पितुरेतद्वचः श्रुत्वा धार्तराष्ट्रोऽत्यमर्षणः। आधाय विपुलं क्रोधं पुनरेवेदमब्रवीत् ॥५-६०-१॥
pituretadvacaḥ śrutvā dhārtarāṣṭro'tyamarṣaṇaḥ। ādhāya vipulaṃ krodhaṃ punarevedamabravīt ॥5-60-1॥
[पितुः (pituḥ) - of the father; एतत् (etat) - this; वचः (vacaḥ) - words; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; धार्तराष्ट्रः (dhārtarāṣṭraḥ) - Dhritarashtra's son; अत्यमर्षणः (atyamarṣaṇaḥ) - very angry; आधाय (ādhāya) - having taken; विपुलं (vipulaṃ) - great; क्रोधं (krodhaṃ) - anger; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; एव (eva) - indeed; इदम् (idam) - this; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - spoke;]

अशक्या देवसचिवाः पार्थाः स्युरिति यद्भवान्। मन्यते तद्भयं व्येतु भवतो राजसत्तम ॥५-६०-२॥
aśakyā devasacivāḥ pārthāḥ syuriti yadbhavān। manyate tadbhayaṃ vyetu bhavato rājasattama ॥5-60-2॥

(The gods' ministers, the sons of Pritha, would be impossible, thus you think. Let that fear of yours go, O best of kings.)
You think that the sons of Pritha, who are like the ministers of the gods, are impossible to defeat. Let go of that fear, O best of kings.
अकामद्वेषसंयोगाद्द्रोहाल्लोभाच्च भारत। उपेक्षया च भावानां देवा देवत्वमाप्नुवन् ॥५-६०-३॥
akāmadveṣasaṃyogāddrohāllobhācca bhārata। upekṣayā ca bhāvānāṃ devā devatvamāpnuvan ॥5-60-3॥

O Bhārata, the gods attained divinity by being free from desire, hatred, association, malice, greed, and by neglecting beings.
इति द्वैपायनो व्यासो नारदश्च महातपाः। जामदग्न्यश्च रामो नः कथामकथयत्पुरा ॥५-६०-४॥

यदि ह्यग्निश्च वायुश्च धर्म इन्द्रोऽश्विनावपि। कामयोगात्प्रवर्तेरन्न पार्था दुःखमाप्नुयुः ॥५-६०-६॥

(If indeed fire and wind, dharma, Indra, and the Ashvins also, by the influence of desire, would act, the sons of Pritha would not obtain sorrow.)
If even the elements like fire and wind, along with dharma, Indra, and the Ashvins, were to act under the influence of desire, the sons of Pritha would not encounter sorrow.
तस्मान्न भवता चिन्ता कार्यैषा स्यात्कदाचन। दैवेष्वपेक्षका ह्येते शश्वद्भावेषु भारत ॥५-६०-७॥
tasmānna bhavatā cintā kāryaiṣā syātkadācana। daiveṣvapekṣakā hyete śaśvadbhāveṣu bhārata ॥5-60-7॥

अथ चेत्कामसंयोगाद्द्वेषाल्लोभाच्च लक्ष्यते। देवेषु देवप्रामाण्यं नैव तद्विक्रमिष्यति ॥५-६०-८॥
atha cet kāmasaṁyogād dveṣāl lobhāc ca lakṣyate। deveṣu devaprāmāṇyaṁ naiva tad vikramiṣyati ॥5-60-8॥

(Now, if it is observed due to union with desire, hatred, and greed, the authority of the gods among the gods will not at all overpower that.)

मयाभिमन्त्रितः शश्वज्जातवेदाः प्रशंसति। दिधक्षुः सकलाँल्लोकान्परिक्षिप्य समन्ततः ॥५-६०-९॥
mayābhimantritaḥ śaśvajjātavedāḥ praśaṁsati। didhakṣuḥ sakalāṁllokānparikṣipya samantataḥ ॥5-60-9॥

(Enchanted by me, Agni always praises, desiring to burn all worlds, surrounding from all sides.)

