Core-Pancharatra: After Yudhisthira’s silence, Draupadi comes to the Sabha and stands in front of Dritarashtra.

(Condemnation let there be for the charioteer thus speaking; with arrogance, intoxicated, the son of Dhritarashtra looked at Pratikami of the assembly; and said to him in the midst of the foremost elders (2-60-1))
With arrogance and intoxication, the son of Dhritarashtra looked at Pratikami in the assembly and said to him in the midst of the foremost elders, "Let there be condemnation for the charioteer thus speaking." (2-60-1)
त्वं प्रातिकामिन्द्रौपदीमानयस्व; न ते भयं विद्यते पाण्डवेभ्यः। क्षत्ता ह्ययं विवदत्येव भीरु; र्न चास्माकं वृद्धिकामः सदैव ॥२-६०-२॥

(You, to Prātikāmin, bring Indra's daughter (Draupadī); not to you fear exists from the Pāṇḍavas. The charioteer (Vidura) indeed this argues only, fearful one; and not our desirous of welfare always. (2-60-2))
You, bring Draupadī here through Prātikāmin; you need not fear the Pāṇḍavas. Vidura, the charioteer, is only arguing out of fear and is never truly concerned for our welfare. (2-60-2)
एवमुक्तः प्रातिकामी स सूतः; प्रायाच्छीघ्रं राजवचो निशम्य। प्रविश्य च श्वेव स सिंहगोष्ठं; समासदन्महिषीं पाण्डवानाम् ॥२-६०-३॥

(Thus having been addressed, Prātikāmī the charioteer quickly went, having heard the king's message. And having entered the lion's hall the next day, he approached the queen of the Pāṇḍavas.)

Deluded by the intoxication of gambling in Yudhiṣṭhira, Duryodhana has won you, O Draupadi. Now, having approached, I am leading you, O Yajnaseni, to the house of Dhritarashtra for the assigned task. (2-60-4)

kathaṃ tvevaṃ vadasi prātikāmi; nko vai dīvyedbhāryayā rājaputraḥ. mūḍho rājā dyūtamadena matta; āho nānyatkaitavamasya kiñcit ॥2-60-5॥

(How you thus say in return; not who indeed would gamble with wife, prince. Deluded king by gambling-intoxication intoxicated; alas, not other deceit of him at all. (2-60-5))
How can you say this in response? What prince would ever gamble away his wife? The king, deluded and intoxicated by the madness of gambling—alas, there is no other deceit in him at all. (2-60-5)

yadā nābhūtkaitavamanyadasya; tadādevītpāṇḍavo'jātaśatruḥ। nyastāḥ pūrvaṃ bhrātarastena rājñā; svayaṃ cātmā tvamatho rājaputri ॥2-60-6॥

(When there was not any other deceit of him, then the Pāṇḍava Ajātaśatru ruled. The brothers were deposited before by that king; himself and the self, you then, O princess.)
When there was no other deceit in him, then Ajātaśatru, the Pāṇḍava, ruled. The brothers had previously been entrusted by that king; and he himself, and you, O princess.

गच्छ त्वं कितवं गत्वा सभायां पृच्छ सूतज। किं नु पूर्वं पराजैषीरात्मानं मां नु भारत ॥ एतज्ज्ञात्वा त्वमागच्छ ततो मां नय सूतज ॥२-६०-७॥
gaccha tvaṃ kitavaṃ gatvā sabhāyāṃ pṛccha sūtaja। kiṃ nu pūrvaṃ parājaiṣīr ātmānaṃ māṃ nu bhārata ॥ etaj jñātvā tvam āgaccha tato māṃ naya sūtaja ॥2-60-7॥

(Go, you, to the gambler, having gone into the assembly, ask, O charioteer’s son: 'What indeed, earlier, did you defeat—yourself or me, O Bhārata?' Having known this, you come, then lead me, O charioteer’s son.)
Go to the gambler, enter the assembly and ask him, O charioteer’s son: 'O Bhārata, did you lose yourself first, or me?' After learning this, return and then lead me, O charioteer’s son. (2-60-7)

sabhāṃ gatvā sa covāca draupadyās tadvacas tadā। kasyeśo naḥ parājaiṣīr iti tvām āha draupadī ॥ kiṃ nu pūrvaṃ parājaiṣīr ātmānam atha vāpi mām ॥2-60-8॥

(Having gone to the assembly, he then spoke that speech of Draupadī. Draupadī said to you thus: 'Of whom are you the lord of us, did you defeat? What indeed, did you first defeat, yourself or also me?' (2-60-8))
Having entered the assembly, he spoke Draupadī's words. Draupadī asked you: 'Of whom are you the lord, of us whom did you defeat? Did you first defeat yourself or me?' (2-60-8)
युधिष्ठिरस्तु निश्चेष्टो गतसत्त्व इवाभवत्। न तं सूतं प्रत्युवाच वचनं साध्वसाधु वा ॥२-६०-९॥
yudhiṣṭhiras tu niśceṣṭo gatasattva ivābhavat। na taṃ sūtaṃ pratyuvāca vacanaṃ sādhvasādhu vā ॥2-60-9॥

(But Yudhishthira became motionless, as if having lost vitality; he did not reply to the charioteer, not a word, whether good or not good.)

