पितामहं गुरुं चैव प्रत्युद्गम्य युधिष्ठिरः। अभिवाद्य ततो राजन्निदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥ भीष्मं द्रोणं कृपं द्रौणिं दुर्योधनविविंशती ॥२-३२-१॥
pitāmahaṃ guruṃ caiva pratyudgamya yudhiṣṭhiraḥ। abhivādya tato rājannidaṃ vacanamabravīt ॥ bhīṣmaṃ droṇaṃ kṛpaṃ drauṇiṃ duryodhanaviviṃśatī ॥2-32-1॥

(In this sacrifice, may you all favor me in every way. This, your own, and whatever wealth of mine is here, I indeed (offer). May you all please me as desired, unrestrained.)

एवमुक्त्वा स तान्सर्वान्दीक्षितः पाण्डवाग्रजः। युयोज ह यथायोगमधिकारेष्वनन्तरम् ॥२-३२-३॥
evam-uktvā sa tān sarvān dīkṣitaḥ pāṇḍavāgrajaḥ। yuyoja ha yathā-yogam adhikāreṣu anantaram ॥2-32-3॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्त्वा (uktvā) - having spoken; सः (saḥ) - he; तान् (tān) - those; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; दीक्षितः (dīkṣitaḥ) - initiated; पाण्डव-अग्रजः (pāṇḍava-agrajaḥ) - the eldest of the Pāṇḍavas; युयोज (yuyoja) - he engaged; ह (ha) - indeed; यथा-योगम् (yathā-yogam) - according to fitness; अधिकारेषु (adhikāreṣu) - in the offices; अनन्तरम् (anantaram) - immediately after;]
(Thus having spoken, he, the eldest of the Pāṇḍavas, initiated, engaged all of them according to fitness in the offices immediately after, indeed.)
Having thus spoken, the initiated eldest of the Pāṇḍavas engaged all of them in their respective offices immediately thereafter. (2-32-3)
भक्ष्यभोज्याधिकारेषु दुःशासनमयोजयत्। परिग्रहे ब्राह्मणानामश्वत्थामानमुक्तवान् ॥२-३२-४॥
bhakṣyabhojyādhikāreṣu duḥśāsanam ayojayat। parigrahe brāhmaṇānām aśvatthāmānam uktavān ॥2-32-4॥
[भक्ष्य (bhakṣya) - to be eaten; भोज्य (bhojya) - to be enjoyed; अधिकारेषु (adhikāreṣu) - in the authorities; दुःशासनम् (duḥśāsanam) - Duḥśāsana (proper name); अयोजयत् (ayojayat) - appointed; परिग्रहे (parigrahe) - in the possession; ब्राह्मणानाम् (brāhmaṇānām) - of the Brāhmaṇas; अश्वत्थामानम् (aśvatthāmānam) - Aśvatthāman (proper name); उक्तवान् (uktavān) - declared;]
(In the authorities over food and enjoyment, he appointed Duḥśāsana. In the possession of the Brāhmaṇas, he declared Aśvatthāman. (2-32-4))

(But for the purpose of honoring the kings, the great-minded one engaged Sañjaya; in knowing the done and not done, Bhīṣma and Droṇa.)

हिरण्यस्य सुवर्णस्य रत्नानां चान्ववेक्षणे। दक्षिणानां च वै दाने कृपं राजा न्ययोजयत् ॥ तथान्यान्पुरुषव्याघ्रांस्तस्मिंस्तस्मिन्न्ययोजयत् ॥२-३२-६॥

(Of gold, of pure gold, of jewels and in the supervision; of gifts and indeed in giving, Kṛpa the king appointed. Likewise, others, tiger-men, in that, in that, he appointed. (2-32-6))

