ततो वयं प्रव्यथिताः सर्वा भरतसत्तम । आयाम शरणं विप्रं तं तपोधनमच्युतम् ॥१-२०९-१॥
tato vayaṃ pravyathitāḥ sarvā bharatasattama । āyāma śaraṇaṃ vipraṃ taṃ tapodhanamacyutam ॥1-209-1॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; वयम् (vayam) - we; प्रव्यथिताः (pravyathitāḥ) - greatly agitated; सर्वाः (sarvāḥ) - all; भरतसत्तम (bharatasattama) - O best of the Bharatas; आयाम (āyāma) - let us go; शरणम् (śaraṇam) - for refuge; विप्रम् (vipram) - to the Brāhmaṇa; तम् (tam) - him; तपोधनम् (tapodhanam) - ascetic-wealthy; अच्युतम् (acyutam) - imperishable;]
(Then we, all greatly agitated, O best of the Bharatas, let us go for refuge to that Brāhmaṇa, the ascetic-wealthy, the imperishable.)
Then, O best of the Bharatas, all of us, greatly agitated, let us seek refuge with that imperishable ascetic Brāhmaṇa.
रूपेण वयसा चैव कन्दर्पेण च दर्पिताः । अयुक्तं कृतवत्यः स्म क्षन्तुमर्हसि नो द्विज ॥१-२०९-२॥
rūpeṇa vayasā caiva kandarpeṇa ca darpitāḥ । ayuktaṃ kṛtavatyaḥ sma kṣantum arhasi no dvija ॥1-209-2॥
[रूपेण (rūpeṇa) - by beauty; वयसा (vayasā) - by youth; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; कन्दर्पेण (kandarpeṇa) - by (the god of) love; च (ca) - and; दर्पिताः (darpitāḥ) - made proud; अयुक्तं (ayuktaṃ) - improper; कृतवत्यः (kṛtavatyaḥ) - having done; स्म (sma) - indeed; क्षन्तुम् (kṣantum) - to forgive; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you ought; नः (naḥ) - us; द्विज (dvija) - O twice-born (Brahmin);]
(By beauty, by youth, and indeed by (the god of) love made proud, having done what is improper, indeed, you ought to forgive us, O twice-born.)
O Brahmin, made proud by beauty, youth, and the god of love, we have acted improperly; you ought to forgive us.
एष एव वधोऽस्माकं सुपर्याप्तस्तपोधन । यद्वयं संशितात्मानं प्रलोब्धुं त्वामिहागताः ॥१-२०९-३॥
eṣa eva vadho'smākaṃ suparyāptastapodhana । yadvayaṃ saṃśitātmānaṃ pralobdhuṃ tvāmihaāgatāḥ ॥1-209-3॥
[एष (eṣa) - this; एव (eva) - indeed; वधः (vadhaḥ) - destruction; अस्माकम् (asmākam) - of us; सुपर्याप्तः (suparyāptaḥ) - fully sufficient; तपोधन (tapodhana) - O ascetic rich in austerity; यत् (yat) - that; वयम् (vayam) - we; संशितात्मानम् (saṃśitātmānam) - one of firm resolve; प्रलोब्धुम् (pralobdhum) - to tempt; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; इह (iha) - here; आगताः (āgatāḥ) - have come;]
(This indeed is our destruction, O ascetic rich in austerity; that we have come here to tempt you, one of firm resolve.)
This alone is truly our ruin, O ascetic, that we have come here to tempt you, whose mind is firmly resolved.