Let Kṛṣṇā Pāñcālī come here and speak this question. Let everyone here listen to what she and he have to say. (2-60-10)

(Wearing a single garment, with lower garment, weeping, menstruating, having come to the assembly, Panchali stood in front of her father-in-law.)

ततस्तेषां मुखमालोक्य राजा; दुर्योधनः सूतमुवाच हृष्टः। इहैवैतामानय प्रातिकामि; प्रत्यक्षमस्याः कुरवो ब्रुवन्तु ॥२-६०-१६॥

(Then, having looked at their faces, the king Duryodhana, glad, said to the charioteer: "Here itself, just bring her, O Pratikami; in the presence of her, let the Kurus speak.")
Then, seeing their faces, King Duryodhana, delighted, said to the charioteer: "Bring her here at once, Pratikami; let the Kurus speak in her presence." (2-60-16)

(Then the charioteer, following his will, and afraid from the anger of the daughter of Drupada, abandoning pride, again indeed, O assembly, spoke to Kṛṣṇā: "What shall I say?" (2-60-17))
Then the charioteer, obedient to his command and fearful of the wrath of Drupada's daughter, setting aside his pride, once again addressed Kṛṣṇā in the assembly: "What am I to say?" (2-60-17)

ततः समुत्थाय सुदुर्मनाः सा; विवर्णमामृज्य मुखं करेण। आर्ता प्रदुद्राव यतः स्त्रियस्ता; वृद्धस्य राज्ञः कुरुपुङ्गवस्य ॥२-६०-२१॥

(Then, with speed, approached with anger Duḥśāsana her, roaring. Long, dark, and wavy (hair), he seized by the hair the queen.)
Then Duḥśāsana, roaring with anger, swiftly approached her and seized the queen by her long, dark, wavy hair. (2-60-22)
ये राजसूयावभृथे जलेन; महाक्रतौ मन्त्रपूतेन सिक्ताः। ते पाण्डवानां परिभूय वीर्यं; बलात्प्रमृष्टा धृतराष्ट्रजेन ॥२-६०-२३॥

(Who, in the Rājasūya-avabhṛtha, with water, in the great sacrifice, purified by mantra, were sprinkled; they, of the Pāṇḍavas, having disregarded strength, by force, were overpowered by the son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra.)
Those who were sprinkled with mantra-purified water at the Rājasūya-avabhṛtha in the great sacrifice, having disregarded the strength of the Pāṇḍavas, were forcibly overpowered by the son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra. (2-60-23)
स तां परामृश्य सभासमीप; मानीय कृष्णामतिकृष्णकेशीम्। दुःशासनो नाथवतीमनाथव; च्चकर्ष वायुः कदलीमिवार्ताम् ॥२-६०-२४॥
sa tāṃ parāmṛśya sabhāsamīpa; mānīya kṛṣṇāmatikṛṣṇakeśīm। duḥśāsano nāthavatīmanāthava;ccakarsa vāyuḥ kadalīmivārtām ॥2-60-24॥

(He, having touched her, brought the dark-complexioned one with very dark hair near the assembly; Duḥśāsana dragged her, who had a protector, as if she were without a protector, like the wind drags a distressed banana plant.)
He touched her and brought the dark-complexioned lady with very dark hair near the assembly; Duḥśāsana dragged her, though she had protectors, as if she were helpless, like the wind drags a distressed banana plant. (2-60-24)
सा कृष्यमाणा नमिताङ्गयष्टिः; शनैरुवाचाद्य रजस्वलास्मि। एकं च वासो मम मन्दबुद्धे; सभां नेतुं नार्हसि मामनार्य ॥२-६०-२५॥
sā kṛṣyamāṇā namitāṅgayaṣṭiḥ; śanair uvācādya rajasvalāsmi. ekaṃ ca vāso mama mandabuddhe; sabhāṃ netuṃ nārhasi māmanārya ॥2-60-25॥
[सा (sā) - she; कृष्यमाणा (kṛṣyamāṇā) - being dragged; नमिताङ्गयष्टिः (namitāṅgayaṣṭiḥ) - with bent body; शनैः (śanaiḥ) - slowly; उवाच (uvāca) - said; अद्य (adya) - today; रजस्वला (rajasvalā) - menstruating; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; एकं (ekaṃ) - one; च (ca) - and; वासः (vāsaḥ) - garment; मम (mama) - my; मन्दबुद्धे (mandabuddhe) - dull-witted one; सभाम् (sabhām) - assembly; नेतुम् (netum) - to lead; न (na) - not; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you ought; माम् (mām) - me; अनार्य (anārya) - unworthy one;]
(She, being dragged, with bent body, slowly said: "Today I am menstruating. And I have only one garment, O dull-witted one; you ought not to lead me, O unworthy one, to the assembly." (2-60-25))

