Virāṭ said:
यद्येष राजा कौरव्यः कुन्तीपुत्रो युधिष्ठिरः। कतमोऽस्यार्जुनो भ्राता भीमश्च कतमो बली ॥०४-६६-१॥
yadyeṣa rājā kauravyaḥ kuntīputro yudhiṣṭhiraḥ। katamo'syārjuno bhrātā bhīmaś ca katamo balī॥04-66-1॥
[यदि (yadi) - if; एषः (eṣaḥ) - this; राजा (rājā) - king; कौरव्यः (kauravyaḥ) - descendant of Kuru; कुन्तीपुत्रः (kuntīputraḥ) - son of Kuntī; युधिष्ठिरः (yudhiṣṭhiraḥ) - Yudhiṣṭhira; कतमः (katamaḥ) - which (one); अस्य (asya) - of him; अर्जुनः (arjunaḥ) - Arjuna; भ्राता (bhrātā) - brother; भीमः (bhīmaḥ) - Bhīma; च (ca) - and; कतमः (katamaḥ) - which (one); बली (balī) - strong;]
(If this king, descendant of Kuru, son of Kuntī, is Yudhiṣṭhira: which (one) of him is Arjuna brother, and Bhīma which (one) is strong.)
If this king, the Kuru prince and son of Kuntī, is Yudhiṣṭhira, then which one is his brother Arjuna, and which one is the mighty Bhīma? (04-66-1)
नकुलः सहदेवो वा द्रौपदी वा यशस्विनी। यदा द्यूते जिताः पार्था न प्राज्ञायन्त ते क्वचित् ॥०४-६६-२॥
nakulaḥ sahadevo vā draupadī vā yaśasvinī. yadā dyūte jitāḥ pārthā na prājñāyanta te kvacit ॥04-66-2॥

(Nakula, Sahadeva, or Draupadī the illustrious, when in gambling the Pāṇḍavas were defeated, they were not known anywhere.)
When the Pāṇḍavas were defeated in gambling, Nakula, Sahadeva, or Draupadī the illustrious were not recognized anywhere. (04-66-2)

य एष बल्लवो ब्रूते सूदस्तव नराधिप। एष भीमो महाबाहुर्भीमवेगपराक्रमः ॥०४-६६-३॥
ya eṣa ballavo brūte sūdastava narādhipa। eṣa bhīmo mahābāhurbhīmavegaparākramaḥ ॥04-66-3॥
[य (ya) - who; एष (eṣa) - this; बल्लवः (ballavaḥ) - cowherd; ब्रूते (brūte) - says; सूदः (sūdaḥ) - charioteer; तव (tava) - your; नराधिप (narādhipa) - O king; एष (eṣa) - this; भीमः (bhīmaḥ) - Bhīma; महाबाहुः (mahābāhuḥ) - mighty-armed; भीमवेगपराक्रमः (bhīmavegaparākramaḥ) - of terrible speed and valor;]
(Who this cowherd says, charioteer your, O king. This is Bhīma, mighty-armed, of terrible speed and valor.)
O king, the one whom this cowherd, your charioteer, refers to is Bhīma, the mighty-armed, of terrible speed and valor. (04-66-3)
एष क्रोधवशान्हत्वा पर्वते गन्धमादने। सौगन्धिकानि दिव्यानि कृष्णार्थे समुपाहरत् ॥०४-६६-४॥
eṣa krodhavaśān hatvā parvate gandhamādane। saugandhikāni divyāni kṛṣṇārthe samupāharat॥04-66-4॥

(He, under the influence of anger, having killed, on the mountain Gandhamādana, Saugandhika divine (flowers), for Kṛṣṇa, he brought.)
