नारद उवाच॥
Nārada said.
शक्रस्य तु सभा दिव्या भास्वरा कर्मभिर्जिता। स्वयं शक्रेण कौरव्य निर्मितार्कसमप्रभा ॥२-७-१॥
But, O Kauravya, the assembly hall of Śakra (Indra) is divine and radiant, attained by his own deeds; it was constructed by Śakra himself and shines with a brilliance equal to the sun. (2-7-1)
विस्तीर्णा योजनशतं शतमध्यर्धमायता। वैहायसी कामगमा पञ्चयोजनमुच्छ्रिता ॥२-७-२॥
It is extensively spread, a hundred yojanas wide, and half a hundred yojanas long; it moves in the sky at will and is raised to a height of five yojanas. (2-7-2)
जराशोकक्लमापेता निरातङ्का शिवा शुभा। वेश्मासनवती रम्या दिव्यपादपशोभिता ॥२-७-३॥
Freed from old age, sorrow, and fatigue, without fear, auspicious and good, possessing beautiful mansions and seats, adorned with divine trees. (2-7-3)
तस्यां देवेश्वरः पार्थ सभायां परमासने। आस्ते शच्या महेन्द्राण्या श्रिया लक्ष्म्या च भारत ॥२-७-४॥
O Bhārata, in that assembly, the lord of the gods sits on the supreme seat together with Śacī (Mahendrāṇī), with splendor and Lakṣmī, O son of Pritha. (2-7-4)
बिभ्रद्वपुरनिर्देश्यं किरीटी लोहिताङ्गदः। विरजोम्बरश्चित्रमाल्यो ह्रीकीर्तिद्युतिभिः सह ॥२-७-५॥
He bore an indescribable form, adorned with a crown and red armlets, clad in a spotless garment and various garlands, shining with the brilliance of modesty and fame. (2-7-5)
तस्यामुपासते नित्यं महात्मानं शतक्रतुम्। मरुतः सर्वतो राजन्सर्वे च गृहमेधिनः ॥ सिद्धा देवर्षयश्चैव साध्या देवगणास्तथा ॥२-७-६॥
In her, the great-souled Indra is always worshipped; the Maruts from all sides, O king, and all householders; the Siddhas, divine sages, the Sādhyas, and likewise the hosts of gods. (2-7-6)
एते सानुचराः सर्वे दिव्यरूपाः स्वलङ्कृताः। उपासते महात्मानं देवराजमरिंदमम् ॥२-७-७॥
All these, along with their attendants, possessing divine forms and well adorned, worship the great-souled Indra, the king of the gods and destroyer of enemies. (2-7-7)
तथा देवर्षयः सर्वे पार्थ शक्रमुपासते। अमला धूतपाप्मानो दीप्यमाना इवाग्नयः ॥ तेजस्विनः सोमयुजो विपापा विगतक्लमाः ॥२-७-८॥
In this way, O Pārtha, all the divine sages worship Indra. They are pure, their sins cleansed, shining like fires, radiant, united with Soma, sinless, and free from fatigue. (2-7-8)
पराशरः पर्वतश्च तथा सावर्णिगालवौ। शङ्खश्च लिखितश्चैव तथा गौरशिरा मुनिः ॥२-७-९॥
Parāśara, Parvata, Sāvarṇi, Gālava, Śaṅkha, Likhita, and Gaurashirā were also sages. (2-7-9)
दुर्वासाश्च दीर्घतपा याज्ञवल्क्योऽथ भालुकिः। उद्दालकः श्वेतकेतुस्तथा शाट्यायनः प्रभुः ॥२-७-१०॥
Durvasa, Dirghatapa, Yajnavalkya, then Bhaluki, Uddalaka, Shvetaketu, and also Shatyayana the master. (2-7-10)
हविष्मांश्च गविष्ठश्च हरिश्चन्द्रश्च पार्थिवः। हृद्यश्चोदरशाण्डिल्यः पाराशर्यः कृषीवलः ॥२-७-११॥
Haviṣmān, Gaviṣṭha, Hariścandra the king, Hṛdya, Udaraśāṇḍilya, Parāśarya, and the farmer. (2-7-11)
वातस्कन्धो विशाखश्च विधाता काल एव च। अनन्तदन्तस्त्वष्टा च विश्वकर्मा च तुम्बुरुः ॥२-७-१२॥
Vātaskandha, Viśākha, the creator, Time, Anantadanta, Tvaṣṭā, Viśvakarmā, and Tumburu (2-7-12).
