मदनुग्रहाय परमं गुह्यमध्यात्मसञ्ज्ञितम्। यत्त्वयोक्तं वचस्तेन मोहोऽयं विगतो मम ॥६-३३-१॥
madanugrahāya paramaṃ guhyamadhyātmasañjñitam। yattvayoktaṃ vacastena moho'yaṃ vigato mama ॥6-33-1॥
[मदनुग्रहाय (madanugrahāya) - for my favor; परमं (paramaṃ) - supreme; गुह्यम् (guhyam) - secret; अध्यात्मसञ्ज्ञितम् (adhyātmasaṃjñitam) - known as spiritual knowledge; यत् (yat) - which; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; उक्तम् (uktam) - spoken; वचः (vacaḥ) - words; तेन (tena) - by that; मोहः (mohaḥ) - delusion; अयम् (ayam) - this; विगतः (vigataḥ) - dispelled; मम (mama) - my;]
(For my favor, the supreme secret known as spiritual knowledge, which was spoken by you, by those words, this delusion of mine is dispelled.)
The supreme secret of spiritual knowledge, spoken by you for my benefit, has dispelled my delusion.
भवाप्ययौ हि भूतानां श्रुतौ विस्तरशो मया। त्वत्तः कमलपत्राक्ष माहात्म्यमपि चाव्ययम् ॥६-३३-२॥
bhavāpyayau hi bhūtānāṃ śrutau vistaraśo mayā। tvattaḥ kamalapatrākṣa māhātmyamapi cāvyayam ॥6-33-2॥
[भवाप्ययौ (bhavāpyayau) - creation and dissolution; हि (hi) - indeed; भूतानां (bhūtānāṃ) - of beings; श्रुतौ (śrutau) - heard; विस्तरशः (vistaraśaḥ) - in detail; मया (mayā) - by me; त्वत्तः (tvattaḥ) - from you; कमलपत्राक्ष (kamalapatrākṣa) - O lotus-eyed one; माहात्म्यम् (māhātmyam) - glory; अपि (api) - also; च (ca) - and; अव्ययम् (avyayam) - eternal;]
(Creation and dissolution of beings have indeed been heard in detail by me from you, O lotus-eyed one, and also the eternal glory.)
I have heard from you in detail about the creation and dissolution of beings, O lotus-eyed one, and also about your eternal glory.
एवमेतद्यथात्थ त्वमात्मानं परमेश्वर। द्रष्टुमिच्छामि ते रूपमैश्वरं पुरुषोत्तम ॥६-३३-३॥
evam etad yathāttha tvam ātmānaṃ parameśvara। draṣṭum icchāmi te rūpam aiśvaraṃ puruṣottama ॥6-33-3॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; एतत् (etat) - this; यथा (yathā) - as; अत्थ (attha) - you have spoken; त्वम् (tvam) - you; आत्मानम् (ātmānam) - self; परमेश्वर (parameśvara) - O Supreme Lord; द्रष्टुम् (draṣṭum) - to see; इच्छामि (icchāmi) - I wish; ते (te) - your; रूपम् (rūpam) - form; ऐश्वरम् (aiśvaram) - divine; पुरुषोत्तम (puruṣottama) - O Supreme Person;]
(Thus, as you have spoken, O Supreme Lord, I wish to see your divine form, O Supreme Person.)
O Supreme Lord, as you have described yourself, I desire to see your divine form, O Supreme Person.
मन्यसे यदि तच्छक्यं मया द्रष्टुमिति प्रभो। योगेश्वर ततो मे त्वं दर्शयात्मानमव्ययम् ॥६-३३-४॥
manyase yadi tacchakyaṁ mayā draṣṭumiti prabho। yogeśvara tato me tvaṁ darśayātmānamavyayam ॥6-33-4॥
[मन्यसे (manyase) - you think; यदि (yadi) - if; तत् (tat) - that; शक्यम् (śakyam) - possible; मया (mayā) - by me; द्रष्टुम् (draṣṭum) - to see; इति (iti) - thus; प्रभो (prabho) - O Lord; योगेश्वर (yogeśvara) - O master of yoga; ततः (tataḥ) - then; मे (me) - me; त्वम् (tvam) - you; दर्शय (darśaya) - show; आत्मानम् (ātmānam) - self; अव्ययम् (avyayam) - imperishable;]
(If you think that it is possible for me to see, O Lord, then, O master of yoga, show me your imperishable self.)
If you believe it is possible for me to see that, O Lord, then please, O master of yoga, reveal to me your eternal self.
श्रीभगवानुवाच॥

