विदर्भराजो धर्मात्मा भीमो भीमपराक्रमः। सुतेयं तस्य कल्याणी दमयन्तीति विश्रुता ॥०३-६६-१॥
vidarbharājo dharmātmā bhīmo bhīmaparākramaḥ। sute'yaṁ tasya kalyāṇī damayantīti viśrutā॥03-66-1॥
[विदर्भराजः (vidarbharājaḥ) - the king of Vidarbha; धर्मात्मा (dharmātmā) - righteous-souled; भीमः (bhīmaḥ) - Bhīma (name); भीमपराक्रमः (bhīmaparākramaḥ) - of great prowess; सुता (sutā) - daughter; इयम् (iyam) - this; तस्य (tasya) - his; कल्याणी (kalyāṇī) - auspicious; दमयन्ती (damayantī) - Damayantī; इति (iti) - thus; विश्रुता (viśrutā) - well-known;]
(The Vidarbha king, righteous-souled, Bhīma, of great prowess. This his daughter, auspicious, Damayantī thus well-known.)
The king of Vidarbha, the righteous Bhīma of great prowess, had a daughter, the auspicious Damayantī, who was well-known. (03-66-1)
राजा तु नैषधो नाम वीरसेनसुतो नलः। भार्येयं तस्य कल्याणी पुण्यश्लोकस्य धीमतः ॥०३-६६-२॥
rājā tu naiṣadho nāma vīrasenasuto nalaḥ। bhāryeyaṃ tasya kalyāṇī puṇyaślokasya dhīmataḥ॥03-66-2॥
[राजा (rājā) - king; तु (tu) - but; नैषधः (naiṣadhaḥ) - of Niṣadha (prince/king); नाम (nāma) - by name; वीरसेनसुतः (vīrasenasutaḥ) - Vīrasena's son; नलः (nalaḥ) - Nala; भार्या (bhāryā) - wife; इयम् (iyam) - this; तस्य (tasya) - his; कल्याणी (kalyāṇī) - auspicious; पुण्यश्लोकस्य (puṇyaślokasya) - of one famed for virtue; धीमतः (dhīmataḥ) - wise;]
(King but Niṣadha by name, Vīrasena's son, Nala. Wife this his, auspicious, of the renowned for virtue, wise one.)
But the king named Niṣadha, Nala, who is Vīrasena's son, has this auspicious wife, the wise and virtuous one. (03-66-2)
स वै द्यूते जितो भ्रात्रा हृतराज्यो महीपतिः। दमयन्त्या गतः सार्धं न प्रज्ञायत कर्हिचित् ॥०३-६६-३॥
sa vai dyūte jito bhrātrā hṛtarājyō mahīpatiḥ। damayantyā gataḥ sārdham na prajñāyata karhicit ॥03-66-3॥
[स (sa) - he; वै (vai) - indeed; द्यूते (dyūte) - in the dice-game; जितो (jitaḥ) - defeated; भ्रात्रा (bhrātrā) - by the brother; हृतराज्यो (hṛtarājyaḥ) - whose kingdom was taken; महीपतिः (mahīpatiḥ) - the king; दमयन्त्या (damayantyā) - with Damayantī; गतः (gataḥ) - having gone; सार्धं (sārdham) - together; न (na) - not; प्रज्ञायत (prajñāyata) - was known; कर्हिचित् (karhicit) - at any time;]
(He indeed, defeated in the dice-game by the brother, whose kingdom was taken, the king, having gone with Damayantī, together, was not known at any time.)
That king, whose kingdom was taken and who was defeated in the dice-game by his brother, having gone together with Damayantī, was never known (where he was). (03-66-3)
ते वयं दमयन्त्यर्थे चरामः पृथिवीमिमाम्। सेयमासादिता बाला तव पुत्रनिवेशने ॥०३-६६-४॥
te vayaṃ damayanty-arthe carāmaḥ pṛthivīm-imām। sey-am-āsāditā bālā tava putra-niveśane॥03-66-4॥
[ते (te) - they; वयम् (vayam) - we; दमयन्त्यर्थे (damayanty-arthē) - for Damayantī's sake; चरामः (carāmaḥ) - we roam; पृथिवीम् (pṛthivīm) - earth; इमाम् (imām) - this; सा (sā) - she; इयम् (iyam) - this; आसादिता (āsāditā) - has been found; बाला (bālā) - girl; तव (tava) - your; पुत्रनिवेशने (putra-niveśane) - in the residence of (your) son;]
(They, we for Damayantī's sake roam this earth. She, this girl, has been found in the residence of your son.)