अवध्यास्तु स्त्रियः सृष्टा मन्यन्ते धर्मचिन्तकाः । तस्माद्धर्मेण धर्मज्ञ नास्मान्हिंसितुमर्हसि ॥१-२०९-४॥
avadhyāstu striyaḥ sṛṣṭā manyante dharmacintakāḥ । tasmāddharmeṇa dharmajña nāsmāṁ hiṁsitumarhasi ॥1-209-4॥
[अवध्याः (avadhyāḥ) - not to be killed; तु (tu) - but; स्त्रियः (striyaḥ) - women; सृष्टाः (sṛṣṭāḥ) - created; मन्यन्ते (manyante) - think; धर्मचिन्तकाः (dharmacintakāḥ) - those who reflect on dharma; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; धर्मेण (dharmeṇa) - by righteousness; धर्मज्ञ (dharmajña) - knower of dharma; न (na) - not; अस्मान् (asmān) - us; हिंसितुम् (hiṁsitum) - to harm; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you ought;]
(But women are created not to be killed, so think those who reflect on dharma. Therefore, O knower of dharma, by righteousness, you ought not to harm us.)
"Women are considered by those who reflect on dharma to be not to be killed. Therefore, O knower of dharma, you should not harm us by righteousness."
सर्वभूतेषु धर्मज्ञ मैत्रो ब्राह्मण उच्यते । सत्यो भवतु कल्याण एष वादो मनीषिणाम् ॥१-२०९-५॥
sarvabhūteṣu dharmajña maitro brāhmaṇa ucyate । satyo bhavatu kalyāṇa eṣa vādo manīṣiṇām ॥1-209-5॥
[सर्वभूतेषु (sarvabhūteṣu) - in all beings; धर्मज्ञ (dharmajña) - knower of dharma; मैत्रः (maitraḥ) - friendly; ब्राह्मणः (brāhmaṇaḥ) - brāhmaṇa; उच्यते (ucyate) - is called; सत्यः (satyaḥ) - truthful; भवतु (bhavatu) - let it be; कल्याण (kalyāṇa) - auspicious; एषः (eṣaḥ) - this; वादः (vādaḥ) - statement; मनीषिणाम् (manīṣiṇām) - of the wise;]
(In all beings, the one who knows dharma, is friendly, is called a brāhmaṇa. Let this statement of the wise be true and auspicious.)

शरणं च प्रपन्नानां शिष्टाः कुर्वन्ति पालनम् । शरणं त्वां प्रपन्नाः स्म तस्मात्त्वं क्षन्तुमर्हसि ॥१-२०९-६॥
śaraṇaṃ ca prapannānāṃ śiṣṭāḥ kurvanti pālanam । śaraṇaṃ tvāṃ prapannāḥ sma tasmāttvaṃ kṣantumarhasi ॥1-209-6॥
[शरणम् (śaraṇam) - refuge; च (ca) - and; प्रपन्नानाम् (prapannānām) - of those who have taken refuge; शिष्टाः (śiṣṭāḥ) - the virtuous; कुर्वन्ति (kurvanti) - perform; पालनम् (pālanam) - protection; शरणम् (śaraṇam) - refuge; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; प्रपन्नाः (prapannāḥ) - having taken refuge; स्म (sma) - indeed; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; त्वम् (tvam) - you; क्षन्तुम् (kṣantum) - to forgive; अर्हसि (arhasi) - are worthy;]
(And the virtuous perform the protection of those who have taken refuge. Refuge, we have indeed taken in you; therefore, you are worthy to forgive.)
The virtuous protect those who seek refuge. We have sought refuge in you; therefore, you ought to forgive us.
वैशम्पायन उवाच॥

Vaiśampāyana said.
एवमुक्तस्तु धर्मात्मा ब्राह्मणः शुभकर्मकृत् । प्रसादं कृतवान्वीर रविसोमसमप्रभः ॥१-२०९-७॥
evam-uktas-tu dharmātmā brāhmaṇaḥ śubhakarmakṛt । prasādaṃ kṛtavān vīra ravisomasamaprabhaḥ ॥1-209-7॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्तः (uktaḥ) - spoken; तु (tu) - but; धर्मात्मा (dharmātmā) - righteous-souled; ब्राह्मणः (brāhmaṇaḥ) - brāhmaṇa; शुभकर्मकृत् (śubhakarmakṛt) - doer of auspicious deeds; प्रसादं (prasādam) - favor; कृतवान् (kṛtavān) - did; वीर (vīra) - hero; रविसोमसमप्रभः (ravisomasamaprabhaḥ) - having brilliance equal to the Sun and Moon;]
(Thus spoken but the righteous-souled brāhmaṇa, doer of auspicious deeds, did favor, O hero, having brilliance equal to the Sun and Moon.)