The Blessed Lord said:
पश्य मे पार्थ रूपाणि शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः। नानाविधानि दिव्यानि नानावर्णाकृतीनि च ॥६-३३-५॥
paśya me pārtha rūpāṇi śataśo'tha sahasraśaḥ। nānāvidhāni divyāni nānāvarṇākṛtīni ca ॥6-33-5॥
[पश्य (paśya) - behold; मे (me) - my; पार्थ (pārtha) - O son of Pṛthā; रूपाणि (rūpāṇi) - forms; शतशः (śataśaḥ) - hundreds; अथ (atha) - and; सहस्रशः (sahasraśaḥ) - thousands; नानाविधानि (nānāvidhāni) - various kinds; दिव्यानि (divyāni) - divine; नानावर्णाकृतीनि (nānāvarṇākṛtīni) - various colors and shapes; च (ca) - and;]
(Behold my forms, O son of Pṛthā, in hundreds and thousands, various kinds, divine, and of various colors and shapes.)
"O Arjuna, behold my divine forms in hundreds and thousands, of various kinds and colors."
पश्यादित्यान्वसून्रुद्रानश्विनौ मरुतस्तथा। बहून्यदृष्टपूर्वाणि पश्याश्चर्याणि भारत ॥६-३३-६॥
paśyādityānvasūnrudrānaśvinau marutastathā। bahūnyadṛṣṭapūrvāṇi paśyāścaryāṇi bhārata ॥6-33-6॥
[पश्य (paśya) - see; आदित्यान् (ādityān) - the Ādityas; वसून् (vasūn) - the Vasus; रुद्रान् (rudrān) - the Rudras; अश्विनौ (aśvinau) - the Aśvins; मरुतः (marutaḥ) - the Maruts; तथा (tathā) - as well; बहूनि (bahūni) - many; अदृष्टपूर्वाणि (adṛṣṭapūrvāṇi) - never seen before; पश्य (paśya) - see; आश्चर्याणि (āścaryāṇi) - wonders; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata;]
(See the Ādityas, the Vasus, the Rudras, the Aśvins, and the Maruts as well; see many wonders never seen before, O Bhārata.)
Behold, O Bhārata, the Ādityas, the Vasus, the Rudras, the Aśvins, and the Maruts, along with many wonders that have never been seen before.
इहैकस्थं जगत्कृत्स्नं पश्याद्य सचराचरम्। मम देहे गुडाकेश यच्चान्यद्द्रष्टुमिच्छसि ॥६-३३-७॥
ihaikasthaṁ jagatkṛtsnaṁ paśyādya sacarācaram। mama dehe guḍākeśa yaccānyaddraṣṭumicchasi ॥6-33-7॥
[इह (iha) - here; एकस्थं (ekasthaṁ) - in one place; जगत् (jagat) - world; कृत्स्नं (kṛtsnaṁ) - entire; पश्य (paśya) - see; अद्य (adya) - today; सचराचरम् (sacarācaram) - with moving and non-moving; मम (mama) - my; देहे (dehe) - in body; गुडाकेश (guḍākeśa) - O Gudakesha; यत् (yat) - that; च (ca) - and; अन्यत् (anyat) - other; द्रष्टुम् (draṣṭum) - to see; इच्छसि (icchasi) - you wish;]
(Here in one place, see today the entire world with moving and non-moving, in my body, O Gudakesha, and whatever else you wish to see.)
O Gudakesha, behold today the entire universe, with all its moving and non-moving entities, assembled together in one place within my body, and also see whatever else you wish to see.
न तु मां शक्यसे द्रष्टुमनेनैव स्वचक्षुषा। दिव्यं ददामि ते चक्षुः पश्य मे योगमैश्वरम् ॥६-३३-८॥
na tu māṃ śakyase draṣṭumanenaiva svacakṣuṣā। divyaṃ dadāmi te cakṣuḥ paśya me yogamaiśvaram ॥6-33-8॥
[न (na) - not; तु (tu) - but; मां (māṃ) - me; शक्यसे (śakyase) - can see; द्रष्टुम् (draṣṭum) - to see; अनेन (anena) - by this; एव (eva) - indeed; स्वचक्षुषा (svacakṣuṣā) - with own eyes; दिव्यं (divyaṃ) - divine; ददामि (dadāmi) - I give; ते (te) - to you; चक्षुः (cakṣuḥ) - eyes; पश्य (paśya) - see; मे (me) - my; योगम् (yogam) - yoga; ऐश्वरम् (aiśvaram) - divine power;]
(But you cannot see me with your own eyes; I give you divine eyes, behold my divine power.)
"But you cannot see me with your own eyes. Therefore, I give you divine vision; behold my majestic power."