क्षत्ता व्ययकरस्त्वासीद्विदुरः सर्वधर्मवित्। दुर्योधनस्त्वर्हणानि प्रतिजग्राह सर्वशः ॥२-३२-८॥
kṣattā vyayakaras tv āsīd viduraḥ sarvadharmavit। duryodhanas tvarhaṇāni pratijagrāha sarvaśaḥ ॥2-32-8॥
[क्षत्ता (kṣattā) - charioteer; (title for Vidura); व्ययकरः (vyayakaraḥ) - one who accounts for expenditure; त्वा (tvā) - indeed; आसीत् (āsīt) - was; विदुरः (viduraḥ) - Vidura; सर्वधर्मवित् (sarvadharmavit) - knower of all dharmas; दुर्योधनः (duryodhanaḥ) - Duryodhana; त्व (tva) - indeed; अर्हणानि (arhaṇāni) - honors; respects; प्रतिजग्राह (pratijagrāha) - accepted; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - in every way;]
(The charioteer, the accountant of expenditure, was Vidura, knower of all dharmas. Duryodhana indeed accepted the honors in every way.)

सर्वलोकः समावृत्तः पिप्रीषुः फलमुत्तमम्। द्रष्टुकामः सभां चैव धर्मराजं च पाण्डवम् ॥२-३२-९॥
sarvalokaḥ samāvṛttaḥ piprīṣuḥ phalamuttamam। draṣṭukāmaḥ sabhāṃ caiva dharmarājaṃ ca pāṇḍavam ॥2-32-9॥
[सर्वलोकः (sarvalokaḥ) - all worlds; समावृत्तः (samāvṛttaḥ) - assembled; पिप्रीषुः (piprīṣuḥ) - desiring to enjoy; फलम् (phalam) - fruit; उत्तमम् (uttamam) - supreme; द्रष्टुकामः (draṣṭukāmaḥ) - desiring to see; सभाम् (sabhām) - assembly; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; धर्मराजम् (dharmarājam) - Dharmarāja; च (ca) - and; पाण्डवम् (pāṇḍavam) - the Pāṇḍava;]
(All worlds assembled, desiring to enjoy the supreme fruit, desiring to see the assembly and indeed Dharmarāja and the Pāṇḍava.)
All people gathered together, wishing to enjoy the highest reward, eager to see the assembly as well as Dharmarāja and the Pāṇḍava. (2-32-9)
न कश्चिदाहरत्तत्र सहस्रावरमर्हणम्। रत्नैश्च बहुभिस्तत्र धर्मराजमवर्धयन् ॥२-३२-१०॥
na kaścid āharat tatra sahasrāvaram arhaṇam। ratnaiś ca bahubhis tatra dharmarājam avardhayan ॥2-32-10॥
[न (na) - not; कश्चित् (kaścit) - anyone; आहरत् (āharat) - brought; तत्र (tatra) - there; सहस्रावरम् (sahasrāvaram) - thousand-fold worthy; अर्हणम् (arhaṇam) - honor; रत्नैः (ratnaiḥ) - with jewels; च (ca) - and; बहुभिः (bahubhiḥ) - with many; तत्र (tatra) - there; धर्मराजम् (dharmarājam) - Dharmarāja; अवर्धयन् (avardhayan) - they honored;]
(Not anyone brought there a thousand-fold worthy honor. And with many jewels there, they honored Dharmarāja.)

कथं नु मम कौरव्यो रत्नदानैः समाप्नुयात्। यज्ञमित्येव राजानः स्पर्धमाना ददुर्धनम् ॥२-३२-११॥
kathaṁ nu mama kauravyo ratnadānaiḥ samāpnuyāt। yajñamityeva rājānaḥ spardhamānā dadurdhanam ॥2-32-11॥
[कथं (kathaṁ) - how; नु (nu) - indeed; मम (mama) - my; कौरव्यः (kauravyaḥ) - the Kaurava; रत्नदानैः (ratnadānaiḥ) - by gifts of jewels; समाप्नुयात् (samāpnuyāt) - might attain; यज्ञम् (yajñam) - sacrifice; इति (iti) - thus; एव (eva) - only; राजानः (rājānaḥ) - kings; स्पर्धमाना (spardhamānā) - competing; ददुः (daduḥ) - gave; धनम् (dhanam) - wealth;]
(How indeed might my Kaurava attain (success) by gifts of jewels? Thinking "sacrifice only," the kings, competing, gave wealth.)

