स दृष्ट्वा निहतान्सङ्ख्ये पुत्रान्भ्रातॄन्सखींस्तथा। महादुःखपरीतात्मा बभूव जनमेजय ॥१०-११-१॥
sa dṛṣṭvā nihatān saṅkhye putrān bhrātṝn sakhīṁs tathā। mahāduḥkha-parītātmā babhūva janamejaya ॥10-11-1॥
[स (sa) - he; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; निहतान् (nihatān) - slain; सङ्ख्ये (saṅkhye) - in battle; पुत्रान् (putrān) - sons; भ्रातॄन् (bhrātṝn) - brothers; सखीन् (sakhīn) - friends; तथा (tathā) - also; महादुःखपरीतात्मा (mahāduḥkha-parītātmā) - overwhelmed by great sorrow; बभूव (babhūva) - became; जनमेजय (janamejaya) - Janamejaya;]
(He, having seen his sons, brothers, and friends slain in battle, Janamejaya became overwhelmed by great sorrow.)
When Janamejaya saw his sons, brothers, and friends slain in battle, he was overcome with immense grief.
ततस्तस्य महाञ्शोकः प्रादुरासीन्महात्मनः। स्मरतः पुत्रपौत्राणां भ्रातॄणां स्वजनस्य ह ॥१०-११-२॥
tatas tasya mahāñśokaḥ prādurāsīn mahātmanaḥ। smarataḥ putrapautrāṇāṃ bhrātṝṇāṃ svajanasya ha ॥10-11-2॥

तमश्रुपरिपूर्णाक्षं वेपमानमचेतसम्। सुहृदो भृशसंविग्नाः सान्त्वयां चक्रिरे तदा ॥१०-११-३॥

ततस्तस्मिन्क्षणे काल्ये रथेनादित्यवर्चसा। नकुलः कृष्णया सार्धमुपायात्परमार्तया ॥१०-११-४॥
tatas tasmin kṣaṇe kālye rathena ādityavarcasā। nakulaḥ kṛṣṇayā sārdham upāyāt paramārtayā ॥10-11-4॥

(Then, at that moment in the morning, Nakula, together with Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī), arrived by a chariot with the brilliance of the sun, in great distress.)
Then, at that very morning, Nakula arrived with Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) in a radiant chariot, both deeply distressed.
उपप्लव्यगता सा तु श्रुत्वा सुमहदप्रियम्। तदा विनाशं पुत्राणां सर्वेषां व्यथिताभवत् ॥१०-११-५॥
upaplavya-gatā sā tu śrutvā sumahad-apriyam। tadā vināśaṃ putrāṇāṃ sarveṣāṃ vyathitābhavat ॥10-11-5॥

(Having gone to Upaplavya, she, but having heard very great unpleasant (news), then the destruction of all (her) sons, became distressed.)
But when she went to Upaplavya and heard the extremely unpleasant news, she became distressed at the destruction of all her sons.
कम्पमानेव कदली वातेनाभिसमीरिता। कृष्णा राजानमासाद्य शोकार्ता न्यपतद्भुवि ॥१०-११-६॥
kampamāneva kadalī vātenābhisamīritā। kṛṣṇā rājānam āsādya śokārtā nyapatad bhuvi ॥10-11-6॥

(Trembling like a plantain tree blown by the wind, Kṛṣṇā, afflicted by grief, approached the king and fell down on the ground.)

बभूव वदनं तस्याः सहसा शोककर्शितम्। फुल्लपद्मपलाशाक्ष्यास्तमोध्वस्त इवांशुमान् ॥१०-११-७॥
babhūva vadanaṃ tasyāḥ sahasā śokakarśitam। phullapadmapalāśākṣyāstamodhvasta ivāṃśumān ॥10-11-7॥

ततस्तां पतितां दृष्ट्वा संरम्भी सत्यविक्रमः। बाहुभ्यां परिजग्राह समुपेत्य वृकोदरः ॥१०-११-८॥