We are those who have been wandering this earth for Damayantī. This girl has been found in the house of your son. (03-66-4)
अस्या रूपेण सदृशी मानुषी नेह विद्यते। अस्याश्चैव भ्रुवोर्मध्ये सहजः पिप्लुरुत्तमः ॥ श्यामायाः पद्मसङ्काशो लक्षितोऽन्तर्हितो मया ॥०३-६६-५॥
asyā rūpeṇa sadṛśī mānuṣī neha vidyate। asyāścaiva bhruvormadhye sahajaḥ pipluruttamaḥ ॥ śyāmāyāḥ padmasaṅkāśo lakṣito'ntarhito mayā ॥03-66-5॥
[अस्या (asyā) - of her; रूपेण (rūpeṇa) - by form; सदृशी (sadṛśī) - similar; मानुषी (mānuṣī) - a human woman; न (na) - not; इह (iha) - here; विज्यते (vidyate) - exists; अस्याश्च (asyāśca) - and of her; एव (eva) - indeed; भ्रुवोः (bhruvoḥ) - of the eyebrows; मध्ये (madhye) - in the middle; सहजः (sahajaḥ) - natural; पिप्लुः (pipluḥ) - a mole; उत्तमः (uttamaḥ) - excellent; श्यामायाः (śyāmāyāḥ) - of the dark(-complexioned one); पद्म (padma) - lotus; सङ्काशः (saṅkāśaḥ) - resembling; लक्षितः (lakṣitaḥ) - observed; अन्तर्हितः (antarhitaḥ) - concealed; मया (mayā) - by me;]
(Of her by form similar a human woman not here exists. And indeed of her of the eyebrows in the middle natural mole excellent. Of the dark(-complexioned one) lotus resembling observed concealed by me.)
There is no human woman here comparable to her in form. And between her eyebrows, there is naturally an excellent mole. On the dark-complexioned one a lotus-like mark, I have observed, hidden, by me. (03-66-5)
मलेन संवृतो ह्यस्यास्तन्वभ्रेणेव चन्द्रमाः। चिह्नभूतो विभूत्यर्थमयं धात्रा विनिर्मितः ॥०३-६६-६॥
malena saṁvṛto hy asyās tanvābhreṇeva candramāḥ। cihnabhūto vibhūtyartham ayaṁ dhātrā vinirmitaḥ॥03-66-6॥
[मलेन (malena) - by dirt; संवृतः (saṁvṛtaḥ) - covered; हि (hi) - indeed; अस्याः (asyāḥ) - of her; तन्वा (tanvā) - by the body; अभ्रेण (abhreṇa) - by a cloud; इव (iva) - like; चन्द्रमाः (candramāḥ) - the Moon; चिह्नभूतः (cihnabhūtaḥ) - become a mark; विभूत्यर्थम् (vibhūtyartham) - for the sake of distinction; अयम् (ayam) - this; धात्रा (dhātrā) - by the Creator; विनिर्मितः (vinirmitaḥ) - well-formed;]
(By dirt covered indeed of her by the body, like by a cloud the Moon; become a mark for the sake of distinction, this by the Creator well-formed.)
Just as the Moon is covered by a slender cloud, her body is covered with dirt; this mark has been created by the Creator for the sake of distinction. (03-66-6)
प्रतिपत्कलुषेवेन्दोर्लेखा नाति विराजते। न चास्या नश्यते रूपं वपुर्मलसमाचितम् ॥ असंस्कृतमपि व्यक्तं भाति काञ्चनसंनिभम् ॥०३-६६-७॥
pratipatkaluṣe vendor lekhā nāti virājate। na cāsyā naśyate rūpaṁ vapur malasamācitam ॥ asaṁskṛtam api vyaktaṁ bhāti kāñcana-saṁnibham ॥03-66-7॥
[प्रतिपत्कलुषे (pratipat-kaluṣe) - on the new-moon-impurity; इन्दोः (indoḥ) - of the moon; लेखा (lekhā) - crescent; न (na) - not; अति (ati) - very; विराजते (virājate) - shines; न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; अस्या (asyāḥ) - of it; नश्यते (naśyate) - disappears; रूपं (rūpaṁ) - form; वपु: (vapuḥ) - body; मलसमाचितम् (mala-samācitam) - covered with impurity; असंस्कृतम् (asaṁskṛtam) - uncleansed; अपि (api) - even; व्यक्तं (vyaktam) - manifest; भाति (bhāti) - shines; काञ्चनसंनिभम् (kāñcana-saṁnibham) - golden-like;]
(On the new-moon-impurity of the moon, the crescent not very shines; and not of it disappears the form, the body covered with impurity. Uncleansed even manifest shines, golden-like.)
