एवमुक्त्वा महाप्राज्ञो धृतराष्ट्रः सुयोधनम्। पुनरेव महाभागः सञ्जयं पर्यपृच्छत ॥५-६४-१॥
evamuktvā mahāprājño dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ suyodhanam। punareva mahābhāgaḥ sañjayaṃ paryapṛcchata ॥5-64-1॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्त्वा (uktvā) - having spoken; महाप्राज्ञः (mahāprājñaḥ) - the wise one; धृतराष्ट्रः (dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ) - Dhritarashtra; सुयोधनम् (suyodhanam) - to Suyodhana; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; एव (eva) - indeed; महाभागः (mahābhāgaḥ) - the fortunate one; सञ्जयम् (sañjayam) - to Sanjaya; पर्यपृच्छत (paryapṛcchata) - asked;]
(Thus having spoken, the wise Dhritarashtra to Suyodhana, again indeed, the fortunate one, asked Sanjaya.)
After speaking thus, the wise Dhritarashtra addressed Suyodhana and once again, the fortunate one, questioned Sanjaya.
ब्रूहि सञ्जय यच्छेषं वासुदेवादनन्तरम्। यदर्जुन उवाच त्वां परं कौतूहलं हि मे ॥५-६४-२॥
brūhi sañjaya yaccheṣaṃ vāsudevād-anantaram। yad-arjuna uvāca tvāṃ paraṃ kautūhalaṃ hi me ॥5-64-2॥

(Speak, Sanjaya, what remains after Vasudeva; what Arjuna said to you is indeed my great curiosity.)
Sanjaya, please tell me what remains unsaid after Vasudeva's words; I am very curious about what Arjuna said to you.

Upon hearing the words of Vasudeva, Dhananjaya, the son of Kunti, who was invincible, spoke at that moment while listening to Vasudeva.
पितामहं शान्तनवं धृतराष्ट्रं च सञ्जय। द्रोणं कृपं च कर्णं च महाराजं च बाह्लिकम् ॥५-६४-४॥
pitāmahaṁ śāntanavaṁ dhṛtarāṣṭraṁ ca sañjaya। droṇaṁ kṛpaṁ ca karṇaṁ ca mahārājaṁ ca bāhlikam ॥5-64-4॥

विकर्णं चित्रसेनं च जयत्सेनं च पार्थिवम्। विन्दानुविन्दावावन्त्यौ दुर्मुखं चापि कौरवम् ॥५-६४-६॥
vikaṇaṃ citrasenaṃ ca jayatsenaṃ ca pārthivam। vindānuvindāvāvantyau durmukhaṃ cāpi kauravam ॥5-64-6॥

सैन्धवं दुःसहं चैव भूरिश्रवसमेव च। भगदत्तं च राजानं जलसन्धं च पार्थिवम् ॥५-६४-७॥

यथान्यायं कौशलं वन्दनं च; समागता मद्वचनेन वाच्याः। इदं ब्रूयाः सञ्जय राजमध्ये; सुयोधनं पापकृतां प्रधानम् ॥५-६४-९॥
yathānyāyaṃ kauśalaṃ vandanaṃ ca; samāgatā madvacanena vācyāḥ। idaṃ brūyāḥ sañjaya rājamadhye; suyodhanaṃ pāpakṛtāṃ pradhānam ॥5-64-9॥

(According to justice, skill, and salutation, those assembled should be addressed by my words. This you should say, Sanjaya, in the midst of the kings: Suyodhana, the chief of the wicked.)

अमर्षणं दुर्मतिं राजपुत्रं; पापात्मानं धार्तराष्ट्रं सुलुब्धम्। सर्वं ममैतद्वचनं समग्रं; सहामात्यं सञ्जय श्रावयेथाः ॥५-६४-१०॥
amarṣaṇaṃ durmatiṃ rājaputraṃ; pāpātmānaṃ dhārtarāṣṭraṃ sulubdham। sarvaṃ mamaitadvacanaṃ samagraṃ; sahāmātyaṃ sañjaya śrāvayethāḥ ॥5-64-10॥

(Intolerant, evil-minded prince; wicked soul, son of Dhritarashtra, greedy. All my this speech entire; with ministers, Sanjaya, you should convey.)

एवं प्रतिष्ठाप्य धनञ्जयो मां; ततोऽर्थवद्धर्मवच्चापि वाक्यम्। प्रोवाचेदं वासुदेवं समीक्ष्य; पार्थो धीमाँल्लोहितान्तायताक्षः ॥५-६४-११॥
evaṃ pratiṣṭhāpya dhanañjayo māṃ; tato'rthavaddharmavaccāpi vākyam। provācedaṃ vāsudevaṃ samīkṣya; pārtho dhīmāṁllohitāntāyatākṣaḥ ॥5-64-11॥

(Thus, having established me, Dhananjaya then spoke this meaningful and righteous speech to Vasudeva, having seen him; Partha, the wise one with long red eyes.)