Thus, when addressed, the righteous brāhmaṇa, performer of auspicious deeds, graciously favored (him), O hero, shining with the radiance of the Sun and Moon.
ब्राह्मण उवाच॥

The brāhmaṇa said.
शतं सहस्रं विश्वं च सर्वमक्षयवाचकम् । परिमाणं शतं त्वेतन्नैतदक्षयवाचकम् ॥१-२०९-८॥
śataṃ sahasraṃ viśvaṃ ca sarvam akṣayavācakam । parimāṇaṃ śataṃ tv etan naitad akṣayavācakam ॥1-209-8॥
[शतं (śatam) - hundred; सहस्रं (sahasram) - thousand; विश्वं (viśvam) - all; च (ca) - and; सर्वम् (sarvam) - everything; अक्षयवाचकम् (akṣayavācakam) - imperishable-indicating; परिमाणं (parimāṇam) - measure; शतं (śatam) - hundred; त्व (tv) - but; एतत् (etat) - this; न (na) - not; एतत् (etat) - this; अक्षयवाचकम् (akṣayavācakam) - imperishable-indicating;]
(Hundred, thousand, all, and everything are imperishable-indicating. Measure, hundred, but this is not imperishable-indicating.)
The words 'hundred', 'thousand', 'all', and 'everything' indicate the imperishable, but when used as a measure, 'hundred' does not indicate the imperishable.
यदा च वो ग्राहभूता गृह्णन्तीः पुरुषाञ्जले । उत्कर्षति जलात्कश्चित्स्थलं पुरुषसत्तमः ॥१-२०९-९॥
yadā ca vo grāhabhūtā gṛhṇantīḥ puruṣāñjale । utkarṣati jalāt kaścit sthalaṃ puruṣasattamaḥ ॥1-209-9॥
[यदा (yadā) - when; च (ca) - and; वः (vo) - your; ग्राहभूता (grāhabhūtā) - having become crocodiles; गृह्णन्तीः (gṛhṇantīḥ) - seizing; पुरुषान् (puruṣān) - men; जले (jale) - in water; उत्कर्षति (utkarṣati) - drags; जलात् (jalāt) - from water; कश्चित् (kaścit) - someone; स्थलम् (sthalam) - to land; पुरुषसत्तमः (puruṣasattamaḥ) - best among men;]
(When, and your crocodile-formed (ones) seizing men in water, someone drags from water to land, O best among men.)
O best among men, when your crocodile-formed ones seize men in the water, if someone drags (them) from the water to the land.
तदा यूयं पुनः सर्वाः स्वरूपं प्रतिपत्स्यथ । अनृतं नोक्तपूर्वं मे हसतापि कदाचन ॥१-२०९-१०॥
tadā yūyaṃ punaḥ sarvāḥ svarūpaṃ pratipatsyatha । anṛtaṃ noktapūrvaṃ me hasatāpi kadācana ॥1-209-10॥
[तदा (tadā) - then; यूयं (yūyam) - you (all); पुनः (punaḥ) - again; सर्वाः (sarvāḥ) - all (of you); स्वरूपं (svarūpam) - own form; प्रतिपत्स्यथ (pratipatsyatha) - will regain; अनृतं (anṛtam) - falsehood; न (na) - not; उक्तपूर्वं (ukta-pūrvam) - spoken before; मे (me) - by me; हसता (hasatā) - even in jest; अपि (api) - even; कदाचन (kadācana) - ever;]
(Then you all again will regain your own form. Falsehood has not ever been spoken by me, even in jest.)
Then all of you will regain your original forms again. I have never spoken a falsehood, not even in jest.
