Dhritarashtra spoke:
हतं दुर्योधनं दृष्ट्वा भीमसेनेन संयुगे। पाण्डवाः सृञ्जयाश्चैव किमकुर्वत सञ्जय ॥९-६०-१॥
hataṁ duryodhanaṁ dṛṣṭvā bhīmasenena saṁyuge। pāṇḍavāḥ sṛñjayāścaiva kimakurvata sañjaya ॥9-60-1॥

(Having seen Duryodhana killed by Bhimasena in battle, what did the Pandavas and the Srinjayas do, O Sanjaya?)
Upon witnessing the fall of Duryodhana at the hands of Bhimasena in the battle, what actions did the Pandavas and the Srinjayas take, O Sanjaya?

हतं दुर्योधनं दृष्ट्वा भीमसेनेन संयुगे। सिंहेनेव महाराज मत्तं वनगजं वने ॥९-६०-२॥
hataṁ duryodhanaṁ dṛṣṭvā bhīmasenena saṁyuge। siṁheneva mahārāja mattaṁ vanagajaṁ vane ॥9-60-2॥
[हतं (hataṁ) - killed; दुर्योधनं (duryodhanaṁ) - Duryodhana; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; भीमसेनेन (bhīmasenena) - by Bhimasena; संयुगे (saṁyuge) - in battle; सिंहेन (siṁhena) - by a lion; इव (iva) - like; महाराज (mahārāja) - O great king; मत्तं (mattaṁ) - intoxicated; वनगजं (vanagajaṁ) - forest elephant; वने (vane) - in the forest;]
(Having seen Duryodhana killed in battle by Bhimasena, like a lion (kills) an intoxicated forest elephant in the forest, O great king.)
O great king, having witnessed Bhimasena slay Duryodhana in battle, it was akin to a lion overpowering an intoxicated elephant in the forest.
प्रहृष्टमनसस्तत्र कृष्णेन सह पाण्डवाः। पाञ्चालाः सृञ्जयाश्चैव निहते कुरुनन्दने ॥९-६०-३॥
prahṛṣṭamanasastatra kṛṣṇena saha pāṇḍavāḥ। pāñcālāḥ sṛñjayāścaiva nihate kurunandane ॥9-60-3॥
[प्रहृष्ट (prahṛṣṭa) - joyful; मनसः (manasaḥ) - minds; तत्र (tatra) - there; कृष्णेन (kṛṣṇena) - with Krishna; सह (saha) - with; पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - Pandavas; पाञ्चालाः (pāñcālāḥ) - Panchalas; सृञ्जयाः (sṛñjayāḥ) - Srinjayas; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; निहते (nihate) - slain; कुरुनन्दने (kurunandane) - Kuru's joy;]
(There, with joyful minds, the Pandavas, Panchalas, and Srinjayas were with Krishna, indeed, after the slaying of Kuru's joy.)
The Pandavas, Panchalas, and Srinjayas, with joyful hearts, were there with Krishna, celebrating the fall of the Kuru prince.
आविध्यन्नुत्तरीयाणि सिंहनादांश्च नेदिरे। नैतान्हर्षसमाविष्टानियं सेहे वसुन्धरा ॥९-६०-४॥
āvidhyannuttarīyāṇi siṃhanādāṃśca nedire। naitānharṣasamāviṣṭāniyaṃ sehe vasundharā ॥9-60-4॥
[आविध्यन् (āvidhyan) - waving; उत्तरीयाणि (uttarīyāṇi) - upper garments; सिंहनादान् (siṃhanādān) - lion roars; च (ca) - and; नेदिरे (nedire) - made; न (na) - not; एतान् (etān) - these; हर्ष (harṣa) - joy; समाविष्टानि (samāviṣṭāni) - filled; इयम् (iyam) - this; सेहे (sehe) - endured; वसुन्धरा (vasundharā) - earth;]
(Waving upper garments and making lion roars, these filled with joy, this earth did not endure.)
The earth could not endure the people waving their upper garments and making lion-like roars, filled with joy.