When the moon is tainted by the impurity of the new moon, its crescent does not shine greatly; yet its form does not disappear, its body is still covered with impurity. Even uncleansed, it still appears manifest, shining like gold. (03-66-7)
अनेन वपुषा बाला पिप्लुनानेन चैव ह। लक्षितेयं मया देवी पिहितोऽग्निरिवोष्मणा ॥०३-६६-८॥
anena vapuṣā bālā piplunānena caiva ha। lakṣiteyaṃ mayā devī pihito'gnirivoṣmaṇā ॥03-66-8॥
[अनेन (anena) - by this; वपुषा (vapuṣā) - by form; बाला (bālā) - young woman; पिप्लुनानेन (piplunānena) - by this fatness; चैव (caiva) - and also; ह (ha) - indeed; लक्षिते (lakṣite) - having been noticed; अयं (ayaṃ) - this; मया (mayā) - by me; देवी (devī) - O Lady; पिहितः (pihitaḥ) - covered; अग्निः (agniḥ) - fire; इव (iva) - like; उष्मणा (uṣmaṇā) - by heat;]
(By this form, O young woman, and indeed by this fatness also, this has been noticed by me, O Lady, like fire covered by heat.)
O Lady, by this form and also by this fatness, I have noticed, indeed, that you are like fire covered by its own heat. (03-66-8)
बृहदश्व उवाच॥

तच्छ्रुत्वा वचनं तस्य सुदेवस्य विशां पते। सुनन्दा शोधयामास पिप्लुप्रच्छादनं मलम् ॥०३-६६-९॥
tac chrutvā vacanaṃ tasya sudevasya viśāṃ pate| sunandā śodhayāmāsa piplupracchādanaṃ malam ॥03-66-9॥
[तत् (tat) - that; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; वचनं (vacanam) - speech; तस्य (tasya) - his; सुदेवस्य (sudevasya) - of Sudeva; विशां (viśām) - of the people; पते (pate) - O lord; सुनन्दा (sunandā) - Sunanda; शोधयामास (śodhayāmāsa) - cleansed; पिप्लुप्रच्छादनं (piplupracchādanam) - covering of pippala-leaves; मलम् (malam) - impurity;]
(That having heard the speech of his, of Sudeva, O lord of the people, Sunanda cleansed the impurity (from) the covering of pippala-leaves.)
O lord of the people, having heard the words of Sudeva, Sunanda cleansed the filth from the covering made of pippala leaves. (03-66-9)
स मलेनापकृष्टेन पिप्लुस्तस्या व्यरोचत। दमयन्त्यास्तदा व्यभ्रे नभसीव निशाकरः ॥०३-६६-१०॥
sa malenāpakṛṣṭena piplustasyā viyārocat. damayantyāstadā vyabhre nabhasīva niśākaraḥ ॥03-66-10॥
[स (sa) - he; मलेनापकृष्टेन (malenāpakṛṣṭena) - by dirt removed; (i.e., cleansed of impurity); पिप्लुः (pipluḥ) - body; तस्या (tasyāḥ) - her; व्यरोचत (vyarocata) - shone; दमयन्त्याः (damayantyāḥ) - of Damayantī; तदा (tadā) - then; व्यभ्रे (vyabhre) - cloudless; नभसि (nabhasi) - in the sky; इव (iva) - like; निशाकरः (niśākaraḥ) - the moon;]
(He, with his body cleansed of dirt, shone to her; of Damayantī, then, in the cloudless sky, like the moon.)