(Then, having seized her forcibly by the hair, he spoke: "Call out to Kṛṣṇa, to Arjuna, to Hari, to Nara, for protection; I will indeed lead you." (2-60-26))

रजस्वला वा भव याज्ञसेनि; एकाम्बरा वाप्यथ वा विवस्त्रा। द्यूते जिता चासि कृतासि दासी; दासीषु कामश्च यथोपजोषम् ॥२-६०-२७॥

(Menstruating or be, O Yājñaseni; wearing one garment or even or without clothes. In gambling won and you are, made you are servant woman; among servant women desire and as is pleasing. (2-60-27))
O Yājñaseni, you may be menstruating, or wearing a single garment, or even without clothes; you have been won in gambling and made a servant woman; among the servant women, desire may be exercised as is pleasing. (2-60-27)
प्रकीर्णकेशी पतितार्धवस्त्रा; दुःशासनेन व्यवधूयमाना। ह्रीमत्यमर्षेण च दह्यमाना; शनैरिदं वाक्यमुवाच कृष्णा ॥२-६०-२८॥
prakīrṇakeśī patitārdhavastṛā; duḥśāsanena vyavadhūyamānā. hrīmatyamarṣeṇa ca dahyamānā; śanair idaṃ vākyam uvāca kṛṣṇā ॥2-60-28॥
[प्रकीर्णकेशी (prakīrṇakeśī) - with disheveled hair; पतितार्धवस्त्रा (patitārdhavastṛā) - with half-fallen garment; दुःशासनेन (duḥśāsanena) - by Duḥśāsana; व्यवधूयमाना (vyavadhūyamānā) - being dragged; ह्रीमत्या (hrīmatyā) - by modesty; अमर्षेण (amarṣeṇa) - by indignation; च (ca) - and; दह्यमाना (dahyamānā) - burning; शनैः (śanaiḥ) - slowly; इदं (idaṃ) - this; वाक्यम् (vākyam) - speech; उवाच (uvāca) - spoke; कृष्णा (kṛṣṇā) - Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī);]
(With disheveled hair, with half-fallen garment, being dragged by Duḥśāsana, burning with modesty and indignation, slowly Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) spoke this speech.)
With her hair disheveled and her garment half-fallen, dragged by Duḥśāsana, burning with shame and anger, Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) slowly spoke these words. (2-60-28)
इमे सभायामुपदिष्टशास्त्राः; क्रियावन्तः सर्व एवेन्द्रकल्पाः। गुरुस्थाना गुरवश्चैव सर्वे; तेषामग्रे नोत्सहे स्थातुमेवम् ॥२-६०-२९॥
ime sabhāyām upadiṣṭaśāstrāḥ; kriyāvantaḥ sarva eve ndra kalpāḥ. gurusthānā guravaś caiva sarve; teṣām agre notsahe sthātum evam ॥2-60-29॥

(These, instructed in śāstra in the assembly, all endowed with action, indeed equal to Indra. All, occupying the place of guru and teachers indeed; in front of them, I am not able to stand thus.)
These men, instructed in the śāstras in this assembly, all active and equal to Indra, all occupying the place of teachers and gurus; in front of them, I am unable to stand like this. (2-60-29)
नृशंसकर्मंस्त्वमनार्यवृत्त; मा मां विवस्त्रां कृधि मा विकार्षीः। न मर्षयेयुस्तव राजपुत्राः; सेन्द्रापि देवा यदि ते सहायाः ॥२-६०-३०॥
nṛśaṁsakarmaṁstvam anāryavṛtta; mā māṁ vivastrāṁ kṛdhi mā vikārṣīḥ। na marṣayeyus tava rājaputrāḥ; sendrāpi devā yadi te sahāyāḥ ॥2-60-30॥

(By the stolen kingdom and thus by wealth; by jewels and by the chief ones, not thus did it become. By the real, anger-stirred (one); by the black sidelong glance, sorrow became.)