धनूंष्यन्ये व्याक्षिपन्त ज्याश्चाप्यन्ये तथाक्षिपन्। दध्मुरन्ये महाशङ्खानन्ये जघ्नुश्च दुन्दुभीः ॥९-६०-५॥
dhanūṃṣyanye vyākṣipanta jyāścāpyanye tathākṣipan। dadhmuranye mahāśaṅkhānanye jaghnuśca dundubhīḥ ॥9-60-5॥
[धनूंषि (dhanūṃṣi) - bows; अन्ये (anye) - others; व्याक्षिपन्त (vyākṣipanta) - stretched; ज्याः (jyāḥ) - bowstrings; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; अन्ये (anye) - others; तथा (tathā) - thus; अक्षिपन् (akṣipan) - threw; दध्मुः (dadhmuḥ) - blew; अन्ये (anye) - others; महाशङ्खान् (mahāśaṅkhān) - great conches; अन्ये (anye) - others; जघ्नुः (jaghnuḥ) - struck; च (ca) - and; दुन्दुभीः (dundubhīḥ) - drums;]
(Others stretched bows, and others also threw bowstrings. Others blew great conches, and others struck drums.)
Some stretched their bows and others threw their bowstrings. Some blew mighty conches while others beat drums.
चिक्रीडुश्च तथैवान्ये जहसुश्च तवाहिताः। अब्रुवंश्चासकृद्वीरा भीमसेनमिदं वचः ॥९-६०-६॥
cikrīḍuśca tathaivānye jahasuśca tavāhitāḥ। abruvaṃścāsakṛdvīrā bhīmasenamidaṃ vacaḥ ॥9-60-6॥
[चिक्रीडुः (cikrīḍuḥ) - played; च (ca) - and; तथा (tathā) - thus; एव (eva) - indeed; अन्ये (anye) - others; जहसुः (jahasuḥ) - laughed; च (ca) - and; तव (tava) - your; अहिताः (ahitāḥ) - enemies; अब्रुवन् (abruvan) - said; च (ca) - and; असकृत् (asakṛt) - repeatedly; वीराः (vīrāḥ) - heroes; भीमसेनम् (bhīmasenam) - Bhimasena; इदम् (idam) - this; वचः (vacaḥ) - words;]
(Played and thus indeed others laughed and your enemies said and repeatedly heroes Bhimasena this words.)
The others, including your enemies, played and laughed, and the heroes repeatedly said these words to Bhimasena.
दुष्करं भवता कर्म रणेऽद्य सुमहत्कृतम्। कौरवेन्द्रं रणे हत्वा गदयातिकृतश्रमम् ॥९-६०-७॥
duṣkaraṃ bhavatā karma raṇe'dya sumahatkṛtam। kauravendraṃ raṇe hatvā gadayātikṛtaśramam ॥9-60-7॥
[दुष्करम् (duṣkaram) - difficult; भवता (bhavatā) - by you; कर्म (karma) - deed; रणे (raṇe) - in battle; अद्य (adya) - today; सुमहत् (sumahat) - very great; कृतम् (kṛtam) - done; कौरवेन्द्रम् (kauravendram) - Kaurava king; रणे (raṇe) - in battle; हत्वा (hatvā) - having slain; गदया (gadayā) - with a mace; अतिकृतश्रमम् (atikṛtaśramam) - having exerted greatly;]
(A difficult deed has been done by you today in battle; having slain the Kaurava king in battle with a mace, having exerted greatly.)
Today, you have accomplished a very difficult task in battle by slaying the Kaurava king with a mace, exerting yourself greatly.
इन्द्रेणेव हि वृत्रस्य वधं परमसंयुगे। त्वया कृतममन्यन्त शत्रोर्वधमिमं जनाः ॥९-६०-८॥
indreṇeva hi vṛtrasya vadhaṃ paramasaṃyuge। tvayā kṛtamamanyanta śatrorvadhamimaṃ janāḥ ॥9-60-8॥
[इन्द्रेण (indreṇa) - by Indra; इव (iva) - like; हि (hi) - indeed; वृत्रस्य (vṛtrasya) - of Vṛtra; वधं (vadham) - killing; परमसंयुगे (paramasaṃyuge) - in the great battle; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; कृतम् (kṛtam) - done; अमन्यन्त (amanyanta) - thought; शत्रोः (śatroḥ) - of the enemy; वधम् (vadham) - killing; इमं (imam) - this; जनाः (janāḥ) - people;]
(Indeed, like the killing of Vṛtra by Indra in the great battle, this killing of the enemy was thought to be done by you by the people.)