He, driven by anger, killed (the guardians) and brought the divine Saugandhika flowers from Mount Gandhamādana for Kṛṣṇa. (04-66-4)
गन्धर्व एष वै हन्ता कीचकानां दुरात्मनाम्। व्याघ्रानृक्षान्वराहांश्च हतवान्स्त्रीपुरे तव ॥०४-६६-५॥
gandharva eṣa vai hantā kīcakānāṃ durātmanām। vyāghrān ṛkṣān varāhāṃś ca hatavān strīpure tava ॥04-66-5॥

This gandharva is indeed the slayer of the evil-minded Kīcakas, and has slain tigers, bears, and boars in your city of women. (04-66-5)
यश्चासीदश्वबन्धस्ते नकुलोऽयं परन्तपः। गोसङ्ख्यः सहदेवश्च माद्रीपुत्रौ महारथौ ॥०४-६६-६॥
yaś cāsīd aśvabandhas te nakulo'yaṃ parantapaḥ। gosaṅkhyaḥ sahadevaś ca mādrīputrau mahārathau ॥04-66-6॥

This Nakula, your horse-binder and scorcher of foes, and Sahadeva, the cattle-counter—both sons of Mādrī—are great chariot-warriors. (04-66-6)
शृङ्गारवेषाभरणौ रूपवन्तौ यशस्विनौ। नानारथसहस्राणां समर्थौ पुरुषर्षभौ ॥०४-६६-७॥
śṛṅgāraveṣābharaṇau rūpavantau yaśasvinau। nānā-ratha-sahasrāṇām samarthau puruṣarṣabhau॥04-66-7॥
[शृङ्गारवेषाभरणौ (śṛṅgāraveṣābharaṇau) - adorned with ornaments and dress of love; रूपवन्तौ (rūpavantau) - handsome; यशस्विनौ (yaśasvinau) - illustrious; नानारथसहस्राणां (nānā-ratha-sahasrāṇām) - of many thousands of chariots; समर्थौ (samarthau) - capable; पुरुषर्षभौ (puruṣarṣabhau) - bulls among men;]
(Adorned with ornaments and dress of love, handsome, illustrious, of many thousands of chariots, capable, bulls among men.)
Adorned in ornaments and garments of love, handsome and illustrious, capable of commanding thousands of chariots, the two were the best among men. (04-66-7)
एषा पद्मपलाशाक्षी सुमध्या चारुहासिनी। सैरन्ध्री द्रौपदी राजन्यत्कृते कीचका हताः ॥०४-६६-८॥
eṣā padmapalāśākṣī sumadhyā cāruhāsinī। sairandhrī draupadī rājanyatkṛte kīcakā hatāḥ ॥04-66-8॥

अर्जुनोऽहं महाराज व्यक्तं ते श्रोत्रमागतः। भीमादवरजः पार्थो यमाभ्यां चापि पूर्वजः ॥०४-६६-९॥
arjuno'haṃ mahārāja vyaktaṃ te śrotramāgataḥ। bhīmādavarajaḥ pārtho yamābhyāṃ cāpi pūrvajaḥ ॥04-66-9॥
[अर्जुनः (arjunaḥ) - Arjuna; अहम् (aham) - I; महाराज (mahārāja) - O great king; व्यक्तम् (vyaktam) - clearly; ते (te) - to you; श्रोत्रम् (śrotram) - ear; आगतः (āgataḥ) - has come; भीमात् (bhīmāt) - from Bhīma; अवरजः (avarajaḥ) - younger brother; पार्थः (pārthaḥ) - Pārtha (Arjuna); यमाभ्याम् (yamābhyām) - than the twins (Yama, i.e., Nakula and Sahadeva); च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; पूर्वजः (pūrvajaḥ) - elder brother;]
(Arjuna I, O great king, clearly to you ear has come. Than Bhīma younger brother, Pārtha, than the twins also elder brother.)
O great king, I am Arjuna; this has no doubt come to your ears. I am the younger brother of Bhīma, Pārtha, but older than the twin sons of Mādrī (Nakula and Sahadeva). (04-66-9)
उषिताः स्म महाराज सुखं तव निवेशने। अज्ञातवासमुषिता गर्भवास इव प्रजाः ॥०४-६६-१०॥
uṣitāḥ sma mahārāja sukhaṃ tava niveśane। ajñātavāsamuṣitā garbhavāsa iva prajāḥ ॥04-66-10॥
[उषिताः (uṣitāḥ) - lived; स्म (sma) - indeed; महाराज (mahārāja) - O great king; सुखं (sukhaṃ) - happily; तव (tava) - in your; निवेशने (niveśane) - residence; अज्ञातवासम् (ajñātavāsam) - unknown abode; उषिता (uṣitā) - lived; गर्भवास (garbhavāsa) - the state of being in the womb; इव (iva) - like; प्रजाः (prajāḥ) - subjects;]
(Lived indeed, O great king, happily in your residence. In unknown abode lived, like the state of being in the womb, the subjects.)
