tato yudhiṣṭhiro rājā rathādāplutya bhārata। paryaṣvajattadā kṛṣṇāvānandāśrupariplutaḥ ॥7-124-1॥

(Then King Yudhishthira, having descended from the chariot, embraced Krishna and Arjuna, overwhelmed with tears of joy, O Bharata.)

[प्रमृज्य (pramṛjya) - wiping; वदनं (vadanaṃ) - face; शुभ्रं (śubhraṃ) - bright; पुण्डरीक (puṇḍarīka) - lotus; समप्रभम् (samaprabham) - equal in radiance; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said; वासुदेवं (vāsudevaṃ) - to Vāsudeva; च (ca) - and; पाण्डवं (pāṇḍavaṃ) - to Pāṇḍava; च (ca) - and; धनञ्जयम् (dhanañjayam) - to Dhanañjaya;]
(Wiping the bright face, equal in radiance to a lotus, he said to Vāsudeva and to Pāṇḍava, Dhanañjaya.)
After wiping his bright face, which shone like a lotus, he spoke to Vāsudeva and Arjuna, also known as Dhanañjaya.
दिष्ट्या पश्यामि सङ्ग्रामे तीर्णभारौ महारथौ। दिष्ट्या च निहतः पापः सैन्धवः पुरुषाधमः ॥७-१२४-३॥
diṣṭyā paśyāmi saṅgrāme tīrṇabhārau mahārathau। diṣṭyā ca nihataḥ pāpaḥ saindhavaḥ puruṣādhamaḥ ॥7-124-3॥

(Fortunately, I see the great charioteers relieved of burden in the battle. Fortunately, the wicked Saindhava, the worst among men, is killed.)

कृष्ण दिष्ट्या मम प्रीतिर्महती प्रतिपादिता। दिष्ट्या शत्रुगणाश्चैव निमग्नाः शोकसागरे ॥७-१२४-४॥
kṛṣṇa diṣṭyā mama prītirmahatī pratipāditā। diṣṭyā śatrugaṇāścaiva nimagnāḥ śokasāgare ॥7-124-4॥
[कृष्ण (kṛṣṇa) - O Krishna; दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - by fortune; मम (mama) - my; प्रीतिः (prītiḥ) - affection; महती (mahatī) - great; प्रतिपादिता (pratipāditā) - has been bestowed; दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - by fortune; शत्रुगणाः (śatrugaṇāḥ) - enemies; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; निमग्नाः (nimagnāḥ) - immersed; शोकसागरे (śokasāgare) - in the ocean of sorrow;]
(O Krishna, by fortune, my great affection has been bestowed. By fortune, the enemies are indeed immersed in the ocean of sorrow.)
O Krishna, fortunately, my great affection has been bestowed, and indeed the enemies are submerged in the ocean of sorrow.
न तेषां दुष्करं किञ्चित्त्रिषु लोकेषु विद्यते। सर्वलोकगुरुर्येषां त्वं नाथो मधुसूदन ॥७-१२४-५॥
na teṣāṃ duṣkaraṃ kiñcittriṣu lokeṣu vidyate। sarvalokagururyeṣāṃ tvaṃ nātho madhusūdana ॥7-124-5॥
[न (na) - not; तेषाम् (teṣām) - of them; दुष्करम् (duṣkaram) - difficult; किञ्चित् (kiñcit) - anything; त्रिषु (triṣu) - in three; लोकेषु (lokeṣu) - in worlds; विद्यते (vidyate) - exists; सर्वलोकगुरुः (sarvalokaguruḥ) - the teacher of all worlds; येषाम् (yeṣām) - of whom; त्वम् (tvam) - you; नाथः (nāthaḥ) - lord; मधुसूदन (madhusūdana) - Madhusudana;]
(For them, nothing is difficult in the three worlds. You, Madhusudana, are the lord and teacher of all worlds.)
For those whom you, Madhusudana, are the lord and teacher, nothing is difficult in the three worlds.
तव प्रसादाद्गोविन्द वयं जेष्यामहे रिपून्। यथा पूर्वं प्रसादात्ते दानवान्पाकशासनः ॥७-१२४-६॥
tava prasādādgovinda vayaṃ jeṣyāmahe ripūn। yathā pūrvaṃ prasādātte dānavānpākaśāsanaḥ ॥7-124-6॥