एवमुक्त्वा ततो राजन्महायोगेश्वरो हरिः। दर्शयामास पार्थाय परमं रूपमैश्वरम् ॥६-३३-९॥
evamuktvā tato rājanmahāyogeśvaro hariḥ। darśayāmāsa pārthāya paramaṃ rūpamaiśvaram ॥6-33-9॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्त्वा (uktvā) - having spoken; ततः (tataḥ) - then; राजन् (rājan) - O King; महायोगेश्वरः (mahāyogeśvaraḥ) - the great lord of yoga; हरिः (hariḥ) - Hari; दर्शयामास (darśayāmāsa) - showed; पार्थाय (pārthāya) - to Arjuna; परमम् (paramam) - supreme; रूपम् (rūpam) - form; ऐश्वरम् (aiśvaram) - divine;]
(Thus having spoken, then, O King, the great lord of yoga, Hari, showed to Arjuna the supreme divine form.)
After speaking thus, O King, the great lord of yoga, Hari, revealed to Arjuna his supreme divine form.
अनेकवक्त्रनयनमनेकाद्भुतदर्शनम्। अनेकदिव्याभरणं दिव्यानेकोद्यतायुधम् ॥६-३३-१०॥
anekavaktranayanamanekādbhutadarśanam। anekadivyābharaṇaṃ divyānekodyatāyudham ॥6-33-10॥
[अनेक (aneka) - many; वक्त्र (vaktra) - faces; नयनम् (nayanam) - eyes; अनेक (aneka) - many; अद्भुत (adbhuta) - wonderful; दर्शनम् (darśanam) - sights; अनेक (aneka) - many; दिव्य (divya) - divine; आभरणम् (ābharaṇam) - ornaments; दिव्य (divya) - divine; अनेक (aneka) - many; उद्यत (udyata) - upraised; आयुधम् (āyudham) - weapons;]
(Many faces and eyes, many wonderful sights; many divine ornaments, many divine upraised weapons.)
The form with many faces and eyes, displaying many wonderful sights, adorned with many divine ornaments and wielding many divine weapons.
दिव्यमाल्याम्बरधरं दिव्यगन्धानुलेपनम्। सर्वाश्चर्यमयं देवमनन्तं विश्वतोमुखम् ॥६-३३-११॥
divyamālyāmbaradharaṃ divyagandhānulepanam। sarvāścaryamayaṃ devamanantaṃ viśvatomukham ॥6-33-11॥
[दिव्य (divya) - divine; माल्य (mālya) - garland; अम्बर (ambara) - clothing; धरं (dharaṃ) - wearing; दिव्य (divya) - divine; गन्ध (gandha) - fragrance; अनुलेपनम् (anulepanam) - anointment; सर्व (sarva) - all; आश्चर्य (āścarya) - wonderful; मयं (mayaṃ) - consisting of; देव (deva) - god; अनन्तं (anantaṃ) - infinite; विश्वतः (viśvataḥ) - facing all directions; मुखम् (mukham) - face;]
(Wearing divine garlands and clothing, anointed with divine fragrance; the god, infinite and wonderful, facing all directions.)
The god, adorned with divine garlands and garments, anointed with celestial fragrance, is infinite and faces all directions, embodying all wonders.
दिवि सूर्यसहस्रस्य भवेद्युगपदुत्थिता। यदि भाः सदृशी सा स्याद्भासस्तस्य महात्मनः ॥६-३३-१२॥
divi sūryasahasrasya bhavedyugapadutthitā। yadi bhāḥ sadṛśī sā syādbhāsastasya mahātmanaḥ ॥6-33-12॥
[दिवि (divi) - in the sky; सूर्य (sūrya) - sun; सहस्रस्य (sahasrasya) - of a thousand; भवेत् (bhavet) - were; युगपद् (yugapad) - simultaneously; उत्थिता (utthitā) - arisen; यदि (yadi) - if; भाः (bhāḥ) - light; सदृशी (sadṛśī) - like; सा (sā) - that; स्यात् (syāt) - would be; भासः (bhāsaḥ) - splendor; तस्य (tasya) - of him; महात्मनः (mahātmanaḥ) - of the great soul;]
(In the sky, if the light of a thousand suns were to arise simultaneously, that would be like the splendor of that great soul.)
If a thousand suns were to rise at once in the sky, their light might resemble the splendor of that great soul.
तत्रैकस्थं जगत्कृत्स्नं प्रविभक्तमनेकधा। अपश्यद्देवदेवस्य शरीरे पाण्डवस्तदा ॥६-३३-१३॥
tatraikasthaṁ jagatkṛtsnaṁ pravibhaktamanekadhā। apaśyaddevadevasya śarīre pāṇḍavastadā ॥6-33-13॥
[तत्र (tatra) - there; एकस्थं (ekasthaṁ) - in one place; जगत् (jagat) - the universe; कृत्स्नं (kṛtsnaṁ) - entire; प्रविभक्तम् (pravibhaktam) - divided; अनेकधा (anekadhā) - in many ways; अपश्यत् (apaśyat) - saw; देवदेवस्य (devadevasya) - of the God of gods; शरीरे (śarīre) - in the body; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the son of Pandu; तदा (tadā) - then;]
(There, in one place, the entire universe, divided in many ways, was seen in the body of the God of gods by the son of Pandu, then.)
Then, the son of Pandu saw the entire universe, with its manifold divisions, gathered together in one place, within the body of the God of gods.
ततः स विस्मयाविष्टो हृष्टरोमा धनञ्जयः। प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं कृताञ्जलिरभाषत ॥६-३३-१४॥
tataḥ sa vismayāviṣṭo hṛṣṭaromā dhanañjayaḥ। praṇamya śirasā devaṃ kṛtāñjalirabhāṣata ॥6-33-14॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; सः (saḥ) - he; विस्मयाविष्टः (vismayāviṣṭaḥ) - filled with wonder; हृष्टरोमाः (hṛṣṭaromāḥ) - with hair standing on end; धनञ्जयः (dhanañjayaḥ) - Arjuna; प्रणम्य (praṇamya) - having bowed; शिरसा (śirasā) - with his head; देवम् (devam) - to the Lord; कृताञ्जलिः (kṛtāñjaliḥ) - with folded hands; अभाषत (abhāṣata) - spoke;]
(Then, filled with wonder and with hair standing on end, Arjuna, having bowed with his head to the Lord and with folded hands, spoke:)