O great king, we lived happily in your residence. Living in exile unknown, the subjects were like being in the womb. (04-66-10)
वैशम्पायन उवाच॥

यदार्जुनेन ते वीराः कथिताः पञ्च पाण्डवाः। तदार्जुनस्य वैराटिः कथयामास विक्रमम् ॥०४-६६-११॥
yad ārjunena te vīrāḥ kathitāḥ pañca pāṇḍavāḥ। tad ārjunasya vairāṭiḥ kathayāmāsa vikramam॥04-66-11॥
[यदा (yadā) - when; अर्जुनेन (arjunena) - by Arjuna; ते (te) - those; वीराः (vīrāḥ) - heroes; कथिताः (kathitāḥ) - were described; पञ्च (pañca) - five; पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - Pāṇḍavas; तदा (tadā) - then; अर्जुनस्य (arjunasya) - of Arjuna; वैराटिः (vairāṭiḥ) - the son of Virāṭa; कथयामास (kathayāmāsa) - related; विक्रमम् (vikramam) - valor;]
(When by Arjuna those heroes, five Pāṇḍavas, were described, then the son of Virāṭa related the valor of Arjuna.)
When Arjuna described those heroes, the five Pāṇḍavas, then the son of Virāṭa recounted Arjuna's valor. (04-66-11)
अयं स द्विषतां मध्ये मृगाणामिव केसरी। अचरद्रथवृन्देषु निघ्नंस्तेषां वरान्वरान् ॥०४-६६-१२॥
ayaṃ sa dviṣatāṃ madhye mṛgāṇām iva kesarī। acarad rathavṛndeṣu nighnams teṣāṃ varān varān ॥04-66-12॥
[अयं (ayaṃ) - this (one); स (sa) - he; द्विषताम् (dviṣatām) - of enemies; मध्ये (madhye) - in the midst; मृगाणाम् (mṛgāṇām) - of deer; (here: beasts, animals;) इव (iva) - like; as; as if; केसरी (kesarī) - lion; (the lord of the forest;) अचरत् (acarat) - moved; wandered; acted; रथवृन्देषु (rathavṛndeṣu) - among chariot-groups; in chariot-troops; निघ्नन् (nighnan) - striking down; slaying; killing; तेषाम् (teṣām) - of them; their; वरान् (varān) - the best; heroes; वरान् (varān) - the best; heroes;]
(This he in the midst of enemies, like a lion among deer, moved among the companies of chariots, killing their best of heroes again and again.)
He, like a lion among deer in the midst of enemies, moved through the chariot divisions, repeatedly slaying their foremost warriors. (04-66-12)
अनेन विद्धो मातङ्गो महानेकेषुणा हतः। हिरण्यकक्ष्यः सङ्ग्रामे दन्ताभ्यामगमन्महीम् ॥०४-६६-१३॥
anena viddho mātaṅgo mahānekẹṣuṇā hataḥ। hiraṇyakakṣyaḥ saṅgrāme dantābhyām agamam mahīm॥04-66-13॥
[अनेन (anena) - by this (one); विद्धः (viddhaḥ) - struck; pierced; मातङ्गः (mātaṅgaḥ) - elephant; महान् (mahān) - great; एकेषुणा (ekẹṣuṇā) - by a single arrow; हतः (hataḥ) - killed; हिरण्यकक्ष्यः (hiraṇyakakṣyaḥ) - Hiraṇyakakṣya (proper name as an epithet or title, lit. 'one with golden sides'); सङ्ग्रामे (saṅgrāme) - in battle; दन्ताभ्याम् (dantābhyām) - by (his) two tusks; अगमन् (agamam) - he approached; he attained; महीम् (mahīm) - the earth;]
(By this (one) struck, the elephant, great, by a single arrow, was killed; Hiraṇyakakṣya in battle, by his two tusks, reached the earth.)
