Core and Pancharatra: Duryodhana tells Ashwatthama and others that he wants to fight back when he has recovered from fatigue. Bhimasena's servants listened to this conversation and informed Bhima. Pandavas along with their friends go to Dvaipayana Lake.

(When the wives of the great Kshatriyas fled away, and the camp was empty, three chariots, greatly agitated, fled.)

निशम्य पाण्डुपुत्राणां तदा विजयिनां स्वनम्। विद्रुतं शिबिरं दृष्ट्वा सायाह्ने राजगृद्धिनः ॥ स्थानं नारोचयंस्तत्र ततस्ते ह्रदमभ्ययुः ॥९-२९-४॥

(Hearing the sound of the victors, the sons of Pandu, the greedy for kingdom fled the camp. Seeing the place in the evening, they did not like it there, then they approached the lake.)

युधिष्ठिरोऽपि धर्मात्मा भ्रातृभिः सहितो रणे। हृष्टः पर्यपतद्राजन्दुर्योधनवधेप्सया ॥९-२९-५॥

(Seeking but angry, your son desiring victory, diligently searching but did not indeed see the lord of people.)

स हि तीव्रेण वेगेन गदापाणिरपाक्रमत्। तं ह्रदं प्राविशच्चापि विष्टभ्यापः स्वमायया ॥९-२९-७॥
sa hi tīvreṇa vegena gadāpāṇirapākramat। taṃ hradaṃ prāviśaccāpi viṣṭabhyāpaḥ svamāyayā ॥9-29-7॥
[स (sa) - he; हि (hi) - indeed; तीव्रेण (tīvreṇa) - with intense; वेगेन (vegena) - speed; गदापाणिः (gadāpāṇiḥ) - with mace in hand; अपाक्रमत् (apākramat) - departed; तं (tam) - that; ह्रदम् (hradam) - lake; प्राविशत् (prāviśat) - entered; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; विष्टभ्य (viṣṭabhya) - having restrained; अपः (apaḥ) - the waters; स्वमायया (svamāyayā) - by his own illusion;]
(He indeed departed with intense speed, with mace in hand. He also entered that lake, having restrained the waters by his own illusion.)
He, with a mace in hand, swiftly departed and entered the lake, manipulating the waters with his mystical powers.
यदा तु पाण्डवाः सर्वे सुपरिश्रान्तवाहनाः। ततः स्वशिबिरं प्राप्य व्यतिष्ठन्सहसैनिकाः ॥९-२९-८॥
yadā tu pāṇḍavāḥ sarve supariśrāntavāhanāḥ। tataḥ svaśibiraṃ prāpya vyatiṣṭhansahasainikāḥ ॥9-29-8॥
[यदा (yadā) - when; तु (tu) - but; पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - Pāṇḍavas; सर्वे (sarve) - all; सुपरिश्रान्तवाहनाः (supariśrāntavāhanāḥ) - with very tired vehicles; ततः (tataḥ) - then; स्वशिबिरं (svaśibiraṃ) - to their camp; प्राप्य (prāpya) - having reached; व्यतिष्ठन् (vyatiṣṭhan) - stood; सहसैनिकाः (sahasainikāḥ) - with soldiers;]
(When, however, the Pāṇḍavas, all with very tired vehicles, then having reached their camp, stood with soldiers.)

(Then Kṛpa, Drauṇi, Kṛtavarmā, and Sātvata, situated among the sons of Pṛthā, went to that lake slowly.)
Then Kṛpa, Drauṇi, Kṛtavarmā, and Sātvata, who were among the sons of Pṛthā, slowly proceeded to that lake.
ते तं ह्रदं समासाद्य यत्र शेते जनाधिपः। अभ्यभाषन्त दुर्धर्षं राजानं सुप्तमम्भसि ॥९-२९-१०॥
te taṁ hradaṁ samāsādya yatra śete janādhipaḥ। abhyabhāṣanta durdharṣaṁ rājānaṁ suptamambhasi ॥9-29-10॥
[ते (te) - they; तं (tam) - that; ह्रदं (hradam) - lake; समासाद्य (samāsādya) - having reached; यत्र (yatra) - where; शेते (śete) - sleeps; जनाधिपः (janādhipaḥ) - the king; अभ्यभाषन्त (abhyabhāṣanta) - addressed; दुर्धर्षं (durdharṣam) - unassailable; राजानं (rājānam) - king; सुप्तम् (suptam) - sleeping; अम्भसि (ambhasi) - in the water;]
(They, having reached that lake where the king sleeps, addressed the unassailable king sleeping in the water.)