तानि सर्वाणि तीर्थानि इतः प्रभृति चैव ह । नारीतीर्थानि नाम्नेह ख्यातिं यास्यन्ति सर्वशः ॥१-२०९-११॥
tāni sarvāṇi tīrthāni itaḥ prabhṛti caiva ha । nārītīrthāni nāmneha khyātiṃ yāsyanti sarvaśaḥ ॥1-209-11॥
[तानि (tāni) - those (neuter plural); सर्वाणि (sarvāṇi) - all (neuter plural); तीर्थानि (tīrthāni) - holy places (neuter plural); इतः (itaḥ) - from here; प्रभृति (prabhṛti) - beginning; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; ह (ha) - surely; नारीतीर्थानि (nārītīrthāni) - women-holy places (neuter plural); नाम्ना (nāmnā) - by name; इह (iha) - here; ख्यातिम् (khyātim) - fame; यास्यन्ति (yāsyanti) - will attain; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - in every way;]
(Those all holy places from here beginning and indeed surely women-holy places by name here fame will attain in every way.)
From this point onward, all those holy places will be known as 'women-holy places' here, and they will attain fame in every way.
पुण्यानि च भविष्यन्ति पावनानि मनीषिणाम् ॥१-२०९-११॥
puṇyāni ca bhaviṣyanti pāvanāni manīṣiṇām ॥1-209-11॥
[पुण्यानि (puṇyāni) - meritorious deeds; च (ca) - and; भविष्यन्ति (bhaviṣyanti) - will become; पावनानि (pāvanāni) - purifying; मनीषिणाम् (manīṣiṇām) - of the wise;]
(Meritorious deeds and will become purifying of the wise.)
The meritorious deeds of the wise will become purifying.

ततोऽभिवाद्य तं विप्रं कृत्वा चैव प्रदक्षिणम् । अचिन्तयामोपसृत्य तस्माद्देशात्सुदुःखिताः ॥१-२०९-१२॥
tato'bhivādya taṃ vipraṃ kṛtvā caiva pradakṣiṇam । acintayāmopasṛtya tasmād deśāt suduḥkhitāḥ ॥1-209-12॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; अभिवाद्य (abhivādya) - having saluted; तं (tam) - him; विप्रं (vipram) - brāhmaṇa; कृत्वा (kṛtvā) - having done; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; प्रदक्षिणम् (pradakṣiṇam) - circumambulation; अचिन्तयाम (acintayām) - we thought; उपसृत्य (upasṛtya) - having approached; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - from that; देशात् (deśāt) - place; सुदुःखिताः (suduḥkhitāḥ) - very sorrowful;]
(Then, having saluted him, the brāhmaṇa, and indeed having circumambulated, we thought, having approached, from that place, very sorrowful.)
Then, after saluting the brāhmaṇa and circumambulating him, we approached and, being very sorrowful, departed from that place.
क्व नु नाम वयं सर्वाः कालेनाल्पेन तं नरम् । समागच्छेम यो नस्तद्रूपमापादयेत्पुनः ॥
kva nu nāma vayaṃ sarvāḥ kālenālpena taṃ naram । samāgacchema yo nas tadrūpam āpādayet punaḥ ॥
[क्व (kva) - where; नु (nu) - indeed; नाम (nāma) - by name; वयम् (vayam) - we; सर्वाः (sarvāḥ) - all; कालेन (kālena) - by time; अल्पेन (alpena) - by little; तम् (tam) - that; नरम् (naram) - man; समागच्छेम (samāgacchema) - might we meet; यः (yaḥ) - who; नः (naḥ) - for us; तत् (tat) - that; रूपम् (rūpam) - form; आपादयेत् (āpādayet) - might cause to obtain; पुनः (punaḥ) - again;]
(Where indeed by name are we all, by little time, that man might we meet, who for us that form might cause to obtain again.)
Where, indeed, are we all, that we might soon meet that man who could restore that form to us again?