Struck by this one, the great elephant was killed by a single arrow; Hiraṇyakakṣya, in the battle, fell to the ground by his two tusks. (04-66-13)
अनेन विजिता गावो जिताश्च कुरवो युधि। अस्य शङ्खप्रणादेन कर्णौ मे बधिरीकृतौ ॥०४-६६-१४॥
anena vijitā gāvo jitāś ca kuravo yudhi। asya śaṅkhapraṇādena karṇau me badhirīkṛtau॥04-66-14॥
[अनेन (anena) - by this one; विजिता (vijitā) - conquered; गावः (gāvaḥ) - cows; जिताश् (jitāḥ) - defeated; च (ca) - and; कुरवः (kuravaḥ) - Kurus; युधि (yudhi) - in battle; अस्य (asya) - of this one; शङ्खप्रणादेन (śaṅkhapraṇādena) - by the sound of (his) conch; कर्णौ (karṇau) - ears (dual); मे (me) - my; बधिरीकृतौ (badhirīkṛtau) - made deaf;]
(By this one, cows were conquered; the Kurus also defeated in battle. By the sound of his conch, my ears have been made deaf. (04-66-14))
By him, the cows were seized, and the Kurus were also vanquished in battle. The sound of his conch has deafened my ears. (04-66-14)
तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा मत्स्यराजः प्रतापवान्। उत्तरं प्रत्युवाचेदमभिपन्नो युधिष्ठिरे ॥०४-६६-१५॥
tasya tadvacanaṃ śrutvā matsyarājaḥ pratāpavān। uttaraṃ pratyuvācedam abhipanno yudhiṣṭhire ॥04-66-15॥
[तस्य (tasya) - of him; तद्वचनं (tadvacanaṃ) - that speech; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; मत्स्यराजः (matsyarājaḥ) - the king of the Matsyas; प्रतापवान् (pratāpavān) - full of prowess; उत्तरं (uttaraṃ) - reply; प्रत्युवाच (pratyuvāca) - replied; इदं (idam) - this; अभिपन्नः (abhipannaḥ) - bent on (intent upon); युधिष्ठिरे (yudhiṣṭhire) - to Yudhiṣṭhira;]
(Of him that speech having heard, the king of the Matsyas, full of prowess, this reply replied, intent upon (to) Yudhiṣṭhira.)
Having heard those words, the valiant king of the Matsyas, intent on Yudhiṣṭhira, gave this reply. (04-66-15)
प्रसादनं पाण्डवस्य प्राप्तकालं हि रोचये। उत्तरां च प्रयच्छामि पार्थाय यदि ते मतम् ॥०४-६६-१६॥
prasādanaṃ pāṇḍavasya prāptakālaṃ hi rocaye। uttarāṃ ca prayacchāmi pārthāya yadi te matam ॥04-66-16॥
[प्रसादनं (prasādanam) - conciliation; पाण्डवस्य (pāṇḍavasya) - of the Pāṇḍava; प्राप्तकालं (prāptakālam) - timely; हि (hi) - indeed; रोचये (rocaye) - I approve; उत्तरां (uttarām) - Uttarā; च (ca) - and; प्रयच्छामि (prayacchāmi) - I shall give; पार्थाय (pārthāya) - to Pārtha (Arjuna); यदि (yadi) - if; ते (te) - to you; मतम् (matam) - the opinion;]
(Conciliation of the Pāṇḍava, timely indeed, I approve. Uttarā also I shall give to Pārtha, if to you (it is) the opinion.)
I approve a timely reconciliation with the Pāṇḍava. I will also give Uttarā to Pārtha, if that is your opinion. (04-66-16)

अर्च्याः पूज्याश्च मान्याश्च प्राप्तकालं च मे मतम्। पूज्यन्तां पूजनार्हाश्च महाभागाश्च पाण्डवाः ॥०४-६६-१७॥
arcyāḥ pūjyāś ca mānyāś ca prāptakālaṃ ca me matam। pūjyantāṃ pūjanārhāś ca mahābhāgāś ca pāṇḍavāḥ ॥04-66-17॥
[अर्च्याः (arcyāḥ) - worthy of worship; पूज्याः (pūjyāḥ) - worthy of honor; च (ca) - and; मान्याः (mānyāḥ) - respectable; च (ca) - and; प्राप्तकालं (prāptakālam) - appropriate time; च (ca) - and; मे (me) - my; मतम् (matam) - opinion; पूज्यन्तां (pūjyantām) - let them be worshipped; पूजनार्हाः (pūjanārhāḥ) - worthy of worship; च (ca) - and; महाभागाः (mahābhāgāḥ) - greatly fortunate ones; च (ca) - and; पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - the Pāṇḍavas;]
(Worthy of worship, worthy of honor, and respectable, and my opinion is also that the appropriate time has come. Let the Pāṇḍavas, who are worthy of worship and are greatly fortunate, be worshipped.)
