(With happiness, the night passed, whether your knowledge, all, is clear, O Madhusudana, O Achyuta.)
O Madhusudana, O Achyuta, did the night pass happily for you? Is all your knowledge clear?

वासुदेवोऽपि तद्युक्तं पर्यपृच्छद्युधिष्ठिरम्। ततः क्षत्ता प्रकृतयो न्यवेदयदुपस्थिताः ॥७-५९-२॥
vāsudevo'pi tadyuktaṃ paryapṛcchadyudhiṣṭhiram। tataḥ kṣattā prakṛtayo nyavedayadupasthitāḥ ॥7-59-2॥

(Vasudeva also asked Yudhishthira, who was appropriately engaged. Then the minister informed that the subjects were present.)
Vasudeva, noticing Yudhishthira's appropriate engagement, inquired further. Then, the minister announced the presence of the subjects.
अनुज्ञातश्च राज्ञा स प्रावेशयत तं जनम्। विराटं भीमसेनं च धृष्टद्युम्नं च सात्यकिम् ॥७-५९-३॥
anujñātaśca rājñā sa prāveśayata taṃ janam। virāṭaṃ bhīmasenaṃ ca dhṛṣṭadyumnaṃ ca sātyakim ॥7-59-3॥

शिखण्डिनं यमौ चैव चेकितानं च केकयान्। युयुत्सुं चैव कौरव्यं पाञ्चाल्यं चोत्तमौजसम् ॥७-५९-४॥

एते चान्ये च बहवः क्षत्रियाः क्षत्रियर्षभम्। उपतस्थुर्महात्मानं विविशुश्चासनेषु ते ॥७-५९-५॥

त्वं हि राज्यविनाशं च द्विषद्भिश्च निराक्रियाम्। क्लेशांश्च विविधान्कृष्ण सर्वांस्तानपि वेत्थ नः ॥७-५९-९॥
tvaṁ hi rājyavināśaṁ ca dviṣadbhiśca nirākriyām। kleśāṁśca vividhānkṛṣṇa sarvāṁstānapi vettha naḥ ॥7-59-9॥

(You indeed know, O Krishna, the destruction of the kingdom, the removal by enemies, and various troubles, all of them ours.)
O Krishna, you are aware of the destruction of our kingdom, the removal caused by our enemies, and all the various troubles we face.
त्वयि सर्वेश सर्वेषामस्माकं भक्तवत्सल। सुखमायत्तमत्यर्थं यात्रा च मधुसूदन ॥७-५९-१०॥
tvayi sarveśa sarveṣāmasmākaṃ bhaktavatsala। sukhamāyattamatyarthaṃ yātrā ca madhusūdana ॥7-59-10॥

(In you, O Lord of all, our happiness is exceedingly dependent, and the journey, O lover of devotees, O slayer of Madhu.)
O Madhusudana, the journey and our happiness are exceedingly dependent on you, O Lord of all and lover of devotees.
स तथा कुरु वार्ष्णेय यथा त्वयि मनो मम। अर्जुनस्य यथा सत्या प्रतिज्ञा स्याच्चिकीर्षिता ॥७-५९-११॥
sa tathā kuru vārṣṇeya yathā tvayi mano mama। arjunasya yathā satyā pratijñā syāccikīrṣitā ॥7-59-11॥
[स (sa) - he; तथा (tathā) - thus; कुरु (kuru) - do; वार्ष्णेय (vārṣṇeya) - O descendant of Vṛṣṇi; यथा (yathā) - as; त्वयि (tvayi) - in you; मनो (mano) - mind; मम (mama) - my; अर्जुनस्य (arjunasya) - of Arjuna; यथा (yathā) - as; सत्या (satyā) - true; प्रतिज्ञा (pratijñā) - promise; स्यात् (syāt) - may be; चिकीर्षिता (cikīrṣitā) - intended;]
(He, thus do, O descendant of Vṛṣṇi, as my mind is in you, so that Arjuna's promise may be true and intended.)
Therefore, O descendant of Vṛṣṇi, act in such a way that my mind is in you, so that Arjuna's promise may be fulfilled as intended.
स भवांस्तारयत्वस्माद्दुःखामर्षमहार्णवात्। पारं तितीर्षतामद्य प्लवो नो भव माधव ॥७-५९-१२॥
sa bhavāṁstārayatvasmādduḥkhāmarṣamahārṇavāt। pāraṁ titīrṣatāmadya plavo no bhava mādhava ॥7-59-12॥
[स (sa) - he; भवान् (bhavān) - you; तारयतु (tārayatu) - may lead; अस्मात् (asmāt) - from this; दुःख (duḥkha) - sorrow; अमर्ष (amarṣa) - anger; महार्णवात् (mahārṇavāt) - great ocean; पारम् (pāram) - shore; तितीर्षताम् (titīrṣatām) - those desiring to cross; अद्य (adya) - today; प्लवः (plavaḥ) - boat; नः (naḥ) - our; भव (bhava) - be; माधव (mādhava) - Madhava;]
(He, you may lead from this sorrow and anger great ocean. Shore those desiring to cross today boat our be Madhava.)
O Madhava, may you be our boat today to lead us across the great ocean of sorrow and anger.
न हि तत्कुरुते सङ्ख्ये कार्तवीर्यसमस्त्वपि। रथी यत्कुरुते कृष्ण सारथिर्यत्नमास्थितः ॥७-५९-१३॥
na hi tatkurute saṅkhye kārtavīryasamastvapi। rathī yatkurute kṛṣṇa sārathiryatnamāsthitaḥ ॥7-59-13॥
[न (na) - not; हि (hi) - indeed; तत् (tat) - that; कुरुते (kurute) - does; सङ्ख्ये (saṅkhye) - in battle; कार्तवीर्यसमः (kārtavīryasamaḥ) - equal to Kārtavīrya; अपि (api) - even; रथी (rathī) - charioteer; यत् (yat) - what; कुरुते (kurute) - does; कृष्ण (kṛṣṇa) - Kṛṣṇa; सारथि (sārathi) - charioteer; यत्नम् (yatnam) - effort; आस्थितः (āsthitaḥ) - engaged;]
(Not indeed does that in battle, even equal to Kārtavīrya, the charioteer do what Kṛṣṇa, the charioteer, engaged in effort, does.)
Even a charioteer equal to Kārtavīrya does not perform in battle what Kṛṣṇa, the charioteer, does with effort.