The radiant lady Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī), comforted by Bhīmasena, weeping, spoke to Pāṇḍava (Yudhiṣṭhira) and his brother.
दिष्ट्या राजंस्त्वमद्येमामखिलां भोक्ष्यसे महीम्। आत्मजान्क्षत्रधर्मेण सम्प्रदाय यमाय वै ॥१०-११-१०॥
diṣṭyā rājan tvam adya imam akhilāṃ bhokṣyase mahīm। ātmajān kṣatradharmeṇa sampradāya yamāya vai ॥10-11-10॥
[दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - by fortune; राजन् (rājan) - O king; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अद्य (adya) - today; इमाम् (imām) - this; अखिलाम् (akhilām) - entire; भोक्ष्यसे (bhokṣyase) - will enjoy; महीम् (mahīm) - earth; आत्मजान् (ātmajān) - sons; क्षत्रधर्मेण (kṣatradharmeṇa) - by the duty of a warrior; सम्प्रदाय (sampradāya) - having consigned; यमाय (yamāya) - to Yama (god of death); वै (vai) - indeed;]
(By fortune, O king, you today will enjoy this entire earth, having consigned your sons to Yama by the duty of a warrior.)
O king, by good fortune, today you will enjoy the entire earth, having sent your sons to Yama in accordance with the warrior's duty.
दिष्ट्या त्वं पार्थ कुशली मत्तमातङ्गगामिनम्। अवाप्य पृथिवीं कृत्स्नां सौभद्रं न स्मरिष्यसि ॥१०-११-११॥
diṣṭyā tvaṃ pārtha kuśalī mattamātaṅgagāminam। avāpya pṛthivīṃ kṛtsnāṃ saubhadraṃ na smariṣyasi ॥10-11-11॥
[दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - by fortune; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; पार्थ (pārtha) - O son of Pritha; कुशली (kuśalī) - safe; मत्तमातङ्गगामिनम् (mattamātaṅgagāminam) - one who moves like an intoxicated elephant; अवाप्य (avāpya) - having obtained; पृथिवीं (pṛthivīṃ) - the earth; कृत्स्नां (kṛtsnāṃ) - entire; सौभद्रं (saubhadraṃ) - Abhimanyu; न (na) - not; स्मरिष्यसि (smariṣyasi) - you will remember;]
(By fortune, you, O son of Pritha, safe, one who moves like an intoxicated elephant, having obtained the entire earth, Abhimanyu, you will not remember.)
By good fortune, O Partha, you are safe. Even if you gain the whole earth and move like a proud elephant, you will not remember Abhimanyu.
आत्मजांस्तेन धर्मेण श्रुत्वा शूरान्निपातितान्। उपप्लव्ये मया सार्धं दिष्ट्या त्वं न स्मरिष्यसि ॥१०-११-१२॥
ātmajāṃs tena dharmeṇa śrutvā śūrān nipātitān। upaplavye mayā sārdhaṃ diṣṭyā tvaṃ na smariṣyasi ॥10-11-12॥

(Sons by him by righteousness having heard heroes slain at Upaplavya by me together by fortune you not will remember.)
Having heard that your sons, the brave ones, were slain righteously by him at Upaplavya together with me, fortunately you will not remember.
प्रसुप्तानां वधं श्रुत्वा द्रौणिना पापकर्मणा। शोकस्तपति मां पार्थ हुताशन इवाशयम् ॥१०-११-१३॥
prasuptānāṃ vadhaṃ śrutvā drauṇinā pāpakarmaṇā। śokastapati māṃ pārtha hutāśana ivāśayam ॥10-11-13॥
[प्रसुप्तानाम् (prasuptānām) - of those who were sleeping; वधम् (vadham) - the killing; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; द्रौणिना (drauṇinā) - by the son of Droṇa; पापकर्मणा (pāpakarmaṇā) - by the evil-doer; शोकः (śokaḥ) - grief; तपति (tapati) - burns; माम् (mām) - me; पार्थ (pārtha) - O Pārtha; हुताशनः (hutāśanaḥ) - fire; इव (iva) - like; आशयम् (āśayam) - the heart;]
(Having heard of the killing of those who were sleeping by the son of Droṇa, the evil-doer, grief burns me, O Pārtha, like fire burns the heart.)
O Pārtha, having heard that the evil-doer, the son of Droṇa, killed those who were sleeping, grief burns my heart like fire.
तस्य पापकृतो द्रौणेर्न चेदद्य त्वया मृधे। ह्रियते सानुबन्धस्य युधि विक्रम्य जीवितम् ॥१०-११-१४॥
tasya pāpakṛto drauṇer na ced adya tvayā mṛdhe। hriyate sānubandhasya yudhi vikramya jīvitam ॥10-11-14॥

