धर्मराजस्य तद्वाक्यं निशम्य शिनिपुङ्गवः। पार्थाच्च भयमाशङ्कन्परित्यागान्महीपतेः ॥७-८७-१॥
dharmarājasya tadvākyaṃ niśamya śinipuṅgavaḥ। pārthācca bhayamāśaṅkanparityāgānmahīpateḥ ॥7-87-1॥

(Having heard those words of Dharmaraja, the best of the Shinis, suspecting fear and abandonment from Partha, of the king.)
Upon hearing the words of Dharmaraja, the noble Shini warrior, fearing possible abandonment by King Partha, was filled with concern.
अपवादं ह्यात्मनश्च लोकाद्रक्षन्विशेषतः। न मां भीत इति ब्रूयुरायान्तं फल्गुनं प्रति ॥७-८७-२॥
apavādaṃ hyātmanaśca lokādrakṣanviśeṣataḥ। na māṃ bhīta iti brūyurāyāntaṃ phalgunaṃ prati ॥7-87-2॥

(Having decided in many ways, Satyaki, arrogant in battle, said this speech to Dharmaraja, O best of men.)
Satyaki, known for his arrogance in battle, after considering various aspects, addressed Dharmaraja with these words, O best of men.
कृतां चेन्मन्यसे रक्षां स्वस्ति तेऽस्तु विशां पते। अनुयास्यामि बीभत्सुं करिष्ये वचनं तव ॥७-८७-४॥
kṛtāṃ cenmanyase rakṣāṃ svasti te'stu viśāṃ pate। anuyāsyāmi bībhatsuṃ kariṣye vacanaṃ tava ॥7-87-4॥

(If you think protection is done, well-being be to you, O lord of the people. I will follow Bibhatsu (Arjuna), I will do your word.)
If you believe the protection is complete, may well-being be with you, O lord of the people. I shall follow Arjuna and fulfill your command.
न हि मे पाण्डवात्कश्चित्त्रिषु लोकेषु विद्यते। यो वै प्रियतरो राजन्सत्यमेतद्ब्रवीमि ते ॥७-८७-५॥
na hi me pāṇḍavāt kaścit triṣu lokeṣu vidyate। yo vai priyataro rājan satyam etad bravīmi te ॥7-87-5॥

प्रिये हि तव वर्तेते भ्रातरौ कृष्णपाण्डवौ। तयोः प्रिये स्थितं चैव विद्धि मां राजपुङ्गव ॥७-८७-८॥

(Having accepted your command with my head, O lord, I shall proceed for the purpose of the Pandavas, having pierced this impenetrable army, O best among men.)
O lord, having accepted your command, I will break through this impenetrable army for the sake of the Pandavas and proceed, O best among men.
द्रोणानीकं विशाम्येष क्रुद्धो झष इवार्णवम्। तत्र यास्यामि यत्रासौ राजन्राजा जयद्रथः ॥७-८७-१०॥
droṇānīkaṃ viśāmyeṣa kruddho jhaṣa ivārṇavam। tatra yāsyāmi yatrāsau rājanrājā jayadrathaḥ ॥7-87-10॥

यत्र सेनां समाश्रित्य भीतस्तिष्ठति पाण्डवात्। गुप्तो रथवरश्रेष्ठैर्द्रौणिकर्णकृपादिभिः ॥७-८७-११॥
yatra senāṃ samāśritya bhītastiṣṭhati pāṇḍavāt। gupto rathavaraśreṣṭhairdrauṇikarṇakṛpādibhiḥ ॥7-87-11॥

हुडशक्तिगदाप्रासखड्गचर्मर्ष्टितोमरम्। इष्वस्त्रवरसम्बाधं क्षोभयिष्ये बलार्णवम् ॥७-८७-१५॥
huḍaśaktigadāprāsakhaḍgacarmarṣṭitomaram। iṣvastravarasambādhaṃ kṣobhayiṣye balārṇavam ॥7-87-15॥

यदेतत्कुञ्जरानीकं साहस्रमनुपश्यसि। कुलमञ्जनकं नाम यत्रैते वीर्यशालिनः ॥७-८७-१६॥

आस्थिता बहुभिर्म्लेच्छैर्युद्धशौण्डैः प्रहारिभिः। नागा मेघनिभा राजन्क्षरन्त इव तोयदाः ॥७-८७-१७॥
āsthitā bahubhir mleccair yuddhaśauṇḍaiḥ prahāribhiḥ। nāgā meghanibhā rājan kṣaranta iva toyadāḥ ॥7-87-17॥

