Core and Pancharatra: Yudhishthira asks the hiding Duryodhana to leave cowardice and fight; but Duryodhana want's to gift the kingdom to the Pandavas and wants to retire himself to the forest.

(Then, when the three chariots had departed, the Pāṇḍavas approached the lake where Duryodhana was.)

आसाद्य च कुरुश्रेष्ठ तदा द्वैपायनह्रदम्। स्तम्भितं धार्तराष्ट्रेण दृष्ट्वा तं सलिलाशयम् ॥ वासुदेवमिदं वाक्यमब्रवीत्कुरुनन्दनः ॥९-३०-२॥

(Having reached, O best of the Kurus, then the Dvaipayana lake, blocked by Dhritarashtra's son, having seen that reservoir of water, to Vasudeva this speech said the descendant of Kuru.)
Upon reaching the Dvaipayana lake, which was blocked by Dhritarashtra's son, the best of the Kurus, having seen the reservoir, spoke this to Vasudeva: "O descendant of Kuru, here is what was said:"
पश्येमां धार्तराष्ट्रेण मायामप्सु प्रयोजिताम्। विष्टभ्य सलिलं शेते नास्य मानुषतो भयम् ॥९-३०-३॥
paśyemāṃ dhārtarāṣṭreṇa māyāmapsu prayojitām। viṣṭabhya salilaṃ śete nāsya mānuṣato bhayam ॥9-30-3॥

क्रियाभ्युपायैः पूर्वं हि हिरण्याक्षो महासुरः। हिरण्यकशिपुश्चैव क्रिययैव निषूदितौ ॥ वृत्रश्च निहतो राजन्क्रिययैव न संशयः ॥९-३०-९॥

ityukto vāsudevena pāṇḍavaḥ saṃśitavrataḥ। jalasthaṃ taṃ mahārāja tava putraṃ mahābalam॥ abhyabhāṣata kaunteyaḥ prahasanniva bhārata॥9-30-15॥

सुयोधन किमर्थोऽयमारम्भोऽप्सु कृतस्त्वया। सर्वं क्षत्रं घातयित्वा स्वकुलं च विशां पते ॥९-३०-१६॥
suyodhana kimartho'yamārambho'psu kṛtastvayā। sarvaṃ kṣatraṃ ghātayitvā svakulaṃ ca viśāṃ pate ॥9-30-16॥

(Suyodhana, for what purpose has this beginning been made in the waters by you? Having killed all the kṣatriyas and your own family, O lord of the people.)
Suyodhana, why have you initiated this endeavor in the waters? After destroying all the kṣatriyas and your own family, O lord of the people.
जलाशयं प्रविष्टोऽद्य वाञ्छञ्जीवितमात्मनः। उत्तिष्ठ राजन्युध्यस्व सहास्माभिः सुयोधन ॥९-३०-१७॥
jalāśayaṃ praviṣṭo'dya vāñchañjīvitamātmanaḥ। uttiṣṭha rājanyudhyasva sahāsmābhiḥ suyodhana ॥9-30-17॥

(And that pride, O best of men, and that honor, where have they gone? You, holding back water, stand fearful, O king.)

(All people indeed talk of you as a hero in the assembly. I think that your valor is useless, of one lying on water.)
In the assembly, everyone talks of you as a hero, but I believe that your valor is as useless as that of someone lying on water.
उत्तिष्ठ राजन्युध्यस्व क्षत्रियोऽसि कुलोद्भवः। कौरवेयो विशेषेण कुले जन्म च संस्मर ॥९-३०-२०॥

क्षीणरत्नां च पृथिवीं हतक्षत्रियपुङ्गवाम्। नाभ्युत्सहाम्यहं भोक्तुं विधवामिव योषितम् ॥९-३०-४२॥
kṣīṇaratnāṃ ca pṛthivīṃ hatakṣatriyapuṅgavām। nābhyutsahāmyahaṃ bhoktuṃ vidhavāmiva yoṣitam ॥9-30-42॥

हतबान्धवभूयिष्ठा हताश्वा हतकुञ्जरा। एषा ते पृथिवी राजन्भुङ्क्ष्वैनां विगतज्वरः ॥९-३०-४८॥
hatabāndhavabhūyiṣṭhā hatāśvā hatakuñjarā। eṣā te pṛthivī rājanbhuṅkṣvaināṃ vigatajvaraḥ ॥9-30-48॥

(Mostly with relatives killed, horses killed, elephants killed, this earth is yours, O king, enjoy it free from fever.)
O king, most of your relatives, horses, and elephants have been killed. Now, this earth is yours to enjoy without any distress.
वनमेव गमिष्यामि वसानो मृगचर्मणी। न हि मे निर्जितस्यास्ति जीवितेऽद्य स्पृहा विभो ॥९-३०-४९॥
vanameva gamiṣyāmi vasāno mṛgacaramaṇī। na hi me nirjitasyaasti jīvite'dya spṛhā vibho ॥9-30-49॥

yadi cāpi samarthaḥ syāstvaṃ dānāya suyodhana। nāhamiccheyamavaniṃ tvayā dattāṃ praśāsitum ॥9-30-52॥

tvayā dattāṃ na ceccheyaṃ pṛthivīmakhilāmaham। tvāṃ tu yuddhe vinirjitya bhoktāsmi vasudhāmimām ॥9-30-54॥