His body, cleansed of dirt, appeared to Damayantī just like the moon in a cloudless sky. (03-66-10)
पिप्लुं दृष्ट्वा सुनन्दा च राजमाता च भारत। रुदन्त्यौ तां परिष्वज्य मुहूर्तमिव तस्थतुः ॥ उत्सृज्य बाष्पं शनकै राजमातेदमब्रवीत् ॥०३-६६-११॥
pipluṁ dṛṣṭvā sunandā ca rājamātā ca bhārata। rudantyau tāṁ pariṣvajya muhūrtamiva tasthatuḥ॥ utsṛjya bāṣpaṁ śanakai rājamātā idam abravīt॥03-66-11॥
[पिप्लुं (pipluṁ) - Piplū (name of person); दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; सुनन्दा (sunandā) - Sunandā (name of person); च (ca) - and; राजमाता (rājamātā) - queen mother; च (ca) - and; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata; रुदन्त्यौ (rudantyau) - both weeping; तां (tāṁ) - her; परिष्वज्य (pariṣvajya) - embracing; मुहूर्तमिव (muhūrtamiva) - for a moment as if; तस्थतुः (tasthatuḥ) - they stood; उत्सृज्य (utsṛjya) - having released; बाष्पं (bāṣpaṁ) - tears; शनकै (śanakai) - slowly; राजमाता (rājamātā) - queen mother; इदम् (idam) - this; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said;]
(Having seen Piplū, Sunandā and the queen mother, O Bhārata, both weeping, embracing her, for a moment as if, stood. Having released tears, slowly the queen mother this said.)
O Bhārata, seeing Piplū, Sunandā and the queen mother embraced her, and, weeping, stood for a moment. Then, having shed her tears, the queen mother slowly spoke these words. (03-66-11)
भगिन्या दुहिता मेऽसि पिप्लुनानेन सूचिता। अहं च तव माता च राजन्यस्य महात्मनः ॥ सुते दशार्णाधिपतेः सुदाम्नश्चारुदर्शने ॥०३-६६-१२॥
bhaginyā duhitā me'si piplunānena sūcitā। ahaṃ ca tava mātā ca rājanyasya mahātmanaḥ॥ sute daśārṇādhipateḥ sudāmnaścārudarśane॥03-66-12॥
[भगिन्या (bhaginyā) - by (your) sister; दुहिता (duhitā) - daughter; मेऽसि (me'si) - you are of me; पिप्लुनानेन (piplunānena) - by Pipluna; सूचिता (sūcitā) - has been informed; अहं (ahaṃ) - I; च (ca) - and; तव (tava) - your; माता (mātā) - mother; च (ca) - and; राजन्यस्य (rājanyasya) - of the kṣatriya; महात्मनः (mahātmanaḥ) - great-hearted; सुते (sute) - in the son; दशार्णाधिपतेः (daśārṇādhipateḥ) - of the ruler of Daśārṇa; सुदाम्नः (sudāmnaḥ) - Sudāmā's; च (ca) - and; अरुदर्शने (ārudarśane) - O beautiful one;]
(By (your) sister, you are my daughter, as has been informed by Pipluna. I and your mother also (are) of the great-hearted kṣatriya. In the son of the ruler of Daśārṇa, Sudāmā, O beautiful one.)
You are my daughter by (my) sister, as Pipluna has informed. Both I and your mother belong to the great-hearted kṣatriya line. O beautiful one, in the son of Sudāmā, the ruler of Daśārṇa. (03-66-12)
भीमस्य राज्ञः सा दत्ता वीरबाहोरहं पुनः। त्वं तु जाता मया दृष्टा दशार्णेषु पितुर्गृहे ॥०३-६६-१३॥
bhīmasya rājñaḥ sā dattā vīrabāhoḥ ahaṁ punaḥ। tvaṁ tu jātā mayā dṛṣṭā daśārṇeṣu pitur-gṛhe॥03-66-13॥
[भीमस्य (bhīmasya) - of Bhīma; of king Bhīma; राज्ञः (rājñaḥ) - of the king; सा (sā) - she; दत्ता (dattā) - was given; given; वीरबाहोः (vīrabāhoḥ) - to Vīrabāhu; अहं (ahaṁ) - I; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; त्वं (tvaṁ) - you; तु (tu) - but; जाता (jātā) - born; मया (mayā) - by me; दृष्टा (dṛṣṭā) - seen; दशार्णेषु (daśārṇeṣu) - in Daśārṇa; पितुः (pituḥ) - of (your) father; गृह े (gṛhe) - in (the) house;]
(She was given by King Bhīma to Vīrabāhu. I, again, you but born, by me seen in Daśārṇa in (your) father's house.)