(If today in battle by you the life of Drona's evil-doer son, who has followers, is not taken away after conquering,)
If today you do not, in battle, take the life of Drona's evil-doer son, who has followers, after conquering him,
इहैव प्रायमासिष्ये तन्निबोधत पाण्डवाः। न चेत्फलमवाप्नोति द्रौणिः पापस्य कर्मणः ॥१०-११-१५॥
ihaiva prāyamāsiṣye tannibodhata pāṇḍavāḥ। na cet phalam avāpnoti drauṇiḥ pāpasya karmaṇaḥ ॥10-11-15॥
[इहैव (ihaiva) - here itself; प्रायम् (prāyam) - death rites; आसिष्ये (āsiṣye) - I shall perform; तत् (tat) - that; निबोधत (nibodhata) - know; पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - O Pāṇḍavas; न (na) - not; चेत् (cet) - if; फलम् (phalam) - fruit; अवाप्नोति (avāpnoti) - obtains; द्रौणिः (drauṇiḥ) - the son of Droṇa; पापस्य (pāpasya) - of sin; कर्मणः (karmaṇaḥ) - of the act;]
(Here itself I shall perform the death rites, know that, O Pāṇḍavas. If the son of Droṇa does not obtain the fruit of the sinful act.)
Here itself I will perform the last rites, know this, O Pāṇḍavas. If the son of Droṇa does not reap the consequences of his sinful deed.
एवमुक्त्वा ततः कृष्णा पाण्डवं प्रत्युपाविशत्। युधिष्ठिरं याज्ञसेनी धर्मराजं यशस्विनी ॥१०-११-१६॥
evam-uktvā tataḥ kṛṣṇā pāṇḍavaṃ pratyupāviśat। yudhiṣṭhiraṃ yājñasenī dharmarājaṃ yaśasvinī ॥10-11-16॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्त्वा (uktvā) - having spoken; ततः (tataḥ) - then; कृष्णा (kṛṣṇā) - Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī); पाण्डवं (pāṇḍavam) - to the Pāṇḍava; प्रत्युपाविशत् (pratyupāviśat) - sat near; युधिष्ठिरं (yudhiṣṭhiraṃ) - Yudhiṣṭhira; याज्ञसेनी (yājñasenī) - Yājñasenī (Draupadī); धर्मराजं (dharmarājaṃ) - Dharmarāja (Yudhiṣṭhira); यशस्विनी (yaśasvinī) - the illustrious lady;]
(Thus having spoken, then Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) sat near the Pāṇḍava, Yudhiṣṭhira. Yājñasenī, the illustrious lady, (sat near) Dharmarāja (Yudhiṣṭhira).)
Having said this, Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī), the illustrious Yājñasenī, sat down near Yudhiṣṭhira, the righteous king.
दृष्ट्वोपविष्टां राजर्षिः पाण्डवो महिषीं प्रियाम्। प्रत्युवाच स धर्मात्मा द्रौपदीं चारुदर्शनाम् ॥१०-११-१७॥
dṛṣṭvopaviṣṭāṃ rājarṣiḥ pāṇḍavo mahiṣīṃ priyām। pratyuvāca sa dharmātmā draupadīṃ cārudarśanām ॥10-11-17॥

(Having seen the beloved queen seated, the royal sage, the son of Pandu, that righteous one, addressed Draupadi of lovely appearance.)

धर्म्यं धर्मेण धर्मज्ञे प्राप्तास्ते निधनं शुभे। पुत्रास्ते भ्रातरश्चैव तान्न शोचितुमर्हसि ॥१०-११-१८॥
dharmyaṃ dharmeṇa dharmajñe prāptās te nidhanaṃ śubhe। putrās te bhrātaraś caiva tān na śocitum arhasi॥10-11-18॥
[धर्म्यं (dharmyam) - righteous; धर्मेण (dharmeṇa) - by righteousness; धर्मज्ञे (dharmajñe) - O knower of righteousness; प्राप्ताः (prāptāḥ) - have attained; ते (te) - your; निधनं (nidhanaṃ) - death; शुभे (śubhe) - O auspicious one; पुत्राः (putrāḥ) - sons; ते (te) - your; भ्रातरः (bhrātaraḥ) - brothers; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; तान् (tān) - them; न (na) - not; शोचितुम् (śocitum) - to grieve; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you ought;]
(Your sons and brothers, O knower of righteousness, O auspicious one, have attained a righteous death by righteousness. You ought not to grieve for them.)
O knower of righteousness, O auspicious one, your sons and brothers have met a righteous end through righteousness. Therefore, you should not grieve for them.
द्रोणपुत्रः स कल्याणि वनं दूरमितो गतः। तस्य त्वं पातनं सङ्ख्ये कथं ज्ञास्यसि शोभने ॥१०-११-१९॥

