Core-Pancharatra: Vidura invites Pandavas to Hastinapura.
धृतराष्ट्र उवाच॥
Dhṛtarāṣṭra said:
भीष्मः शान्तनवो विद्वान्द्रोणश्च भगवानृषिः। हितं परमकं वाक्यं त्वं च सत्यं ब्रवीषि माम् ॥१-१९८-१॥
Bhīṣma, the wise son of Śāntanu, Droṇa, and the venerable sage, you speak to me the most beneficial and truthful words.
यथैव पाण्डोस्ते वीराः कुन्तीपुत्रा महारथाः। तथैव धर्मतः सर्वे मम पुत्रा न संशयः ॥१-१९८-२॥
Just as those sons of Kuntī, the mighty warriors, are truly the sons of Pāṇḍu, so too, by righteousness, all my sons are the same; there is no doubt about this.
यथैव मम पुत्राणामिदं राज्यं विधीयते। तथैव पाण्डुपुत्राणामिदं राज्यं न संशयः ॥१-१९८-३॥
Just as this kingdom is established for my sons, so also, without doubt, this kingdom is established for the sons of Paṇḍu.
क्षत्तरानय गच्छैतान्सह मात्रा सुसत्कृतान्। तया च देवरूपिण्या कृष्णया सह भारत ॥१-१९८-४॥
O Bhārata, O charioteer, bring these well-honored ones along with their mother, and together with her, who is goddess-like, with Kṛṣṇā.
दिष्ट्या जीवन्ति ते पार्था दिष्ट्या जीवति सा पृथा। दिष्ट्या द्रुपदकन्यां च लब्धवन्तो महारथाः ॥१-१९८-५॥
By good fortune, your sons, O Pārtha, are alive; by good fortune, Kuntī herself is alive. By good fortune, the great chariot-warriors have also won Draupadī, the daughter of Drupada.
दिष्ट्या वर्धामहे सर्वे दिष्ट्या शान्तः पुरोचनः। दिष्ट्या मम परं दुःखमपनीतं महाद्युते ॥१-१९८-६॥
By good fortune, we all prosper; by good fortune, Purocana has been pacified; by good fortune, my greatest suffering has been removed, O greatly illustrious one.
वैशम्पायन उवाच॥
Vaiśampāyana said.
ततो जगाम विदुरो धृतराष्ट्रस्य शासनात्। सकाशं यज्ञसेनस्य पाण्डवानां च भारत ॥१-१९८-७॥
Then, O Bhārata, Vidura, following Dhṛtarāṣṭra's command, went to Yajñasena and the Pāṇḍavas.
तत्र गत्वा स धर्मज्ञः सर्वशास्त्रविशारदः। द्रुपदं न्यायतो राजन्संयुक्तमुपतस्थिवान् ॥१-१९८-८॥
There, having gone, he who knows dharma and is expert in all śāstras, approached Drupada in accordance with justice, O king, together with others.
स चापि प्रतिजग्राह धर्मेण विदुरं ततः। चक्रतुश्च यथान्यायं कुशलप्रश्नसंविदम् ॥१-१९८-९॥
He too received Vidura righteously, and then they both exchanged polite inquiries according to proper custom.
ददर्श पाण्डवांस्तत्र वासुदेवं च भारत। स्नेहात्परिष्वज्य स तान्पप्रच्छानामयं ततः ॥१-१९८-१०॥
O Bhārata, he saw the Pāṇḍavas and Vāsudeva there. Out of affection, he embraced them and then inquired about their well-being.
तैश्चाप्यमितबुद्धिः स पूजितोऽथ यथाक्रमम्। वचनाद्धृतराष्ट्रस्य स्नेहयुक्तं पुनः पुनः ॥१-१९८-११॥
He of immeasurable intellect was also honored by them in due order; at the affectionate command of Dhritarashtra, he was repeatedly honored again and again.
पप्रच्छानामयं राजंस्ततस्तान्पाण्डुनन्दनान्। प्रददौ चापि रत्नानि विविधानि वसूनि च ॥१-१९८-१२॥
He inquired about the well-being, O king, and then gave those sons of Pāṇḍu various gems and treasures.
