तं श्रुत्वा निनदं घोरं पीड्यमानं च माधवम्। युधिष्ठिरोऽब्रवीद्राजन्सर्वसैन्यानि भारत ॥७-८५-१३॥
taṁ śrutvā ninadaṁ ghoraṁ pīḍyamānaṁ ca mādhavam। yudhiṣṭhiro'bravīdrājansarvasainyāni bhārata ॥7-85-13॥

(Having heard that terrible sound and seeing Madhava being oppressed, Yudhishthira said, "O king, all the armies, Bharata.")
Upon hearing the dreadful sound and seeing Madhava in distress, Yudhishthira addressed all the armies, saying, "O king, all the forces, Bharata."
एष वृष्णिवरो वीरः सात्यकिः सत्यकर्मकृत्। ग्रस्यते युधि वीरेण भानुमानिव राहुणा ॥ अभिद्रवत गच्छध्वं सात्यकिर्यत्र युध्यते ॥७-८५-१४॥
eṣa vṛṣṇivaro vīraḥ sātyakiḥ satyakarmakṛt। grasyate yudhi vīreṇa bhānumāniva rāhuṇā ॥ abhidravata gacchadhvaṃ sātyakiryatra yudhyate ॥7-85-14॥

(This best of the Vrishnis, the hero Satyaki, doer of true deeds, is being swallowed in battle by the hero, like the sun by Rahu. Charge, go where Satyaki is fighting.)
Satyaki, the valiant hero and the best among the Vrishnis, known for his true deeds, is being overwhelmed in battle by a mighty warrior, just as Rahu swallows the sun. Rush to where Satyaki is engaged in combat.
धृष्टद्युम्नं च पाञ्चाल्यमिदमाह जनाधिप। अभिद्रव द्रुतं द्रोणं किं नु तिष्ठसि पार्षत ॥ न पश्यसि भयं घोरं द्रोणान्नः समुपस्थितम् ॥७-८५-१५॥
dhṛṣṭadyumnaṃ ca pāñcālyamidamāha janādhipa। abhidrava drutaṃ droṇaṃ kiṃ nu tiṣṭhasi pārṣata ॥ na paśyasi bhayaṃ ghoraṃ droṇānnaḥ samupasthitam ॥7-85-15॥

(Dhṛṣṭadyumna and Pāñcālya, this said O ruler of men: "Attack quickly Droṇa. Why indeed are you standing, O son of Pṛṣata? Do you not see the terrible danger from Droṇa has approached us?")
Dhṛṣṭadyumna, the son of Pāñcāla, was addressed by the ruler of men: "Quickly attack Droṇa. Why are you standing still, O son of Pṛṣata? Can't you see the terrible danger from Droṇa approaching us?"
असौ द्रोणो महेष्वासो युयुधानेन संयुगे। क्रीडते सूत्रबद्धेन पक्षिणा बालको यथा ॥७-८५-१६॥
asau droṇo maheṣvāso yuyudhānena saṃyuge। krīḍate sūtrabaddhena pakṣiṇā bālako yathā ॥7-85-16॥

तत्रैव सर्वे गच्छन्तु भीमसेनमुखा रथाः। त्वयैव सहिता यत्ता युयुधानरथं प्रति ॥७-८५-१७॥
tatraiva sarve gacchantu bhīmasenamukhā rathāḥ। tvayaiva sahitā yattā yuyudhānarathaṃ prati ॥7-85-17॥

पृष्ठतोऽनुगमिष्यामि त्वामहं सहसैनिकः। सात्यकिं मोक्षयस्वाद्य यमदंष्ट्रान्तरं गतम् ॥७-८५-१८॥
pṛṣṭhato'nugamiṣyāmi tvāmahaṃ sahasainikaḥ। sātyakiṃ mokṣayasvādya yamadaṃṣṭrāntaraṃ gatam ॥7-85-18॥

तत्रारावो महानासीद्द्रोणमेकं युयुत्सताम्। पाण्डवानां च भद्रं ते सृञ्जयानां च सर्वशः ॥७-८५-२०॥
tatrārāvo mahānāsīddroṇamekaṃ yuyutsatām। pāṇḍavānāṃ ca bhadraṃ te sṛñjayānāṃ ca sarvaśaḥ ॥7-85-20॥
[तत्र (tatra) - there; आरावः (ārāvaḥ) - sound; महान् (mahān) - great; आसीत् (āsīt) - was; द्रोणम् (droṇam) - Drona; एकम् (ekam) - one; युयुत्सताम् (yuyutsatām) - of those desiring to fight; पाण्डवानाम् (pāṇḍavānām) - of the Pandavas; च (ca) - and; भद्रम् (bhadram) - welfare; ते (te) - your; सृञ्जयानाम् (sṛñjayānām) - of the Srinjayas; च (ca) - and; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - entirely;]
(There was a great sound of those desiring to fight, Drona being one. Of the Pandavas and your welfare, and of the Srinjayas entirely.)
There arose a great tumult as Drona, among those eager to fight, stood. It was for the welfare of the Pandavas and entirely for the Srinjayas.
ते समेत्य नरव्याघ्रा भारद्वाजं महारथम्। अभ्यवर्षञ्शरैस्तीक्ष्णैः कङ्कबर्हिणवाजितैः ॥७-८५-२१॥

तत्र देवाः सगन्धर्वाः पितरश्चाब्रुवन्नृप। एते द्रवन्ति पाञ्चालाः पाण्डवाश्च ससैनिकाः ॥७-८५-३३॥

(There the gods, along with the Gandharvas and ancestors, said, "O king, these Panchalas and Pandavas are running with their soldiers.")
At that place, the gods, accompanied by the Gandharvas and ancestors, addressed the king, saying, "O king, the Panchalas and Pandavas are advancing with their troops."
तं तथा समरे द्रोणं निघ्नन्तं सोमकान्रणे। न चाप्यभिययुः केचिदपरे नैव विव्यधुः ॥७-८५-३४॥
taṃ tathā samare droṇaṃ nighnantaṃ somakānraṇe। na cāpyabhiyayuḥ kecidapare naiva vivyadhuḥ ॥7-85-34॥

न नूनं स्वस्ति पार्थस्य यथा नदति शङ्खराट्। कौरवाश्च यथा हृष्टा विनदन्ति मुहुर्मुहुः ॥७-८५-३८॥
na nūnaṃ svasti pārthasya yathā nadati śaṅkharāṭ। kauravāśca yathā hṛṣṭā vinadanti muhurmuhuḥ ॥7-85-38॥

(Not indeed is the well-being of Pārtha as the conch king roars. And the Kauravas, as elated, shout again and again.)
It seems that Pārtha's well-being is not assured as the conch king roars, while the Kauravas, in their elation, shout repeatedly.
एवं सञ्चिन्तयित्वा तु व्याकुलेनान्तरात्मना। अजातशत्रुः कौन्तेयः सात्वतं प्रत्यभाषत ॥७-८५-३९॥
evaṃ sañcintayitvā tu vyākulenāntarātmanā। ajātaśatruḥ kaunteyaḥ sātvataṃ pratyabhāṣata ॥7-85-39॥

(The duty which was formerly seen by the good, O descendant of Śini, as eternal, in battle for the sake of friends, his time has come.)

सोऽहं भारं समाधास्ये त्वयि तं वोढुमर्हसि। अभिप्रायं च मे नित्यं न वृथा कर्तुमर्हसि ॥७-८५-४५॥
so'haṁ bhāraṁ samādhāsye tvayi taṁ voḍhum arhasi। abhiprāyaṁ ca me nityaṁ na vṛthā kartum arhasi ॥7-85-45॥