(By your grace, Govinda, we shall conquer the enemies. As before, by your grace, Indra conquered the demons.)
"O Govinda, by your grace, we shall defeat our enemies just as Indra, by your grace, once defeated the demons."
पृथिवीविजयो वापि त्रैलोक्यविजयोऽपि वा। ध्रुवो हि तेषां वार्ष्णेय येषां तुष्टोऽसि माधव ॥७-१२४-७॥
pṛthivīvijayo vāpi trailokyavijayo'pi vā। dhruvo hi teṣāṃ vārṣṇeya yeṣāṃ tuṣṭo'si mādhava ॥7-124-7॥

(The victory of the earth or even the victory of the three worlds is certain for those, O descendant of Vṛṣṇi, with whom you are pleased, O Mādhava.)
O Mādhava, the victory over the earth or even the three worlds is assured for those with whom you are pleased, O descendant of Vṛṣṇi.
न तेषां विद्यते पापं सङ्ग्रामे वा पराजयः। त्रिदशेश्वरनाथस्त्वं येषां तुष्टोऽसि माधव ॥७-१२४-८॥
na teṣāṃ vidyate pāpaṃ saṅgrāme vā parājayaḥ। tridaśeśvaranāthastvaṃ yeṣāṃ tuṣṭo'si mādhava ॥7-124-8॥

(For those with whom you, O Mādhava, the lord of the thirty gods, are pleased, there is neither sin nor defeat in battle.)
O Mādhava, for those whom you favor, there is no sin or defeat in battle, as you are the lord of the thirty gods.
त्वत्प्रसादाद्धृषीकेश शक्रः सुरगणेश्वरः। त्रैलोक्यविजयं श्रीमान्प्राप्तवान्रणमूर्धनि ॥७-१२४-९॥
tvatprasādāddhṛṣīkeśa śakraḥ suragaṇeśvaraḥ। trailokyavijayaṃ śrīmānprāptavānraṇamūrdhani ॥7-124-9॥

(By your grace, O Hrishikesha, Indra, the lord of the gods, achieved victory over the three worlds at the pinnacle of battle.)
By your grace, O Hrishikesha, the glorious Indra, lord of the gods, achieved victory over the three worlds at the height of battle.
तव चैव प्रसादेन त्रिदशास्त्रिदशेश्वर। अमरत्वं गताः कृष्ण लोकांश्चाश्नुवतेऽक्षयान् ॥७-१२४-१०॥
tava caiva prasādena tridaśāstridaśeśvara। amaratvaṃ gatāḥ kṛṣṇa lokāṃścāśnuvate'kṣayān ॥7-124-10॥

(By your grace, O lord of the gods, the gods have attained immortality, O Krishna, and enjoy eternal worlds.)
Due to your grace, O Krishna, the gods, O lord of the gods, have achieved immortality and enjoy eternal realms.
त्वत्प्रसादसमुत्थेन विक्रमेणारिसूदन। सुरेशत्वं गतः शक्रो हत्वा दैत्यान्सहस्रशः ॥७-१२४-११॥
tvatprasādasamutthena vikrameṇārisūdana। sureśatvaṃ gataḥ śakro hatvā daityānsahasraśaḥ ॥7-124-11॥
[त्वत् (tvat) - your; प्रसाद (prasāda) - grace; समुत्थेन (samutthena) - arising from; विक्रमेन (vikrameṇa) - by prowess; अरिसूदन (arisūdana) - O slayer of enemies; सुरेशत्वं (sureśatvaṃ) - lordship over gods; गतः (gataḥ) - attained; शक्रः (śakraḥ) - Indra; हत्वा (hatvā) - having slain; दैत्यान् (daityān) - demons; सहस्रशः (sahasraśaḥ) - by thousands;]
(O slayer of enemies, by your grace and prowess, Indra attained lordship over the gods, having slain thousands of demons.)
O slayer of enemies, through your grace and valor, Indra achieved the status of lord of the gods by defeating thousands of demons.
त्वत्प्रसादाद्धृषीकेश जगत्स्थावरजङ्गमम्। स्ववर्त्मनि स्थितं वीर जपहोमेषु वर्तते ॥७-१२४-१२॥
tvatprasādāddhṛṣīkeśa jagatsthāvarajaṅgamam। svavartmani sthitaṃ vīra japahomeṣu vartate ॥7-124-12॥

