्नो महारथः ॥८-४१-५॥

(He goes, O descendant of Kuru, Drona's son, the best of the wielders of weapons. This Dhrishtadyumna, the great chariot-warrior, rushed at him in the battle.)
