Sanjaya said:
arjuno vāsudevaśca dhanvinau paramārcitau। kāmādanyatra sambhūtau sarvābhāvāya saṃmitau ॥5-66-1॥
Arjuna and Vasudeva, both highly revered archers, were born elsewhere due to desire and are united for the destruction of all.
dyāmantaraṃ samāsthāya yathāyuktaṃ manasvinaḥ। cakraṃ tadvāsudevasya māyayā vartate vibho ॥5-66-2॥
In the sky, the wise have appropriately established that the wheel of Vāsudeva exists by illusion, O Lord.
sāpahṇavaṃ pāṇḍaveṣu pāṇḍavānāṃ susaṃmatam। sārāsārabalaṃ jñātvā tatsamāsena me śṛṇu ॥5-66-3॥
Listen to the brief account of the strengths and weaknesses, highly esteemed among the Pandavas, with concealment, as known by the Pandavas.
narakaṁ śambaraṁ caiva kaṁsaṁ caidyaṁ ca mādhavaḥ। jitavānghorasaṅkāśānkṛīḍanniva janārdanaḥ ॥5-66-4॥
Mādhava, also known as Janārdana, effortlessly defeated the formidable foes Naraka, Śambara, Kaṁsa, and Caidya, as if it were a mere game.
pṛthivīṃ cāntarikṣaṃ ca dyāṃ caiva puruṣottamaḥ। manasaiva viśiṣṭātmā nayatyātmavaśaṃ vaśī ॥5-66-5॥
The Supreme Person, who is the distinguished soul and controller, governs the earth, sky, and heaven by mind alone, bringing them under his control.
bhūyo bhūyo hi yadrājanpṛcchase pāṇḍavānprati। sārāsārabalaṃ jñātuṃ tanme nigadataḥ śṛṇu ॥5-66-6॥
O king, as you repeatedly inquire about the strengths and weaknesses of the Pāṇḍavas, listen to my words to understand them.
ekato vā jagatkṛtsnamekato vā janārdanaḥ। sārato jagataḥ kṛtsnādatiṛkto janārdanaḥ ॥5-66-7॥
On one side stands the entire universe, and on the other, Janardana. In essence, Janardana transcends the entire universe.
bhasma kuryāj jagad idaṃ manasaiva janārdanaḥ। na tu kṛtsnaṃ jagac chaktaṃ bhasma kartuṃ janārdanam ॥5-66-8॥
Janardana can effortlessly turn the world into ashes with just his mind, but the entire world together cannot turn Janardana into ashes.
yataḥ satyaṃ yato dharmo yato hrīrārjavaṃ yataḥ। tato bhavati govindo yataḥ kṛṣṇastato jayaḥ ॥5-66-9॥
Wherever there is truth, righteousness, modesty, and straightforwardness, there is Govinda; wherever there is Krishna, there is victory.
pṛthivīṃ cāntarikṣaṃ ca divaṃ ca puruṣottamaḥ। viceṣṭayati bhūtātmā krīḍanniva janārdanaḥ ॥5-66-10॥
Janardana, the Supreme Person, playfully animates the earth, sky, and heaven, being the soul of all beings.
sa kṛtvā pāṇḍavānsatraṃ lokaṃ saṃmohayanniva। adharmaniratānmūḍhāndagdhumicchati te sutān ॥5-66-11॥
He performed the sacrifice for the Pandavas, seemingly deluding the world, and now desires to destroy your sons, who are engaged in unrighteousness and are fools.
kālacakraṁ jagaccakraṁ yugacakraṁ ca keśavaḥ। ātmayogena bhagavānparivartayate'niśam ॥5-66-12॥
Keshava, the Lord, through his self-union, continuously turns the wheels of time, the world, and ages.
kālasya ca hi mṛtyośca jaṅgamasthāvarasya ca। īśate bhagavānekaḥ satyametadbravīmi te ॥5-66-13॥
The one Lord indeed rules over time, death, and all that is moving and non-moving. This is the truth I tell you.
īśannapi mahāyogī sarvasya jagato hariḥ। karmāṇyārabhate kartuṃ kīnāśa iva durbalaḥ ॥5-66-14॥
Despite being the supreme controller and a great yogi, Hari, the lord of the universe, undertakes actions like a weak farmer.
tena vañcayate lokānmāyāyogena keśavaḥ। ye tameva prapadyante na te muhyanti mānavāḥ ॥5-66-15॥
Keśava deceives the people through his power of illusion. However, those who surrender to him are not deluded.