धर्मतो याचमानानां शमार्थं च कुलस्य नः। वार्ष्णेयं प्रथमं राजन्प्रत्याख्याय महाबलम् ॥९-३०-५६॥
dharmato yācamānānāṃ śamārthaṃ ca kulasya naḥ। vārṣṇeyaṃ prathamaṃ rājanpratyākhyāya mahābalam ॥9-30-56॥

(O Bhārata, even that which could be held by the tip of a needle of the earth, even that amount you did not give to me formerly.)

स कथं पृथिवीमेतां प्रददासि विशां पते। सूच्यग्रं नात्यजः पूर्वं स कथं त्यजसि क्षितिम् ॥९-३०-६०॥
sa kathaṁ pṛthivīmetāṁ pradadāsi viśāṁ pate। sūcyagraṁ nātyajaḥ pūrvaṁ sa kathaṁ tyajasi kṣitim ॥9-30-60॥

(He, how do you give this earth, O lord of the people? Not even a needle's point you abandoned before, how do you abandon the earth?)
How do you, O lord of the people, give away this earth? You did not abandon even a needle's point before, so how do you abandon the earth now?
एवमैश्वर्यमासाद्य प्रशास्य पृथिवीमिमाम्। को हि मूढो व्यवस्येत शत्रोर्दातुं वसुन्धराम् ॥९-३०-६१॥
evamaiśvaryamāsādya praśāsya pṛthivīmimām। ko hi mūḍho vyavasyeta śatrordātuṃ vasundharām ॥9-30-61॥

(Thus, having obtained sovereignty and ruled this earth, who indeed would be foolish to decide to give the earth to the enemy?)

