When Vidura thus spoke, Dhṛtarāṣṭra, the king, became pleased on account of the actions of the king and of Jiṣṇu (Arjuna). (15-20-1)
tato'bhirūpānbhīṣmāya brāhmaṇān ṛṣisattamān। putrārthe suhṛdāṃ caiva sa samīkṣya sahasraśaḥ॥15-20-2॥
Then he, having considered by the thousands suitable brāhmaṇas and excellent sages, for Bhīṣma, for the sake of a son and the friends as well, (proceeded thus). (15-20-2)

That best among kings gave blankets, animal-skins, jewels, villages, fields, goats and sheep, ornaments, elephants, horses, girls, and excellent women again and again to the Brāhmaṇas. (15-20-4)
droṇaṃ saṅkīrt-ya bhīṣmaṃ ca somadattaṃ ca bāhlikam। duryodhanaṃ ca rājānaṃ putrāṃś-caiva pṛthak-pṛthak ॥ jayadrathapurogāṃś-ca suhṛdaś-caiva sarvaśaḥ ॥15-20-5॥
He recalled Droṇa, Bhīṣma, Somadatta, Bāhlika, Duryodhana the king, the sons individually, as well as all the friends, including those headed by Jayadratha, completely. (15-20-5)
sa śrāddhayajño vavṛdhe bahu-godhana-dakṣiṇaḥ। aneka-dhana-ratna-oghaḥ yudhiṣṭhira-mate tadā ॥15-20-6॥
At that time, the śrāddha sacrifice increased greatly with many cows and gifts of wealth, and with an abundance of riches and jewels, according to the decision of Yudhiṣṭhira. (15-20-6)
aniśaṁ yatra puruṣā gaṇakā lekhakās tathā। yudhiṣṭhirasya vacanāt tad āpṛcchanti taṁ nṛpam॥15-20-7॥
Wherever there are always men, accountants, and scribes, they inquire of that king in accordance with Yudhiṣṭhira's words. (15-20-7)
ājñāpaya kim etebhyaḥ pradeyaṃ dīyatām iti. tad upasthitam eva atra vacanānte pradṛśyate ॥15-20-8॥
Order what is to be given to these and let it be given, thus. That (intention) is indeed seen here at the end of the statement. (15-20-8)

When a hundred is to be given, a thousand is granted; and for a thousand, likewise ten thousand is granted, by the command of the wise son of Kuntī, the king. (15-20-9)
evaṃ sa vasudhārābhir varṣamāṇo nṛpāmbudaḥ। tarpayāmāsa viprāṃs tān varṣan bhūmim ivāmbudaḥ॥15-20-10॥
In this way, the king, like a cloud pouring streams of gifts, satisfied those Brāhmaṇas just as a cloud rains upon the earth. (15-20-10)
tato'nantaramevātra sarvavarṇānmahīpatiḥ| annapānarasaughena plāvayāmāsa pārthivaḥ ॥15-20-11॥
Then, immediately afterwards, here, the king deluged all castes with a flood of food and drink. (15-20-11)
savastraphēnaratnaugho mṛdaṅganinadasvanaḥ। gavāśvakarāvarto nārīratnamahākaraḥ ॥15-20-12॥

The ocean of Dhritarashtra's compassion—rich with streams of villages and gifted lands, its waters being gems and gold—inundated the world. (15-20-13)
evaṃ sa putrapautrāṇāṃ pitṝṇām ātmanas tathā। gāndhāryāś ca mahārāja pradadāv aurdhvadehikam ॥15-20-14॥
Thus, O great king, he performed the funerary rites for the sons and grandsons, the ancestors, himself, and also for Gāndhārī. (15-20-14)
pariśrānto yadāsīts dadaddānānyanekaśaḥ. tato nirvartayāmāsa dānayajñaṃ kurūdvahaḥ ॥15-20-15॥
When he was fatigued from repeatedly giving gifts, then he performed the gift-sacrifice, O best of the Kurus. (15-20-15)
evaṁ sa rāyā kauravyaś cakre dānamahotsavam। naṭa-nartaka-lāsyāḍhyaṁ bahv-annarasa-dakṣiṇam ॥15-20-16॥
Thus King Kauravya performed a great festival of charity, which was full of actors, dancers, and performances, and abundant in food, delicacies, and generous gifts. (15-20-16)
daśāham-evaṃ dānāni dattvā rājāmbikāsutaḥ। babhūva putra-pautrāṇām anṛṇo bharatarṣabha ॥15-20-17॥