(By your grace, O Hrishikesha, the world, both movable and immovable, is situated in its own path, O hero, in recitations and sacrifices, it exists.)
O Hrishikesha, by your grace, the entire world, both the movable and immovable, remains steadfast in its path, and O hero, it continues to exist through recitations and sacrifices.
एकार्णवमिदं पूर्वं सर्वमासीत्तमोमयम्। त्वत्प्रसादात्प्रकाशत्वं जगत्प्राप्तं नरोत्तम ॥७-१२४-१३॥
ekārṇavam idaṃ pūrvaṃ sarvam āsīt tamomayam। tvatprasādāt prakāśatvaṃ jagat prāptaṃ narottama ॥7-124-13॥
[एकार्णवम् (ekārṇavam) - one-ocean; इदं (idaṃ) - this; पूर्वम् (pūrvam) - formerly; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; आसीत् (āsīt) - was; तमोमयम् (tamomayam) - darkness-filled; त्वत् (tvat) - your; प्रसादात् (prasādāt) - by grace; प्रकाशत्वम् (prakāśatvam) - illumination; जगत् (jagat) - world; प्राप्तम् (prāptam) - attained; नरोत्तम (narottama) - O best of men;]
(This entire world was formerly one ocean, filled with darkness. By your grace, O best of men, the world attained illumination.)
In the beginning, everything was an ocean of darkness. Through your grace, O noble one, the world has been illuminated.
स्रष्टारं सर्वलोकानां परमात्मानमच्युतम्। ये प्रपन्ना हृषीकेशं न ते मुह्यन्ति कर्हिचित् ॥७-१२४-१४॥
sraṣṭāraṃ sarvalokānāṃ paramātmanamacyutam। ye prapannā hṛṣīkeśaṃ na te muhyanti karhicit ॥7-124-14॥
[स्रष्टारं (sraṣṭāram) - creator; सर्वलोकानां (sarvalokānāṃ) - of all worlds; परमात्मानम् (paramātmanam) - supreme soul; अच्युतम् (acyutam) - infallible; ये (ye) - who; प्रपन्नाः (prapannāḥ) - surrendered; हृषीकेशं (hṛṣīkeśaṃ) - to Hṛṣīkeśa; न (na) - not; ते (te) - they; मुह्यन्ति (muhyanti) - are deluded; कर्हिचित् (karhicit) - ever;]
(The creator of all worlds, the supreme soul, the infallible. Those who are surrendered to Hṛṣīkeśa are never deluded.)
The infallible supreme soul, creator of all worlds, is never deluded by those who surrender to Hṛṣīkeśa.
अनादिनिधनं देवं लोककर्तारमव्ययम्। त्वां भक्ता ये हृषीकेश दुर्गाण्यतितरन्ति ते ॥७-१२४-१५॥
anādinidhanaṃ devaṃ lokakartāramavyayam। tvāṃ bhaktā ye hṛṣīkeśa durgāṇyatitaranti te ॥7-124-15॥
[अनादिनिधनम् (anādinidhanam) - without beginning or end; देवम् (devam) - god; लोककर्तारम् (lokakartāram) - creator of the world; अव्ययम् (avyayam) - imperishable; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; भक्ताः (bhaktāḥ) - devotees; ये (ye) - who; हृषीकेश (hṛṣīkeśa) - O Hṛṣīkeśa; दुर्गाणि (durgāṇi) - difficulties; अतितरन्ति (atitaranti) - overcome; ते (te) - they;]
