Core-Pancharatra: Vidura invites Pandavas to Hastinapura.
dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca॥
Dhṛtarāṣṭra said:
bhīṣmaḥ śāntanavo vidvān droṇaś ca bhagavān ṛṣiḥ। hitaṃ paramakaṃ vākyaṃ tvaṃ ca satyaṃ bravīṣi mām ॥1-198-1॥
Bhīṣma, the wise son of Śāntanu, Droṇa, and the venerable sage, you speak to me the most beneficial and truthful words.
yathaiva pāṇḍoste vīrāḥ kuntīputrā mahārathāḥ। tathaiva dharmataḥ sarve mama putrā na saṃśayaḥ ॥1-198-2॥
Just as those sons of Kuntī, the mighty warriors, are truly the sons of Pāṇḍu, so too, by righteousness, all my sons are the same; there is no doubt about this.
yathaiva mama putrāṇām idaṃ rājyaṃ vidhīyate। tathaiva pāṇḍuputrāṇām idaṃ rājyaṃ na saṃśayaḥ ॥1-198-3॥
Just as this kingdom is established for my sons, so also, without doubt, this kingdom is established for the sons of Paṇḍu.
kṣattarānaya gacchaitān saha mātrā susatkṛtān। tayā ca devarūpiṇyā kṛṣṇayā saha bhārata ॥1-198-4॥
O Bhārata, O charioteer, bring these well-honored ones along with their mother, and together with her, who is goddess-like, with Kṛṣṇā.
diṣṭyā jīvanti te pārthā diṣṭyā jīvati sā pṛthā। diṣṭyā drupadakanyāṃ ca labdhavanto mahārathāḥ ॥1-198-5॥
By good fortune, your sons, O Pārtha, are alive; by good fortune, Kuntī herself is alive. By good fortune, the great chariot-warriors have also won Draupadī, the daughter of Drupada.
diṣṭyā vardhāmahe sarve diṣṭyā śāntaḥ purocanaḥ। diṣṭyā mama paraṃ duḥkham apanītaṃ mahādyute ॥1-198-6॥
By good fortune, we all prosper; by good fortune, Purocana has been pacified; by good fortune, my greatest suffering has been removed, O greatly illustrious one.
vaiśampāyana uvāca॥
Vaiśampāyana said.
tato jagāma viduro dhṛtarāṣṭrasya śāsanāt। sakāśaṃ yajñasenasya pāṇḍavānāṃ ca bhārata ॥1-198-7॥
Then, O Bhārata, Vidura, following Dhṛtarāṣṭra's command, went to Yajñasena and the Pāṇḍavas.
tatra gatvā sa dharmajñaḥ sarvaśāstraviśāradaḥ। drupadaṃ nyāyato rājansaṃyuktamupatastivān ॥1-198-8॥
There, having gone, he who knows dharma and is expert in all śāstras, approached Drupada in accordance with justice, O king, together with others.
sa cāpi pratijagrāha dharmeṇa viduraṃ tataḥ। cakratuśca yathānyāyaṃ kuśalapraśnasaṃvidam ॥1-198-9॥
He too received Vidura righteously, and then they both exchanged polite inquiries according to proper custom.
dadarśa pāṇḍavāṃs tatra vāsudevaṃ ca bhārata। snehāt pariṣvajya sa tān papracchānāmayaṃ tataḥ ॥1-198-10॥
O Bhārata, he saw the Pāṇḍavas and Vāsudeva there. Out of affection, he embraced them and then inquired about their well-being.
taiś cāpy amitabuddhiḥ sa pūjito 'tha yathākramam। vacanād dhṛtarāṣṭrasya snehayuktaṃ punaḥ punaḥ ॥1-198-11॥
He of immeasurable intellect was also honored by them in due order; at the affectionate command of Dhritarashtra, he was repeatedly honored again and again.
papracchā nāmayaṃ rājaṃs tatas tān pāṇḍunandanān। pradadau cāpi ratnāni vividhāni vasūni ca ॥1-198-12॥
He inquired about the well-being, O king, and then gave those sons of Pāṇḍu various gems and treasures.
