Pancharatra: Ajuna conquered regions till lake Manasa and returned.

स श्वेतपर्वतं वीरः समतिक्रम्य भारत। देशं किम्पुरुषावासं द्रुमपुत्रेण रक्षितम् ॥२-२५-१॥
sa śvetaparvataṃ vīraḥ samatikramya bhārata। deśaṃ kimpuruṣāvāsaṃ drumaputreṇa rakṣitam ॥2-25-1॥
[स (sa) - he; श्वेतपर्वतं (śvetaparvatam) - the White Mountain; वीरः (vīraḥ) - the hero; समतिक्रम्य (samatikramya) - having crossed over; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata; देशं (deśam) - the land; किम्पुरुषावासं (kimpuruṣāvāsam) - abode of the Kimpuruṣas; द्रुमपुत्रेण (drumaputreṇa) - by the son of the tree; रक्षितम् (rakṣitam) - protected;]
(He, the hero, having crossed over the White Mountain, O Bhārata, (reached) the land, the abode of the Kimpuruṣas, protected by the son of the tree.)
O Bhārata, the hero crossed the White Mountain and reached the land of the Kimpuruṣas, which was protected by the son of the tree. (2-25-1)
महता संनिपातेन क्षत्रियान्तकरेण ह। व्यजयत्पाण्डवश्रेष्ठः करे चैव न्यवेशयत् ॥२-२५-२॥
mahatā saṃnipātena kṣatriyāntakareṇa ha। vyajayat pāṇḍava-śreṣṭhaḥ kare caiva nyaveśayat ॥2-25-2॥
[महता (mahatā) - by the great; by the mighty; संनिपातेन (saṃnipātena) - by the collision; by the encounter; क्षत्रियान्तकरेण (kṣatriyāntakareṇa) - by the destroyer of kṣatriyas; by the one who ends kṣatriyas; ह (ha) - indeed; surely; विजयत् (vyajayat) - he conquered; he defeated; पाण्डवश्रेष्ठः (pāṇḍava-śreṣṭhaḥ) - the best among the Pāṇḍavas; the foremost Pāṇḍava; करे (kare) - in the hand; into the hand; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; surely; न्यवेशयत् (nyaveśayat) - he placed; he deposited;]
(By the great encounter with the destroyer of kṣatriyas indeed, the foremost Pāṇḍava conquered and placed (it) in the hand indeed.)
By a mighty encounter with the destroyer of kṣatriyas, the best of the Pāṇḍavas conquered and placed it in his hand. (2-25-2)
तं जित्वा हाटकं नाम देशं गुह्यकरक्षितम्। पाकशासनिरव्यग्रः सहसैन्यः समासदत् ॥२-२५-३॥
taṃ jitvā hāṭakaṃ nāma deśaṃ guhyakarakṣitam। pākaśāsaniravyagraḥ sahasainyaḥ samāsadat ॥2-25-3॥
[तं (taṃ) - him; जित्वा (jitvā) - having conquered; हाटकं (hāṭakam) - Hataka; नाम (nāma) - named; देशं (deśam) - country; गुह्यकरक्षितम् (guhyakarakṣitam) - protected by Guhyakas; पाकशासनिः (pākaśāsaniḥ) - the son of Pāka (Indra); अव्यग्रः (avyagraḥ) - unperturbed; सहसैन्यः (sahasainyaḥ) - with his army; समासदत् (samāsadat) - approached;]
(Having conquered him, (Indra) the son of Pāka, unperturbed, with his army, approached the country named Hataka, protected by the Guhyakas.)