The people indeed thought that this act of killing the enemy was done by you, just like Indra's slaying of Vṛtra in the great battle.
चरन्तं विविधान्मार्गान्मण्डलानि च सर्वशः। दुर्योधनमिमं शूरं कोऽन्यो हन्याद्वृकोदरात् ॥९-६०-९॥
carantaṁ vividhānmārgānmaṇḍalāni ca sarvaśaḥ। duryodhanamimaṁ śūraṁ ko'nyo hanyādvṛkodarāt ॥9-60-9॥
[चरन्तं (carantam) - wandering; विविधान् (vividhān) - various; मार्गान् (mārgān) - paths; मण्डलानि (maṇḍalāni) - circles; च (ca) - and; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - everywhere; दुर्योधनम् (duryodhanam) - Duryodhana; इमं (imam) - this; शूरं (śūram) - hero; कः (kaḥ) - who; अन्यः (anyaḥ) - else; हन्यात् (hanyāt) - could kill; वृकोदरात् (vṛkodarāt) - than Vrikodara;]
(Wandering various paths and circles everywhere, who else could kill this hero Duryodhana than Vrikodara?)
As Duryodhana wanders through various paths and circles, who else but Vrikodara could defeat this valiant hero?
वैरस्य च गतः पारं त्वमिहान्यैः सुदुर्गमम्। अशक्यमेतदन्येन सम्पादयितुमीदृशम् ॥९-६०-१०॥
vairasya ca gataḥ pāraṃ tvamihānyaiḥ sudurgamam। aśakyametadanyena sampādayitumīdṛśam ॥9-60-10॥
[वैरस्य (vairasya) - of enmity; च (ca) - and; गतः (gataḥ) - gone; पारं (pāram) - beyond; त्वम् (tvam) - you; इह (iha) - here; अन्यैः (anyaiḥ) - by others; सुदुर्गमम् (sudurgamam) - very difficult; अशक्यम् (aśakyam) - impossible; एतत् (etat) - this; अन्येन (anyena) - by another; सम्पादयितुम् (sampādayitum) - to accomplish; ईदृशम् (īdṛśam) - such; ॥९-६०-१०॥ (॥9-60-10॥) - (verse number);]
(You have gone beyond enmity, which is very difficult for others here. This cannot be accomplished by another in such a manner.)
You have transcended enmity, achieving what is extremely difficult for others here. Such a feat cannot be accomplished by anyone else.
कुञ्जरेणेव मत्तेन वीर सङ्ग्राममूर्धनि। दुर्योधनशिरो दिष्ट्या पादेन मृदितं त्वया ॥९-६०-११॥
kuñjareṇeva mattena vīra saṅgrāmamūrdhani। duryodhanaśiro diṣṭyā pādena mṛditaṃ tvayā ॥9-60-11॥
[कुञ्जरेण (kuñjareṇa) - by the elephant; इव (iva) - like; मत्तेन (mattena) - intoxicated; वीर (vīra) - O hero; सङ्ग्राम (saṅgrāma) - battle; मूर्धनि (mūrdhani) - at the head; दुर्योधन (duryodhana) - Duryodhana's; शिरः (śiraḥ) - head; दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - fortunately; पादेन (pādena) - by the foot; मृदितं (mṛditaṃ) - crushed; त्वया (tvayā) - by you;]
(Like an intoxicated elephant at the head of the battle, fortunately, Duryodhana's head was crushed by your foot, O hero.)
O hero, like an intoxicated elephant in the forefront of the battle, you have fortunately crushed Duryodhana's head with your foot.