अयोनिजा योनिजाश्च वायुभक्षा हुताशिनः। ईशानं सर्वलोकस्य वज्रिणं समुपासते ॥२-७-१३॥
Those not born from the womb, those born from the womb, air-eaters, and fire-consumers all worship the Lord of all worlds, the wielder of the thunderbolt. (2-7-13)
सहदेवः सुनीथश्च वाल्मीकिश्च महातपाः। समीकः सत्यवांश्चैव प्रचेताः सत्यसङ्गरः ॥२-७-१४॥
Sahadeva, Sunitha, Vālmīki the great ascetic, Samīka, Satyavān, Prachetas, and Satyasaṅgara. (2-7-14)
मेधातिथिर्वामदेवः पुलस्त्यः पुलहः क्रतुः। मरुत्तश्च मरीचिश्च स्थाणुश्चात्रिर्महातपाः ॥२-७-१५॥
Medhātithi, Vāmadeva, Pulastya, Pulaha, Kratu, Marutta, Marīci, Sthāṇu (Śiva), and Atri, all of great austerity. (2-7-15)
कक्षीवान्गौतमस्तार्क्ष्यस्तथा वैश्वानरो मुनिः। मुनिः कालकवृक्षीय आश्राव्योऽथ हिरण्यदः ॥ संवर्तो देवहव्यश्च विष्वक्सेनश्च वीर्यवान् ॥२-७-१६॥
Kakṣīvān, Gautama, Tārkṣya, as well as the sage Vaiśvānara, the sage Kālakavṛkṣīya, Āśrāvya, then Hiraṇyada, Saṁvarta, Devahavya, Viṣvaksena, and the mighty one. (2-7-16)
दिव्या आपस्तथौषध्यः श्रद्धा मेधा सरस्वती। अर्थो धर्मश्च कामश्च विद्युतश्चापि पाण्डव ॥२-७-१७॥
O Pāṇḍava, divine waters, herbs, faith, intelligence, Sarasvatī, wealth, righteousness, desire, and even lightning are present.
जलवाहास्तथा मेघा वायवः स्तनयित्नवः। प्राची दिग्यज्ञवाहाश्च पावकाः सप्तविंशतिः ॥२-७-१८॥
There are twenty-seven fires: water-carriers, likewise clouds, winds, thunderers, the eastern direction, sacrificial-carriers, and fires. (2-7-18)
अग्नीषोमौ तथेन्द्राग्नी मित्रोऽथ सवितार्यमा। भगो विश्वे च साध्याश्च शुक्रो मन्थी च भारत ॥२-७-१९॥
O Bhārata, Agni and Soma, Indra and Agni, Mitra, Savitṛ, Aryaman, Bhaga, all the Sādhyas, Śukra, and Manthī (are present). (2-7-19)
यज्ञाश्च दक्षिणाश्चैव ग्रहाः स्तोभाश्च सर्वशः। यज्ञवाहाश्च ये मन्त्राः सर्वे तत्र समासते ॥२-७-२०॥
All sacrifices, gifts, offerings, and chants in every way, as well as all those who carry out the sacrifice and all the mantras, are all assembled there. (2-7-20)
तथैवाप्सरसो राजन्गन्धर्वाश्च मनोरमाः। नृत्यवादित्रगीतैश्च हास्यैश्च विविधैरपि ॥ रमयन्ति स्म नृपते देवराजं शतक्रतुम् ॥२-७-२१॥
In the same way, O king, the celestial nymphs and charming Gandharvas delighted Indra, the king of gods, with dances, music, songs, and various kinds of laughter. (2-7-21)
स्तुतिभिर्मङ्गलैश्चैव स्तुवन्तः कर्मभिस्तथा। विक्रमैश्च महात्मानं बलवृत्रनिषूदनम् ॥२-७-२२॥
They praised the great-souled destroyer of Bala and Vṛtra with praises, auspicious acts, actions, and valour. (2-7-22)
ब्रह्मराजर्षयः सर्वे सर्वे देवर्षयस्तथा। विमानैर्विविधैर्दिव्यैर्भ्राजमानैरिवाग्निभिः ॥२-७-२३॥
All the brahma-sages, royal-sages, and divine-sages, all together, arrived in various kinds of divine aerial chariots, shining like fires. (2-7-23)
स्रग्विणो भूषिताश्चान्ये यान्ति चायान्ति चापरे। बृहस्पतिश्च शुक्रश्च तस्यामाययतुः सह ॥२-७-२४॥
Those adorned with garlands and others come and go; Bṛhaspati and Śukra also arrived together in that assembly. (2-7-24)
एते चान्ये च बहवो यतात्मानो यतव्रताः। विमानैश्चन्द्रसङ्काशैः सोमवत्प्रियदर्शनाः ॥ ब्रह्मणो वचनाद्राजन्भृगुः सप्तर्षयस्तथा ॥२-७-२५॥
These, and many others who are self-controlled and disciplined in vows, riding in aerial cars shining like the moon, delightful to behold like Soma, by the command of Brahmā, O King, Bhṛgu and the seven sages also (2-7-25).
एषा सभा मया राजन्दृष्टा पुष्करमालिनी। शतक्रतोर्महाराज याम्यां शृणु ममानघ ॥२-७-२६॥
O king, I have seen this assembly adorned with lotuses. O great king, listen to my account of the southern assembly of Śatakratu (Indra), O sinless one. (2-7-26)

ॐ असतो मा सद्गमय। तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय। मृत्योर्माऽमृतं गमय। ॐ शान्ति: शान्ति: शान्ति: ॥ - बृहदारण्यकोपनिषद् 1.3.28