त्वं तु केवलमौर्ख्येण विमूढो नावबुध्यसे। पृथिवीं दातुकामोऽपि जीवितेनाद्य मोक्ष्यसे ॥९-३०-६२॥
tvaṁ tu kevalamaurkhyēṇa vimūḍhō nāvabudhyasē. pṛthivīṁ dātukāmō'pi jīvitēnādyamōkṣyasē ॥9-30-62॥
[त्वम् (tvam) - you; तु (tu) - but; केवल (kevala) - only; मौर्ख्येण (maurkhyēṇa) - by foolishness; विमूढः (vimūḍhaḥ) - deluded; न (na) - not; अवबुध्यसे (avabudhyasē) - you understand; पृथिवीम् (pṛthivīm) - earth; दातुकामः (dātukāmaḥ) - desiring to give; अपि (api) - even; जीवितेन (jīvitēna) - with life; अद्य (adya) - today; मोक्ष्यसे (mokṣyasē) - you will be released;]
(But you, only by foolishness, deluded, do not understand. Desiring to give the earth, even with life, today you will be released.)
But you, in your sheer foolishness, are deluded and do not understand. Even though you wish to give away the earth, today you will lose your life.
अस्मान्वा त्वं पराजित्य प्रशाधि पृथिवीमिमाम्। अथ वा निहतोऽस्माभिर्व्रज लोकाननुत्तमान् ॥९-३०-६३॥
asmānvā tvaṃ parājitya praśādhi pṛthivīmimām। atha vā nihato'smābhirvraja lokānanuttamān ॥9-30-63॥
[अस्मान् (asmān) - us; वा (vā) - or; त्वम् (tvam) - you; पराजित्य (parājitya) - having conquered; प्रशाधि (praśādhi) - rule; पृथिवीम् (pṛthivīm) - earth; इमाम् (imām) - this; अथ (atha) - or; वा (vā) - or; निहतः (nihataḥ) - killed; अस्माभिः (asmābhiḥ) - by us; व्रज (vraja) - go; लोकान् (lokān) - worlds; अनुत्तमान् (anuttamān) - supreme;]
(Conquer us or rule this earth. Or, if killed by us, go to the supreme worlds.)
You may either conquer us and rule this earth, or if you are killed by us, you will attain the supreme worlds.
आवयोर्जीवतो राजन्मयि च त्वयि च ध्रुवम्। संशयः सर्वभूतानां विजये नो भविष्यति ॥९-३०-६४॥
āvayorjīvato rājanmayi ca tvayi ca dhruvam। saṃśayaḥ sarvabhūtānāṃ vijaye no bhaviṣyati ॥9-30-64॥
[आवयोः (āvayoḥ) - of us both; जीवत: (jīvataḥ) - living; राजन् (rājan) - O King; मयि (mayi) - in me; च (ca) - and; त्वयि (tvayi) - in you; च (ca) - and; ध्रुवम् (dhruvam) - certain; संशयः (saṃśayaḥ) - doubt; सर्वभूतानां (sarvabhūtānāṃ) - of all beings; विजये (vijaye) - in victory; नः (naḥ) - our; भविष्यति (bhaviṣyati) - will be;]
(Of us both living, O King, in me and in you, there is certainly doubt of all beings in victory; our will be.)
O King, as long as both of us are alive, there will certainly be doubt among all beings about our victory.
जीवितं तव दुष्प्रज्ञ मयि सम्प्रति वर्तते। जीवयेयं त्वहं कामं न तु त्वं जीवितुं क्षमः ॥९-३०-६५॥
jīvitaṁ tava duṣprajña mayi samprati vartate। jīvayeyaṁ tvahaṁ kāmaṁ na tu tvaṁ jīvituṁ kṣamaḥ ॥9-30-65॥
[जीवितम् (jīvitam) - life; तव (tava) - your; दुष्प्रज्ञ (duṣprajña) - foolish; मयि (mayi) - in me; सम्प्रति (samprati) - now; वर्तते (vartate) - exists; जीवयेयम् (jīvayeyam) - I could sustain; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अहम् (aham) - I; कामम् (kāmam) - willingly; न (na) - not; तु (tu) - but; क्षमः (kṣamaḥ) - capable; जीवितुम् (jīvitum) - to live;]
(Your life, foolish one, now exists in me. I could sustain you willingly, but you are not capable of living.)
"Foolish one, your life is now in my hands. I could willingly keep you alive, but you are not capable of surviving on your own."
दहने हि कृतो यत्नस्त्वयास्मासु विशेषतः। आशीविषैर्विषैश्चापि जले चापि प्रवेशनैः ॥
dahane hi kṛto yatnastvayāsmāsu viśeṣataḥ। āśīviṣairviṣaiścāpi jale cāpi praveśanaiḥ॥
[दहने (dahane) - in burning; हि (hi) - indeed; कृतः (kṛtaḥ) - made; यत्नः (yatnaḥ) - effort; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; अस्मासु (asmāsu) - on us; विशेषतः (viśeṣataḥ) - especially; आशीविषैः (āśīviṣaiḥ) - with serpents; विषैः (viṣaiḥ) - with poisons; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; जले (jale) - in water; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; प्रवेशनैः (praveśanaiḥ) - by immersions;]
(Indeed, effort was made by you on us especially in burning, with serpents, with poisons, and also by immersions in water.)
You made a special effort to harm us, especially by burning, using serpents, poisons, and immersing us in water.
एतस्मात्कारणात्पाप जीवितं ते न विद्यते। उत्तिष्ठोत्तिष्ठ युध्यस्व तत्ते श्रेयो भविष्यति ॥९-३०-६७॥
etasmātkāraṇātpāpa jīvitaṃ te na vidyate। uttiṣṭhottiṣṭha yudhyasva tatte śreyo bhaviṣyati ॥9-30-67॥
[एतस्मात् (etasmāt) - from this; कारणात् (kāraṇāt) - reason; पाप (pāpa) - sinful; जीवितं (jīvitaṃ) - life; ते (te) - your; न (na) - not; विद्यते (vidyate) - exists; उत्तिष्ठ (uttiṣṭha) - arise; उत्तिष्ठ (uttiṣṭha) - arise; युध्यस्व (yudhyasva) - fight; तत् (tat) - that; ते (te) - your; श्रेयः (śreyaḥ) - welfare; भविष्यति (bhaviṣyati) - will be;]
(From this reason, sinful life does not exist for you. Arise, arise, fight, that will be your welfare.)
Because of this reason, a sinful life does not exist for you. Arise and fight, for that will lead to your welfare.
सञ्जय उवाच॥

[सञ्जयः (sañjayaḥ) - Sanjaya; उवाच (uvāca) - said;]

एवं तु विविधा वाचो जययुक्ताः पुनः पुनः। कीर्तयन्ति स्म ते वीरास्तत्र तत्र जनाधिप ॥९-३०-६८॥
evaṁ tu vividhā vāco jayayuktāḥ punaḥ punaḥ। kīrtayanti sma te vīrāstatra tatra janādhipa ॥9-30-68॥
[एवं (evaṁ) - thus; तु (tu) - but; विविधा (vividhā) - various; वाचः (vācaḥ) - words; जययुक्ताः (jayayuktāḥ) - filled with victory; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; कीर्तयन्ति (kīrtayanti) - praise; स्म (sma) - indeed; ते (te) - they; वीराः (vīrāḥ) - heroes; तत्र (tatra) - there; तत्र (tatra) - there; जनाधिप (janādhipa) - O ruler of people;]
(Thus, various words filled with victory were praised again and again by those heroes there, O ruler of people.)
Thus, O ruler of people, those heroes repeatedly praised various victorious words in different places.