(Of Drona's son, the gem born with (him) on the head, to me has been heard. Having slain (him) in battle, that sin I would see, the gem brought. O king, on the head, that having placed, I would live—thus my thought.)
I have heard that Drona's son has a gem naturally on his head. If I slay him in battle and bring that gem, O king, placing it on my own head, I believe I will survive.

(Thus having spoken to Pāṇḍava, Kṛṣṇā of beautiful appearance, then approaching the king and Bhīmasena, angry, spoke words.)
Having thus addressed Pāṇḍava, Kṛṣṇā, beautiful in appearance, then approached the king and Bhīmasena and, being angry, spoke these words.
त्रातुमर्हसि मां भीम क्षत्रधर्ममनुस्मरन्। जहि तं पापकर्माणं शम्बरं मघवानिव ॥ न हि ते विक्रमे तुल्यः पुमानस्तीह कश्चन ॥१०-११-२२॥
trātum arhasi māṃ bhīma kṣatradharmam anusmaran। jahi taṃ pāpakarmāṇaṃ śambaraṃ maghavān iva ॥ na hi te vikrame tulyaḥ pumān asti iha kaścana ॥10-11-22॥
[त्रातुम् (trātum) - to protect; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you ought; माम् (mām) - me; भीम (bhīma) - O Bhima; क्षत्रधर्मम् (kṣatradharmam) - the duty of a warrior; अनुस्मरन् (anusmaran) - remembering; जहि (jahi) - slay; तम् (tam) - him; पापकर्माणम् (pāpakarmāṇam) - wicked-deed-doer; शम्बरम् (śambaram) - Śambara; मघवान् (maghavān) - Indra; इव (iva) - like; न (na) - not; हि (hi) - indeed; ते (te) - your; विक्रमॆ (vikrame) - in prowess; तुल्यः (tulyaḥ) - equal; पुमान् (pumān) - man; अस्ति (asti) - exists; इह (iha) - here; कश्चन (kaścana) - anyone;]
(You ought to protect me, O Bhima, remembering the duty of a warrior. Slay that wicked-deed-doer Śambara, like Indra (did). Indeed, there is not any man here equal to you in prowess.)
O Bhima, you should protect me by remembering your warrior's duty. Kill that evil-doer Śambara as Indra did. Truly, there is no one here who matches you in valor.
श्रुतं तत्सर्वलोकेषु परमव्यसने यथा। द्वीपोऽभूस्त्वं हि पार्थानां नगरे वारणावते ॥ हिडिम्बदर्शने चैव तथा त्वमभवो गतिः ॥१०-११-२३॥
śrutaṃ tatsarvalokeṣu paramavyasane yathā। dvīpo'bhūstvaṃ hi pārthānāṃ nagare vāraṇāvate ॥ hiḍimbadarśane caiva tathā tvamabhavo gatiḥ ॥10-11-23॥
[श्रुतं (śrutam) - heard; तत् (tat) - that; सर्वलोकेषु (sarvalokeṣu) - in all worlds; परमव्यसने (paramavyasane) - in the greatest calamity; यथा (yathā) - as; द्वीपः (dvīpaḥ) - island; अभूः (abhūḥ) - became; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; हि (hi) - indeed; पार्थानाम् (pārthānām) - of the sons of Pṛthā (Pāṇḍavas); नगरे (nagare) - in the city; वारणावते (vāraṇāvate) - Vāraṇāvata; हिडिम्बदर्शने (hiḍimbadarśane) - at the meeting with Hiḍimbā; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; तथा (tathā) - so; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अभवः (abhavaḥ) - became; गतिः (gatiḥ) - refuge;]
(It is heard that in all worlds, as in the greatest calamity, you became an island for the sons of Pṛthā in the city of Vāraṇāvata; and at the meeting with Hiḍimbā, so you became the refuge.)
