समागतस्य रामेण पुनरेवातिदारुणम्। अन्येद्युस्तुमुलं युद्धं तदा भरतसत्तम ॥५-१८२-१॥
samāgatasya rāmeṇa punarevātidāruṇam। anyedyustumulaṃ yuddhaṃ tadā bharatasattama ॥5-182-1॥

(Those weapons, O Bhārata, I scattered with counteractions and weapons in the tumultuous battle, having abandoned lives very difficult to give up.)
O Bhārata, I countered those weapons with my own in the fierce battle, sacrificing lives that were very hard to forsake.
अस्त्रैरस्त्रेषु बहुधा हतेष्वथ च भार्गवः। अक्रुध्यत महातेजास्त्यक्तप्राणः स संयुगे ॥५-१८२-४॥

ततः शक्तिं प्राहिणोद्घोररूपा; मस्त्रै रुद्धो जामदग्न्यो महात्मा। कालोत्सृष्टां प्रज्वलितामिवोल्कां; संदीप्ताग्रां तेजसावृत्य लोकान् ॥५-१८२-५॥

(Then the great soul, son of Jamadagni, restrained by weapons, sent a weapon of terrible form, released by time, blazing like a meteor, with a blazing tip, covering the worlds with brilliance.)

(In that broken state, then Rama, inflamed with anger, sent twelve other terrible arrows. O Bharata, the form of those is not possible to describe due to brilliance and lightness.)

(What indeed am I confused having seen? From all directions, all those great meteors like fire, of various forms, blazing with fierce energy, as twelve suns at the end of the world.)

(Then another great soul, descendant of Jamadagni, threw terrible powers, golden rods adorned and bound with golden plates, as blazing meteors, so were they.)

(As Rama was pierced by a shower of arrows, so also I am greatly and deeply wounded. Then the battle ceased in the afternoon, as the sun was seeking the mountain for setting.)
