Then the king of Kosala, though without a chariot and armed with a sword and shield, sought to sever Arjuna's head adorned with earrings from his body.
स कोसलानां भर्तारं राजपुत्रं बृहद्बलम्। हृदि विव्याध बाणेन स भिन्नहृदयोऽपतत् ॥७-४६-२२॥

He shot an arrow into the heart of Brihadbala, the prince of the Kosalas, causing him to fall with a broken heart.
बभञ्ज च सहस्राणि दश राजन्महात्मनाम्। सृजतामशिवा वाचः खड्गकार्मुकधारिणाम् ॥७-४६-२३॥
babhañja ca sahasrāṇi daśa rājanmahātmanām। sṛjatāmaśivā vācaḥ khaḍgakārmukadhāriṇām ॥7-46-23॥

(And he broke thousands, ten O king, of great souls creating inauspicious words of the wielders of swords and bows.)
O king, he broke ten thousand great souls who were uttering inauspicious words, wielding swords and bows.
तथा बृहद्बलं हत्वा सौभद्रो व्यचरद्रणे। विष्टम्भयन्महेष्वासान्योधांस्तव शराम्बुभिः ॥७-४६-२४॥
tathā bṛhadbalaṃ hatvā saubhadro vyacaradraṇe। viṣṭambhayanmaheṣvāsānyodhāṃstava śarāmbubhiḥ ॥7-46-24॥

(Thus, having killed Brihadbala, the son of Subhadra moved in the battle, restraining your warriors, the great archers, with arrows.)
After slaying Brihadbala, Abhimanyu, the son of Subhadra, maneuvered through the battlefield, holding back your great archers with his arrows.