सामरेष्वपि लोकेषु सर्वेषु न तथाविधः। शरासनधरः कश्चिद्यथा पार्थो धनञ्जयः ॥७-५९-१४॥
sāmareṣvapi lokeṣu sarveṣu na tathāvidhaḥ। śarāsanadharaḥ kaścidyathā pārtho dhanañjayaḥ ॥7-59-14॥
[सामरेषु (sāmareṣu) - in battles; अपि (api) - even; लोकेषु (lokeṣu) - in the worlds; सर्वेषु (sarveṣu) - in all; न (na) - not; तथाविधः (tathāvidhaḥ) - such; शरासनधरः (śarāsanadharaḥ) - bow-holder; कश्चित् (kaścit) - anyone; यथा (yathā) - like; पार्थः (pārthaḥ) - Arjuna; धनञ्जयः (dhanañjayaḥ) - Dhananjaya;]
(In battles, even in all the worlds, there is no one like Arjuna, the bow-holder, Dhananjaya.)

स युवा वृषभस्कन्धो दीर्घबाहुर्महाबलः। सिंहर्षभगतिः श्रीमान्द्विषतस्ते हनिष्यति ॥७-५९-१६॥
sa yuvā vṛṣabha-skandho dīrgha-bāhur-mahābalaḥ। siṃha-rṣabha-gatiḥ śrīmān-dviṣatas-te haniṣyati ॥7-59-16॥
[स (sa) - he; युवा (yuvā) - young; वृषभ (vṛṣabha) - bull; स्कन्धः (skandhaḥ) - shouldered; दीर्घ (dīrgha) - long; बाहुः (bāhuḥ) - armed; महाबलः (mahābalaḥ) - mighty; सिंह (siṃha) - lion; ऋषभ (ṛṣabha) - bull; गतिः (gatiḥ) - gait; श्रीमान् (śrīmān) - glorious; द्विषतः (dviṣataḥ) - enemies; ते (te) - your; हनिष्यति (haniṣyati) - will slay;]
(He, the young one with bull-like shoulders, long-armed and mighty, with the gait of a lion and bull, glorious, will slay your enemies.)
The young hero, strong and mighty with broad shoulders like a bull, and the majestic gait of a lion, will defeat your enemies.
अहं च तत्करिष्यामि यथा कुन्तीसुतोऽर्जुनः। धार्तराष्ट्रस्य सैन्यानि धक्ष्यत्यग्निरिवोत्थितः ॥७-५९-१७॥
ahaṁ ca tatkariṣyāmi yathā kuntīsuto'rjunaḥ। dhārtarāṣṭrasya sainyāni dhakṣyatyagnirivotthitaḥ ॥7-59-17॥
[अहम् (aham) - I; च (ca) - and; तत् (tat) - that; करिष्यामि (kariṣyāmi) - will do; यथा (yathā) - as; कुन्ती-सुतः (kuntī-sutaḥ) - Kunti's son; अर्जुनः (arjunaḥ) - Arjuna; धार्तराष्ट्रस्य (dhārtarāṣṭrasya) - of Dhritarashtra; सैन्यानि (sainyāni) - armies; धक्ष्यति (dhakṣyati) - will burn; अग्निः (agniḥ) - fire; इव (iva) - like; उत्थितः (utthitaḥ) - arisen;]
(I will do that as Kunti's son Arjuna will burn the armies of Dhritarashtra like a risen fire.)
I will act in the same way as Arjuna, the son of Kunti, who will set ablaze the armies of Dhritarashtra like a rising fire.
अद्य तं पापकर्माणं क्षुद्रं सौभद्रघातिनम्। अपुनर्दर्शनं मार्गमिषुभिः क्षेप्स्यतेऽर्जुनः ॥७-५९-१८॥
adya taṁ pāpakarmāṇaṁ kṣudraṁ saubhadraghātinam। apunardarśanaṁ mārgamiṣubhiḥ kṣepsyate'rjunaḥ ॥7-59-18॥
[अद्य (adya) - today; तम् (tam) - him; पापकर्माणम् (pāpakarmāṇam) - wicked-deed-doer; क्षुद्रम् (kṣudram) - mean; सौभद्रघातिनम् (saubhadra-ghātinam) - Subhadra's killer; अपुनर्दर्शनम् (apunardarśanam) - never-to-be-seen-again; मार्गम् (mārgam) - path; इषुभिः (iṣubhiḥ) - with arrows; क्षेप्स्यते (kṣepsyate) - will be sent; अर्जुनः (arjunaḥ) - Arjuna;]
(Today, Arjuna will send that wicked, mean killer of Subhadra on the path of never being seen again with arrows.)