पश्यामि देवांस्तव देव देहे; सर्वांस्तथा भूतविशेषसङ्घान्। ब्रह्माणमीशं कमलासनस्थ; मृषींश्च सर्वानुरगांश्च दिव्यान् ॥६-३३-१५॥
paśyāmi devāṁstava deva dehe; sarvāṁstathā bhūtaviśeṣasaṅghān। brahmāṇamīśaṁ kamalāsanastha; mṛṣīṁśca sarvānuragāṁśca divyān ॥6-33-15॥
[पश्यामि (paśyāmi) - I see; देवान् (devān) - gods; तव (tava) - your; देव (deva) - O God; देहे (dehe) - in the body; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; तथा (tathā) - also; भूतविशेषसङ्घान् (bhūtaviśeṣasaṅghān) - assemblies of various beings; ब्रह्माणम् (brahmāṇam) - Brahma; ईशम् (īśam) - the Lord; कमलासनस्थ (kamalāsanastha) - seated on a lotus; मृषीन् (mṛṣīn) - sages; च (ca) - and; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; उरगान् (uragān) - serpents; च (ca) - and; दिव्यान् (divyān) - divine;]
(I see the gods, O God, in your body; also all the assemblies of various beings. Brahma, the Lord, seated on a lotus; and all the sages and divine serpents.)
In your body, O God, I behold the gods, all the distinct groups of beings, Brahma, the Lord seated on a lotus, and all the sages and divine serpents.
अनेकबाहूदरवक्त्रनेत्रं; पश्यामि त्वा सर्वतोऽनन्तरूपम्। नान्तं न मध्यं न पुनस्तवादिं; पश्यामि विश्वेश्वर विश्वरूप ॥६-३३-१६॥
anekabāhūdaravaktranetraṁ; paśyāmi tvā sarvato'nantarūpam। nāntaṁ na madhyaṁ na punastavādiṁ; paśyāmi viśveśvara viśvarūpa ॥6-33-16॥
[अनेक (aneka) - many; बाहु (bāhu) - arms; उदर (udara) - bellies; वक्त्र (vaktra) - faces; नेत्रं (netraṁ) - eyes; पश्यामि (paśyāmi) - I see; त्वा (tvā) - you; सर्वतः (sarvataḥ) - everywhere; अनन्त (ananta) - infinite; रूपम् (rūpam) - form; न (na) - not; अन्तं (antaṁ) - end; न (na) - not; मध्यं (madhyaṁ) - middle; न (na) - not; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; तव (tava) - your; आदिं (ādiṁ) - beginning; पश्यामि (paśyāmi) - I see; विश्वेश्वर (viśveśvara) - O Lord of the Universe; विश्व (viśva) - universal; रूप (rūpa) - form;]
(I see you with many arms, bellies, faces, and eyes; everywhere, your infinite form. I see no end, no middle, and no beginning of you; O Lord of the Universe, universal form.)
I behold you with countless arms, bellies, faces, and eyes; your infinite form is everywhere. I see neither your end, nor your middle, nor your beginning; O Lord of the Universe, you are the universal form.
किरीटिनं गदिनं चक्रिणं च; तेजोराशिं सर्वतो दीप्तिमन्तम्। पश्यामि त्वां दुर्निरीक्ष्यं समन्ता; द्दीप्तानलार्कद्युतिमप्रमेयम् ॥६-३३-१७॥
kirīṭinaṃ gadinaṃ cakriṇaṃ ca; tejorāśiṃ sarvato dīptimantam। paśyāmi tvāṃ durnirīkṣyaṃ samantā; ddīptānalārkadyutimaprameyam ॥6-33-17॥
[किरीटिनं (kirīṭinam) - crowned; गदिनं (gadinam) - with a mace; चक्रिणं (cakriṇam) - with a discus; च (ca) - and; तेजोराशिं (tejorāśim) - mass of splendor; सर्वतः (sarvataḥ) - on all sides; दीप्तिमन्तम् (dīptimantam) - radiant; पश्यामि (paśyāmi) - I see; त्वां (tvāṃ) - you; दुर्निरीक्ष्यम् (durnirīkṣyam) - difficult to behold; समन्तात् (samantāt) - all around; दीप्त (dīpta) - blazing; अनल (anala) - fire; अर्क (arka) - sun; द्युतिम् (dyutim) - brilliance; अप्रमेयम् (aprameyam) - immeasurable;]