ता वयं चिन्तयित्वैवं मुहूर्तादिव भारत । दृष्टवत्यो महाभागं देवर्षिमुत नारदम् ॥१-२०९-१४॥
tā vayaṃ cintayitvaivaṃ muhūrtādiva bhārata । dṛṣṭavatyō mahābhāgaṃ devarṣimuta nāradam ॥1-209-14॥
[ता (tā) - they (those women); वयम् (vayam) - we; चिन्तयित्वा (cintayitvā) - having thought; एवम् (evam) - thus; मुहूर्तात् (muhūrtāt) - after a moment; इव (iva) - as if; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata; दृष्टवत्यः (dṛṣṭavatyaḥ) - they saw; महाभागम् (mahābhāgam) - the highly fortunate; देवर्षिम् (devarṣim) - divine sage; उत (uta) - and; नारदम् (nāradam) - Nārada;]
(They, having thus thought, after a moment, O Bhārata, as if, saw the highly fortunate divine sage Nārada.)
O Bhārata, after pondering thus for a moment, they beheld the highly fortunate divine sage Nārada.
सर्वा हृष्टाः स्म तं दृष्ट्वा देवर्षिममितद्युतिम् । अभिवाद्य च तं पार्थ स्थिताः स्म व्यथिताननाः ॥१-२०९-१५॥
sarvā hṛṣṭāḥ sma taṃ dṛṣṭvā devarṣim amitadyutim | abhivādya ca taṃ pārtha sthitāḥ sma vyathitānanāḥ ॥1-209-15॥
[सर्वा (sarvā) - all (feminine); हृष्टाः (hṛṣṭāḥ) - gladdened; स्म (sma) - indeed; तं (taṃ) - him; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; देवर्षिम् (devarṣim) - the divine sage; अमितद्युतिम् (amitadyutim) - of immeasurable splendor; अभिवाद्य (abhivādya) - having saluted; च (ca) - and; तं (taṃ) - him; पार्थ (pārtha) - O son of Pṛthā (Arjuna); स्थिताः (sthitāḥ) - stood; स्म (sma) - indeed; व्यथिताननाः (vyathitānanāḥ) - with distressed faces;]
(All (the women) gladdened indeed, having seen him, the divine sage of immeasurable splendor, and having saluted him, O Pārtha, stood indeed with distressed faces.)
All the women, delighted, upon seeing the divine sage of immeasurable splendor, after saluting him, O Pārtha, stood there with distressed faces.
स नोऽपृच्छद्दुःखमूलमुक्तवत्यो वयं च तत् । श्रुत्वा तच्च यथावृत्तमिदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥१-२०९-१६॥
sa no'pṛcchad duḥkhamūlam uktavatyo vayaṃ ca tat । śrutvā tac ca yathāvṛttam idaṃ vacanam abravīt ॥1-209-16॥
[स (sa) - he; नः (naḥ) - us; अपृच्छत् (apṛcchat) - asked; दुःखमूलम् (duḥkhamūlam) - root of sorrow; उक्तवत्यः (uktavatyaḥ) - those who had spoken; वयम् (vayam) - we; च (ca) - and; तत् (tat) - that; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; तत् (tat) - that; च (ca) - and; यथावृत्तम् (yathāvṛttam) - as it happened; इदम् (idam) - this; वचनम् (vacanam) - speech; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - spoke;]
(He asked us, the ones who had spoken of the root of sorrow, and we, having heard that, spoke this speech as it happened.)
He asked us, who had spoken about the root of sorrow, and after hearing that, we narrated this matter as it had occurred.