यद्वा परमकं तेजो येन युक्ता दिवौकसः। ममाप्यनुपमं भूयो देवेभ्यो विद्धि भारत ॥५-६०-१०॥

Know, O Bhārata, that my splendor is supreme and incomparable, even greater than that of the gods, by which they are endowed.
प्रदीर्यमाणां वसुधां गिरीणां शिखराणि च। लोकस्य पश्यतो राजन्स्थापयाम्यभिमन्त्रणात् ॥५-६०-११॥
pradīryamāṇāṃ vasudhāṃ girīṇāṃ śikharāṇi ca। lokasya paśyato rājansthāpayāmyabhimantraṇāt ॥5-60-11॥
[प्रदीर्यमाणां (pradīryamāṇāṃ) - being shattered; वसुधां (vasudhāṃ) - earth; गिरीणां (girīṇāṃ) - of mountains; शिखराणि (śikharāṇi) - peaks; च (ca) - and; लोकस्य (lokasya) - of the world; पश्यतः (paśyataḥ) - watching; राजन् (rājan) - O king; स्थापयामि (sthāpayāmi) - I establish; अभिमन्त्रणात् (abhimantraṇāt) - by incantation;]
(Being shattered, the earth and the peaks of the mountains, O king, I establish by incantation while the world watches.)

चेतनाचेतनस्यास्य जङ्गमस्थावरस्य च। विनाशाय समुत्पन्नं महाघोरं महास्वनम् ॥५-६०-१२॥

(The rain god provides abundant rain for the subjects, O king. All the subjects are righteous, and there are no calamities for me.)

aśvināvatha vāyvagnī marudbhiḥ saha vṛtrahā। dharmaścaiva mayā dviṣṭānnotsahante'bhirakṣitum ॥5-60-18॥

(The Ashvins, then Vayu and Agni, together with the Maruts, the slayer of Vritra, and dharma indeed by me, are not able to protect those who are hated.)

यदि ह्येते समर्थाः स्युर्मद्द्विषस्त्रातुमोजसा। न स्म त्रयोदश समाः पार्था दुःखमवाप्नुयुः ॥५-६०-१९॥
yadi hyete samarthāḥ syurmaddviṣastrātumojasā। na sma trayodaśa samāḥ pārthā duḥkhamavāpnuyuḥ ॥5-60-19॥
[यदि (yadi) - if; हि (hi) - indeed; एते (ete) - these; समर्थाः (samarthāḥ) - capable; स्युः (syuḥ) - would be; मत् (mat) - my; द्विषः (dviṣaḥ) - enemies; त्रातुम् (trātum) - to protect; ओजसा (ojasā) - with strength; न (na) - not; स्म (sma) - indeed; त्रयोदश (trayodaśa) - thirteen; समाः (samāḥ) - years; पार्थाः (pārthāḥ) - Pārthas; दुःखम् (duḥkham) - suffering; अवाप्नुयुः (avāpnuyuḥ) - would have obtained;]
(If indeed these were capable of protecting my enemies with strength, the Pārthas would not have suffered for thirteen years.)

नैव देवा न गन्धर्वा नासुरा न च राक्षसाः। शक्तास्त्रातुं मया द्विष्टं सत्यमेतद्ब्रवीमि ते ॥५-६०-२०॥

भविष्यतीदमिति वा यद्ब्रवीमि परन्तप। नान्यथा भूतपूर्वं तत्सत्यवागिति मां विदुः ॥५-६०-२२॥

लोकसाक्षिकमेतन्मे माहात्म्यं दिक्षु विश्रुतम्। आश्वासनार्थं भवतः प्रोक्तं न श्लाघया नृप ॥५-६०-२३॥
lokasākṣikametanme māhātmyaṃ dikṣu viśrutam। āśvāsanārthaṃ bhavataḥ proktaṃ na ślāghayā nṛpa ॥5-60-23॥

न ह्यहं श्लाघनो राजन्भूतपूर्वः कदाचन। असदाचरितं ह्येतद्यदात्मानं प्रशंसति ॥५-६०-२४॥
na hyahaṁ ślāghano rājanbhūtapūrvaḥ kadācana। asadācaritaṁ hyetadyadātmānaṁ praśaṁsati ॥5-60-24॥