सिंहेन महिषस्येव कृत्वा सङ्गरमद्भुतम्। दुःशासनस्य रुधिरं दिष्ट्या पीतं त्वयानघ ॥९-६०-१२॥
siṃhena mahiṣasyeva kṛtvā saṅgaramadbhutam। duḥśāsanasya rudhiraṃ diṣṭyā pītaṃ tvayānagha ॥9-60-12॥
[सिंहेन (siṃhena) - by the lion; महिषस्य (mahiṣasya) - of the buffalo; इव (iva) - like; कृत्वा (kṛtvā) - having made; सङ्गरम् (saṅgaram) - battle; अद्भुतम् (adbhutam) - wonderful; दुःशासनस्य (duḥśāsanasya) - of Duhshasana; रुधिरं (rudhiraṃ) - blood; दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - fortunately; पीतं (pītaṃ) - drunk; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; अनघ (anagha) - O sinless one;]
(By the lion, like of the buffalo, having made a wonderful battle, the blood of Duhshasana, fortunately drunk by you, O sinless one.)
Like a lion in a wonderful battle with a buffalo, you have fortunately drunk the blood of Duhshasana, O sinless one.
ये विप्रकुर्वन्राजानं धर्मात्मानं युधिष्ठिरम्। मूर्ध्नि तेषां कृतः पादो दिष्ट्या ते स्वेन कर्मणा ॥९-६०-१३॥
ye viprakurvanrājānaṃ dharmātmānaṃ yudhiṣṭhiram। mūrdhni teṣāṃ kṛtaḥ pādo diṣṭyā te svena karmaṇā ॥9-60-13॥
[ये (ye) - those who; विप्रकुर्वन् (viprakurvan) - offending; राजानं (rājānaṃ) - the king; धर्मात्मानं (dharmātmānaṃ) - righteous; युधिष्ठिरम् (yudhiṣṭhiram) - Yudhishthira; मूर्ध्नि (mūrdhni) - on the head; तेषां (teṣāṃ) - of them; कृतः (kṛtaḥ) - placed; पादः (pādaḥ) - foot; दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - fortunately; ते (te) - your; स्वेन (svena) - by own; कर्मणा (karmaṇā) - by action;]
(Those who offend the righteous king Yudhishthira, their head is placed under the foot, fortunately by your own action.)
Those who offend the righteous King Yudhishthira have their heads placed under his foot, thanks to their own actions.
अमित्राणामधिष्ठानाद्वधाद्दुर्योधनस्य च। भीम दिष्ट्या पृथिव्यां ते प्रथितं सुमहद्यशः ॥९-६०-१४॥
amitrāṇām adhiṣṭhānād vadhād duryodhanasya ca। bhīma diṣṭyā pṛthivyāṃ te prathitaṃ sumahad yaśaḥ ॥9-60-14॥
[अमित्राणाम् (amitrāṇām) - of enemies; अधिष्ठानात् (adhiṣṭhānāt) - from the seat; वधात् (vadhāt) - from the killing; दुर्योधनस्य (duryodhanasya) - of Duryodhana; च (ca) - and; भीम (bhīma) - Bhima; दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - by fortune; पृथिव्यां (pṛthivyāṃ) - on earth; ते (te) - your; प्रथितं (prathitaṃ) - spread; सुमहत् (sumahat) - great; यशः (yaśaḥ) - fame;]
(From the seat of enemies and from the killing of Duryodhana, Bhima, by fortune, your great fame is spread on earth.)
O Bhima, by fortune, your great fame is spread on earth due to the defeat of enemies and the killing of Duryodhana.
एवं नूनं हते वृत्रे शक्रं नन्दन्ति बन्दिनः। तथा त्वां निहतामित्रं वयं नन्दाम भारत ॥९-६०-१५॥
evaṁ nūnaṁ hate vṛtre śakraṁ nandanti bandinaḥ। tathā tvāṁ nihatāmitraṁ vayaṁ nandāma bhārata ॥9-60-15॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; नूनम् (nūnam) - indeed; हते (hate) - slain; वृत्रे (vṛtre) - Vritra; शक्रम् (śakram) - Indra; नन्दन्ति (nandanti) - rejoice; बन्दिनः (bandinaḥ) - bards; तथा (tathā) - so; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; निहतामित्रम् (nihatāmitram) - enemy slain; वयम् (vayam) - we; नन्दाम (nandāma) - rejoice; भारत (bhārata) - O Bharata;]
(Thus indeed, when Vritra is slain, the bards rejoice in Indra. So, when your enemy is slain, we rejoice, O Bharata.)