After defeating him, Indra, the son of Pāka, calmly advanced with his army to the land called Hataka, which was guarded by the Guhyakas. (2-25-3)
तांस्तु सान्त्वेन निर्जित्य मानसं सर उत्तमम्। ऋषिकुल्याश्च ताः सर्वा ददर्श कुरुनन्दनः ॥२-२५-४॥
tāṃs tu sāntvena nirjitya mānasaṃ sara uttamam। ṛṣikulyāś ca tāḥ sarvā dadarśa kurunandanaḥ ॥2-25-4॥
[ताम् (tām) - them (accusative plural); तु (tu) - but; indeed; सान्त्वेन (sāntvena) - with conciliation; with gentle words; निर्जित्य (nirjitya) - having conquered; having subdued; मानसं (mānasaṃ) - Mānasa; (the) Mānasa (lake); सरः (saraḥ) - lake; उत्तमम् (uttamam) - excellent; highest; ऋषिकुल्याः (ṛṣikulyāḥ) - of the Ṛṣikulyā (river); च (ca) - and; ताः (tāḥ) - them (feminine plural); सर्वाः (sarvāḥ) - all; ददर्श (dadarśa) - he saw; कुरुनन्दनः (kurunandanaḥ) - O joy of the Kurus; descendant of Kuru;]
(But having conciliated them, having subdued, the excellent Mānasa lake; and all those Ṛṣikulyā (rivers), the son of Kuru saw.)
But after pacifying them, the son of Kuru beheld the excellent Mānasa lake and all the Ṛṣikulyā rivers. (2-25-4)
सरो मानसमासाद्य हाटकानभितः प्रभुः। गन्धर्वरक्षितं देशं व्यजयत्पाण्डवस्ततः ॥२-२५-५॥
saro mānasam āsādya hāṭakān abhitaḥ prabhuḥ। gandharva-rakṣitaṃ deśaṃ vyajayat pāṇḍavas tataḥ॥2-25-5॥
[सरो (saraḥ) - lake; मानसम् (mānasam) - Mānasa (name of the lake); आसाद्य (āsādya) - having reached; हाटकान् (hāṭakān) - the Hāṭaka (region or people); अभितः (abhitaḥ) - around; प्रभुः (prabhuḥ) - the lord; गन्धर्वरक्षितम् (gandharva-rakṣitam) - protected by Gandharvas; देशम् (deśam) - land; विजयत् (vyajayat) - conquered; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the Pāṇḍava (Yudhiṣṭhira); ततः (tataḥ) - then;]
(Having reached the Mānasa lake, the lord, around the Hāṭaka region, the Pāṇḍava then conquered the land protected by Gandharvas.)
Having reached Lake Mānasa, the lord Yudhiṣṭhira, near the Hāṭaka region, then conquered the land protected by the Gandharvas. (2-25-5)
तत्र तित्तिरिकल्माषान्मण्डूकाक्षान्हयोत्तमान्। लेभे स करमत्यन्तं गन्धर्वनगरात्तदा ॥२-२५-६॥
tatra tittirikalmāṣānmaṇḍūkākṣānhayottamān। lebhe sa karam atyantaṃ gandharvanagarāttadā ॥2-25-6॥
[तत्र (tatra) - there; तित्तिरि-कल्माषान् (tittiri-kalmāṣān) - partridges and kalmāṣa birds; मण्डूक-आक्षान् (maṇḍūka-akṣān) - frog-eyed (horses); हय-उत्तमान् (haya-uttamān) - excellent horses; लेभे (lebhe) - obtained; सः (saḥ) - he; करम् (karam) - hand; अत्यन्तम् (atyantam) - completely; गन्धर्व-नगरात् (gandharva-nagarāt) - from the city of Gandharvas; तदा (tadā) - then;]
(There, partridges and kalmāṣa birds, frog-eyed excellent horses, he obtained completely by hand from the city of Gandharvas then.)
There, he then obtained partridges, kalmāṣa birds, and excellent frog-eyed horses entirely by hand from the city of the Gandharvas. (2-25-6)
उत्तरं हरिवर्षं तु समासाद्य स पाण्डवः। इयेष जेतुं तं देशं पाकशासननन्दनः ॥२-२५-७॥
uttaraṃ harivarṣaṃ tu samāsādya sa pāṇḍavaḥ। iyeṣa jetuṃ taṃ deśaṃ pākaśāsananandanaḥ ॥2-25-7॥
[उत्तरं (uttaram) - northern; हरिवर्षं (harivarṣam) - Harivarṣa; तु (tu) - but; समासाद्य (samāsādya) - having approached; स (sa) - he; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the Pāṇḍava; इयेष (iyeṣa) - desired; जेतुम् (jetum) - to conquer; तं (tam) - that; देशं (deśam) - region; पाकशासननन्दनः (pākaśāsananandanaḥ) - the son of the subduer of Pāka (Indra);]
(Having approached the northern Harivarṣa, he, the Pāṇḍava, desired to conquer that region, the son of the subduer of Pāka (Indra).)