(Crowned, with a mace and a discus; a mass of splendor, radiant on all sides. I see you, difficult to behold all around, blazing with the brilliance of fire and sun, immeasurable.)
I see you adorned with a crown, holding a mace and discus, a radiant mass of splendor on all sides. You are difficult to behold, blazing with the immeasurable brilliance of fire and sun, beyond comprehension.
त्वमक्षरं परमं वेदितव्यं; त्वमस्य विश्वस्य परं निधानम्। त्वमव्ययः शाश्वतधर्मगोप्ता; सनातनस्त्वं पुरुषो मतो मे ॥६-३३-१८॥
tvam akṣaraṃ paramaṃ veditavyaṃ; tvam asya viśvasya paraṃ nidhānam। tvam avyayaḥ śāśvata-dharma-goptā; sanātanas tvaṃ puruṣo mato me ॥6-33-18॥
[त्वम् (tvam) - you; अक्षरम् (akṣaram) - imperishable; परमम् (paramam) - supreme; वेदितव्यम् (veditavyam) - to be known; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अस्य (asya) - of this; विश्वस्य (viśvasya) - of the universe; परम् (param) - supreme; निधानम् (nidhānam) - abode; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अव्ययः (avyayaḥ) - immutable; शाश्वतधर्मगोप्ता (śāśvata-dharma-goptā) - protector of the eternal dharma; सनातनः (sanātanaḥ) - eternal; त्वम् (tvam) - you; पुरुषः (puruṣaḥ) - person; मतः (mataḥ) - considered; मे (me) - by me;]
(You are the imperishable, the supreme to be known; you are the supreme abode of this universe. You are the immutable, the protector of the eternal dharma; you are the eternal person considered by me.)
You are the imperishable and supreme entity to be known; the ultimate abode of the universe. You are immutable, the protector of eternal dharma, and the eternal being as I perceive you.
अनादिमध्यान्तमनन्तवीर्य; मनन्तबाहुं शशिसूर्यनेत्रम्। पश्यामि त्वां दीप्तहुताशवक्त्रं; स्वतेजसा विश्वमिदं तपन्तम् ॥६-३३-१९॥
anādimadhyāntamanantavīrya; manantabāhuṃ śaśisūryanetram। paśyāmi tvāṃ dīptahutāśavaktraṃ; svatejasā viśvamidaṃ tapantam ॥6-33-19॥
[अनादिमध्यान्तम् (anādimadhyāntam) - without beginning, middle, and end; अनन्तवीर्य (anantavīrya) - infinite in power; अनन्तबाहुं (anantabāhuṃ) - with infinite arms; शशिसूर्यनेत्रम् (śaśisūryanetram) - moon and sun as eyes; पश्यामि (paśyāmi) - I see; त्वां (tvāṃ) - you; दीप्तहुताशवक्त्रं (dīptahutāśavaktraṃ) - with blazing fire mouth; स्वतेजसा (svatejasā) - by your radiance; विश्वमिदं (viśvamidaṃ) - this universe; तपन्तम् (tapantam) - burning;]
(Without beginning, middle, and end, infinite in power, with infinite arms, moon and sun as eyes, I see you with a blazing fire mouth, by your radiance, this universe burning.)
I see you, who is without beginning, middle, and end, possessing infinite power and arms, with the moon and sun as your eyes, and a mouth blazing like fire, causing this universe to burn with your radiance.
द्यावापृथिव्योरिदमन्तरं हि; व्याप्तं त्वयैकेन दिशश्च सर्वाः। दृष्ट्वाद्भुतं रूपमिदं तवोग्रं; लोकत्रयं प्रव्यथितं महात्मन् ॥६-३३-२०॥
dyāvāpṛthivyoridamantaraṃ hi; vyāptaṃ tvayaikena diśaśca sarvāḥ। dṛṣṭvādbhutaṃ rūpamidaṃ tavograṃ; lokatrayaṃ pravyathitaṃ mahātman ॥6-33-20॥