नैते जातु निवर्तेरन्प्रेषिता हस्तिसादिभिः। अन्यत्र हि वधादेषां नास्ति राजन्पराजयः ॥७-८७-१८॥
naite jātu nivarteranpreṣitā hastisādibhiḥ। anyatra hi vadhādeṣāṃ nāsti rājanparājayaḥ ॥7-87-18॥

अथ यान्रथिनो राजन्समन्तादनुपश्यसि। एते रुक्मरथा नाम राजपुत्रा महारथाः ॥७-८७-१९॥
atha yānrathino rājansamantādanupaśyasi। ete rukmarathā nāma rājaputrā mahārathāḥ ॥7-87-19॥
[अथ (atha) - then; यान्रथिनः (yānrathinaḥ) - charioteers; राजन् (rājan) - O king; समन्तात् (samantāt) - all around; अनुपश्यसि (anupaśyasi) - you see; एते (ete) - these; रुक्मरथाः (rukmarathāḥ) - Rukmarathas; नाम (nāma) - by name; राजपुत्राः (rājaputrāḥ) - princes; महारथाः (mahārathāḥ) - great warriors;]
(Then, O king, the charioteers you see all around are called Rukmarathas, the princes and great warriors.)

अथ हर्षपरीताङ्गः सात्यकिर्भीममब्रवीत्। त्वं भीम रक्ष राजानमेतत्कार्यतमं हि ते ॥७-८७-६६॥
atha harṣaparītāṅgaḥ sātyakirbhīmamabravīt। tvaṃ bhīma rakṣa rājānametatkāryatamaṃ hi te ॥7-87-66॥
[अथ (atha) - then; हर्षपरीताङ्गः (harṣaparītāṅgaḥ) - filled with joy; सात्यकिः (sātyakiḥ) - Satyaki; भीमम् (bhīmam) - Bhima; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said; त्वम् (tvam) - you; भीम (bhīma) - Bhima; रक्ष (rakṣa) - protect; राजानम् (rājānam) - the king; एतत् (etat) - this; कार्यतमम् (kāryatamam) - most important duty; हि (hi) - indeed; ते (te) - your;]
(Then, filled with joy, Satyaki said to Bhima: "You, Bhima, protect the king; this is indeed your most important duty.")
Then, overwhelmed with joy, Satyaki addressed Bhima, saying: "Bhima, your foremost duty is to protect the king."
अहं भित्त्वा प्रवेक्ष्यामि कालपक्वमिदं बलम्। आयत्यां च तदात्वे च श्रेयो राज्ञोऽभिरक्षणम् ॥७-८७-६७॥
ahaṁ bhittvā pravekṣyāmi kālapakvamidaṁ balam। āyatyāṁ ca tadātve ca śreyo rājño'bhirakṣaṇam ॥7-87-67॥
[अहं (ahaṁ) - I; भित्त्वा (bhittvā) - having pierced; प्रवेक्ष्यामि (pravekṣyāmi) - will enter; कालपक्वम् (kālapakvam) - ripened by time; इदं (idaṁ) - this; बलम् (balam) - strength; आयत्यां (āyatyāṁ) - in the future; च (ca) - and; तदात्वे (tadātve) - in the present; च (ca) - and; श्रेयः (śreyaḥ) - welfare; राज्ञः (rājñaḥ) - of the king; अभिरक्षणम् (abhirakṣaṇam) - protection;]
(I, having pierced, will enter this strength ripened by time. In the future and in the present, the welfare of the king's protection.)
I will penetrate and enter this strength that has matured over time. Both in the future and the present, it is for the welfare and protection of the king.
जानीषे मम वीर्यं त्वं तव चाहमरिंदम। तस्माद्भीम निवर्तस्व मम चेदिच्छसि प्रियम् ॥७-८७-६८॥
jānīṣe mama vīryaṃ tvaṃ tava cāhamariṃdama। tasmādbhīma nivartasva mama cedicchasi priyam ॥7-87-68॥
[जानीषे (jānīṣe) - you know; मम (mama) - my; वीर्यं (vīryaṃ) - strength; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; तव (tava) - your; च (ca) - and; अहम् (aham) - I; अरिंदम (ariṃdama) - O subduer of enemies; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; भीम (bhīma) - Bhima; निवर्तस्व (nivartasva) - turn back; मम (mama) - my; चेत् (cet) - if; इच्छसि (icchasi) - you wish; प्रियम् (priyam) - pleasure;]