"Thus, when Vritra is slain, the bards rejoice in Indra. Similarly, O Bharata, when your enemy is defeated, we too rejoice."
दुर्योधनवधे यानि रोमाणि हृषितानि नः। अद्यापि न विहृष्यन्ति तानि तद्विद्धि भारत ॥ इत्यब्रुवन्भीमसेनं वातिकास्तत्र सङ्गताः ॥९-६०-१६॥
duryodhanavadhe yāni romāṇi hṛṣitāni naḥ। adyāpi na vihṛṣyanti tāni tadviddhi bhārata ॥ ityabruvanbhīmasenaṃ vātikāstatra saṅgatāḥ ॥9-60-16॥
[दुर्योधनवधे (duryodhanavadhe) - in the killing of Duryodhana; यानि (yāni) - which; रोमाणि (romāṇi) - hairs; हृषितानि (hṛṣitāni) - stood on end; नः (naḥ) - our; अद्यापि (adyāpi) - even today; न (na) - not; विहृष्यन्ति (vihṛṣyanti) - stand on end; तानि (tāni) - those; तद्विद्धि (tadviddhi) - know that; भारत (bhārata) - O Bharata; इति (iti) - thus; अब्रुवन् (abruvan) - said; भीमसेनं (bhīmasenaṃ) - to Bhimasena; वातिकाः (vātikāḥ) - the ascetics; तत्र (tatra) - there; सङ्गताः (saṅgatāḥ) - assembled;]
(In the killing of Duryodhana, the hairs which stood on end for us do not stand on end even today; know that, O Bharata. Thus spoke the ascetics assembled there to Bhimasena.)
The ascetics gathered there told Bhimasena that the thrill we felt during the killing of Duryodhana is no longer felt today, O Bharata.
तान्हृष्टान्पुरुषव्याघ्रान्पाञ्चालान्पाण्डवैः सह। ब्रुवतः सदृशं तत्र प्रोवाच मधुसूदनः ॥९-६०-१७॥
tānhṛṣṭānpuruṣavyāghrānpāñcālānpāṇḍavaiḥ saha। bruvataḥ sadṛśaṃ tatra provāca madhusūdanaḥ ॥9-60-17॥
[तान् (tān) - them; हृष्टान् (hṛṣṭān) - joyful; पुरुषव्याघ्रान् (puruṣavyāghrān) - tiger-like men; पाञ्चालान् (pāñcālān) - Panchalas; पाण्डवैः (pāṇḍavaiḥ) - with Pandavas; सह (saha) - with; ब्रुवतः (bruvataḥ) - speaking; सदृशं (sadṛśam) - appropriate; तत्र (tatra) - there; प्रोवाच (provāca) - said; मधुसूदनः (madhusūdanaḥ) - Madhusudana;]
(Them, joyful, tiger-like men, Panchalas, with Pandavas, speaking appropriately there, Madhusudana said.)
Madhusudana addressed the joyful Panchalas, who were like tigers among men, along with the Pandavas, speaking appropriately there.
न न्याय्यं निहतः शत्रुर्भूयो हन्तुं जनाधिपाः। असकृद्वाग्भिरुग्राभिर्निहतो ह्येष मन्दधीः ॥९-६०-१८॥
na nyāyyaṃ nihataḥ śatrurbhūyo hantuṃ janādhipāḥ। asakṛdvāgbhirugrābhirnihato hyeṣa mandadhīḥ ॥9-60-18॥
[न (na) - not; न्याय्यम् (nyāyyam) - justly; निहतः (nihataḥ) - killed; शत्रुः (śatruḥ) - enemy; भूयः (bhūyaḥ) - again; हन्तुम् (hantum) - to kill; जनाधिपाः (janādhipāḥ) - kings; असकृत् (asakṛt) - repeatedly; वाग्भिः (vāgbhiḥ) - by words; उग्राभिः (ugrābhiḥ) - harsh; निहतः (nihataḥ) - killed; हि (hi) - indeed; एषः (eṣaḥ) - this; मन्दधीः (mandadhīḥ) - foolish;]
(The enemy is not justly killed again by the kings. This foolish one is indeed killed repeatedly by harsh words.)
