स्वयं वैरं महत्कृत्वा पाञ्चालैः पाण्डवैः सह। एकं सात्यकिमासाद्य कथं भीतोऽसि संयुगे ॥७-९८-४॥

न जानीषे पुरा त्वं तु गृह्णन्नक्षान्दुरोदरे। शरा ह्येते भविष्यन्ति दारुणाशीविषोपमाः ॥७-९८-५॥
na jānīṣe purā tvaṃ tu gṛhṇann akṣān durodare। śarā hy ete bhaviṣyanti dāruṇāśīviṣopamāḥ ॥7-98-5॥

(You do not know, but before, while taking dice in the bad belly, these will become arrows, indeed, like terrible poisonous snakes.)
You are unaware that the dice you are handling will turn into arrows, as dreadful as venomous serpents.
अप्रियाणां च वचनं पाण्डवेषु विशेषतः। द्रौपद्याश्च परिक्लेशस्त्वन्मूलो ह्यभवत्पुरा ॥७-९८-६॥
apriyāṇāṃ ca vacanaṃ pāṇḍaveṣu viśeṣataḥ। draupadyāśca parikleśastvanmūlo hyabhavatpurā ॥7-98-6॥

क्व ते मानश्च दर्पश्च क्व च तद्वीर गर्जितम्। आशीविषसमान्पार्थान्कोपयित्वा क्व यास्यसि ॥७-९८-७॥

ननु नाम त्वया वीर दीर्यमाणा भयार्दिता। स्वबाहुबलमास्थाय रक्षितव्या ह्यनीकिनी ॥ स त्वमद्य रणं त्यक्त्वा भीतो हर्षयसे परान् ॥७-९८-९॥
nanu nāma tvayā vīra dīryamāṇā bhayārditā। svabāhubalamāsthāya rakṣitavyā hyanīkinī ॥ sa tvamadya raṇaṃ tyaktvā bhīto harṣayase parān ॥7-98-9॥

(Indeed, by name, you, hero, being scattered, afflicted by fear, relying on one's own strength, should be protected, indeed, army. He, you, today, battle, having abandoned, fearful, you delight, others.)

विद्रुते त्वयि सैन्यस्य नायके शत्रुसूदन। कोऽन्यः स्थास्यति सङ्ग्रामे भीतो भीते व्यपाश्रये ॥७-९८-१०॥
vidrute tvayi sainyasya nāyake śatrusūdana। ko'nyah sthāsyati saṅgrāme bhīto bhīte vyapāśraye ॥7-98-10॥

(When you, the leader of the army, have fled, O enemy-slayer, who else will stand in battle, afraid, in fearful refuge?)

एकेन सात्वतेनाद्य युध्यमानस्य चानघ। पलायने तव मतिः सङ्ग्रामाद्धि प्रवर्तते ॥७-९८-११॥
ekena sātvatena adya yudhyamānasya ca anagha। palāyane tava matiḥ saṅgrāmāt hi pravartate ॥7-98-11॥

यदा गाण्डीवधन्वानं भीमसेनं च कौरव। यमौ च युधि द्रष्टासि तदा त्वं किं करिष्यसि ॥७-९८-१२॥
yadā gāṇḍīvadhanvānaṃ bhīmasenaṃ ca kaurava। yamau ca yudhi draṣṭāsi tadā tvaṃ kiṃ kariṣyasi ॥7-98-12॥

(When you see the wielder of the Gandiva bow, Bhimasena, and the twins in battle, O Kaurava, then what will you do?)

युधि फल्गुनबाणानां सूर्याग्निसमतेजसाम्। न तुल्याः सात्यकिशरा येषां भीतः पलायसे ॥७-९८-१३॥
yudhi phalgunabāṇānāṃ sūryāgnisamatejasām। na tulyāḥ sātyakiśarā yeṣāṃ bhītaḥ palāyase ॥7-98-13॥
[युधि (yudhi) - in battle; फल्गुनबाणानां (phalgunabāṇānāṃ) - of Arjuna's arrows; सूर्याग्निसमतेजसाम् (sūryāgnisamatejasām) - equal in brilliance to the sun and fire; न (na) - not; तुल्याः (tulyāḥ) - equal; सात्यकिशराः (sātyakiśarāḥ) - to Satyaki's arrows; येषां (yeṣāṃ) - of whom; भीतः (bhītaḥ) - fearful; पलायसे (palāyase) - you flee;]
(In battle, you flee, fearful of those whose arrows, equal in brilliance to the sun and fire, are not equal to Satyaki's arrows.)

यदि तावत्कृता बुद्धिः पलायनपरायणा। पृथिवी धर्मराजस्य शमेनैव प्रदीयताम् ॥७-९८-१४॥
yadi tāvatkṛtā buddhiḥ palāyanaparāyaṇā। pṛthivī dharmarājasya śamenaiva pradīyatām ॥7-98-14॥

(If indeed the intention is made to flee, let the earth be given to Dharmaraja by peace.)

यावत्फल्गुननाराचा निर्मुक्तोरगसंनिभाः। नाविशन्ति शरीरं ते तावत्संशाम्य पाण्डवैः ॥७-९८-१५॥
yāvat phalgunanārācā nirmuktoragasaṁnibhāḥ। nāviśanti śarīraṁ te tāvatsaṁśāmya pāṇḍavaiḥ ॥7-98-15॥

(As long as Arjuna's arrows, like released serpents, do not enter your body, make peace with the Pandavas until then.)

pūrvamuktaśca te bhrātā bhīṣmeṇa sa suyodhanaḥ। ajeyāḥ pāṇḍavāḥ saṅkhye saumya saṃśāmya pāṇḍavaiḥ ॥ na ca tatkṛtavānmandastava bhrātā suyodhanaḥ ॥7-98-19॥

(Previously spoken by Bhishma, your brother Suyodhana was told: "The Pandavas are invincible in battle, gentle one, reconcile with the Pandavas." But your foolish brother Suyodhana did not do that.)
Your brother Suyodhana was previously advised by Bhishma to reconcile with the Pandavas, acknowledging their invincibility in battle. However, your brother, in his folly, did not heed this advice.
स युद्धे धृतिमास्थाय यत्तो युध्यस्व पाण्डवैः। गच्छ तूर्णं रथेनैव तत्र तिष्ठति सात्यकिः ॥७-९८-२०॥

(You, having assumed courage in battle, be prepared to fight with the Pandavas. Go quickly by chariot, there stands Satyaki.)

त्वया हीनं बलं ह्येतद्विद्रविष्यति भारत। आत्मार्थं योधय रणे सात्यकिं सत्यविक्रमम् ॥७-९८-२१॥

प्रत्याश्वस्तस्ततो द्रोणो धनुर्गृह्य महाबलः। शरैर्वैतस्तिकै राजन्नित्यमासन्नयोधिभिः ॥ योधयामास समरे धृष्टद्युम्नं महारथम् ॥७-९८-५०॥

(That wonderful battle of the two was indeed worshipped by assemblies of beings, warriors, O great king, and other soldiers there.)

अवश्यं समरे द्रोणो धृष्टद्युम्नेन सङ्गतः। वशमेष्यति नो राज्ञः पाञ्चाला इति चुक्रुशुः ॥७-९८-५५॥
avaśyaṃ samare droṇo dhṛṣṭadyumnena saṅgataḥ। vaśameṣyati no rājñaḥ pāñcālā iti cukruśuḥ ॥7-98-55॥