राजन्नुत्तिष्ठ युध्यस्व सहास्माभिर्युधिष्ठिरम्। जित्वा वा पृथिवीं भुङ्क्ष्व हतो वा स्वर्गमाप्नुहि ॥९-२९-११॥
rājannuttiṣṭha yudhyasva sahāsmābhiryudhiṣṭhiram। jitvā vā pṛthivīṃ bhuṅkṣva hato vā svargamāpnuhi ॥9-29-11॥
[राजन् (rājan) - O king; उत्तिष्ठ (uttiṣṭha) - arise; युध्यस्व (yudhyasva) - fight; सहा (sahā) - with; अस्माभिः (asmābhiḥ) - us; युधिष्ठिरम् (yudhiṣṭhiram) - Yudhishthira; जित्वा (jitvā) - having conquered; वा (vā) - or; पृथिवीम् (pṛthivīm) - the earth; भुङ्क्ष्व (bhuṅkṣva) - enjoy; हतः (hataḥ) - being slain; वा (vā) - or; स्वर्गम् (svargam) - heaven; आप्नुहि (āpnuhi) - attain;]
(O king, arise, fight with us against Yudhishthira. Having conquered, enjoy the earth, or being slain, attain heaven.)
"O king, rise and fight alongside us against Yudhishthira. If you conquer, enjoy the earth; if slain, you will attain heaven."
तेषामपि बलं सर्वं हतं दुर्योधन त्वया। प्रतिरब्धाश्च भूयिष्ठं ये शिष्टास्तत्र सैनिकाः ॥९-२९-१२॥
teṣām api balaṃ sarvaṃ hataṃ duryodhana tvayā। pratirabdhāś ca bhūyiṣṭhaṃ ye śiṣṭās tatra sainikāḥ ॥9-29-12॥
[तेषाम् (teṣām) - of them; अपि (api) - also; बलम् (balaṃ) - strength; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; हतम् (hatam) - destroyed; दुर्योधन (duryodhana) - Duryodhana; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; प्रतिरब्धाः (pratirabdhāḥ) - attacked; च (ca) - and; भूयिष्ठम् (bhūyiṣṭham) - mostly; ये (ye) - who; शिष्टाः (śiṣṭāḥ) - remained; तत्र (tatra) - there; सैनिकाः (sainikāḥ) - soldiers;]
(Of them also, all the strength was destroyed by you, Duryodhana. And mostly attacked were those soldiers who remained there.)
"Duryodhana, you have destroyed all their strength. Most of the soldiers who remained there were also attacked."
न ते वेगं विषहितुं शक्तास्तव विशां पते। अस्माभिरभिगुप्तस्य तस्मादुत्तिष्ठ भारत ॥९-२९-१३॥
na te vegaṃ viṣahituṃ śaktāstava viśāṃ pate। asmābhirabhiguptasya tasmāduttiṣṭha bhārata ॥9-29-13॥
[न (na) - not; ते (te) - your; वегं (vegaṃ) - speed; विषहितुं (viṣahituṃ) - to withstand; शक्ताः (śaktāḥ) - able; तव (tava) - your; विशां (viśāṃ) - of men; पते (pate) - lord; अस्माभिः (asmābhiḥ) - by us; अभिगुप्तस्य (abhiguptasya) - protected; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; उत्तिष्ठ (uttiṣṭha) - arise; भारत (bhārata) - O Bharata;]
(Your speed cannot be withstood by us, O lord of men. Therefore, arise, O Bharata.)
"O lord of men, we cannot withstand your speed. Therefore, arise, O Bharata, who is protected by us."

diṣṭyā paśyāmi vo muktānīdṛśātpuruṣakṣayāt। pāṇḍukauravasaṃmardājjīvamānānnararṣabhān ॥9-29-14॥
[दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - by fortune; पश्यामि (paśyāmi) - I see; वः (vaḥ) - you; मुक्तान् (muktān) - freed; ईदृशात् (īdṛśāt) - from such; पुरुषक्षयात् (puruṣakṣayāt) - destruction of men; पाण्डुकौरवसंमर्दात् (pāṇḍukauravasaṃmardāt) - from the conflict between the Pāṇḍavas and Kauravas; जीवमानान् (jīvamānān) - living; नरर्षभान् (nararṣabhān) - bulls among men;]
(By fortune, I see you freed from such destruction of men, living from the conflict between the Pāṇḍavas and Kauravas, bulls among men.)
By good fortune, I see you all freed from such destruction of men, surviving the great conflict between the Pāṇḍavas and Kauravas, as the foremost among men.
विजेष्यामो वयं सर्वे विश्रान्ता विगतक्लमाः। भवन्तश्च परिश्रान्ता वयं च भृशविक्षताः ॥ उदीर्णं च बलं तेषां तेन युद्धं न रोचये ॥९-२९-१५॥
vijeṣyāmo vayaṃ sarve viśrāntā vigataklamāḥ। bhavantaśca pariśrāntā vayaṃ ca bhṛśavikṣatāḥ ॥ udīrṇaṃ ca balaṃ teṣāṃ tena yuddhaṃ na rocaye ॥9-29-15॥
[विजेष्यामः (vijeṣyāmaḥ) - we will conquer; वयम् (vayam) - we; सर्वे (sarve) - all; विश्रान्ताः (viśrāntāḥ) - rested; विगतक्लमाः (vigataklamāḥ) - free from fatigue; भवन्तः (bhavantaḥ) - you; च (ca) - and; परिश्रान्ताः (pariśrāntāḥ) - exhausted; वयम् (vayam) - we; च (ca) - and; भृशविक्षताः (bhṛśavikṣatāḥ) - severely wounded; उदीर्णम् (udīrṇam) - excessive; च (ca) - and; बलम् (balam) - strength; तेषाम् (teṣām) - their; तेन (tena) - therefore; युद्धम् (yuddham) - battle; न (na) - not; रोचये (rocaye) - I like;]
(We will conquer, we all are rested and free from fatigue. You are exhausted and we are severely wounded. Their strength is excessive, therefore I do not like the battle.)