The kings should not kill the enemy again unjustly. This foolish person has already been killed many times by harsh words.
तदैवैष हतः पापो यदैव निरपत्रपः। लुब्धः पापसहायश्च सुहृदां शासनातिगः ॥९-६०-१९॥
tadaivaiṣa hataḥ pāpo yadaiva nirapatrapaḥ। lubdhaḥ pāpasahāyaśca suhṛdāṃ śāsanātigaḥ ॥9-60-19॥
[तदा (tadā) - then; एव (eva) - indeed; एषः (eṣaḥ) - this; हतः (hataḥ) - killed; पापः (pāpaḥ) - sinner; यदा (yadā) - when; एव (eva) - indeed; निरपत्रपः (nirapatrapaḥ) - shameless; लुब्धः (lubdhaḥ) - greedy; पापसहायः (pāpasahāyaḥ) - evil companion; च (ca) - and; सुहृदाम् (suhṛdām) - of friends; शासनातिगः (śāsanātigaḥ) - transgressor of commands;]
(Then indeed, this sinner is killed when he is shameless, greedy, an evil companion, and a transgressor of the commands of friends.)
At that very moment, this sinner meets his end when he becomes shameless, greedy, aligns with evil companions, and defies the commands of his friends.
बहुशो विदुरद्रोणकृपगाङ्गेयसृञ्जयैः। पाण्डुभ्यः प्रोच्यमानोऽपि पित्र्यमंशं न दत्तवान् ॥९-६०-२०॥
bahuśo viduradroṇakṛpagāṅgeyasṛñjayaiḥ। pāṇḍubhyaḥ procyamāno'pi pitryamaṁśaṁ na dattavān ॥9-60-20॥
[बहुशः (bahuśaḥ) - many times; विदुर (vidura) - Vidura; द्रोण (droṇa) - Drona; कृप (kṛpa) - Kripa; गाङ्गेय (gāṅgeya) - Bhishma; सृञ्जयैः (sṛñjayaiḥ) - by the sons of Sṛñjaya; पाण्डुभ्यः (pāṇḍubhyaḥ) - to the Pandavas; प्रोच्यमानः (procyamānaḥ) - being repeatedly told; अपि (api) - even; पित्र्यम् (pitryam) - paternal; अंशम् (aṁśam) - share; न (na) - not; दत्तवान् (dattavān) - gave.;]
(Even though repeatedly told by Vidura, Drona, Kripa, Bhishma, and the sons of Sṛñjaya, he did not give the paternal share to the Pandavas.)
Despite being repeatedly urged by Vidura, Drona, Kripa, Bhishma, and the sons of Sṛñjaya, he refused to give the Pandavas their rightful paternal share.
नैष योग्योऽद्य मित्रं वा शत्रुर्वा पुरुषाधमः। किमनेनातिनुन्नेन वाग्भिः काष्ठसधर्मणा ॥९-६०-२१॥

(Having heard of the unrighteous killing, they, being grief-stricken, lamented Bhishma, Drona, Karna, and also Bhurishravas.)
Upon hearing of the unjust deaths, they were overwhelmed with sorrow and mourned for Bhishma, Drona, Karna, and Bhurishravas.
तांस्तु चिन्तापरान्दृष्ट्वा पाण्डवान्दीनचेतसः। प्रोवाचेदं वचः कृष्णो मेघदुन्दुभिनिस्वनः ॥९-६०-५६॥

नैष शक्योऽतिशीघ्रास्त्रस्ते च सर्वे महारथाः। ऋजुयुद्धेन विक्रान्ता हन्तुं युष्माभिराहवे ॥९-६०-५७॥
naiṣa śakyo'tiśīghrāstraste ca sarve mahārathāḥ। ṛjuyuddhena vikrāntā hantuṃ yuṣmābhirāhave ॥9-60-57॥

(This very swift weapon, and all the great warriors, cannot be killed by you in direct combat in battle.)