(You know my strength, and I know yours, O subduer of enemies. Therefore, Bhima, turn back if you wish to please me.)
You are aware of my strength, and I am aware of yours, O Arindama. Therefore, Bhima, if you desire to please me, turn back.
तथोक्तः सात्यकिं प्राह व्रज त्वं कार्यसिद्धये। अहं राज्ञः करिष्यामि रक्षां पुरुषसत्तम ॥७-८७-६९॥
tathoktaḥ sātyakiṃ prāha vraja tvaṃ kāryasiddhaye। ahaṃ rājñaḥ kariṣyāmi rakṣāṃ puruṣasattama ॥7-87-69॥
[तथोक्तः (tathoktaḥ) - thus spoken; सात्यकिं (sātyakiṃ) - to Satyaki; प्राह (prāha) - said; व्रज (vraja) - go; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; कार्यसिद्धये (kāryasiddhaye) - for accomplishing the task; अहं (ahaṃ) - I; राज्ञः (rājñaḥ) - of the king; करिष्यामि (kariṣyāmi) - will do; रक्षां (rakṣāṃ) - protection; पुरुषसत्तम (puruṣasattama) - O best among men;]
(Thus spoken, he said to Satyaki, "Go, you, for accomplishing the task. I will do the protection of the king, O best among men.")
Having thus spoken, he instructed Satyaki to proceed for the accomplishment of the task, assuring him that he would protect the king, addressing him as the best among men.
एवमुक्तः प्रत्युवाच भीमसेनं स माधवः। गच्छ गच्छ द्रुतं पार्थ ध्रुवोऽद्य विजयो मम ॥७-८७-७०॥
evamuktaḥ pratyuvāca bhīmasenaṃ sa mādhavaḥ। gaccha gaccha drutaṃ pārtha dhruvo'dya vijayo mama ॥7-87-70॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्तः (uktaḥ) - spoken; प्रत्युवाच (pratyuvāca) - replied; भीमसेनम् (bhīmasenam) - Bhimasena; सः (saḥ) - he; माधवः (mādhavaḥ) - Madhava; गच्छ (gaccha) - go; गच्छ (gaccha) - go; द्रुतम् (drutam) - quickly; पार्थ (pārtha) - O son of Pritha; ध्रुवः (dhruvaḥ) - certain; अद्य (adya) - today; विजयः (vijayaḥ) - victory; मम (mama) - my;]
(Thus spoken, Madhava replied to Bhimasena, "Go, go quickly, O son of Pritha; today my victory is certain.")
Having been spoken to thus, Madhava replied to Bhimasena, urging him to go quickly, assuring that today's victory is certain for him.
यन्मे स्निग्धोऽनुरक्तश्च त्वमद्य वशगः स्थितः। निमित्तानि च धन्यानि यथा भीम वदन्ति मे ॥७-८७-७१॥
yanme snigdho'nuraktaśca tvamadya vaśagaḥ sthitaḥ। nimittāni ca dhanyāni yathā bhīma vadanti me ॥7-87-71॥
[यत् (yat) - that; मे (me) - my; स्निग्धः (snigdhaḥ) - affectionate; अनुरक्तः (anuraktaḥ) - devoted; च (ca) - and; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अद्य (adya) - today; वशगः (vaśagaḥ) - under control; स्थितः (sthitaḥ) - situated; निमित्तानि (nimittāni) - omens; च (ca) - and; धन्यानि (dhanyāni) - auspicious; यथा (yathā) - as; भीम (bhīma) - Bhima; वदन्ति (vadanti) - say; मे (me) - to me;]
(That my affectionate and devoted you today are under control, and the omens are auspicious as Bhima says to me.)
Today, you, who are affectionate and devoted to me, are under control, and the omens are auspicious as Bhima tells me.
निहते सैन्धवे पापे पाण्डवेन महात्मना। परिष्वजिष्ये राजानं धर्मात्मानं न संशयः ॥७-८७-७२॥
nihate saindhave pāpe pāṇḍavena mahātmanā। pariṣvajiṣye rājānaṃ dharmātmānaṃ na saṃśayaḥ ॥7-87-72॥
