महीं गताः पार्थबलाभिभूता; विचित्ररूपा युगपद्विनेशुः। दृष्ट्वा हतांस्तान्युधि राजपुत्रां; स्त्रिगर्तराजः प्रययौ क्षणेन ॥६-८१-४॥

(Having gone to the earth, overcome by Arjuna's forces, of various forms, they disappeared simultaneously. Seeing those princes killed in battle, the king of the Trigartas departed in a moment.)
The forces, overwhelmed by Arjuna's might, vanished from the battlefield in various forms. Witnessing the slain princes, the king of the Trigartas quickly withdrew.
तेषां रथानामथ पृष्ठगोपा; द्वात्रिंशदन्येऽब्यपतन्त पार्थम्। तथैव ते सम्परिवार्य पार्थं; विकृष्य चापानि महारवाणि ॥ अवीवृषन्बाणमहौघवृष्ट्या; यथा गिरिं तोयधरा जलौघैः ॥६-८१-५॥

(Then, the rear guards of their chariots, thirty-two others, attacked Arjuna. In the same way, they surrounded Arjuna, drawing their great-sounding bows. They showered arrows like a great flood, as clouds with streams of water on a mountain.)

सम्पीड्यमानस्तु शरौघवृष्ट्या; धनञ्जयस्तान्युधि जातरोषः। षष्ट्या शरैः संयति तैलधौतै; र्जघान तानप्यथ पृष्ठगोपान् ॥६-८१-६॥

Arjuna, under a barrage of arrows and filled with rage, retaliated fiercely in the battle, using sixty oil-smeared arrows to strike down his enemies and their rear guards.
षष्टिं रथांस्तानवजित्य सङ्ख्ये; धनञ्जयः प्रीतमना यशस्वी। अथात्वरद्भीष्मवधाय जिष्णु; र्बलानि राज्ञां समरे निहत्य ॥६-८१-७॥

(Seeing Dhananjaya, the best among the wielders of weapons, attacked, those headed by Shikhandi, with sharp weapons in hand, advanced intending to protect Arjuna's chariot.)
Upon seeing Arjuna being attacked, Shikhandi and others, armed with sharp weapons, moved forward to protect his chariot.
पार्थोऽपि तानापततः समीक्ष्य; त्रिगर्तराज्ञा सहितान्नृवीरान्। विध्वंसयित्वा समरे धनुष्मा; न्गाण्डीवमुक्तैर्निशितैः पृषत्कैः ॥ भीष्मं यियासुर्युधि संददर्श; दुर्योधनं सैन्धवादींश्च राज्ञः ॥६-८१-१०॥
pārtho'pi tānāpatataḥ samīkṣya; trigartarājñā sahitānnṛvīrān। vidhvaṁsayitvā samare dhanuṣmā; ngaṇḍīvamuktairniśitaiḥ pṛṣatkaiḥ ॥ bhīṣmaṁ yiyāsuryudhi saṁdadarśa; duryodhanaṁ saindhavādīṁśca rājñaḥ ॥6-81-10॥

(Arjuna also, seeing them approaching, accompanied by the warriors of the Trigarta king, destroyed them in battle with sharp arrows released from the Gandiva. Desiring to go to Bhishma in battle, he saw Duryodhana and the kings of Sindhu and others.)
Arjuna, observing the approaching warriors led by the king of Trigarta, annihilated them in battle with his sharp arrows from the Gandiva. In his quest to reach Bhishma, he encountered Duryodhana and the Sindhu kings.
आवारयिष्णूनभिसम्प्रयाय; मुहूर्तमायोध्य बलेन वीरः। उत्सृज्य राजानमनन्तवीर्यो; जयद्रथादींश्च नृपान्महौजाः ॥ ययौ ततो भीमबलो मनस्वी; गाङ्गेयमाजौ शरचापपाणिः ॥६-८१-११॥

(Having approached those who obstruct, the hero fought for a moment with strength. Having left the king of infinite valor, Jayadratha and other kings of great energy, then the wise one of Bhima's strength went towards the son of Ganga in battle with arrow and bow.)
The hero, after confronting those who obstructed him, fought valiantly for a moment. Leaving behind the king of infinite valor, Jayadratha, and other mighty kings, the wise warrior with the strength of Bhima then advanced towards the son of Ganga, armed with his bow and arrows, ready for battle.
युधिष्ठिरश्चोग्रबलो महात्मा; समाययौ त्वरितो जातकोपः। मद्राधिपं समभित्यज्य सङ्ख्ये; स्वभागमाप्तं तमनन्तकीर्तिः ॥ सार्धं स माद्रीसुतभीमसेनै; र्भीष्मं ययौ शान्तनवं रणाय ॥६-८१-१२॥

(Yudhishthira, the mighty and great-souled, quickly arrived, angered, having abandoned the Madra king in battle; having obtained his share, he of endless fame, together with Madri's son Bhimasena, went to Bhishma, Santanu's son, for battle.)
Yudhishthira, known for his might and great soul, quickly arrived in anger, having left the Madra king in the battlefield. Having secured his share, the endlessly famed Yudhishthira, along with Bhimasena, the son of Madri, approached Bhishma, the son of Santanu, for battle.
तैः सम्प्रयुक्तः स महारथाग्र्यै; र्गङ्गासुतः समरे चित्रयोधी। न विव्यथे शान्तनवो महात्मा; समागतैः पाण्डुसुतैः समस्तैः ॥६-८१-१३॥
taiḥ samprayuktaḥ sa mahārathāgryai; rgaṅgāsutaḥ samare citrayodhī। na vivyathe śāntanavo mahātmā; samāgataiḥ pāṇḍusutaiḥ samastaiḥ ॥6-81-13॥

Engaged by the foremost warriors, the son of Ganga, a remarkable fighter, remained unshaken in battle, even when faced with all the assembled sons of Pandu, the great-souled son of Shantanu stood firm.
अथैत्य राजा युधि सत्यसन्धो; जयद्रथोऽत्युग्रबलो मनस्वी। चिच्छेद चापानि महारथानां; प्रसह्य तेषां धनुषा वरेण ॥६-८१-१४॥

(Then, having come, the king, truthful in battle, Jayadratha, very powerful and courageous, cut off the bows of the great charioteers forcibly with his excellent bow.)
Then, King Jayadratha, known for his truthfulness in battle, arrived with great power and courage, and forcibly cut off the bows of the great charioteers with his superior bow.

(Without thinking, the mighty Vrikodara, with mind overcome by anger, killed all the vehicles in battle, the Naraṭṭa-born of the king of Sindhu in the encounter.)

(Having abandoned your fierce son, fallen from the mace, all desiring to avoid retreated in the tumultuous conflict, very terrible, O Bharata, bewildering.)
All your warriors, O Bharata, retreated from the fierce battle, leaving your formidable son who had fallen by the mace, in the midst of the tumultuous and dreadful conflict, which was bewildering.

(Wonderful and of great magnitude, having seen that, O Bharata, all were delighted. They cried out together from all sides and worshipped your son with the army.)