पाण्डवांश्चैव मत्स्यांश्च पाञ्चालान्केकयैः सह। सात्यकिं वासुदेवं च श्रोतासि विजितान्मया ॥५-६०-२५॥
pāṇḍavāṃścaiva matsyāṃśca pāñcālānkekayaiḥ saha। sātyakiṃ vāsudevaṃ ca śrotāsi vijitānmaya ॥5-60-25॥

सरितः सागरं प्राप्य यथा नश्यन्ति सर्वशः। तथैव ते विनङ्क्ष्यन्ति मामासाद्य सहान्वयाः ॥५-६०-२६॥
saritaḥ sāgaraṃ prāpya yathā naśyanti sarvaśaḥ। tathaiva te vinaṅkṣyanti māmāsādya sahānvayāḥ ॥5-60-26॥
[सरितः (saritaḥ) - rivers; सागरं (sāgaram) - ocean; प्राप्य (prāpya) - having reached; यथा (yathā) - as; नश्यन्ति (naśyanti) - perish; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - completely; तथैव (tathaiva) - in the same way; ते (te) - they; विनङ्क्ष्यन्ति (vinaṅkṣyanti) - will perish; माम् (mām) - me; आसाद्य (āsādya) - having reached; सहान्वयाः (sahānvayāḥ) - with their followers;]
(Rivers, having reached the ocean, completely perish; in the same way, they will perish, having reached me, with their followers.)
Just as rivers completely disappear upon reaching the ocean, they too, along with their followers, will meet their end upon reaching me.
परा बुद्धिः परं तेजो वीर्यं च परमं मयि। परा विद्या परो योगो मम तेभ्यो विशिष्यते ॥५-६०-२७॥
parā buddhiḥ paraṃ tejo vīryaṃ ca paramaṃ mayi। parā vidyā paro yogo mama tebhyo viśiṣyate ॥5-60-27॥
[परा (parā) - supreme; बुद्धिः (buddhiḥ) - intellect; परं (paraṃ) - supreme; तेजः (tejaḥ) - brilliance; वीर्यं (vīryaṃ) - strength; च (ca) - and; परमं (paramaṃ) - supreme; मयि (mayi) - in me; परा (parā) - supreme; विद्या (vidyā) - knowledge; परः (paraḥ) - supreme; योगः (yogaḥ) - yoga; मम (mama) - my; तेभ्यः (tebhyaḥ) - than them; विशिष्यते (viśiṣyate) - excels;]
(The supreme intellect, supreme brilliance, and supreme strength are in me. Supreme knowledge and supreme yoga of mine excel them.)

पितामहश्च द्रोणश्च कृपः शल्यः शलस्तथा। अस्त्रेषु यत्प्रजानन्ति सर्वं तन्मयि विद्यते ॥५-६०-२८॥
pitāmahaśca droṇaśca kṛpaḥ śalyaḥ śalastathā। astreṣu yatprajānanti sarvaṃ tanmayi vidyate ॥5-60-28॥
[पितामहः (pitāmahaḥ) - grandfather; च (ca) - and; द्रोणः (droṇaḥ) - Drona; च (ca) - and; कृपः (kṛpaḥ) - Kripa; शल्यः (śalyaḥ) - Shalya; शलः (śalaḥ) - Shala; तथा (tathā) - also; अस्त्रेषु (astreṣu) - in weapons; यत् (yat) - what; प्रजानन्ति (prajānanti) - they know; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; तत् (tat) - that; मयि (mayi) - in me; विद्यते (vidyate) - exists;]
(Grandfather and Drona and Kripa, Shalya, Shala also; what they know in weapons, all that exists in me.)
The knowledge of weapons that Grandfather, Drona, Kripa, Shalya, and Shala possess, all of it exists within me.
इत्युक्त्वा सञ्जयं भूयः पर्यपृच्छत भारत। ज्ञात्वा युयुत्सुः कार्याणि प्राप्तकालमरिंदम ॥५-६०-२९॥
ityuktvā sañjayaṃ bhūyaḥ paryapṛcchata bhārata। jñātvā yuyutsuḥ kāryāṇi prāptakālamariṃdama ॥5-60-29॥

(Thus, having spoken to Sañjaya again, O descendant of Bharata, knowing the duties at the appropriate time, O subduer of enemies.)
Having addressed Sañjaya once more, the descendant of Bharata, aware of the duties at the right time, O subduer of enemies, was eager to fight.