The Pāṇḍavas are worthy of worship, honor, and respect, and in my opinion the proper time has come. Let these greatly fortunate ones, deserving of worship, be honored. (04-66-17)

अहं खल्वपि सङ्ग्रामे शत्रूणां वशमागतः। मोक्षितो भीमसेनेन गावश्च विजितास्तथा ॥०४-६६-१८॥
ahaṁ khalvapi saṅgrāme śatrūṇāṁ vaśamāgataḥ। mokṣito bhīmasenena gāvaśca vijitāstathā॥04-66-18॥
[अहं (ahaṁ) - I; खलु (khalu) - indeed; अपि (api) - also; सङ्ग्रामे (saṅgrāme) - in battle; शत्रूणां (śatrūṇām) - of enemies; वशम् (vaśam) - power; आगतः (āgataḥ) - having come; मोक्षितः (mokṣitaḥ) - freed; भीमसेनेन (bhīmasenena) - by Bhīmasena; गावः (gāvaḥ) - the cows; च (ca) - and; विजिताः (vijitāḥ) - conquered; तथा (tathā) - thus;]
(I indeed also in battle of the enemies' power having come, freed by Bhīmasena, the cows and conquered thus.)
I too, having fallen under the power of the enemies in battle, was freed by Bhīmasena; and thus the cows were also recovered. (04-66-18)
एतेषां बाहुवीर्येण यदस्माकं जयो मृधे। वयं सर्वे सहामात्याः कुन्तीपुत्रं युधिष्ठिरम् ॥ प्रसादयामो भद्रं ते सानुजं पाण्डवर्षभम् ॥०४-६६-१९॥
eteṣāṃ bāhuvīryeṇa yadasmākaṃ jayo mṛdhe। vayaṃ sarve sahāmātyāḥ kuntīputraṃ yudhiṣṭhiram ॥ prasādayāmo bhadraṃ te sānujaṃ pāṇḍavarṣabham ॥04-66-19॥
[एतेषां (eteṣām) - of these; बाहुवीर्येण (bāhuvīryeṇa) - by arm-strength; यत् (yat) - which; अस्माकं (asmākam) - our; जयः (jayaḥ) - victory; मृधे (mṛdhe) - in battle; वयम् (vayam) - we; सर्वे (sarve) - all; सहामात्याः (sahāmātyāḥ) - with ministers; कुन्तीपुत्रं (kuntīputram) - Kunti's son; युधिष्ठिरम् (yudhiṣṭhiram) - Yudhishthira; प्रसादयामः (prasādayāmaḥ) - we propitiate; भद्रं (bhadram) - good; ते (te) - to you; सानुजं (sānujaṃ) - with brothers; पाण्डवर्षभम् (pāṇḍavarṣabham) - the bull among the Pandavas; ॥०४-६६-१९॥ (॥04-66-19॥) - ;]
(By the arm-strength of these, which is our victory in battle, we all, together with ministers, propitiate Kunti's son Yudhishthira, good to you, with brothers, the bull among the Pandavas.)
Because our victory in battle is due to the arm-strength of these men, we all, along with our ministers, seek the favor of Kunti's son Yudhishthira, together with his brothers, that noble bull among the Pandavas. (04-66-19)
यदस्माभिरजानद्भिः किञ्चिदुक्तो नराधिपः। क्षन्तुमर्हति तत्सर्वं धर्मात्मा ह्येष पाण्डवः ॥०४-६६-२०॥
yadasmābhir ajānadbhiḥ kiñcid ukto narādhipaḥ। kṣantum arhati tat sarvaṁ dharmātmā hy eṣa pāṇḍavaḥ॥04-66-20॥
[यत् (yat) - which; अस्माभिः (asmābhiḥ) - by us; अजानद्भिः (ajānadbhiḥ) - unknowing; किञ्चित् (kiñcit) - anything; उक्तः (uktaḥ) - said; नराधिपः (narādhipaḥ) - the king; क्षन्तुम् (kṣantum) - to forgive; अर्हति (arhati) - is worthy; तत् (tat) - that; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; धर्मात्मा (dharmātmā) - righteous-souled; हि (hi) - for; एषः (eṣaḥ) - this; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - Pandava;]
(Which by us unknowing anything said, the king to forgive that all is worthy; for righteous-souled, this Pandava.)