She was given by King Bhīma to Vīrabāhu. But as for you, I saw you again, born in your father's house in Daśārṇa. (03-66-13)
यथैव ते पितुर्गेहं तथेदमपि भामिनि। यथैव हि ममैश्वर्यं दमयन्ति तथा तव ॥०३-६६-१४॥
yathaiva te piturgehaṃ tathedamapi bhāmini। yathaiva hi mama aiśvaryaṃ damayanti tathā tava ॥03-66-14॥
[यथैव (yathaiva) - just as; ते (te) - your; पितुः (pituḥ) - of father; गेहम् (geham) - house; तथ (tatha) - so; इदम् (idam) - this; अपि (api) - also; भामिनि (bhāmini) - O beautiful one; यथैव (yathaiva) - just as; हि (hi) - indeed; मम (mama) - my; ऐश्वर्यम् (aiśvaryam) - wealth; दमयन्ति (damayanti) - Damayanti; तथा (tathā) - so; तव (tava) - your;]
(Just as your father's house, so also this, O beautiful one. Just as indeed my wealth Damayanti (is), so (is) your (wealth).)
O beautiful one, just as your father's house is yours, so also is this (house). Just as Damayanti shares in my wealth, so too (is) your share.
तां प्रहृष्टेन मनसा दमयन्ती विशां पते। अभिवाद्य मातुर्भगिनीमिदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥०३-६६-१५॥
tāṃ prahṛṣṭena manasā damayantī viśāṃ pate। abhivādya mātur-bhaginīm idaṃ vacanam abravīt ॥03-66-15॥
[तां (tāṃ) - her; प्रहृष्टेन (prahṛṣṭena) - with gladdened; मनसा (manasā) - mind; दमयन्ती (damayantī) - Damayantī; विशां (viśām) - of the people; पते (pate) - O lord; अभिवाद्य (abhivādya) - having saluted; मातु (mātuḥ) - (her) mother's; भगिनीम् (bhaginīm) - sister; इदं (idaṃ) - this; वचनम् (vacanam) - speech; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - she spoke;]
(Her, with gladdened mind, Damayantī, O lord of the people, having saluted (her) mother's sister, this speech she spoke.)
O lord of the people, Damayantī, with a joyful mind, having saluted her mother's sister, spoke these words. (03-66-15)
अज्ञायमानापि सती सुखमस्म्युषितेह वै। सर्वकामैः सुविहिता रक्ष्यमाणा सदा त्वया ॥०३-६६-१६॥
ajñāyamānāpi satī sukham asmi uṣiteha vai। sarvakāmaiḥ suviḥitā rakṣyamāṇā sadā tvayā॥03-66-16॥
[अज्ञायमाना (ajñāyamānā) - not being recognized; ignored; अपि (api) - even; though; सती (satī) - being (here, herself); सुखम् (sukham) - happily; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; उषिते (uṣite) - dwelling; इह (iha) - here; वै (vai) - indeed; सर्वकामैः (sarvakāmaiḥ) - with all desires; सुविहिता (suviḥitā) - well-provided; रक्ष्यमाणा (rakṣyamāṇā) - being protected; सदा (sadā) - always; त्वया (tvayā) - by you;]
(Not being recognized, even being, happily am I, dwelling here indeed, with all desires well-provided, being protected always by you.)
Even without being recognized, I have been happy living here, always well-provided with all my desires and constantly protected by you. (03-66-16)
सुखात्सुखतरो वासो भविष्यति न संशयः। चिरविप्रोषितां मातर्मामनुज्ञातुमर्हसि ॥०३-६६-१७॥
sukhātsukhataraḥ vāsaḥ bhaviṣyati na saṃśayaḥ। ciraviproṣitāṃ mātar māmanujñātum arhasi॥03-66-17॥
[सुखात् (sukhāt) - from happiness; सुखतरः (sukhataraḥ) - happier; वासः (vāsaḥ) - residence; भविष्यति (bhaviṣyati) - will be; न (na) - not; संशयः (saṃśayaḥ) - doubt; चिरविप्रोषिताम् (ciraviproṣitām) - long-exiled; मातर् (mātar) - O mother; माम् (mām) - me; अनुज्ञातुम् (anujñātum) - to permit; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you ought;]
(From happiness, happier will be residence, not (is there) doubt. Long-exiled, O mother, me to permit you ought.)
