[प्रययुः (prayayuḥ) - they went forth; प्रीतमनसः (prītamanasaḥ) - with delighted minds; यज्ञं (yajñaṃ) - to the sacrifice; ब्रह्मपुरःसराः (brahmapuraḥsarāḥ) - led by the Brāhmaṇas; संश्रुत्य (saṃśrutya) - having heard; धर्मराजस्य (dharmarājasya) - of Dharmarāja; यज्ञं (yajñaṃ) - the sacrifice; यज्ञविदः (yajñavidaḥ) - knowers of sacrifice; तदा (tadā) - then;]
(They went forth with delighted minds to the sacrifice, led by the Brāhmaṇas; having heard of Dharmarāja's sacrifice, the knowers of sacrifice then (went).)
With joyful hearts, led by the Brāhmaṇas, they proceeded to the sacrifice; upon hearing of Dharmarāja's sacrifice, the knowers of sacrifice then went there. (2-31-2)
अन्ये च शतशस्तुष्टैर्मनोभिर्मनुजर्षभ। द्रष्टुकामाः सभां चैव धर्मराजं च पाण्डवम् ॥२-३१-३॥
anye ca śataśas tuṣṭair manobhir manujarṣabha। draṣṭukāmāḥ sabhāṃ caiva dharmarājaṃ ca pāṇḍavam ॥2-31-3॥

(And others, by hundreds, with pleased minds, O bull among men, desiring to see the assembly and indeed Dharmarāja and the Pāṇḍava.)
O best of men, hundreds of others with delighted minds also came, wishing to see the assembly, as well as Dharmarāja and the Pāṇḍava. (2-31-3)
दिग्भ्यः सर्वे समापेतुः पार्थिवास्तत्र भारत। समुपादाय रत्नानि विविधानि महान्ति च ॥२-३१-४॥
digbhyaḥ sarve samāpetuḥ pārthivās tatra bhārata। samupādāya ratnāni vividhāni mahānti ca ॥2-31-4॥

O Bhārata, all the kings from every direction assembled there, bringing with them various and great gems. (2-31-4)
धृतराष्ट्रश्च भीष्मश्च विदुरश्च महामतिः। दुर्योधनपुरोगाश्च भ्रातरः सर्व एव ते ॥२-३१-५॥
dhṛtarāṣṭraś ca bhīṣmaś ca viduraś ca mahāmatiḥ। duryodhanapurogāś ca bhrātaraḥ sarva eva te ॥2-31-5॥

सत्कृत्यामन्त्रिताः सर्वे आचार्यप्रमुखा नृपाः। गान्धारराजः सुबलः शकुनिश्च महाबलः ॥२-३१-६॥

सोमदत्तोऽथ कौरव्यो भूरिर्भूरिश्रवाः शलः। अश्वत्थामा कृपो द्रोणः सैन्धवश्च जयद्रथः ॥२-३१-८॥

शिशुपालो महावीर्यः सह पुत्रेण भारत। आगच्छत्पाण्डवेयस्य यज्ञं सङ्ग्रामदुर्मदः ॥२-३१-१४॥
śiśupālo mahāvīryaḥ saha putreṇa bhārata। āgacchatpāṇḍaveyasya yajñaṃ saṅgrāmadurmadaḥ ॥2-31-14॥

(Shishupala, of great strength, together with (his) son, O Bhārata, came to the sacrifice of the son of Pandu, arrogant in battle.)
O Bhārata, Shishupala, who was of great strength and arrogant in battle, came with his son to the sacrifice of the son of Pandu. (2-31-14)
रामश्चैवानिरुद्धश्च बभ्रुश्च सहसारणः। गदप्रद्युम्नसाम्बाश्च चारुदेष्णश्च वीर्यवान् ॥२-३१-१५॥
rāmaścaivāniruddhaśca babhruśca sahasāraṇaḥ। gadapradyumnasāmbāśca cārudeṣṇaśca vīryavān ॥2-31-15॥

उल्मुको निशठश्चैव वीरः प्राद्युम्निरेव च। वृष्णयो निखिलेनान्ये समाजग्मुर्महारथाः ॥२-३१-१६॥
ulmuko niśaṭhaścaiva vīraḥ prādyumnireva ca। vṛṣṇayo nikhilenānye samājagmurmahārathāḥ ॥2-31-16॥

Ulmuka, Niśaṭha, the valiant Pradyumna, and all the Vṛṣṇis, along with other great chariot-warriors, assembled together. (2-31-16)
एते चान्ये च बहवो राजानो मध्यदेशजाः। आजग्मुः पाण्डुपुत्रस्य राजसूयं महाक्रतुम् ॥२-३१-१७॥
ete cānye ca bahavo rājāno madhyadeśajāḥ। ājagmuḥ pāṇḍuputrasya rājasūyaṃ mahākratum ॥2-31-17॥

(These and others and many kings born in the central region came to the Rājasūya, the great sacrifice of the son of Pāṇḍu.)

ददुस्तेषामावसथान्धर्मराजस्य शासनात्। बहुकक्ष्यान्वितान्राजन्दीर्घिकावृक्षशोभितान् ॥२-३१-१८॥
dadusteṣāmāvasathāndharmarājasya śāsanāt। bahukakṣyānvitānrājandīrghikāvṛkṣaśobhitān ॥2-31-18॥

(They gave them dwellings by the order of Dharmarāja, endowed with many compartments, O king, adorned with ponds and trees.)

तथा धर्मात्मजस्तेषां चक्रे पूजामनुत्तमाम्। सत्कृताश्च यथोद्दिष्टाञ्जग्मुरावसथान्नृपाः ॥२-३१-१९॥
tathā dharmātmajas teṣāṃ cakre pūjām anuttamām। satkṛtāś ca yathoddiṣṭāñ jagmur āvasathān nṛpāḥ ॥2-31-19॥

viśrāntās te tato'paśyan bhūmipā bhūri-dakṣiṇam। vṛtaṃ sadasyair bahubhir dharma-rājaṃ yudhiṣṭhiram ॥2-31-24॥

तत्सदः पार्थिवैः कीर्णं ब्राह्मणैश्च महात्मभिः। भ्राजते स्म तदा राजन्नाकपृष्ठमिवामरैः ॥२-३१-२५॥
tatsadaḥ pārthivaiḥ kīrṇaṃ brāhmaṇaiś ca mahātmabhiḥ। bhrājate sma tadā rājann ākapṛṣṭham ivāmaraiḥ ॥2-31-25॥
[तत् (tat) - that; सदः (sadaḥ) - assembly; पार्थिवैः (pārthivaiḥ) - by kings; कीर्णम् (kīrṇam) - filled; ब्राह्मणैः (brāhmaṇaiḥ) - by brāhmaṇas; च (ca) - and; महात्मभिः (mahātmabhiḥ) - by great-souled ones; भ्राजते (bhrājate) - shone; स्म (sma) - indeed; तदा (tadā) - then; राजन् (rājan) - O king; आकपृष्ठम् (ākapṛṣṭham) - like the back of the sky; इव (iva) - as if; अमरैः (amaraiḥ) - by immortals;]
(That assembly, filled by kings and by brāhmaṇas and by great-souled ones, shone indeed then, O king, as if (it were) the back of the sky by immortals.)
O king, that assembly, filled with kings and great-souled brāhmaṇas, shone at that time like the sky's back illuminated by the immortals. (2-31-25)