It is known everywhere that, during the greatest danger, you were like an island of safety for the Pāṇḍavas in the city of Vāraṇāvata; and likewise, at the encounter with Hiḍimbā, you became their refuge.
तथा विराटनगरे कीचकेन भृशार्दिताम्। मामप्युद्धृतवान्कृच्छ्रात्पौलोमीं मघवानिव ॥१०-११-२४॥
tathā virāṭanagare kīcakena bhṛśārditām। māmapyuddhṛtvān kṛcchrāt paulomīṃ maghavāniva ॥10-11-24॥
[तथा (tathā) - in the same way; विराटनगरे (virāṭanagare) - in the city of Virāṭa; कीचकेन (kīcakena) - by Kīcaka; भृशार्दिताम् (bhṛśārditām) - greatly afflicted; माम् (mām) - me; अपि (api) - also; उद्धृतवान् (uddhṛtvān) - rescued; कृच्छ्रात् (kṛcchrāt) - from distress; पौलोमीम् (paulomīm) - Paulomī (Sachi, Indra's wife); मघवान् (maghavān) - Maghavān (Indra); इव (iva) - like;]
(In the same way, in the city of Virāṭa, by Kīcaka greatly afflicted, me also, having rescued from distress, Paulomī (Sachi), Maghavān (Indra) like.)
In the same way, in the city of Virāṭa, I too was greatly afflicted by Kīcaka, but was rescued from distress, just as Indra rescued Paulomī (Sachi) from peril.
यथैतान्यकृथाः पार्थ महाकर्माणि वै पुरा। तथा द्रौणिममित्रघ्न विनिहत्य सुखी भव ॥१०-११-२५॥
yathaitāny akṛtāḥ pārtha mahā-karmaāṇi vai purā। tathā drauṇim amitra-ghna vinihatya sukhī bhava ॥10-11-25॥
[यथा (yathā) - just as; एतानि (etāni) - these; अकृताः (akṛtāḥ) - were not done; पार्थ (pārtha) - O Pārtha; महाकर्माणि (mahā-karmaāṇi) - great deeds; वै (vai) - indeed; पुरा (purā) - formerly; तथा (tathā) - so; द्रौणिम् (drauṇim) - the son of Droṇa; अमित्रघ्न (amitra-ghna) - destroyer of enemies; विनिहत्य (vinihatya) - having slain; सुखी (sukhī) - happy; भव (bhava) - be;]
(Just as these great deeds, O Pārtha, were not done formerly, so, having slain the son of Droṇa, the destroyer of enemies, be happy.)
O Pārtha, just as these great deeds were not accomplished before, in the same way, after slaying the son of Droṇa, the destroyer of enemies, be happy.
तस्या बहुविधं दुःखान्निशम्य परिदेवितम्। नामर्षयत कौन्तेयो भीमसेनो महाबलः ॥१०-११-२६॥
tasyā bahuvidhaṃ duḥkhānniśamya paridevitam। nāmarṣayata kaunteyo bhīmaseno mahābalaḥ ॥10-11-26॥
[तस्या (tasyā) - her; बहुविधं (bahuvidhaṃ) - of many kinds; दुःखात् (duḥkhāt) - from sorrow; निशम्य (niśamya) - having heard; परिदेवितम् (paridevitam) - lamentation; न (na) - not; अमर्षयत् (amarṣayat) - could bear; कौन्तेयः (kaunteyaḥ) - the son of Kunti; भीमसेनः (bhīmasenaḥ) - Bhimasena; महाबलः (mahābalaḥ) - mighty;]
(Having heard her lamentation of many kinds from sorrow, the mighty Bhimasena, the son of Kunti, could not bear it.)
When Bhimasena, the mighty son of Kunti, heard her many kinds of lamentation arising from sorrow, he could not endure it.
स काञ्चनविचित्राङ्गमारुरोह महारथम्। आदाय रुचिरं चित्रं समार्गणगुणं धनुः ॥१०-११-२७॥
sa kāñcanavicitrāṅgam āruroha mahāratham। ādāya ruciraṃ citraṃ samārgaṇaguṇaṃ dhanuḥ ॥10-11-27॥