Certainly, a happier dwelling than before will be found, without any doubt. O mother, since I have been away for long, you ought to permit me. (03-66-17)
दारकौ च हि मे नीतौ वसतस्तत्र बालकौ। पित्रा विहीनौ शोकार्तौ मया चैव कथं नु तौ ॥०३-६६-१८॥
dārakau ca hi me nītau vasatas tatra bālakau। pitrā vihīṇau śokārtau mayā caiva kathaṁ nu tau ॥03-66-18॥
[दारकौ (dārakau) - the two boys; च (ca) - and; हि (hi) - indeed; मे (me) - my; नीतौ (nītau) - led (away); वसतस्तत्र (vasatas tatra) - living there; बालकौ (bālakau) - the two children; पित्रा (pitrā) - by (their) father; विहीनौ (vihīṇau) - deprived; शोकार्तौ (śokārtau) - afflicted with sorrow; मया (mayā) - by me; चैव (ca eva) - and indeed; कथं (kathaṁ) - how; नु (nu) - truly; तौ (tau) - those two;]
(The two boys and indeed my (sons), led away, living there, the two children, deprived by father, afflicted with sorrow, by me and indeed, how truly those two.)
The two boys, indeed my sons, have been taken away; while living there, those two children, deprived of their father and afflicted by sorrow, how truly can I support those two? (03-66-18)
यदि चापि प्रियं किञ्चिन्मयि कर्तुमिहेच्छसि। विदर्भान्यातुमिच्छामि शीघ्रं मे यानमादिश ॥०३-६६-१९॥
yadi cāpi priyaṃ kiñcin mayi kartum ihecchasi। vidarbhān yātum icchāmi śīghraṃ me yānam ādiśa ॥03-66-19॥
[यदि (yadi) - if; चापि (cāpi) - and also; प्रियं (priyaṃ) - pleasing; किञ्चित् (kiñcit) - something; मयि (mayi) - for me; कर्तुम् (kartum) - to do; इह (iha) - here; इच्छसि (icchasi) - you wish; विदर्भान् (vidarbhān) - to the Vidarbhas; यातुम् (yātum) - to go; इच्छामि (icchāmi) - I wish; शीघ्रम् (śīghram) - quickly; मे (me) - for me; यानम् (yānam) - vehicle; आदिश (ādiśa) - order;]
(If and also something pleasing for me to do here you wish, to the Vidarbhas to go I wish, quickly for me vehicle order.)
If you wish to do something pleasing for me here, order a vehicle for me quickly, for I wish to go to the Vidarbhas. (03-66-19)
बाढमित्येव तामुक्त्वा हृष्टा मातृष्वसा नृप। गुप्तां बलेन महता पुत्रस्यानुमते ततः ॥०३-६६-२०॥
bāḍhamityeva tāmuktvā hṛṣṭā mātṛṣvasā nṛpa। guptāṃ balena mahatā putrasyānumate tataḥ ॥03-66-20॥

(Certainly thus just to her having spoken, glad the maternal aunt, O king, having kept her hidden with great force with the consent of the son, thereafter.)
The maternal aunt, O king, having gladly said just 'Certainly' to her, then kept her hidden by great force, with her son's consent. (03-66-20)
प्रस्थापयद्राजमाता श्रीमता नरवाहिना। यानेन भरतश्रेष्ठ स्वन्नपानपरिच्छदाम् ॥०३-६६-२१॥
prasthāpayad rāja-mātā śrīmatā nara-vāhinā। yānena bharata-śreṣṭha svanna-pāna-paricchadām ॥03-66-21॥

ततः सा नचिरादेव विदर्भानगमच्छुभा। तां तु बन्धुजनः सर्वः प्रहृष्टः प्रत्यपूजयत् ॥०३-६६-२२॥
tataḥ sā nacirādeva vidarbhān agamac chubhā। tāṃ tu bandhujanaḥ sarvaḥ prahṛṣṭaḥ pratyapūjayat ॥03-66-22॥

(Then she, without delay indeed, to Vidarbha went, the auspicious lady. Her but family and relatives all, joyful, honored.)