उपाया विहिता ह्येते मया तस्मान्नराधिपाः। अन्यथा पाण्डवेयानां नाभविष्यज्जयः क्वचित् ॥९-६०-५८॥

(Means have indeed been arranged by me, therefore, O kings, otherwise, there would not have been victory anywhere for the Pandavas.)

ते हि सर्वे महात्मानश्चत्वारोऽतिरथा भुवि। न शक्या धर्मतो हन्तुं लोकपालैरपि स्वयम् ॥९-६०-५९॥

(They indeed are all great souls, four great charioteers on earth. Not possible by righteousness to kill by the protectors of the world even themselves.)

कृतकृत्याः स्म सायाह्ने निवासं रोचयामहे। साश्वनागरथाः सर्वे विश्रमामो नराधिपाः ॥९-६०-६३॥
kṛtakṛtyāḥ sma sāyāhne nivāsaṃ rocayāmahe। sāśvanāgarathāḥ sarve viśramāmo narādhipāḥ ॥9-60-63॥
[कृतकृत्याः (kṛtakṛtyāḥ) - having accomplished duties; स्म (sma) - indeed; सायाह्ने (sāyāhne) - in the evening; निवासं (nivāsaṃ) - residence; रोचयामहे (rocayāmahe) - we arrange; साश्वनागरथाः (sāśvanāgarathāḥ) - with horses, elephants, and chariots; सर्वे (sarve) - all; विश्रमामः (viśramāmaḥ) - we rest; नराधिपाः (narādhipāḥ) - kings;]
(Having accomplished duties, indeed, we arrange residence in the evening. With horses, elephants, and chariots, all kings rest.)
Having fulfilled our duties, we arrange for our stay in the evening. All the kings, along with their horses, elephants, and chariots, take rest.
वासुदेववचः श्रुत्वा तदानीं पाण्डवैः सह। पाञ्चाला भृशसंहृष्टा विनेदुः सिंहसङ्घवत् ॥९-६०-६४॥
vāsudevavacaḥ śrutvā tadānīṃ pāṇḍavaiḥ saha। pāñcālā bhṛśasaṃhṛṣṭā vineduḥ siṃhasaṅghavat ॥9-60-64॥
[वासुदेव (vāsudeva) - Vasudeva; वचः (vacaḥ) - words; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; तदानीम् (tadānīm) - then; पाण्डवैः (pāṇḍavaiḥ) - with the Pandavas; सह (saha) - together; पाञ्चाला (pāñcālā) - the Panchalas; भृशसंहृष्टा (bhṛśasaṃhṛṣṭā) - very delighted; विनेदुः (vineduḥ) - roared; सिंहसङ्घवत् (siṃhasaṅghavat) - like a pride of lions;]
(Having heard the words of Vasudeva, then, together with the Pandavas, the Panchalas, very delighted, roared like a pride of lions.)
Upon hearing the words of Vasudeva, the Panchalas, along with the Pandavas, were extremely delighted and roared together like a pride of lions.
ततः प्राध्मापयञ्शङ्खान्पाञ्चजन्यं च माधवः। हृष्टा दुर्योधनं दृष्ट्वा निहतं पुरुषर्षभाः ॥९-६०-६५॥
tataḥ prādhmāpayañśaṅkhānpāñcajanyaṃ ca mādhavaḥ। hṛṣṭā duryodhanaṃ dṛṣṭvā nihataṃ puruṣarṣabhāḥ ॥9-60-65॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; प्राध्मापयन् (prādhmāpayān) - blew; शङ्खान् (śaṅkhān) - conches; पाञ्चजन्यं (pāñcajanyaṃ) - Panchajanya; च (ca) - and; माधवः (mādhavaḥ) - Madhava; हृष्टा (hṛṣṭā) - joyful; दुर्योधनं (duryodhanaṃ) - Duryodhana; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - seeing; निहतं (nihataṃ) - slain; पुरुषर्षभाः (puruṣarṣabhāḥ) - bulls among men;]
(Then Madhava blew the conches, including Panchajanya, joyful after seeing Duryodhana slain, the bulls among men.)
Then Madhava, joyful at the sight of Duryodhana's defeat, blew the conches, including his own Panchajanya, as the warriors celebrated their victory.
