नेदानीमतिनिर्बन्धं शोके कर्तुमिहार्हसि। यदाह भगवान्व्यासस्तत्कुरुष्व नृपोत्तम ॥१२-३८-२१॥

ब्राह्मणास्त्वां महाबाहो भ्रातरश्च महौजसः। पर्जन्यमिव घर्मार्ता आशंसाना उपासते ॥१२-३८-२२॥
brāhmaṇās tvāṃ mahābāho bhrātaraś ca mahaujasaḥ। parjanyam iva gharmārtā āśaṃsānā upāsate॥12-38-22॥
[ब्राह्मणाः (brāhmaṇāḥ) - brāhmaṇas; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; महाबाहो (mahābāho) - O mighty-armed; भ्रातरः (bhrātaraḥ) - brothers; च (ca) - and; महौजसः (mahaujasaḥ) - of great energy; पर्जन्यम् (parjanyam) - rain-cloud; इव (iva) - like; घर्मार्ताः (gharmārtāḥ) - afflicted by heat; आशंसानाः (āśaṃsānāḥ) - hoping; उपासते (upāsate) - worship;]
(Brāhmaṇas, you, O mighty-armed, and brothers of great energy, like those afflicted by heat (longing) for a rain-cloud, hoping, worship (you).)
Brāhmaṇas and your powerful brothers, O mighty-armed one, worship you with hope, just as those suffering from heat long for the rain-cloud.
हतशिष्टाश्च राजानः कृत्स्नं चैव समागतम्। चातुर्वर्ण्यं महाराज राष्ट्रं ते कुरुजाङ्गलम् ॥१२-३८-२३॥
hataśiṣṭāś ca rājānaḥ kṛtsnaṃ caiva samāgatam। cāturvarṇyaṃ mahārāja rāṣṭraṃ te kurujāṅgalam ॥12-38-23॥

(Those kings who survived after being slain, and indeed the entire assembled fourfold order, O great king, your kingdom is the Kuru-jāṅgala.)

प्रियार्थमपि चैतेषां ब्राह्मणानां महात्मनाम्। नियोगादस्य च गुरोर्व्यासस्यामिततेजसः ॥१२-३८-२४॥

(For the sake of affection even of these Brāhmaṇas, the great-souled, and by the command of him and of the teacher Vyāsa of immeasurable brilliance.)

(Of friends and of us and others, and of Draupadī, O scorcher of foes, do what is pleasing, O destroyer of enemies, and do the welfare of the people.)
O Parantapa, do what is pleasing to your friends, to us, and to Draupadī, and also act for the welfare of the people, O destroyer of enemies.
एवमुक्तस्तु कृष्णेन राजा राजीवलोचनः। हितार्थं सर्वलोकस्य समुत्तस्थौ महातपाः ॥१२-३८-२६॥
evam-uktas-tu kṛṣṇena rājā rājīvalocanaḥ। hitārthaṃ sarvalokasya samuttasthau mahātapāḥ ॥12-38-26॥

(But having mounted the white chariot yoked with horses of great speed, desiring to fight, O king, (he) followed from behind the eldest of the Pāṇḍavas.)

(The Kuru women and all of them—Kuntī, Kṛṣṇā, and Draupadī—went by vehicles, high and low, led by Vidura.)