Having reached the northern Harivarṣa, the Pāṇḍava, son of the subduer of Pāka (Indra), wished to conquer that land. (2-25-7)
तत एनं महाकाया महावीर्या महाबलाः। द्वारपालाः समासाद्य हृष्टा वचनमब्रुवन् ॥२-२५-८॥
tata enaṃ mahākāyā mahāvīryā mahābalāḥ। dvārapālāḥ samāsādya hṛṣṭā vacanam abruvan ॥2-25-8॥
[तत (tata) - then; एनम् (enam) - him; महाकायाः (mahākāyāḥ) - great-bodied (ones); महावीर्याः (mahāvīryāḥ) - of great energy; महाबलाः (mahābalāḥ) - of great strength; द्वारपालाः (dvārapālāḥ) - doorkeepers; समासाद्य (samāsādya) - having approached; हृष्टाः (hṛṣṭāḥ) - glad; वचनम् (vacanam) - words; अब्रुवन् (abruvan) - spoke;]
(Then the great-bodied, of great energy, of great strength doorkeepers, having approached him, glad, spoke words.)
Then the mighty, energetic, and strong doorkeepers, having approached him with joy, spoke these words. (2-25-8)
पार्थ नेदं त्वया शक्यं पुरं जेतुं कथञ्चन। उपावर्तस्व कल्याण पर्याप्तमिदमच्युत ॥२-२५-९॥
pārtha nedaṃ tvayā śakyaṃ puraṃ jetuṃ kathaṃcana। upāvartasva kalyāṇa paryāptam idam acyuta ॥2-25-9॥
[पार्थ (pārtha) - O son of Pṛthā; न (na) - not; इदं (idaṃ) - this; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; शक्यं (śakyaṃ) - possible; पुरं (puraṃ) - city; जेतुं (jetuṃ) - to conquer; कथञ्चन (kathaṃcana) - in any way; उपावर्तस्व (upāvartasva) - turn back; कल्याण (kalyāṇa) - O auspicious one; पर्याप्तम् (paryāptam) - sufficient; इदम् (idam) - this; अच्युत (acyuta) - O infallible one;]
(O son of Pṛthā, this city cannot be conquered by you in any way. Turn back, O auspicious one. This is sufficient, O infallible one.)
O Pārtha, you cannot conquer this city in any way. Please turn back, O blessed one. This is enough, O Acyuta. (2-25-9)
इदं पुरं यः प्रविशेद्ध्रुवं स न भवेन्नरः। प्रीयामहे त्वया वीर पर्याप्तो विजयस्तव ॥२-२५-१०॥
idaṃ puraṃ yaḥ praviśed dhruvaṃ sa na bhaven naraḥ। prīyāmahe tvayā vīra paryāpto vijayas tava ॥2-25-10॥
[इदं (idaṃ) - this; पुरं (puraṃ) - city; यः (yaḥ) - who; प्रविशेत् (praviśet) - enters; ध्रुवं (dhruvaṃ) - certainly; सः (saḥ) - he; न (na) - not; भवेत् (bhavet) - becomes; नरः (naraḥ) - man; प्रीयामहे (prīyāmahe) - we are pleased; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; वीर (vīra) - hero; पर्याप्तः (paryāptaḥ) - sufficient; विजयः (vijayaḥ) - victory; तव (tava) - your;]
(This city who enters certainly he not becomes man. We are pleased by you, hero; sufficient is your victory.)
Whoever enters this city certainly ceases to be a man. We are pleased with you, O hero; your victory is sufficient. (2-25-10)
न चापि किञ्चिज्जेतव्यमर्जुनात्र प्रदृश्यते। उत्तराः कुरवो ह्येते नात्र युद्धं प्रवर्तते ॥२-२५-११॥
na cāpi kiñcij jetavyam arjunātra pradṛśyate। uttarāḥ kuravo hy ete nātra yuddhaṃ pravartate ॥2-25-11॥
[न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; किञ्चित् (kiñcit) - anything; जेतव्यम् (jetavyam) - to be conquered; अर्जुन (arjuna) - Arjuna; अत्र (atra) - here; प्रदृश्यते (pradṛśyate) - is seen; उत्तराः (uttarāḥ) - northern; कुरवः (kuravaḥ) - Kurus; हि (hi) - indeed; एते (ete) - these; न (na) - not; अत्र (atra) - here; युद्धम् (yuddham) - battle; प्रवर्तते (pravartate) - is taking place;]
(Not and also anything to be conquered, Arjuna, here is seen. The northern Kurus indeed these not here battle is taking place.)