kālo'smi lokakṣayakṛtpravṛddho; lokānsamāhartumiha pravṛttaḥ। ṛte'pi tvā na bhaviṣyanti sarve; ye'vasthitāḥ pratyanīkeṣu yodhāḥ ॥6-33-32॥

(Rightly, O Hrishikesha, by your glorification, the world rejoices and is enamored; demons, fearful, flee in all directions; all offer obeisances, and assemblies of perfected beings.)
O Hrishikesha, it is only appropriate that the world rejoices and is enamored by your glorification; the fearful demons flee in all directions, and all the assemblies of perfected beings offer their obeisances.
कस्माच्च ते न नमेरन्महात्म; न्गरीयसे ब्रह्मणोऽप्यादिकर्त्रे। अनन्त देवेश जगन्निवास; त्वमक्षरं सदसत्तत्परं यत् ॥६-३३-३७॥

(Thinking of you as a friend, whatever I rashly said, O Krishna, O Yadava, O friend, unknowingly of this greatness of yours, by me out of negligence or even out of affection.)
Considering you as a friend, I have rashly addressed you as 'O Krishna, O Yadava, O friend,' not knowing this greatness of yours, either out of negligence or affection.
यच्चावहासार्थमसत्कृतोऽसि; विहारशय्यासनभोजनेषु। एकोऽथ वाप्यच्युत तत्समक्षं; तत्क्षामये त्वामहमप्रमेयम् ॥६-३३-४२॥
yaccāvahāsārthamasatkṛto'si; vihāraśayyāsanabhojaneṣu। eko'tha vāpyacyuta tatsamakṣaṃ; tatkṣāmaye tvāmahamaprameyam ॥6-33-42॥

(Whatever disrespect was shown to you for fun, in relaxation, resting, sitting, or eating, whether alone or in front of others, O infallible one, for that I beg your pardon, O immeasurable one.)
O Krishna, whatever I have done in jest or disrespectfully, whether in relaxation, resting, sitting, or eating, whether alone or in front of others, I seek your forgiveness, O immeasurable one.
पितासि लोकस्य चराचरस्य; त्वमस्य पूज्यश्च गुरुर्गरीयान्। न त्वत्समोऽस्त्यभ्यधिकः कुतोऽन्यो; लोकत्रयेऽप्यप्रतिमप्रभाव ॥६-३३-४३॥
pitāsi lokasya carācarasya; tvamasya pūjyaśca gururgarīyān। na tvatsamo'styabhyadhikaḥ kuto'nyo; lokatraye'pyapratimaprabhāva ॥6-33-43॥
[पिता (pitā) - father; असि (asi) - are; लोकस्य (lokasya) - of the world; चराचरस्य (carācarasya) - of the moving and the non-moving; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अस्य (asya) - of this; पूज्यः (pūjyaḥ) - worthy of worship; च (ca) - and; गुरुः (guruḥ) - teacher; गरीयान् (garīyān) - greater; न (na) - not; त्वत्समः (tvatsamaḥ) - equal to you; अस्ति (asti) - is; अभ्यधिकः (abhyadhikaḥ) - superior; कुतः (kutaḥ) - from where; अन्यः (anyaḥ) - another; लोकत्रये (lokatraye) - in the three worlds; अपि (api) - even; अप्रतिमप्रभाव (apratimaprabhāva) - of unmatched power;]
(You are the father of the world, of the moving and the non-moving; you are the most worthy of worship and the greatest teacher. There is no one equal to you, nor superior; from where could there be another with unmatched power in the three worlds?)
You are the father of the entire universe, both animate and inanimate; you are the most revered and the greatest teacher. There is no one equal to you, nor superior; how could there be anyone else with such unparalleled power in all the three worlds?
तस्मात्प्रणम्य प्रणिधाय कायं; प्रसादये त्वामहमीशमीड्यम्। पितेव पुत्रस्य सखेव सख्युः; प्रियः प्रियायार्हसि देव सोढुम् ॥६-३३-४४॥