[स (sa) - he; काञ्चनविचित्राङ्गम् (kāñcana-vicitra-aṅgam) - with golden and wonderful body; आरुरोह (āruroha) - ascended; महारथम् (mahāratham) - great chariot; आदाय (ādāya) - having taken; रुचिरम् (ruciram) - splendid; चित्रम् (citram) - variegated; समार्गणगुणम् (samārgaṇa-guṇam) - with string fit for arrows; धनुः (dhanuḥ) - bow;]
(He, with a golden and wonderful body, ascended the great chariot, having taken the splendid, variegated bow with a string fit for arrows.)
He, possessing a golden and marvelous form, mounted the great chariot, taking up the splendid, decorated bow strung for arrows.
नकुलं सारथिं कृत्वा द्रोणपुत्रवधे वृतः। विस्फार्य सशरं चापं तूर्णमश्वानचोदयत् ॥१०-११-२८॥
nakulaṃ sārathiṃ kṛtvā droṇaputravadhe vṛtaḥ। visphārya saśaraṃ cāpaṃ tūrṇamaśvānacodayat ॥10-11-28॥
[नकुलम् (nakulam) - Nakulam; सारथिम् (sārathim) - as charioteer; कृत्वा (kṛtvā) - having made; द्रोणपुत्रवधे (droṇaputravadhe) - for the slaying of Drona's son; वृतः (vṛtaḥ) - engaged; विस्फार्य (visphārya) - having drawn; सशरम् (saśaram) - with arrow; चापम् (cāpam) - the bow; तूर्णम् (tūrṇam) - quickly; अश्वान् (aśvān) - the horses; अचोदयत् (acodayat) - he urged on;]
(Having made Nakula the charioteer, engaged for the slaying of Drona's son, having drawn the bow with an arrow, he quickly urged on the horses.)
He appointed Nakula as his charioteer and, determined to slay Drona's son, drew his bow with an arrow and quickly urged the horses onward.
ते हयाः पुरुषव्याघ्र चोदिता वातरंहसः। वेगेन त्वरिता जग्मुर्हरयः शीघ्रगामिनः ॥१०-११-२९॥
te hayāḥ puruṣavyāghra coditā vātaraṃhasaḥ। vegena tvaritā jagmur harayaḥ śīghragāminaḥ ॥10-11-29॥
[ते (te) - they; हयाः (hayāḥ) - horses; पुरुषव्याघ्र (puruṣavyāghra) - O tiger among men; चोदिताः (coditāḥ) - urged; वातरंहसः (vātaraṃhasaḥ) - with the speed of the wind; वेगेन (vegena) - with speed; त्वरिताः (tvaritāḥ) - quickened; जग्मुः (jagmuḥ) - went; हरयः (harayaḥ) - the steeds; शीघ्रगामिनः (śīghragāminaḥ) - swift-moving;]
(They, the horses, O tiger among men, urged with the speed of the wind, with speed, quickened, went, the steeds, swift-moving.)
O tiger among men, those horses, urged on, sped swiftly like the wind.
शिबिरात्स्वाद्गृहीत्वा स रथस्य पदमच्युतः। द्रोणपुत्ररथस्याशु ययौ मार्गेण वीर्यवान् ॥१०-११-३०॥
śibirātsvādgṛhītvā sa rathasya padamacyutaḥ। droṇaputrarathasyāśu yayau mārgeṇa vīryavān ॥10-11-30॥
[शिबिरात् (śibirāt) - from the camp; स्वात् (svāt) - from his own (camp); गृहीत्वा (gṛhītvā) - having taken; सः (saḥ) - he; रथस्य (rathasya) - of the chariot; पदम् (padam) - place; अच्युतः (acyutaḥ) - Acyuta (Krishna); द्रोणपुत्ररथस्य (droṇaputra-rathasya) - of the chariot of Drona's son; आशु (āśu) - quickly; ययौ (yayau) - went; मार्गेण (mārgeṇa) - by the path; वीर्यवान् (vīryavān) - the mighty one;]
(From the camp, having taken his own (chariot), he, Acyuta, went to the place of the chariot by the path of Drona's son quickly, the mighty one.)
Acyuta (Krishna), the mighty one, quickly took his own chariot from the camp and went by the path to the place of Drona's son's chariot.
