अश्रुत्वैवं वचनं ते महर्षे; मया पूर्वं यतितं कार्यमेतत्। न वै शक्यं विहितस्यापयातुं; तदेवेदमुपपन्नं विधानम् ॥१-१९०-१॥
aśrutvaivaṃ vacanaṃ te maharṣe; mayā pūrvaṃ yatitaṃ kāryametat। na vai śakyaṃ vihitasyāpayātuṃ; tadevedamupapannaṃ vidhānam ॥1-190-1॥

(Without hearing thus your word, O great sage, by me previously this action was endeavored. Indeed, it is not possible for what is ordained to be undone; that indeed is this arrangement that has occurred.)
O great sage, without having heard your words, I had already undertaken this action. What is ordained cannot be undone; therefore, this arrangement has come to pass.
दिष्टस्य ग्रन्थिरनिवर्तनीयः; स्वकर्मणा विहितं नेह किञ्चित्। कृतं निमित्तं हि वरैकहेतो; स्तदेवेदमुपपन्नं बहूनाम् ॥१-१९०-२॥
diṣṭasya granthiranivartanīyaḥ; svakarmaṇā vihitaṃ neha kiñcit. kṛtaṃ nimittaṃ hi varaikaheto; stadevedamupapannaṃ bahūnām ॥1-190-2॥

(The knot of fate is not to be undone; nothing ordained here by one's own action is anything. Indeed, what is done is for the sake of the best, for a single reason; that alone, this, is befitting for many.)
The knot of destiny cannot be undone; nothing here happens except what is ordained by one's own actions. Indeed, whatever is done for the sake of the highest cause is alone appropriate for many.
यथैव कृष्णोक्तवती पुरस्ता; न्नैकान्पतीन्मे भगवान्ददातु। स चाप्येवं वरमित्यब्रवीत्तां; देवो हि वेद परमं यदत्र ॥१-१९०-३॥
yathaiva kṛṣṇoktavatī purastā; nnaikānpatīnme bhagavāndadātu. sa cāpy evaṃ varam ity abravīttāṃ; devo hi veda paramaṃ yad atra ॥1-190-3॥

(Just as (it was) indeed spoken by Kṛṣṇa before, may the Lord not give me only one lord. And he also thus said to her, "This boon (is granted)," for the god indeed knows the supreme (truth) that is here.)
Just as Kṛṣṇa had spoken before, may the Lord not grant me only one husband. And he also said to her, "This boon is granted," for the god indeed knows the highest truth here.
यदि वायं विहितः शङ्करेण; धर्मोऽधर्मो वा नात्र ममापराधः। गृह्णन्त्विमे विधिवत्पाणिमस्या; यथोपजोषं विहितैषां हि कृष्णा ॥१-१९०-४॥

(If this is ordained by Śaṅkara, whether it is righteousness or unrighteousness, here there is no fault of mine. Let these take the hand of her according to rule, as with consent, by those ordained, indeed Kṛṣṇā.)
If this has been ordained by Śaṅkara, whether it is right or wrong, I am not at fault here. Let these men take Kṛṣṇā's hand according to the prescribed rules, as is proper and with the consent of those appointed.

Accompanied by the priest, whose brilliance was equal to Agni, and by Dhaumya, all of them, following the prescribed rules, O lord, entered the assembly in order, rejoicing like great bulls entering a cowshed.
ततः समाधाय स वेदपारगो; जुहाव मन्त्रैर्ज्वलितं हुताशनम्। युधिष्ठिरं चाप्युपनीय मन्त्रवि; न्नियोजयामास सहैव कृष्णया ॥१-१९०-११॥

प्रदक्षिणं तौ प्रगृहीतपाणी; समानयामास स वेदपारगः। ततोऽभ्यनुज्ञाय तमाजिशोभिनं; पुरोहितो राजगृहाद्विनिर्ययौ ॥१-१९०-१२॥

(In order, and by this, the sons of kings accepted the hands of those excellent women then. Day by day, the great chariot-warriors, possessing excellent form, enhancers of the Kaurava lineage.)

(This and there of wonderful form excellent; spoke the Brāhmaṇa sage surpassing human. Great-souled indeed she slender-waisted; became maiden indeed as each day passed day.)