Whatever we have said unknowingly, the king should forgive all that, for this Pandava is righteous-souled. (04-66-20)
वैशम्पायन उवाच॥

Vaiśampāyana said.
ततो विराटः परमाभितुष्टः; समेत्य राज्ञा समयं चकार। राज्यं च सर्वं विससर्ज तस्मै; सदण्डकोशं सपुरं महात्मा ॥०४-६६-२१॥
tato virāṭaḥ paramābhituṣṭaḥ; sametya rājñā samayaṃ cakāra. rājyaṃ ca sarvaṃ visasarja tasmai; sadaṇḍakośaṃ sapuraṃ mahātmā ॥04-66-21॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; विराटः (virāṭaḥ) - Virāṭa; परमाभितुष्टः (paramābhituṣṭaḥ) - extremely pleased; समेत्य (sametya) - having come together; राज्ञा (rājñā) - with the king; समयं (samayaṃ) - agreement; चकार (cakāra) - made; राज्यं (rājyaṃ) - the kingdom; च (ca) - and; सर्वं (sarvaṃ) - all; विससर्ज (visasarja) - gave up; तस्मै (tasmai) - to him; सदण्डकोशं (sadaṇḍakośaṃ) - with treasury and army; सपुरं (sapuraṃ) - with the city; महात्मा (mahātmā) - great-souled one;]
(Then Virāṭa, extremely pleased, having come together with the king, made an agreement. The entire kingdom, with treasury and army, with the city, the great-souled one gave up to him.)
Then, Virāṭa, being extremely pleased, met with the king and made an agreement. He gave the entire kingdom, complete with treasury, army, and city, to him, the great-souled one. (04-66-21)
पाण्डवांश्च ततः सर्वान्मत्स्यराजः प्रतापवान्। धनञ्जयं पुरस्कृत्य दिष्ट्या दिष्ट्येति चाब्रवीत् ॥०४-६६-२२॥
pāṇḍavāṁś ca tataḥ sarvān matsyarājaḥ pratāpavān। dhanañjayaṁ puraskṛtya diṣṭyā diṣṭyeti cābravīt ॥04-66-22॥
[पाण्डवान् (pāṇḍavān) - the Pāṇḍavas; च (ca) - and; ततः (tataḥ) - then; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; मत्स्यराजः (matsyarājaḥ) - the king of the Matsyas; प्रतापवान् (pratāpavān) - mighty; धनञ्जयम् (dhanañjayam) - Dhanañjaya (Arjuna); पुरस्कृत्य (puraskṛtya) - placing foremost; दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - by fortune; दिष्ट्य (diṣṭya) - by fortune; इति (iti) - thus; च (ca) - and; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - he said;]
(And then the mighty king of the Matsyas, having placed Dhanañjaya (Arjuna) foremost, to all the Pāṇḍavas said 'By fortune! By fortune!' thus.)
Then the mighty king of the Matsyas, placing Dhanañjaya at the front, said to all the Pāṇḍavas, 'By fortune! By fortune!'. (04-66-22)
समुपाघ्राय मूर्धानं संश्लिष्य च पुनः पुनः। युधिष्ठिरं च भीमं च माद्रीपुत्रौ च पाण्डवौ ॥०४-६६-२३॥
samupāghrāya mūrdhānaṃ saṃśliṣya ca punaḥ punaḥ। yudhiṣṭhiraṃ ca bhīmaṃ ca mādrīputrau ca pāṇḍavau॥04-66-23॥
[समुपाघ्राय (samupāghrāya) - having thoroughly smelled; (with affection); मूर्धानं (mūrdhānam) - the head; (accusative singular); संश्लिष्य (saṃśliṣya) - having embraced; (holding closely); च (ca) - and; पुनः पुनः (punaḥ punaḥ) - again and again; युधिष्ठिरं (yudhiṣṭhiraṃ) - Yudhishthira; (accusative singular); च (ca) - and; भीमं (bhīmaṃ) - Bhima; (accusative singular); च (ca) - and; माद्रीपुत्रौ (mādrīputrau) - the two sons of Madri; (dual nominative); च (ca) - and; पाण्डवौ (pāṇḍavau) - the two Pandavas; (dual nominative);]
(Having thoroughly smelled the head, having embraced and again and again, Yudhishthira and Bhima and the two sons of Madri and the two Pandavas.)