पाण्डवानां च कुन्त्याश्च द्रौपद्याश्च विशां पते। द्रुपदस्य च पुत्राणां यथा दत्तानि कौरवैः ॥१-१९८-१३॥
O lord of kings, the gifts that were given by the Kauravas to the Pāṇḍavas, to Kuntī, to Draupadī, and to the sons of Drupada;
प्रोवाच चामितमतिः प्रश्रितं विनयान्वितः। द्रुपदं पाण्डुपुत्राणां संनिधौ केशवस्य च ॥१-१९८-१४॥
The one of boundless intellect, with humility, addressed Drupada respectfully in the presence of the Pāṇḍavas and Keśava.
राजञ्शृणु सहामात्यः सपुत्रश्च वचो मम। धृतराष्ट्रः सपुत्रस्त्वां सहामात्यः सबान्धवः ॥१-१९८-१५॥
O king, listen to my words together with your ministers and sons. Dhritarashtra, accompanied by his sons, ministers, and relatives, addresses you.
अब्रवीत्कुशलं राजन्प्रीयमाणः पुनः पुनः। प्रीतिमांस्ते दृढं चापि सम्बन्धेन नराधिप ॥१-१९८-१६॥
He repeatedly expressed his well-wishing to you, O king, with affection and firmness, emphasizing the strength of your relationship, O lord of men.
तथा भीष्मः शान्तनवः कौरवैः सह सर्वशः। कुशलं त्वां महाप्राज्ञः सर्वतः परिपृच्छति ॥१-१९८-१७॥
Thus, Bhīṣma, the son of Śāntanu, together with all the Kauravas, inquires in every way about your well-being, O wise one, from all sides.
भारद्वाजो महेष्वासो द्रोणः प्रियसखस्तव। समाश्लेषमुपेत्य त्वां कुशलं परिपृच्छति ॥१-१९८-१८॥
Droṇa, the great archer and your dear friend, descendant of Bharadvāja, approached you with an embrace and inquired about your well-being.
धृतराष्ट्रश्च पाञ्चाल्य त्वया सम्बन्धमीयिवान्। कृतार्थं मन्यतेऽऽत्मानं तथा सर्वेऽपि कौरवाः ॥१-१९८-१९॥
Dhritarashtra and the son of Panchala (Draupadi), through your relationship, have become connected; having achieved their purpose, each considers himself fulfilled; likewise, all the Kauravas do as well.
न तथा राज्यसम्प्राप्तिस्तेषां प्रीतिकरी मता। यथा सम्बन्धकं प्राप्य यज्ञसेन त्वया सह ॥१-१९८-२०॥
The attainment of the kingdom is not considered as pleasing to them as obtaining the relative Yajñasena along with you.
एतद्विदित्वा तु भवान्प्रस्थापयतु पाण्डवान्। द्रष्टुं हि पाण्डुदायादांस्त्वरन्ते कुरवो भृशम् ॥१-१९८-२१॥
Having understood this, your honour should send the Pāṇḍavas, for the Kurus are eagerly hastening to see the sons of Pāṇḍu.
विप्रोषिता दीर्घकालमिमे चापि नरर्षभाः। उत्सुका नगरं द्रष्टुं भविष्यन्ति पृथा तथा ॥१-१९८-२२॥
These noble men, having been separated for a long time, will be eager to see the city; so too will Kuntī.
कृष्णामपि च पाञ्चालीं सर्वाः कुरुवरस्त्रियः। द्रष्टुकामाः प्रतीक्षन्ते पुरं च विषयं च नः ॥१-१९८-२३॥
All the noble Kuru women, eager to see Kṛṣṇā and Pāñcālī, are waiting for our city and land.
स भवान्पाण्डुपुत्राणामाज्ञापयतु माचिरम्। गमनं सहदाराणामेतदागमनं मम ॥१-१९८-२४॥
Your honor, let the sons of Pāṇḍu be commanded not to delay. Let them depart with their wives; this coming is mine.
विसृष्टेषु त्वया राजन्पाण्डवेषु महात्मसु। ततोऽहं प्रेषयिष्यामि धृतराष्ट्रस्य शीघ्रगान्॥ आगमिष्यन्ति कौन्तेयाः कुन्ती च सह कृष्णया॥१-१९८-२५॥
O king, after you have sent forth the great-souled Pāṇḍavas, I will then send Dhṛtarāṣṭra's swift messengers. The sons of Kuntī, and Kuntī herself together with Kṛṣṇā, will come.