तस्याद्य गृध्राः श्येनाश्च वडगोमायवस्तथा। भक्षयिष्यन्ति मांसानि ये चान्ये पुरुषादकाः ॥७-५९-१९॥
tasyādya gṛdhrāḥ śyenāśca vaḍagomāyavastathā। bhakṣayiṣyanti māṁsāni ye cānye puruṣādakāḥ ॥7-59-19॥
[तस्य (tasya) - his; अद्य (adya) - today; गृध्राः (gṛdhrāḥ) - vultures; श्येनाः (śyenāḥ) - hawks; च (ca) - and; वडगोमायवः (vaḍagomāyavaḥ) - jackals; तथा (tathā) - also; भक्षयिष्यन्ति (bhakṣayiṣyanti) - will eat; मांसानि (māṁsāni) - flesh; ये (ye) - who; च (ca) - and; अन्ये (anye) - other; पुरुषादकाः (puruṣādakāḥ) - cannibals;]
(Today, vultures, hawks, jackals, and other cannibals will eat his flesh.)

यद्यस्य देवा गोप्तारः सेन्द्राः सर्वे तथाप्यसौ। राजधानीं यमस्याद्य हतः प्राप्स्यति सङ्कुले ॥७-५९-२०॥
yadyasya devā goptāraḥ sendrāḥ sarve tathāpyasau। rājadhānīṃ yamasyādya hataḥ prāpsyati saṅkule ॥7-59-20॥
[यत् (yat) - if; अस्य (asya) - his; देवाः (devāḥ) - gods; गोप्तारः (goptāraḥ) - protectors; स-इन्द्राः (sa-indrāḥ) - with Indra; सर्वे (sarve) - all; तथापि (tathāpi) - still; असौ (asau) - he; राजधानीम् (rājadhānīm) - capital; यमस्य (yamasya) - of Yama; अद्य (adya) - today; हतः (hataḥ) - killed; प्राप्स्यति (prāpsyati) - will reach; सङ्कुले (saṅkule) - in confusion;]
(If all the gods, with Indra, are his protectors, still today he, being killed, will reach the capital of Yama in confusion.)

निहत्य सैन्धवं जिष्णुरद्य त्वामुपयास्यति। विशोको विज्वरो राजन्भव भूतिपुरस्कृतः ॥७-५९-२१॥
nihatya saindhavaṃ jiṣṇuradya tvāmupayāsyati। viśoko vijvaro rājanbhava bhūtipuraskṛtaḥ ॥7-59-21॥
[निहत्य (nihatya) - having slain; सैन्धवम् (saindhavam) - Saindhava; जिष्णुः (jiṣṇuḥ) - Arjuna; अद्य (adya) - today; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; उपयास्यति (upayāsyati) - will approach; विशोकः (viśokaḥ) - free from sorrow; विज्वरः (vijvaraḥ) - free from fever; राजन् (rājan) - O king; भव (bhava) - be; भूतिपुरस्कृतः (bhūtipuraskṛtaḥ) - endowed with prosperity;]
(Having slain Saindhava, Arjuna will approach you today. Be free from sorrow and fever, O king, endowed with prosperity.)
After defeating Saindhava, Arjuna will come to you today. Be without sorrow and fever, O king, and be prosperous.