(Therefore, having bowed and placed my body, I seek to propitiate you, the Lord, worthy of worship. Like a father to a son, like a friend to a friend, dear to the dear, O Lord, you should forgive.)

अदृष्टपूर्वं हृषितोऽस्मि दृष्ट्वा; भयेन च प्रव्यथितं मनो मे। तदेव मे दर्शय देव रूपं; प्रसीद देवेश जगन्निवास ॥६-३३-४५॥

किरीटिनं गदिनं चक्रहस्त; मिच्छामि त्वां द्रष्टुमहं तथैव। तेनैव रूपेण चतुर्भुजेन; सहस्रबाहो भव विश्वमूर्ते ॥६-३३-४६॥

mayā prasannena tavārjunedaṃ; rūpaṃ paraṃ darśitamātmayogāt। tejomayaṃ viśvamanantamādyaṃ; yanme tvadanyena na dṛṣṭapūrvam ॥6-33-47॥

O Arjuna, being pleased with you, I have shown you this supreme form through my own yoga. It is full of splendor, universal, infinite, and primeval, a form that has not been seen by anyone other than you before.
न वेदयज्ञाध्ययनैर्न दानै; र्न च क्रियाभिर्न तपोभिरुग्रैः। एवंरूपः शक्य अहं नृलोके; द्रष्टुं त्वदन्येन कुरुप्रवीर ॥६-३३-४८॥

मा ते व्यथा मा च विमूढभावो; दृष्ट्वा रूपं घोरमीदृङ्ममेदम्। व्यपेतभीः प्रीतमनाः पुनस्त्वं; तदेव मे रूपमिदं प्रपश्य ॥६-३३-४९॥

(Do not be distressed, nor be bewildered; having seen this terrible form of mine. Free from fear and with a pleased mind, you behold again this form of mine.)

(Thus, having spoken to Arjuna, Vasudeva showed his own form again. And consoled the frightened one, becoming again a gentle form, the great soul.)
Thus, Vasudeva, after speaking to Arjuna, reverted to his original form and comforted the frightened Arjuna by assuming his gentle form once more.

dṛṣṭvedaṃ mānuṣaṃ rūpaṃ tava saumyaṃ janārdana। idānīmasmi saṃvṛttaḥ sacetāḥ prakṛtiṃ gataḥ ॥6-33-51॥
[दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; इदं (idaṃ) - this; मानुषं (mānuṣam) - human; रूपं (rūpam) - form; तव (tava) - your; सौम्यं (saumyam) - gentle; जनार्दन (janārdana) - Janardana; इदानीम् (idānīm) - now; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; संवृत्तः (saṃvṛttaḥ) - restored; सचेताः (sacetāḥ) - conscious; प्रकृतिं (prakṛtim) - nature; गतः (gataḥ) - gone to;]
(Having seen this human form of yours, O gentle Janardana, now I am restored to consciousness and have returned to my nature.)
Seeing your gentle human form, O Janardana, I am now restored to my senses and have returned to my natural state.
श्रीभगवानुवाच॥