pāṇḍavānāṃ ca kuntyāśca draupadyāśca viśāṃ pate| drupadasya ca putrāṇāṃ yathā dattāni kauravaiḥ ॥1-198-13॥
O lord of kings, the gifts that were given by the Kauravas to the Pāṇḍavas, to Kuntī, to Draupadī, and to the sons of Drupada;
provāca cāmitamatiḥ praśritaṃ vinayānvitaḥ। drupadaṃ pāṇḍuputrāṇāṃ sannidhau keśavasya ca ॥1-198-14॥
The one of boundless intellect, with humility, addressed Drupada respectfully in the presence of the Pāṇḍavas and Keśava.
rājan śṛṇu sahāmātyaḥ saputraś ca vaco mama। dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ saputras tvāṃ sahāmātyaḥ sabāndhavaḥ ॥1-198-15॥
O king, listen to my words together with your ministers and sons. Dhritarashtra, accompanied by his sons, ministers, and relatives, addresses you.
abravīt kuśalaṃ rājan prīyamāṇaḥ punaḥ punaḥ। prītimāṃs te dṛḍhaṃ cāpi sambandhena narādhipa ॥1-198-16॥
He repeatedly expressed his well-wishing to you, O king, with affection and firmness, emphasizing the strength of your relationship, O lord of men.
tathā bhīṣmaḥ śāntanavaḥ kauravaiḥ saha sarvaśaḥ। kuśalaṃ tvāṃ mahāprājñaḥ sarvataḥ paripṛcchati ॥1-198-17॥
Thus, Bhīṣma, the son of Śāntanu, together with all the Kauravas, inquires in every way about your well-being, O wise one, from all sides.
bhāradvājo maheṣvāso droṇaḥ priyasakhastava। samāśleṣamupetya tvāṃ kuśalaṃ paripṛcchati ॥1-198-18॥
Droṇa, the great archer and your dear friend, descendant of Bharadvāja, approached you with an embrace and inquired about your well-being.
dhṛtarāṣṭraś ca pāñcālya tvayā sambandham īyivān। kṛtārthaṃ manyate''tmānaṃ tathā sarve'pi kauravāḥ ॥1-198-19॥
Dhritarashtra and the son of Panchala (Draupadi), through your relationship, have become connected; having achieved their purpose, each considers himself fulfilled; likewise, all the Kauravas do as well.
na tathā rājya-samprāptis-teṣāṃ prītikarī matā। yathā sambandhakaṃ prāpya yajñasena tvayā saha ॥1-198-20॥
The attainment of the kingdom is not considered as pleasing to them as obtaining the relative Yajñasena along with you.
etadviditvā tu bhavān prasthāpayatu pāṇḍavān। draṣṭuṃ hi pāṇḍudāyādāṃstvarante kuravo bhṛśam ॥1-198-21॥
Having understood this, your honour should send the Pāṇḍavas, for the Kurus are eagerly hastening to see the sons of Pāṇḍu.
viproṣitā dīrghakālam ime cāpi nararṣabhāḥ। utsukā nagaraṃ draṣṭuṃ bhaviṣyanti pṛthā tathā ॥1-198-22॥
These noble men, having been separated for a long time, will be eager to see the city; so too will Kuntī.
kṛṣṇām api ca pāñcālīṃ sarvāḥ kuruvarastriyaḥ। draṣṭukāmāḥ pratīkṣante puraṃ ca viṣayaṃ ca naḥ॥1-198-23॥
All the noble Kuru women, eager to see Kṛṣṇā and Pāñcālī, are waiting for our city and land.
sa bhavān pāṇḍu-putrāṇām ājñāpayatu mā ciram। gamanaṃ saha-dārāṇām etad-āgamanaṃ mama ॥1-198-24॥
Your honor, let the sons of Pāṇḍu be commanded not to delay. Let them depart with their wives; this coming is mine.
visṛṣṭeṣu tvayā rājan pāṇḍaveṣu mahātmasu। tato'haṃ preṣayiṣyāmi dhṛtarāṣṭrasya śīghragān॥ āgamiṣyanti kaunteyāḥ kuntī ca saha kṛṣṇayā॥1-198-25॥
O king, after you have sent forth the great-souled Pāṇḍavas, I will then send Dhṛtarāṣṭra's swift messengers. The sons of Kuntī, and Kuntī herself together with Kṛṣṇā, will come.