भवनैः सविमानाग्रैः सोदर्कैर्बलसंवृतैः। लोकराजविमानैश्च ब्राह्मणावसथैः सह ॥२-३२-१२॥

(By mansions with foremost aerial cars, with spacious ones, enclosed by strength, with aerial cars of the lord of worlds, and together with the dwellings of Brāhmaṇas.)

कृतैरावसथैर्दिव्यैर्विमानप्रतिमैस्तथा। विचित्रै रत्नवद्भिश्च ऋद्ध्या परमया युतैः ॥२-३२-१३॥
kṛtair āvasathair divyaiḥ vimāna-pratimaiḥ tathā। vicitrai ratnavadbhis ca ṛddhyā paramayā yutaiḥ ॥2-32-13॥

राजभिश्च समावृत्तैरतीवश्रीसमृद्धिभिः। अशोभत सदो राजन्कौन्तेयस्य महात्मनः ॥२-३२-१४॥
rājabhiś ca samāvṛttair atīva-śrī-samṛddhibhiḥ। aśobhata sado rājan kaunteyasya mahātmanaḥ ॥2-32-14॥

O king, the assembly hall of the great-souled son of Kunti was resplendent, filled with assembled kings and abundant splendor and prosperity. (2-32-14)
ऋद्ध्या च वरुणं देवं स्पर्धमानो युधिष्ठिरः। षडग्निनाथ यज्ञेन सोऽयजद्दक्षिणावता ॥ सर्वाञ्जनान्सर्वकामैः समृद्धैः समतर्पयत् ॥२-३२-१५॥
ṛddhyā ca varuṇaṃ devaṃ spardhamāno yudhiṣṭhiraḥ। ṣaḍagninātha yajñena so'ayajaddakṣiṇāvatā ॥ sarvāñjanānsarvakāmaiḥ samṛddhaiḥ samatarpayat ॥2-32-15॥

(With prosperity and vying with the god Varuṇa, Yudhiṣṭhira, with six fire-lords, by sacrifice, he sacrificed with gifts. All people, with all desires fulfilled, he completely satisfied. (2-32-15))
Yudhiṣṭhira, endowed with prosperity and competing with the god Varuṇa, performed sacrifices with six fire-lords and generous gifts. He completely satisfied all people by fulfilling all their desires. (2-32-15)
अन्नवान्बहुभक्ष्यश्च भुक्तवज्जनसंवृतः। रत्नोपहारकर्मण्यो बभूव स समागमः ॥२-३२-१६॥
annavān bahubhakṣyaś ca bhuktavaj janasaṃvṛtaḥ। ratnopahārakarmaṇyo babhūva sa samāgamaḥ ॥2-32-16॥
[अन्नवान् (annavān) - possessed of food; बहु (bahu) - much; भक्ष्यः (bhakṣyaḥ) - edible; च (ca) - and; भुक्तवत् (bhuktavat) - as if eaten; जन (jana) - people; संवृतः (saṃvṛtaḥ) - surrounded; रत्न (ratna) - gems; उपहार (upahāra) - offerings; कर्मण्यः (karmaṇyaḥ) - active in deeds; बभूव (babhūva) - became; स (sa) - that; समागमः (samāgamaḥ) - assembly;]
(Possessed of food, much edible and, as if eaten, surrounded by people; active in deeds of offering gems, that assembly became. (2-32-16))
That assembly, abundant with food and many edibles, surrounded by people as if they had feasted, and active in the offering of gems, came together. (2-32-16)
इडाज्यहोमाहुतिभिर्मन्त्रशिक्षासमन्वितैः। तस्मिन्हि ततृपुर्देवास्तते यज्ञे महर्षिभिः ॥२-३२-१७॥
iḍājyahomāhutibhir mantraśikṣāsamanvitaiḥ। tasmin hi tatṛpur devās tate yajñe maharṣibhiḥ ॥2-32-17॥

(By food-offerings, clarified butter, oblations, and offerings, endowed with mantra instruction, in that (sacrifice), indeed, the gods became satisfied by those great sages in the sacrifice.)

(Just as the gods, so the Brāhmaṇas (were satisfied) by gifts, food, and great wealth; all classes also were satisfied in that sacrifice, endowed with joy.)