दक्षिणे सागरानूपे पञ्च तीर्थानि सन्ति वै । पुण्यानि रमणीयानि तानि गच्छत माचिरम् ॥१-२०९-१७॥
dakṣiṇe sāgarānūpe pañca tīrthāni santi vai । puṇyāni ramaṇīyāni tāni gacchata māciram ॥1-209-17॥
[दक्षिणे (dakṣiṇe) - in the south; सागरानूपे (sāgarānūpe) - on the seashore; पञ्च (pañca) - five; तीर्थानि (tīrthāni) - sacred places; सन्ति (santi) - are; वै (vai) - indeed; पुण्यानि (puṇyāni) - meritorious; रमणीयानि (ramaṇīyāni) - beautiful; तानि (tāni) - those; गच्छत (gacchata) - go; माचिरम् (māciram) - without delay;]
(In the south, on the seashore, there are indeed five sacred places; those meritorious and beautiful (places), go (to them) without delay.)

तत्राशु पुरुषव्याघ्रः पाण्डवो वो धनञ्जयः । मोक्षयिष्यति शुद्धात्मा दुःखादस्मान्न संशयः ॥१-२०९-१८॥
tatrāśu puruṣavyāghraḥ pāṇḍavo vo dhanañjayaḥ । mokṣayiṣyati śuddhātmā duḥkhādasmānna saṃśayaḥ ॥1-209-18॥
[तत्र (tatra) - there; आशु (āśu) - quickly; पुरुषव्याघ्रः (puruṣavyāghraḥ) - tiger among men; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the son of Pāṇḍu; वः (vaḥ) - you (all); धनञ्जयः (dhanañjayaḥ) - Dhanañjaya (Arjuna); मोक्षयिष्यति (mokṣayiṣyati) - will release; शुद्धात्मा (śuddhātmā) - pure-souled; दुःखात् (duḥkhāt) - from sorrow; अस्मान् (asmān) - us; न (na) - not; संशयः (saṃśayaḥ) - doubt;]
(There quickly the tiger among men, the son of Pāṇḍu, Dhanañjaya, will release us pure-souled from sorrow; there is no doubt.)

तस्य सर्वा वयं वीर श्रुत्वा वाक्यमिहागताः । तदिदं सत्यमेवाद्य मोक्षिताहं त्वयानघ ॥१-२०९-१९॥
tasya sarvā vayaṃ vīra śrutvā vākyam ihāgatāḥ । tad idaṃ satyam eva adya mokṣitaḥ aham tvayā anagha ॥1-209-19॥
[तस्य (tasya) - of him; सर्वा (sarvā) - all; वयम् (vayam) - we; वीर (vīra) - hero; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; वाक्यम् (vākyam) - words; इह (iha) - here; आगताः (āgatāḥ) - have come; तत् (tat) - that; इदं (idaṃ) - this; सत्यं (satyaṃ) - truth; एव (eva) - indeed; अद्य (adya) - today; मोक्षितः (mokṣitaḥ) - liberated; अहम् (aham) - I; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; अनघ (anagha) - sinless one;]
(O hero, all of us, having heard his words, have come here. That this is indeed the truth—today I have been liberated by you, O sinless one.)
O hero, all of us came here after hearing his words. Truly, today I have been freed by you, O sinless one.
एतास्तु मम वै सख्यश्चतस्रोऽन्या जले स्थिताः । कुरु कर्म शुभं वीर एताः सर्वा विमोक्षय ॥१-२०९-२०॥
etāstu mama vai sakhyaścatasro'nyā jale sthitāḥ । kuru karma śubhaṃ vīra etāḥ sarvā vimokṣaya ॥1-209-20॥
[एताः (etāḥ) - these (feminine); तु (tu) - but; indeed; मम (mama) - my; वै (vai) - indeed; सख्यः (sakhyaḥ) - friends (feminine); चतस्रः (catasraḥ) - four (feminine); अन्या (anyā) - other (feminine); जले (jale) - in water; स्थिताः (sthitāḥ) - standing; situated; कुरु (kuru) - do; perform; कर्म (karma) - action; deed; शुभं (śubhaṃ) - auspicious; good; वीर (vīra) - hero; एताः (etāḥ) - these (feminine); सर्वा (sarvā) - all (feminine); विमोक्षय (vimokṣaya) - release; set free;]
(But these, indeed, my four friends, other (ones) are standing in the water. Do the auspicious deed, O hero, release all these.)