न त्वेतदद्भुतं वीरा यद्वो महदिदं मनः। अस्मासु च परा भक्तिर्न तु कालः पराक्रमे ॥९-२९-१६॥
na tv etad adbhutaṁ vīrā yad vo mahad idaṁ manaḥ। asmāsu ca parā bhaktir na tu kālaḥ parākrame ॥9-29-16॥
[न (na) - not; तु (tu) - but; एतत् (etat) - this; अद्भुतं (adbhutaṁ) - wonderful; वीराः (vīrāḥ) - heroes; यत् (yat) - that; वः (vaḥ) - your; महत् (mahat) - great; इदं (idaṁ) - this; मनः (manaḥ) - mind; अस्मासु (asmāsu) - in us; च (ca) - and; परा (parā) - supreme; भक्तिः (bhaktiḥ) - devotion; न (na) - not; तु (tu) - but; कालः (kālaḥ) - time; पराक्रमे (parākrame) - in valor;]
(Not but this wonderful, heroes, that your great this mind in us and supreme devotion not but time in valor.)
O heroes, it is not surprising that your minds are greatly devoted to us, but this is not the time for valor.
विश्रम्यैकां निशामद्य भवद्भिः सहितो रणे। प्रतियोत्स्याम्यहं शत्रूञ्श्वो न मेऽस्त्यत्र संशयः ॥९-२९-१७॥
viśramyaikāṃ niśāmadya bhavadbhiḥ sahito raṇe। pratiyotsyāmyahaṃ śatrūñśvo na me'styatra saṃśayaḥ ॥9-29-17॥
[विश्रम्य (viśramya) - resting; एकाम् (ekām) - one; निशाम् (niśām) - night; अद्य (adya) - today; भवद्भिः (bhavadbhiḥ) - with you; सहितः (sahitaḥ) - together; रणे (raṇe) - in battle; प्रतियोत्स्यामि (pratiyotsyāmi) - I will fight back; अहम् (aham) - I; शत्रून् (śatrūn) - enemies; श्वः (śvaḥ) - tomorrow; न (na) - not; मे (me) - my; अस्ति (asti) - is; अत्र (atra) - here; संशयः (saṃśayaḥ) - doubt;]
(Resting one night today with you together in battle, I will fight back the enemies tomorrow, there is no doubt here for me.)
"Today, after resting for one night with you in the battlefield, I will fight back against the enemies tomorrow. There is no doubt about it for me."

evamukto'bravīddrauṇī rājānaṃ yuddhadurmadam। uttiṣṭha rājanbhadraṃ te vijeṣyāmo raṇe parān ॥9-29-18॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्तः (uktaḥ) - spoken; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said; द्रौणी (drauṇī) - Drauni; राजानम् (rājānam) - to the king; युद्ध (yuddha) - battle; दुर्मदम् (durmadam) - arrogant; उत्तिष्ठ (uttiṣṭha) - arise; राजन् (rājan) - O king; भद्रम् (bhadram) - good; ते (te) - to you; विजेष्यामः (vijeṣyāmaḥ) - we will conquer; रणे (raṇe) - in battle; परान् (parān) - enemies;]
(Thus spoken, Drauni said to the arrogant king in battle, "Arise, O king, good will come to you; we will conquer the enemies in battle.")
Thus addressed, Drauni spoke to the arrogant king, "Arise, O king, good fortune will come to you; we shall defeat the enemies in battle."
इष्टापूर्तेन दानेन सत्येन च जपेन च। शपे राजन्यथा ह्यद्य निहनिष्यामि सोमकान् ॥९-२९-१९॥

(By sacrifices and charitable acts, by giving, by truth, and by recitation, I swear, O king, that indeed today I will destroy the Somakas.)

ते गत्वा दूरमध्वानं न्यग्रोधं प्रेक्ष्य मारिष। न्यविशन्त भृशं श्रान्ताश्चिन्तयन्तो नृपं प्रति ॥९-२९-६३॥

इत्येवं चिन्तयन्तस्ते रथेभ्योऽश्वान्विमुच्य ह। तत्रासां चक्रिरे राजन्कृपप्रभृतयो रथाः ॥९-२९-६६॥
ityevaṃ cintayantaste rathebhyo'śvānvimucya ha। tatrāsāṃ cakrire rājnkṛpaprabhṛtayo rathāḥ ॥9-29-66॥