(The god without beginning or end, the creator of the world, imperishable. Your devotees, O Hṛṣīkeśa, overcome difficulties.)
O Hṛṣīkeśa, your devotees overcome all difficulties by worshipping you, the eternal and imperishable creator of the world.
परं पुराणं पुरुषं पुराणानां परं च यत्। प्रपद्यतस्तं परमं परा भूतिर्विधीयते ॥७-१२४-१६॥
paraṁ purāṇaṁ puruṣaṁ purāṇānāṁ paraṁ ca yat। prapadyatastaṁ paramaṁ parā bhūtirvidhīyate ॥7-124-16॥
[परम् (param) - supreme; पुराणम् (purāṇam) - ancient; पुरुषम् (puruṣam) - being; पुराणानाम् (purāṇānām) - of the ancients; परम् (param) - beyond; च (ca) - and; यत् (yat) - which; प्रपद्यतः (prapadyataḥ) - of one who surrenders; तम् (tam) - that; परमम् (paramam) - supreme; परा (parā) - transcendental; भूतिः (bhūtiḥ) - prosperity; विधीयते (vidhīyate) - is established;]
(The supreme ancient being, which is beyond the ancients, and to whom one who surrenders, that supreme transcendental prosperity is established.)
The supreme ancient being, beyond all ancients, grants transcendental prosperity to those who surrender to it.
योऽगात चतुरो वेदान्यश्च वेदेषु गीयते। तं प्रपद्य महात्मानं भूतिमाप्नोत्यनुत्तमाम् ॥७-१२४-१७॥
yo'gāta caturo vedānyaśca vedeṣu gīyate। taṃ prapadya mahātmānaṃ bhūtimāpnotyanuttamām ॥7-124-17॥
[यः (yaḥ) - who; अगात् (agāt) - went; चतुरः (caturaḥ) - four; वेदान् (vedān) - Vedas; यः (yaḥ) - who; च (ca) - and; वेदेषु (vedeṣu) - in the Vedas; गीयते (gīyate) - is sung; तम् (tam) - him; प्रपद्य (prapadya) - having surrendered; महात्मानम् (mahātmānam) - great soul; भूतिम् (bhūtim) - prosperity; आप्नोति (āpnoti) - attains; अनुत्तमाम् (anuttamām) - unsurpassed;]
(Who went to the four Vedas and is sung in the Vedas, having surrendered to that great soul, attains unsurpassed prosperity.)
He who has mastered the four Vedas and is praised in them, by surrendering to that great soul, attains the highest prosperity.
धनञ्जयसखा यश्च धनञ्जयहितश्च यः। तं धनञ्जयगोप्तारं प्रपद्य सुखमेधते ॥७-१२४-१८॥
dhanañjayasakhā yaśca dhanañjayahitaśca yaḥ। taṃ dhanañjayagoptāraṃ prapadya sukhamédhate ॥7-124-18॥
[धनञ्जय (dhanañjaya) - Arjuna; सखा (sakhā) - friend; यः (yaḥ) - who; च (ca) - and; धनञ्जय (dhanañjaya) - Arjuna; हित (hita) - welfare; च (ca) - and; यः (yaḥ) - who; तं (taṃ) - him; धनञ्जय (dhanañjaya) - Arjuna; गोप्तारं (goptāraṃ) - protector; प्रपद्य (prapadya) - having surrendered; सुखम् (sukham) - happiness; एधते (édhate) - grows;]
(The friend of Arjuna, who is also the well-wisher of Arjuna, having surrendered to the protector of Arjuna, grows in happiness.)
The friend and well-wisher of Arjuna, having surrendered to Arjuna's protector, finds increasing happiness.