Arjuna, nothing at all is seen here to be conquered. These are the northern Kurus; indeed, no battle is taking place here. (2-25-11)
प्रविष्टश्चापि कौन्तेय नेह द्रक्ष्यसि किञ्चन। न हि मानुषदेहेन शक्यमत्राभिवीक्षितुम् ॥२-२५-१२॥
praviṣṭaścāpi kaunteya neha drakṣyasi kiñcana। na hi mānuṣadehena śakyamatraabhivīkṣitum ॥2-25-12॥
[प्रविष्टः (praviṣṭaḥ) - entered; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; कौन्तेय (kaunteya) - O son of Kunti; न (na) - not; इह (iha) - here; द्रक्ष्यसि (drakṣyasi) - you will see; किञ्चन (kiñcana) - anything; न (na) - not; हि (hi) - indeed; मानुषदेहेन (mānuṣadehena) - with a human body; शक्यम् (śakyam) - possible; अत्र (atra) - here; अभिवीक्षितुम् (abhivīkṣitum) - to behold;]
(Entered and also, O son of Kunti, here you will not see anything. Not indeed with a human body is it possible here to behold.)
O son of Kunti, even though you have entered, you will not see anything here. Indeed, it is not possible to behold this here with a human body. (2-25-12)
अथेह पुरुषव्याघ्र किञ्चिदन्यच्चिकीर्षसि। तद्ब्रवीहि करिष्यामो वचनात्तव भारत ॥२-२५-१३॥
atheha puruṣavyāghra kiñcidanyaccikīrṣasi। tadbravīhi kariṣyāmo vacanāttava bhārata ॥2-25-13॥
[अथ (atha) - now; then; इह (iha) - here; पुरुषव्याघ्र (puruṣavyāghra) - tiger among men; किञ्चित् (kiñcit) - something; अन्यत् (anyat) - else; other; चिकीर्षसि (cikīrṣasi) - you wish to do; तत् (tat) - that; ब्रवीहि (bravīhi) - speak; tell; करिष्यामः (kariṣyāmaḥ) - we shall do; वचनात् (vacanāt) - by the word; तव (tava) - your; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata; descendant of Bharata;]
(Now here, O tiger among men, if you wish to do something else, speak that; we shall do (it) by your word, O Bhārata.)
Now, O tiger among men, if you wish to do anything else here, tell us; we will act according to your word, O Bhārata. (2-25-13)
ततस्तानब्रवीद्राजन्नर्जुनः पाकशासनिः। पार्थिवत्वं चिकीर्षामि धर्मराजस्य धीमतः ॥२-२५-१४॥
tatastān abravīd rājan arjunaḥ pākaśāsaniḥ। pārthivatvaṃ cikīrṣāmi dharmarājasya dhīmataḥ ॥2-25-14॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; तान् (tān) - them; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said; राजन् (rājan) - O king; अर्जुनः (arjunaḥ) - Arjuna; पाकशासनिः (pākaśāsaniḥ) - the subduer of Pāka (Indra); पार्थिवत्वं (pārthivatvaṃ) - kingship; चिकीर्षामि (cikīrṣāmi) - I wish to accomplish; धर्मराजस्य (dharmarājasya) - of Dharmarāja; धीमतः (dhīmataḥ) - the wise;]
(Then Arjuna, the subduer of Pāka (Indra), said to them, O king: "I wish to accomplish the kingship of the wise Dharmarāja.")
