Core and Pancharatra: Angered, Duryodhana pulls up Drona and Karna and asks them to fight properly. Drona and Karna fiercely attack Panchala army. Though Pandava army retreats initially, Bhima along with Satyaki rally the forces and charge from the front. The great night enveloped all as the Pandavas and Kauravas continued their fierce battle everywhere.

(Seeing his own army scattered and being slain by the great souls, your son, O lord of the people, was greatly possessed with anger.)
Upon witnessing his own forces scattered and being slaughtered by the great warriors, your son, O lord of the people, was overtaken by immense rage.
अभ्येत्य सहसा कर्णं द्रोणं च जयतां वरम्। अमर्षवशमापन्नो वाक्यज्ञो वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥७-१४७-२॥

Suddenly approaching Karna and Drona, the best among the victorious, he, overcome by anger and skilled in speech, spoke.
भवद्भ्यामिह सङ्ग्रामो क्रुद्धाभ्यां सम्प्रवर्तितः। आहवे निहतं दृष्ट्वा सैन्धवं सव्यसाचिना ॥७-१४७-३॥

निहन्यमानां पाण्डूनां बलेन मम वाहिनीम्। भूत्वा तद्विजये शक्तावशक्ताविव पश्यतः ॥७-१४७-४॥

Observing my army being decimated by the might of the Pāṇḍavas, it seemed as if I was both capable and incapable in that victory.
यद्यहं भवतोस्त्याज्यो न वाच्योऽस्मि तदैव हि। आवां पाण्डुसुतान्सङ्ख्ये जेष्याव इति मानदौ ॥७-१४७-५॥
yadyahaṁ bhavatostyājyo na vācyo'smi tadaiva hi। āvāṁ pāṇḍusutānsaṅkhye jeṣyāva iti mānadau ॥7-147-5॥

(Others abandon sons, others abandon fathers, others abandon brothers, and maternal uncles, nephews, friends, also relatives and kinsmen, hurriedly go desiring life.)
In their desire to save their own lives, people hurriedly abandon their sons, fathers, brothers, maternal uncles, nephews, friends, relatives, and kinsmen.
अपरे मोहिता मोहात्तमेवाभिमुखा ययुः। पाण्डवानां रणे योधाः परलोकं तथापरे ॥७-१४७-१७॥

(Others, deluded by delusion, indeed facing that, went. The warriors of the Pandavas in battle went to the other world, thus others.)

सा तथा पाण्डवी सेना वध्यमाना महात्मभिः। निशि सम्प्राद्रवद्राजन्नुत्सृज्योल्काः सहस्रशः ॥७-१४७-१८॥
