The messenger said.
The food prepared by King Drupada for the people and for the marriage ceremony—having accomplished all duties, you all may partake of it; and Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) should not stay there for long.
These are chariots adorned with golden lotuses, yoked with excellent horses, fit for a king. Let all mount these and proceed to the residence of the king of the Pāñcālas.
Vaiśampāyana said.
Then the foremost of the Kurus, after sending the priest ahead, set out. Kuntī and Kṛṣṇā also went together, having mounted those great vehicles.
O Bhārata, having listened to the words spoken by the priest, the king of dharma, out of curiosity, then gathered many possessions belonging to the foremost of the Kurus.
Fruits, garlands, well-prepared items; hides, armors, and seats as well. Cows, O king, and also ropes and other materials for agricultural purposes.
The king brought together all things prepared in other arts and whatever else there was, as well as all things meant for play, entirely there.
Chariots, horses, armours, and shining weapons; great swords, variegated horses and chariots. Bows and excellent arrows, chief among them; lances and spears adorned with gold.
There were javelins, slings, and battle-axes, as well as all kinds of battle equipment. There were also well-prepared beds and seats, and various kinds of seats there.
But Kuntī, having embraced Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī), the virtuous lady, entered Drupada's inner apartments. The women there, noble in spirit, honored her, the wife of the Kaurava king.
He saw those men, moving with the courage of lions, with eyes like great bulls, clad in animal-skin upper garments, their shoulders concealed, their arms long and coiled like the king of serpents—heroes among men.
The king, all his ministers, sons, friends, and every servant, O king, were all filled with immense joy there.
There, those heroes, the foremost of men, entered the excellent seats with footstools in due order, without hesitation, and then, seated on the very costly seats, they were not astonished.
High and low varieties of food suitable for kings were served in golden and silver vessels; well-dressed male and female servants, along with food preparers, also brought the food.
The heroes among men, having enjoyed themselves there, were exceedingly satisfied according to their desires. Leaving all their possessions there, the warrior-heroes entered the battlefield.
Having noticed this, Drupada's son, the king, along with all the chief ministers, joyfully approached and honored the sons of Kunti, as well as the sons and grandsons of kings.