[निहते (nihate) - killed; सैन्धवे (saindhave) - Saindhava; पापे (pāpe) - wicked; पाण्डवेन (pāṇḍavena) - by Pāṇḍava; महात्मना (mahātmanā) - great soul; परिष्वजिष्ये (pariṣvajiṣye) - I will embrace; राजानं (rājānaṃ) - the king; धर्मात्मानं (dharmātmānaṃ) - righteous soul; न (na) - no; संशयः (saṃśayaḥ) - doubt;]
(When the wicked Saindhava is killed by the great-souled Pāṇḍava, I will embrace the righteous king, no doubt.)
There is no doubt that once the wicked Saindhava is slain by the noble Pāṇḍava, I shall embrace the righteous king.
एतावदुक्त्वा भीमं तु विसृज्य च महामनाः। सम्प्रैक्षत्तावकं सैन्यं व्याघ्रो मृगगणानिव ॥७-८७-७३॥
etāvad uktvā bhīmaṃ tu visṛjya ca mahāmanāḥ। samprīkṣat tāvakaṃ sainyaṃ vyāghro mṛgagaṇān iva ॥7-87-73॥
[एतावत् (etāvat) - thus; उक्त्वा (uktvā) - having spoken; भीमम् (bhīmam) - Bhima; तु (tu) - but; विसृज्य (visṛjya) - having released; च (ca) - and; महामनाः (mahāmanāḥ) - great-minded; सम्प्रैक्षत् (samprīkṣat) - looked upon; तावकम् (tāvakam) - your; सैन्यम् (sainyam) - army; व्याघ्रः (vyāghraḥ) - tiger; मृगगणान् (mṛgagaṇān) - herds of deer; इव (iva) - like;]
(Thus, having spoken to Bhima, the great-minded one released him and looked upon your army like a tiger at herds of deer.)
Having said this, the great-minded one released Bhima and looked at your army like a tiger looks at herds of deer.
तं दृष्ट्वा प्रविविक्षन्तं सैन्यं तव जनाधिप। भूय एवाभवन्मूढं सुभृशं चाप्यकम्पत ॥७-८७-७४॥
taṁ dṛṣṭvā pravivikṣantaṁ sainyaṁ tava janādhipa। bhūya evābhavanmūḍhaṁ subhṛśaṁ cāpyakampata ॥7-87-74॥
[तं (tam) - him; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - seeing; प्रविविक्षन्तं (pravivikṣantam) - intending to enter; सैन्यं (sainyam) - army; तव (tava) - your; जनाधिप (janādhipa) - O ruler of people; भूय (bhūya) - again; एव (eva) - indeed; अभवन्मूढं (abhavanmūḍham) - became bewildered; सुभृशं (subhṛśam) - greatly; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; अकम्पत (akampata) - trembled;]
(Seeing him intending to enter your army, O ruler of people, again indeed became bewildered, greatly and also trembled.)
Upon seeing him about to enter your army, O ruler of the people, they became greatly bewildered and trembled once more.
ततः प्रयातः सहसा सैन्यं तव स सात्यकिः। दिदृक्षुरर्जुनं राजन्धर्मराजस्य शासनात् ॥७-८७-७५॥
tataḥ prayātaḥ sahasā sainyaṃ tava sa sātyakiḥ। didṛkṣur-arjunaṃ rājandharmarājasya śāsanāt ॥7-87-75॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; प्रयातः (prayātaḥ) - departed; सहसा (sahasā) - suddenly; सैन्यं (sainyaṃ) - army; तव (tava) - your; स (sa) - that; सात्यकिः (sātyakiḥ) - Satyaki; दिदृक्षुः (didṛkṣuḥ) - desiring to see; अर्जुनं (arjunaṃ) - Arjuna; राजन् (rājan) - O king; धर्मराजस्य (dharmarājasya) - of Yudhishthira; शासनात् (śāsanāt) - by the command;]
(Then, suddenly, your army, that Satyaki departed, desiring to see Arjuna, O king, by the command of Yudhishthira.)
Then, Satyaki suddenly departed with your army, O king, desiring to see Arjuna, as commanded by Yudhishthira.