[श्री (śrī) - auspicious; भगवान् (bhagavān) - the Lord; उवाच (uvāca) - said;]
(The auspicious Lord said:)
The Blessed Lord spoke:
सुदुर्दर्शमिदं रूपं दृष्टवानसि यन्मम। देवा अप्यस्य रूपस्य नित्यं दर्शनकाङ्क्षिणः ॥६-३३-५२॥
sudurdarśamidaṃ rūpaṃ dṛṣṭavānasi yanmama। devā apyasya rūpasya nityaṃ darśanakāṅkṣiṇaḥ ॥6-33-52॥
[सुदुर्दर्शम् (sudurdarśam) - very difficult to see; इदं (idaṃ) - this; रूपम् (rūpam) - form; दृष्टवानसि (dṛṣṭavānasi) - you have seen; यत् (yat) - which; मम (mama) - my; देवाः (devāḥ) - gods; अपि (api) - also; अस्य (asya) - of this; रूपस्य (rūpasya) - form; नित्यम् (nityam) - always; दर्शनकाङ्क्षिणः (darśanakāṅkṣiṇaḥ) - desiring to see;]
(This form of mine, which you have seen, is very difficult to see. Even the gods always desire to see this form.)
The form you have witnessed is exceedingly rare to behold. Even the gods eternally yearn to witness this form.
नाहं वेदैर्न तपसा न दानेन न चेज्यया। शक्य एवंविधो द्रष्टुं दृष्टवानसि मां यथा ॥६-३३-५३॥
nāhaṃ vedairna tapasā na dānena na cejyayā। śakya evaṃvidho draṣṭuṃ dṛṣṭavānasi māṃ yathā ॥6-33-53॥
[न (na) - not; अहम् (aham) - I; वेदैः (vedaiḥ) - by the Vedas; न (na) - not; तपसा (tapasā) - by austerity; न (na) - not; दानेन (dānena) - by charity; न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; इज्यया (ijyayā) - by sacrifice; शक्यः (śakyaḥ) - possible; एवंविधः (evaṃvidhaḥ) - in this form; द्रष्टुम् (draṣṭum) - to be seen; दृष्टवानसि (dṛṣṭavānasi) - you have seen; माम् (mām) - me; यथा (yathā) - as; ॥६-३३-५३॥ (॥6-33-53॥) - (verse 6-33-53);]
(Not by the Vedas, nor by austerity, nor by charity, nor by sacrifice, can I be seen in this form as you have seen me.)
I cannot be seen in this form through the Vedas, austerity, charity, or sacrifice, as you have seen me.
भक्त्या त्वनन्यया शक्य अहमेवंविधोऽर्जुन। ज्ञातुं द्रष्टुं च तत्त्वेन प्रवेष्टुं च परन्तप ॥६-३३-५४॥
bhaktyā tvananyayā śakya ahamevaṃvidho'rjuna। jñātuṃ draṣṭuṃ ca tattvena praveṣṭuṃ ca parantapa ॥6-33-54॥
[भक्त्या (bhaktyā) - by devotion; त्व (tva) - you; अनन्यया (ananyayā) - unwavering; शक्य (śakya) - possible; अहम् (aham) - I; एवंविधः (evaṃvidhaḥ) - in this form; अर्जुन (arjuna) - Arjuna; ज्ञातुम् (jñātum) - to know; द्रष्टुम् (draṣṭum) - to see; च (ca) - and; तत्त्वेन (tattvena) - truly; प्रवेष्टुम् (praveṣṭum) - to enter; च (ca) - and; परन्तप (parantapa) - O conqueror of enemies;]
(By devotion, you can know, see, and truly enter into Me in this form, O Arjuna, O conqueror of enemies.)
Through unwavering devotion, you, O Arjuna, can truly know, see, and enter into My essence, O conqueror of enemies.
मत्कर्मकृन्मत्परमो मद्भक्तः सङ्गवर्जितः। निर्वैरः सर्वभूतेषु यः स मामेति पाण्डव ॥६-३३-५५॥
matkarmakṛnmatparamo madbhaktaḥ saṅgavarjitaḥ। nirvairaḥ sarvabhūteṣu yaḥ sa māmeti pāṇḍava ॥6-33-55॥
[मत्कर्मकृत् (matkarmakṛt) - one who performs actions for Me; मत्परमः (matparamaḥ) - considering Me as the Supreme; मद्भक्तः (madbhaktaḥ) - My devotee; सङ्गवर्जितः (saṅgavarjitaḥ) - free from attachment; निर्वैरः (nirvairaḥ) - without malice; सर्वभूतेषु (sarvabhūteṣu) - towards all beings; यः (yaḥ) - who; सः (saḥ) - he; माम् (mām) - to Me; एति (eti) - comes; पाण्डव (pāṇḍava) - O son of Pāṇḍu;]
(One who performs actions for Me, considers Me as the Supreme, is My devotee, free from attachment, without malice towards all beings, he comes to Me, O son of Pāṇḍu.)
O son of Pāṇḍu, one who acts for Me, regards Me as the Supreme, is devoted to Me, free from attachments and without enmity towards all beings, he reaches Me.
