yādṛśaḥ puruṣasyātmā tādṛśaṃ samprabhāṣate। yathārūpo'ntarātmā te tathārūpaṃ prabhāṣase ॥5-3-1॥
[यादृशः (yādṛśaḥ) - as is; पुरुषस्य (puruṣasya) - of a person; आत्मा (ātmā) - soul; तादृशं (tādṛśaṃ) - so is; सम्प्रभाषते (samprabhāṣate) - speaks; यथारूपः (yathārūpaḥ) - as is the form; अन्तरात्मा (antarātmā) - inner self; ते (te) - your; तथारूपं (tathārūpaṃ) - so is the form; प्रभाषसे (prabhāṣase) - you speak;]
(As is the soul of a person, so he speaks. As is the form of your inner self, so is the form you speak.)
A person speaks according to the nature of their soul. Similarly, the way you express yourself reflects your inner self.
सन्ति वै पुरुषाः शूराः सन्ति कापुरुषास्तथा। उभावेतौ दृढौ पक्षौ दृश्येते पुरुषान्प्रति ॥५-३-२॥
santi vai puruṣāḥ śūrāḥ santi kāpuruṣās tathā। ubhāv etau dṛḍhau pakṣau dṛśyete puruṣān prati ॥5-3-2॥
[सन्ति (santi) - are; वै (vai) - indeed; पुरुषाः (puruṣāḥ) - men; शूराः (śūrāḥ) - heroes; सन्ति (santi) - are; कापुरुषाः (kāpuruṣāḥ) - cowards; तथा (tathā) - also; उभावौ (ubhāvau) - both; एतौ (etau) - these; दृढौ (dṛḍhau) - strong; पक्षौ (pakṣau) - sides; दृश्येते (dṛśyete) - are seen; पुरुषान् (puruṣān) - men; प्रति (prati) - towards;]
(There are indeed men who are heroes, and there are also cowards. Both these strong sides are seen towards men.)
There are indeed brave men and also cowards. Both these strong sides are evident among men.
एकस्मिन्नेव जायेते कुले क्लीबमहारथौ। फलाफलवती शाखे यथैकस्मिन्वनस्पतौ ॥५-३-३॥
ekasminneva jāyete kule klībamahārathau। phalāphalavatī śākhe yathaikasminvanaspatau ॥5-3-3॥

नाभ्यसूयामि ते वाक्यं ब्रुवतो लाङ्गलध्वज। ये तु शृण्वन्ति ते वाक्यं तानसूयामि माधव ॥५-३-४॥

समाहूय महात्मानं जितवन्तोऽक्षकोविदाः। अनक्षज्ञं यथाश्रद्धं तेषु धर्मजयः कुतः ॥५-३-६॥

को हि गाण्डीवधन्वानं कश्च चक्रायुधं युधि। मां चापि विषहेत्को नु कश्च भीमं दुरासदम् ॥५-३-१६॥

(Yama-like and strong-bowed, like Yama, greatly radiant. Who was desiring to live, this Dhrishtadyumna and the son of Prishata.)

पञ्चेमान्पाण्डवेयांश्च द्रौपद्याः कीर्तिवर्धनान्। समप्रमाणान्पाण्डूनां समवीर्यान्मदोत्कटान् ॥५-३-१८॥
pañcemānpāṇḍaveyāṃśca draupadyāḥ kīrtivardhanān। samapramāṇānpāṇḍūnāṃ samavīryānmadotkaṭān ॥5-3-18॥
[पञ्च (pañca) - five; इमान् (imān) - these; पाण्डवेयान् (pāṇḍaveyān) - sons of Pandavas; च (ca) - and; द्रौपद्याः (draupadyāḥ) - of Draupadi; कीर्तिवर्धनान् (kīrtivardhanān) - fame-increasing; समप्रमाणान् (samapramāṇān) - equal in stature; पाण्डूनाम् (pāṇḍūnām) - of the Pandavas; समवीर्यान् (samavīryān) - equal in valor; मदोत्कटान् (madotkaṭān) - intoxicated with pride;]
(Five these sons of Pandavas and of Draupadi, fame-increasing, equal in stature of the Pandavas, equal in valor, intoxicated with pride.)

ते वयं धृतराष्ट्रस्य पुत्रं शकुनिना सह। कर्णेन च निहत्याजावभिषेक्ष्याम पाण्डवम् ॥५-३-२०॥
te vayaṃ dhṛtarāṣṭrasya putraṃ śakuninā saha। karṇena ca nihatya ajāv abhiṣekṣyāma pāṇḍavam ॥5-3-20॥

नाधर्मो विद्यते कश्चिच्छत्रून्हत्वाततायिनः। अधर्म्यमयशस्यं च शात्रवाणां प्रयाचनम् ॥५-३-२१॥
nādharmo vidyate kaścicchatrūnhatvātatāyinaḥ। adharmyamayaśasyaṃ ca śātravāṇāṃ prayācanam ॥5-3-21॥
[न (na) - not; अधर्मः (adharmaḥ) - unrighteousness; विद्यते (vidyate) - exists; कश्चित् (kaścit) - any; शत्रून् (śatrūn) - enemies; हत्वा (hatvā) - having killed; ततायिनः (tatāyinaḥ) - aggressors; अधर्म्यम् (adharmyam) - unrighteous; अयशस्यं (ayaśasyam) - inglorious; च (ca) - and; शात्रवाणाम् (śātravāṇām) - of enemies; प्रयाचनम् (prayācanam) - begging;]
(There is no unrighteousness in killing aggressors who are enemies; begging from enemies is unrighteous and inglorious.)
There is no sin in killing aggressors who are enemies; however, it is both unrighteous and disgraceful to beg from one's enemies.
हृद्गतस्तस्य यः कामस्तं कुरुध्वमतन्द्रिताः। निसृष्टं धृतराष्ट्रेण राज्यं प्राप्नोतु पाण्डवः ॥५-३-२२॥
hṛdgatas tasya yaḥ kāmas taṃ kurudhvam atandritāḥ। nisṛṣṭaṃ dhṛtarāṣṭreṇa rājyaṃ prāpnotu pāṇḍavaḥ ॥5-3-22॥
[हृद्गतः (hṛdgataḥ) - in the heart; तस्य (tasya) - his; यः (yaḥ) - which; कामः (kāmaḥ) - desire; तम् (tam) - that; कुरुध्वम् (kurudhvam) - do; अतन्द्रिताः (atandritāḥ) - without delay; निसृष्टम् (nisṛṣṭam) - entrusted; धृतराष्ट्रेण (dhṛtarāṣṭreṇa) - by Dhritarashtra; राज्यम् (rājyam) - kingdom; प्राप्नोतु (prāpnotu) - may obtain; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - Pandava;]
(Do that desire of his which is in the heart without delay. Let the Pandava obtain the kingdom entrusted by Dhritarashtra.)