यथा श्रुतं ते वदतो महात्मनो; मधुप्रवीरस्य वचः समाहितम्। तथैव वाच्यं भवता हि मद्वचः; समागतेषु क्षितिपेषु सर्वशः ॥५-६४-१२॥
yathā śrutaṃ te vadato mahātmano; madhupravīrasya vacaḥ samāhitam। tathaiva vācyaṃ bhavatā hi madvacaḥ; samāgateṣu kṣitipeṣu sarvaśaḥ ॥5-64-12॥
[यथा (yathā) - as; श्रुतं (śrutam) - heard; ते (te) - your; वदतो (vadato) - speaking; महात्मनो (mahātmanaḥ) - great soul; मधुप्रवीरस्य (madhupravīrasya) - of Madhu's hero; वचः (vacaḥ) - words; समाहितम् (samāhitam) - concentrated; तथैव (tathaiva) - in the same way; वाच्यं (vācyaṃ) - to be spoken; भवता (bhavatā) - by you; हि (hi) - indeed; मद्वचः (madvacaḥ) - my words; समागतेषु (samāgateṣu) - when assembled; क्षितिपेषु (kṣitipeṣu) - among the kings; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - everywhere;]
(As you have heard the words of the great soul, the hero of Madhu, concentrated, in the same way, indeed, my words are to be spoken by you when all the kings are assembled everywhere.)
Just as you have attentively listened to the words of the great soul, the hero of Madhu, in the same manner, you must convey my words when all the kings are gathered.
शराग्निधूमे रथनेमिनादिते; धनुःस्रुवेणास्त्रबलापहारिणा। यथा न होमः क्रियते महामृधे; तथा समेत्य प्रयतध्वमादृताः ॥५-६४-१३॥
śarāgnidhūme rathanemināditē; dhanuḥsruvēṇāstrabalāpahāriṇā. yathā na hōmaḥ kriyatē mahāmṛdhē; tathā samētya prayatadhvamādṛtāḥ ॥5-64-13॥
[शर (śara) - arrow; अग्नि (agni) - fire; धूमे (dhūme) - smoke; रथ (ratha) - chariot; नेमि (nemi) - wheel; नादिते (nāditē) - resounding; धनुः (dhanuḥ) - bow; स्रुवेण (sruvēṇa) - with ladle; अस्त्र (astra) - weapon; बल (bala) - strength; अपहारिणा (apahāriṇā) - taking away; यथा (yathā) - as; न (na) - not; होमः (hōmaḥ) - sacrifice; क्रियते (kriyatē) - is performed; महामृधे (mahāmṛdhē) - in great battle; तथा (tathā) - so; समेत्य (samētya) - having gathered; प्रयतध्वम् (prayatadhvam) - strive; आदृताः (ādṛtāḥ) - with respect;]
(In the smoke of arrows and fire, resounding with the wheels of chariots; with the bow as a ladle taking away the strength of weapons. As the sacrifice is not performed in great battle; so, having gathered, strive with respect.)
In the midst of the battle, where arrows and fire create smoke and the wheels of chariots resound, use your bow as a ladle to diminish the strength of the enemy's weapons. Just as a sacrifice is not performed in the heat of battle, gather yourselves and strive with respect.
न चेत्प्रयच्छध्वममित्रघातिनो; युधिष्ठिरस्यांशमभीप्सितं स्वकम्। नयामि वः स्वाश्वपदातिकुञ्जरा; न्दिशं पितॄणामशिवां शितैः शरैः ॥५-६४-१४॥
na cetprayacchadhvamamitraghātino; yudhiṣṭhirasyāṃśamabhīpsitaṃ svakam। nayāmi vaḥ svāśvapadātikuñjarā; ndiśaṃ pitṝṇāmaśivāṃ śitaiḥ śaraiḥ ॥5-64-14॥
[न (na) - not; चेत् (cet) - if; प्रयच्छध्वम् (prayacchadhvam) - you give; अमित्रघातिनः (amitraghātinaḥ) - enemy-killers; युधिष्ठिरस्य (yudhiṣṭhirasya) - of Yudhishthira; अंशम् (aṃśam) - share; अभीप्सितम् (abhīpsitam) - desired; स्वकम् (svakam) - own; नयामि (nayāmi) - I lead; वः (vaḥ) - your; स्व (sva) - own; अश्व (aśva) - horses; पदाति (padāti) - foot soldiers; कुञ्जरान् (kuñjarān) - elephants; दिशम् (diśam) - direction; पितॄणाम् (pitṝṇām) - of ancestors; अशिवाम् (aśivām) - inauspicious; शितैः (śitaiḥ) - sharp; शरैः (śaraiḥ) - arrows;]
(If you do not give the enemy-killers the share of Yudhishthira that is desired, I will lead your own horses, foot soldiers, and elephants to the inauspicious direction of the ancestors with sharp arrows.)
If you do not give Yudhishthira his rightful share, which is desired, I will lead your forces, including horses, foot soldiers, and elephants, to the inauspicious realm of the ancestors with sharp arrows.
ततोऽहमामन्त्र्य चतुर्भुजं हरिं; धनञ्जयं चैव नमस्य सत्वरः। जवेन सम्प्राप्त इहामरद्युते; तवान्तिकं प्रापयितुं वचो महत् ॥५-६४-१५॥
tato'ham āmantrya caturbhujaṃ hariṃ; dhanañjayaṃ caiva namasya satvaraḥ। javena samprāpta ihāmaradyute; tavāntikaṃ prāpayituṃ vaco mahat ॥5-64-15॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; अहम् (aham) - I; आमन्त्र्य (āmantrya) - having addressed; चतुर्भुजम् (caturbhujam) - four-armed; हरिम् (harim) - Hari; धनञ्जयम् (dhanañjayam) - Dhananjaya; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; नमस्य (namasya) - having saluted; सत्वरः (satvaraḥ) - quickly; जवेन (javena) - swiftly; सम्प्राप्तः (samprāptaḥ) - arrived; इह (iha) - here; अमरद्युते (amaradyute) - O divine one; तव (tava) - your; अन्तिकम् (antikam) - presence; प्रापयितुम् (prāpayitum) - to convey; वचः (vacaḥ) - message; महत् (mahat) - great;]
(Then I, having addressed the four-armed Hari and having saluted Dhananjaya, quickly arrived here, O divine one, to convey your great message.)
Then, after addressing the four-armed Hari and saluting Dhananjaya, I swiftly came here, O divine one, to deliver your important message.