Then, without delay, the auspicious lady went to Vidarbha. All her relatives and family members joyfully welcomed and honored her. (03-66-22)
सर्वान्कुशलिनो दृष्ट्वा बान्धवान्दारकौ च तौ। मातरं पितरं चैव सर्वं चैव सखीजनम् ॥०३-६६-२३॥
sarvān kuśalino dṛṣṭvā bāndhavān dārakau ca tau। mātaraṃ pitaraṃ caiva sarvaṃ caiva sakhījanam॥03-66-23॥
[सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; कुशलिनः (kuśalinaḥ) - safe; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; बान्धवान् (bāndhavān) - relatives; दाऱकौ (dārakau) - the two boys; च (ca) - and; तौ (tau) - those two; मातरम् (mātaram) - mother; पितरम् (pitaram) - father; चैव (caiva) - and also; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; चैव (caiva) - and also; सखीजनम् (sakhījanam) - companions;]
(Having seen all the relatives as being safe, those two boys, their mother, and father also, and all the companions as well.)
After seeing that all their relatives were safe, the two boys also saw their mother, father, and all their companions. (03-66-23)
देवताः पूजयामास ब्राह्मणांश्च यशस्विनी। विधिना परेण कल्याणी दमयन्ती विशां पते ॥०३-६६-२४॥
devatāḥ pūjayāmāsa brāhmaṇāṃś ca yaśasvinī। vidhinā pareṇa kalyāṇī damayantī viśāṃ pate ॥03-66-24॥
[देवताः (devatāḥ) - gods; पूजयामास (pūjayāmāsa) - honored; ब्राह्मणान् (brāhmaṇān) - Brāhmaṇas; च (ca) - and; यशस्विनी (yaśasvinī) - the illustrious woman; विधिना (vidhinā) - by the rite; परेण (pareṇa) - supreme; कल्याणी (kalyāṇī) - the auspicious one; दमयन्ती (damayantī) - Damayantī; विशां पते (viśāṃ pate) - O lord of the people;]
(Gods honored Brāhmaṇas and the illustrious woman, by the supreme rite, the auspicious Damayantī, O lord of the people.)
The illustrious, auspicious Damayantī honored the gods and Brāhmaṇas by the supreme rite, O lord of the people. (03-66-24)
अतर्पयत्सुदेवं च गोसहस्रेण पार्थिवः। प्रीतो दृष्ट्वैव तनयां ग्रामेण द्रविणेन च ॥०३-६६-२५॥
atarpayatsudevaṃ ca go-sahasreṇa pārthivaḥ। prīto dṛṣṭvaiva tanayāṃ grāmeṇa draviṇena ca॥03-66-25॥
[अतर्पयत् (atarpayat) - he satisfied; सुदेवं (sudevaṃ) - Sudeva; च (ca) - and; गोसहस्रेण (go-sahasreṇa) - with a thousand cows; पार्थिवः (pārthivaḥ) - the king; प्रीतः (prīto) - pleased; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; एव (eva) - indeed; तनयाम् (tanayām) - his daughter; ग्रामेण (grāmeṇa) - with a village; द्रविणेन (draviṇena) - with wealth; च (ca) - and;]
(The king satisfied Sudeva also with a thousand cows; pleased, having indeed seen his daughter, with a village and with wealth also.)
The king, upon seeing his daughter, was pleased and gratified Sudeva with a thousand cows, as well as a village and wealth. (03-66-25)
सा व्युष्टा रजनीं तत्र पितुर्वेश्मनि भामिनी। विश्रान्ता मातरं राजन्निदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥०३-६६-२६॥
sā vyuṣṭā rajanīṃ tatra pitur veśmani bhāminī। viśrāntā mātaraṃ rājan nidaṃ vacanam abravīt॥03-66-26॥
[सा (sā) - she; व्युष्टा (vyuṣṭā) - having passed; रजनीम् (rajanīm) - the night; तत्र (tatra) - there; पितुः (pituḥ) - of (her) father; वेश्मनि (veśmani) - in the house; भामिनी (bhāminī) - the radiant (lady); विश्रान्ता (viśrāntā) - having rested; मातरम् (mātaram) - to (her) mother; राजन् (rājan) - O king; इदम् (idam) - this; वचनम् (vacanam) - speech; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - she spoke;]
(She, having passed the night there in her father's house, the radiant lady, having rested, to (her) mother, O king, this speech she spoke.)
After spending the night there in her father's house, the radiant lady, having rested, spoke these words to her mother, O king. (03-66-26)