After affectionately smelling the heads and repeatedly embracing Yudhishthira, Bhima, and the two sons of Madri — the two Pandavas —
नातृप्यद्दर्शने तेषां विराटो वाहिनीपतिः। सम्प्रीयमाणो राजानं युधिष्ठिरमथाब्रवीत् ॥०४-६६-२४॥
nātṛpyaddarśane teṣāṃ virāṭo vāhinīpatiḥ। samprīyamāṇo rājānaṃ yudhiṣṭhiramathābravīt ॥04-66-24॥
[न (na) - not; अतृप्यत् (atṛpyat) - was not satisfied; दर्शने (darśane) - in seeing; तेषां (teṣām) - of them; विराटः (virāṭaḥ) - Virāṭa; वाहिनीपतिः (vāhinīpatiḥ) - the (army-)lord; सम्प्रीयमाणः (samprīyamāṇaḥ) - being pleased; राजानम् (rājānam) - the king (acc.); युधिष्ठिरम् (yudhiṣṭhiram) - Yudhiṣṭhira (acc.); अथ (atha) - then; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said;]
(Not was satisfied in seeing of them Virāṭa, the lord of the army. Being pleased, the king Yudhiṣṭhira then he said.)
Virāṭa, the lord of the army, was not satisfied with seeing them. Being pleased, he then spoke to King Yudhiṣṭhira. (04-66-24)
दिष्ट्या भवन्तः सम्प्राप्ताः सर्वे कुशलिनो वनात्। दिष्ट्या च पारितं कृच्छ्रमज्ञातं वै दुरात्मभिः ॥०४-६६-२५॥
diṣṭyā bhavantaḥ samprāptāḥ sarve kuśalino vanāt। diṣṭyā ca pāritaṃ kṛcchram ajñātaṃ vai durātmabhiḥ ॥04-66-25॥
[दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - by fortune; fortunately; भवन्तः (bhavantaḥ) - you all; सम्प्राप्ताः (samprāptāḥ) - have arrived; सर्वे (sarve) - all; कुशलिनो (kuśalinaḥ) - safe; well; वनात् (vanāt) - from the forest; दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - fortunately; च (ca) - and; पारितं (pāritaṃ) - overcome; crossed; कृच्छ्रम् (kṛcchram) - difficulty; अज्ञातं (ajñātam) - unknown; वै (vai) - indeed; दुरात्मभिः (durātmabhiḥ) - by wicked beings;]
(Fortunately you all have arrived, all safe from the forest. Fortunately also the difficulty, unknown, indeed, has been overcome by wicked beings.)
Fortunately, you all have returned safely from the forest. Fortunately, too, you have overcome the unknown difficulty caused by wicked beings. (04-66-25)
इदं च राज्यं नः पार्था यच्चान्यद्वसु किञ्चन। प्रतिगृह्णन्तु तत्सर्वं कौन्तेया अविशङ्कया ॥०४-६६-२६॥
idaṃ ca rājyaṃ naḥ pārthā yaccānyadvasu kiñcana। pratigṛhṇantu tatsarvaṃ kaunteyā aviśaṅkayā ॥04-66-26॥
[इदं (idaṃ) - this; च (ca) - and; राज्यं (rājyaṃ) - kingdom; नः (naḥ) - our; पार्था (pārthā) - sons of Pṛthā (Arjuna and his brothers); यच्च (yacca) - and whatever; अन्यद् (anyad) - else; वसु (vasu) - wealth; किञ्चन (kiñcana) - whatsoever; प्रतिगृह्णन्तु (pratigṛhṇantu) - let them accept; तत् (tat) - that; सर्वं (sarvaṃ) - all; कौन्तेया (kaunteyā) - the sons of Kuntī (Pandavas); अविशङ्कया (aviśaṅkayā) - without doubt;]
(This and the kingdom, our, O sons of Pṛthā, and whatever other wealth whatsoever, let them accept all that, the sons of Kuntī, without doubt.)