इत्युक्तौ तौ महात्मानावुभौ केशवपाण्डवौ। तावब्रूतां तदा हृष्टौ राजानं पृथिवीपतिम् ॥७-१२४-१९॥
ityuktau tau mahātmānāvubhau keśavapāṇḍavau। tāvabrūtāṃ tadā hṛṣṭau rājānaṃ pṛthivīpatim ॥7-124-19॥
[इति (iti) - thus; उक्तौ (uktau) - spoken; तौ (tau) - those two; महात्मानौ (mahātmānau) - great souls; उभौ (ubhau) - both; केशवपाण्डवौ (keśavapāṇḍavau) - Keshava and Pandava; तौ (tau) - those two; अब्रूताम् (abrūtām) - said; तदा (tadā) - then; हृष्टौ (hṛṣṭau) - joyful; राजानम् (rājānam) - to the king; पृथिवीपतिम् (pṛthivīpatim) - lord of the earth;]
(Thus spoken, those two great souls, both Keshava and Pandava, then joyfully said to the king, the lord of the earth.)
Having spoken thus, the two great souls, Keshava and Pandava, joyfully addressed the king, the lord of the earth.
तव कोपाग्निना दग्धः पापो राजा जयद्रथः। उदीर्णं चापि सुमहद्धार्तराष्ट्रबलं रणे ॥७-१२४-२०॥
tava kopāgninā dagdhaḥ pāpo rājā jayadrathaḥ। udīrṇaṃ cāpi sumahaddhārtarāṣṭrabalaṃ raṇe ॥7-124-20॥
[तव (tava) - your; कोपाग्निना (kopāgninā) - by the fire of anger; दग्धः (dagdhaḥ) - burned; पापः (pāpaḥ) - sinful; राजा (rājā) - king; जयद्रथः (jayadrathaḥ) - Jayadratha; उदीर्णं (udīrṇam) - risen; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; सुमहत् (sumahat) - very great; धार्तराष्ट्रबलं (dhārtarāṣṭrabalam) - the Kaurava army; रणे (raṇe) - in battle;]
(By your fire of anger, the sinful king Jayadratha was burned; and also the very great Kaurava army rose in battle.)
Due to your wrath, the sinful King Jayadratha was destroyed, and the mighty Kaurava army was also stirred in battle.
हन्यते निहतं चैव विनङ्क्ष्यति च भारत। तव क्रोधहता ह्येते कौरवाः शत्रुसूदन ॥७-१२४-२१॥
hanyate nihataṃ caiva vinaṅkṣyati ca bhārata। tava krodhahatā hyete kauravāḥ śatrusūdana ॥7-124-21॥
[हन्यते (hanyate) - is killed; निहतम् (nihatam) - slain; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; विनङ्क्ष्यति (vinaṅkṣyati) - will perish; च (ca) - and; भारत (bhārata) - O Bharata; तव (tava) - your; क्रोधहता (krodhahatā) - overcome by anger; हि (hi) - indeed; एते (ete) - these; कौरवाः (kauravāḥ) - Kauravas; शत्रुसूदन (śatrusūdana) - O enemy-slayer;]
(Is killed, slain, and indeed will perish, O Bharata. Overcome by your anger, indeed these Kauravas, O enemy-slayer.)
O Bharata, these Kauravas, overcome by your anger, are indeed slain and will perish, O enemy-slayer.
त्वां हि चक्षुर्हणं वीरं कोपयित्वा सुयोधनः। समित्रबन्धुः समरे प्राणांस्त्यक्ष्यति दुर्मतिः ॥७-१२४-२२॥
tvāṃ hi cakṣurhaṇaṃ vīraṃ kopayitvā suyodhanaḥ। samitrabandhuḥ samare prāṇāṃstyakṣyati durmatiḥ ॥7-124-22॥