Then Arjuna, known as the subduer of Pāka (Indra), said to them, "O king, I wish to secure the kingship for the wise Dharmarāja." (2-25-14)
न प्रवेक्ष्यामि वो देशं बाध्यत्वं यदि मानुषैः। युधिष्ठिराय यत्किञ्चित्करवन्नः प्रदीयताम् ॥२-२५-१५॥
na pravekṣyāmi vo deśaṃ bādhyatvaṃ yadi mānuṣaiḥ। yudhiṣṭhirāya yatkiñcit karavann aḥ pradīyatām ॥2-25-15॥
[न (na) - not; प्रवेक्ष्यामि (pravekṣyāmi) - I shall enter; वः (vaḥ) - your; देशं (deśam) - land; बाध्यत्वं (bādhyatvam) - being compelled; यदि (yadi) - if; मानुषैः (mānuṣaiḥ) - by men; युधिष्ठिराय (yudhiṣṭhirāya) - to Yudhishthira; यत्किञ्चित् (yatkiñcit) - whatever; करवन् (karavan) - doing; नः (naḥ) - of us; प्रदीयताम् (pradīyatām) - let it be given;]
(Not I shall enter your land, being compelled if by men. To Yudhishthira whatever doing of us, let it be given.)
I will not enter your land if compelled by men. Whatever actions of ours are to be done, let them be given to Yudhishthira. (2-25-15)
ततो दिव्यानि वस्त्राणि दिव्यान्याभरणानि च। मोकाजिनानि दिव्यानि तस्मै ते प्रददुः करम् ॥२-२५-१६॥
tato divyāni vastrāṇi divyānyābharaṇāni ca। mokājināni divyāni tasmai te pradaduḥ karam ॥2-25-16॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; दिव्यानि (divyāni) - divine; वस्त्राणि (vastrāṇi) - garments; दिव्यानि (divyāni) - divine; आभरणानि (ābharaṇāni) - ornaments; च (ca) - and; मोकाजिनानि (mokājināni) - deerskins; दिव्यानि (divyāni) - divine; तस्मै (tasmai) - to him; ते (te) - they; प्रददुः (pradaduḥ) - gave; करम् (karam) - with (their) hands;]

(Thus he, the tiger among men, conquered the northern direction, having fought many battles with kṣatriyas and also with bandits.)

स विनिर्जित्य राज्ञस्तान्करे च विनिवेश्य ह। धनान्यादाय सर्वेभ्यो रत्नानि विविधानि च ॥२-२५-१८॥
sa vinirjitya rājñas tān kare ca viniveśya ha। dhanāny ādāya sarvebhyo ratnāni vividhāni ca ॥2-25-18॥
[स (sa) - he; विनिर्जित्य (vinirjitya) - having completely conquered; राज्ञः (rājñaḥ) - of the kings; तान् (tān) - them; करे (kare) - in tribute; च (ca) - and; विनिवेश्य (viniveśya) - having placed; ह (ha) - indeed; धनानि (dhanāni) - treasures; आदाय (ādāya) - having taken; सर्वेभ्यः (sarvebhyaḥ) - from all; रत्नानि (ratnāni) - gems; विविधानि (vividhāni) - various; च (ca) - and;]
(He, having completely conquered those kings and having placed them under tribute indeed, having taken treasures and various gems from all.)

(Horses, partridge-spotted, parrot-feather-like also, peacock-like and other, all wind-speeded.)
There were horses that were spotted like partridges, some resembling parrot feathers, others like peacocks, and all of them were as swift as the wind. (2-25-19)
वृतः सुमहता राजन्बलेन चतुरङ्गिणा। आजगाम पुनर्वीरः शक्रप्रस्थं पुरोत्तमम् ॥२-२५-२०॥
vṛtaḥ sumahatā rājanbalena caturaṅgiṇā। ājagāma punarvīraḥ śakraprasthaṃ purottamam ॥2-25-20॥
[वृतः (vṛtaḥ) - surrounded; सुमहता (sumahatā) - by very great; राजन् (rājan) - O king; बलेन (balena) - by the army; चतुरङ्गिणा (caturaṅgiṇā) - consisting of four divisions; आजगाम (ājagāma) - came; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; वीरः (vīraḥ) - the hero; शक्रप्रस्थम् (śakraprastham) - to Śakraprastha; पुरोत्तमम् (purottamam) - the best of cities;]
(Surrounded by a very great army consisting of four divisions, O king, the hero again came to Śakraprastha, the best of cities.)
O king, the hero, surrounded by a mighty fourfold army, once again came to Śakraprastha, the foremost of cities. (2-25-20)