But these are my four friends, and the others are standing in the water. Perform the auspicious act, O hero, and release all of them.

ततस्ताः पाण्डवश्रेष्ठः सर्वा एव विशां पते । तस्माच्छापाददीनात्मा मोक्षयामास वीर्यवान् ॥१-२०९-२१॥
tatastāḥ pāṇḍavaśreṣṭhaḥ sarvā eva viśāṃ pate । tasmācchāpādadīnātmā mokṣayāmāsa vīryavān ॥1-209-21॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; ताः (tāḥ) - those; पाण्डवश्रेष्ठः (pāṇḍavaśreṣṭhaḥ) - the best among the Pāṇḍavas; सर्वाः (sarvāḥ) - all; एव (eva) - indeed; विशां (viśām) - of men; पते (pate) - O lord; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; शापात् (śāpāt) - from the curse; अदीनात्मा (adīnātmā) - not dispirited in spirit; मोक्षयामास (mokṣayāmāsa) - released; वीर्यवान् (vīryavān) - the powerful;]
(Then, O lord of men, the best among the Pāṇḍavas, indeed all those, therefore, not dispirited in spirit, the powerful one released from the curse.)
Then, O lord of men, the best among the Pāṇḍavas, full of strength, released all those from the curse, his spirit undaunted.
उत्थाय च जलात्तस्मात्प्रतिलभ्य वपुः स्वकम् । तास्तदाप्सरसो राजन्नदृश्यन्त यथा पुरा ॥१-२०९-२२॥
utthāya ca jalāttasmātpratilabhya vapuḥ svakam । tāstadāpsaraso rājannadṛśyanta yathā purā ॥1-209-22॥
[उत्थाय (utthāya) - having risen; (from) च (ca) - and; जलात् (jalāt) - from water; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - from that; प्रतिलभ्य (pratilabhya) - having regained; वपुः (vapuḥ) - form; स्वकम् (svakam) - their own; ताः (tāḥ) - they (feminine plural); तदा (tadā) - then; अप्सरसः (apsarasaḥ) - Apsarases; राजन् (rājan) - O king; अदृश्यन्त (adṛśyanta) - became invisible; यथा (yathā) - as; पुरा (purā) - formerly;]
(Having risen and from that water, having regained their own form, they, the Apsarases, O king, then became invisible as formerly.)
O king, the Apsarases, having risen from that water and regained their own forms, then became invisible just as they were before.
तीर्थानि शोधयित्वा तु तथानुज्ञाय ताः प्रभुः । चित्राङ्गदां पुनर्द्रष्टुं मणलूरपुरं ययौ ॥१-२०९-२३॥
tīrthāni śodhayitvā tu tathānujñāya tāḥ prabhuḥ । citrāṅgadāṃ punardraṣṭuṃ maṇalūrapuraṃ yayau ॥1-209-23॥

तस्यामजनयत्पुत्रं राजानं बभ्रुवाहनम् । तं दृष्ट्वा पाण्डवो राजन्गोकर्णमभितोऽगमत् ॥१-२०९-२४॥
tasyām ajanayat putraṃ rājānaṃ babhravāhanam । taṃ dṛṣṭvā pāṇḍavo rājan gokarṇam abhito 'gamat ॥1-209-24॥
[तस्याम् (tasyām) - in her; अजनयत् (ajanayat) - he begot; पुत्रम् (putram) - son; राजानम् (rājānam) - king; बभ्रुवाहनम् (babhravāhanam) - Babruvāhana; तं (taṃ) - him; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the Pāṇḍava; राजन् (rājan) - O king; गोकर्णम् (gokarṇam) - Gokarṇa; अभितः (abhitaḥ) - towards; अगमत् (agamat) - went;]
(In her he begot a son, the king Babruvāhana. Having seen him, the Pāṇḍava, O king, went towards Gokarṇa.)
He begot a son named Babruvāhana in her. Upon seeing him, O king, the Pāṇḍava went towards Gokarṇa.