Let the sons of Kuntī accept, without any doubt, this kingdom of ours and whatever other wealth there may be, O sons of Pṛthā. (04-66-26)
उत्तरां प्रतिगृह्णातु सव्यसाची धनञ्जयः। अयं ह्यौपयिको भर्ता तस्याः पुरुषसत्तमः ॥०४-६६-२७॥
uttarām pratigṛhṇātu savyasācī dhanañjayaḥ। ayaṁ hyaupayiko bhartā tasyāḥ puruṣasattamaḥ॥04-66-27॥
[उत्तरां (uttarām) - Uttarā (the maiden named Uttarā); प्रतिगृह्णातु (pratigṛhṇātu) - let him accept; let him receive; सव्यसाची (savyasācī) - the ambidextrous one; (epithet of Arjuna); धनञ्जयः (dhanañjayaḥ) - Dhanañjaya (Arjuna); अयम् (ayam) - this one; he; हि (hi) - indeed; for; औपयिकः (aupayikaḥ) - relating to a marriage (with the daughter of a friend/promised girl); भर्ता (bhartā) - husband; तस्याः (tasyāḥ) - her; of her; पुरुषसत्तमः (puruṣasattamaḥ) - best among men; excellent man;]
(Uttarā let accept Savyasācī Dhanañjaya; this indeed arises from friendship husband of her best among men.)
Let Savyasācī Dhanañjaya accept Uttarā; for this illustrious man is, indeed, her rightful husband—best among men. (04-66-27)
एवमुक्तो धर्मराजः पार्थमैक्षद्धनञ्जयम्। ईक्षितश्चार्जुनो भ्रात्रा मत्स्यं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥०४-६६-२८॥
evam-ukto dharmarājaḥ pārtham aikṣad dhanañjayam। īkṣitaś cārjuno bhrātrā matsyaṃ vacanam abravīt॥04-66-28॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्तः (uktaḥ) - having been spoken; धर्मराजः (dharmarājaḥ) - Dharmaraja (Yudhishthira); पार्थम् (pārtham) - Partha (Arjuna); ऐक्षत् (aikṣat) - looked at; धनञ्जयम् (dhanañjayam) - Dhananjaya (Arjuna); ईक्षितः (īkṣitaḥ) - having been looked at; च (ca) - and; अर्जुनः (arjunaḥ) - Arjuna; भ्रात्रा (bhrātrā) - by (his) brother; मत्स्यं (matsyam) - to Matsya (Virata); वचनम् (vacanam) - word; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - spoke;]
(Thus having been spoken to, Dharmaraja (Yudhishthira) looked at Partha (Arjuna), Dhananjaya. And having been looked at by his brother, Arjuna spoke word to Matsya.)
Thus addressed, Dharmaraja (Yudhishthira) looked at Partha (Arjuna, Dhananjaya). Perceived by his brother, Arjuna spoke to King Matsya. (04-66-28)
प्रतिगृह्णाम्यहं राजन्स्नुषां दुहितरं तव। युक्तश्चावां हि सम्बन्धो मत्स्यभारतसत्तमौ ॥०४-६६-२९॥
pratigṛhṇāmyahaṃ rājan snuṣāṃ duhitaraṃ tava। yuktaścāvāṃ hi sambandho matsya-bhārata-sattamau ॥04-66-29॥
[प्रतिगृह्णामि (pratigṛhṇāmi) - I accept; अहम् (aham) - I; राजन् (rājan) - O king; स्नुषाम् (snuṣām) - daughter-in-law; दुहितरम् (duhitaram) - daughter; त्व (tava) - your; युक्यः (yuktaḥ) - proper; च (ca) - and; आवाम् (āvām) - (between) us two; हि (hi) - indeed; सम्बन्धः (sambandhaḥ) - relation; मत्स्यभारतसत्तमौ (matsya-bhārata-sattamau) - O best of the Matsyas and the Bhāratas;]
(I accept, O king, your daughter as a daughter-in-law. Proper indeed is relation between us two, O best of the Matsyas and Bhāratas.)
O king, I accept your daughter as a daughter-in-law. The connection between us two is indeed appropriate, O best of Matsyas and Bhāratas. (04-66-29)
