समुद्रं ते समाश्रित्य वारुणं निधिमम्भसाम्। कालेयाः सम्प्रवर्तन्त त्रैलोक्यस्य विनाशने ॥०३-१००-१॥
samudraṃ te samāśritya vāruṇaṃ nidhim ambhasām। kāleyāḥ sampravartanta trailokyasya vināśane ॥03-100-1॥

(The ocean, your, having resorted to, of Varuṇa, abode, of waters, the Kāleyas engaged in, of the three worlds, in destruction.)
The Kāleyas, having resorted to your ocean—the abode of Varuṇa, the treasure of waters—engaged in the destruction of the three worlds. (03-100-1)
ते रात्रौ समभिक्रुद्धा भक्षयन्ति सदा मुनीन्। आश्रमेषु च ये सन्ति पुन्येष्वायतनेषु च ॥०३-१००-२॥
te rātrau samabhikruddhā bhakṣayanti sadā munīn| āśrameṣu ca ye santi puṇyeṣvāyataneṣu ca ॥03-100-2॥

(They at night utterly enraged devour always sages in hermitages and who are in holy places and.)
At night, they, utterly enraged, always devour sages who are in hermitages and in holy places. (03-100-2)
वसिष्ठस्याश्रमे विप्रा भक्षितास्तैर्दुरात्मभिः। अशीतिशतमष्टौ च नव चान्ये तपस्विनः ॥०३-१००-३॥
vasiṣṭhasyāśrame viprā bhakṣitāstairdūrātmabhiḥ। aśītiśatamaṣṭau ca nava cānye tapasvinaḥ ॥03-100-3॥

cyavanasya āśramaṃ gatvā puṇyaṃ dvijaniṣevitam। phala-mūlāśanānāṃ hi munīnām bhakṣitaṃ śatam ॥03-100-4॥
[च्यवनस्याश्रमं (cyavanasya āśramam) - of Cyavana's hermitage; गत्वा (gatvā) - having gone; पुण्यं (puṇyam) - sacred; द्विजनिषेवितम् (dvija-niṣevitam) - attended by twice-born (brahmins); फलमूलाशनानां (phala-mūla-aśanānām) - of those eating fruits and roots; हि (hi) - surely; मुनीनां (munīnām) - of sages; भक्षितं (bhakṣitam) - eaten; शतम् (śatam) - hundred;]
(Having gone to Cyavana's hermitage, sacred, attended by the twice-born, a hundred of the sages eating fruits and roots, indeed, were eaten.)

एवं रात्रौ स्म कुर्वन्ति विविशुश्चार्णवं दिवा। भरद्वाजाश्रमे चैव नियता ब्रह्मचारिणः ॥ वाय्वाहाराम्बुभक्षाश्च विंशतिः संनिपातिताः ॥०३-१००-५॥
evaṁ rātrau sma kurvanti viviśuś cārṇavaṁ divā। bharadvājāśrame caiva niyatā brahmacāriṇaḥ ॥ vāyvāhārāmbubhakṣāś ca viṁśatiḥ saṁnipātitāḥ ॥03-100-5॥
[एवं (evaṁ) - thus; रात्रौ (rātrau) - at night; स्म (sma) - indeed; (past tense particle); कुर्वन्ति (kurvanti) - they act; विविशुः (viviśuḥ) - they entered; च (ca) - and; अर्णवं (arṇavaṁ) - the ocean; दिवा (divā) - by day; भरद्वाजाश्रमे (bharadvājāśrame) - in the hermitage of Bharadvāja; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; नियता (niyatāḥ) - self-controlled; ब्रह्मचारिणः (brahmacāriṇaḥ) - celibates; वाय्वाहार (vāyv-āhāra) - subsisting on air; अम्बु (ambu) - water; भक्षाश्च (bhakṣāḥ ca) - and eaters; विंशतिः (viṁśatiḥ) - twenty; संनिपातिताः (saṁnipātitāḥ) - gathered;]
(Thus at night indeed they act, and they entered the ocean by day. In the hermitage of Bharadvāja indeed, the self-controlled celibates, subsisting on air or eaters of water, twenty, were gathered.)
In this way, they acted at night and entered the ocean by day. In the hermitage of Bharadvāja, twenty self-controlled celibate ascetics, living on air or water, had gathered. (03-100-5)
एवं क्रमेण सर्वांस्तानाश्रमान्दानवास्तदा। निशायां परिधावन्ति मत्ता भुजबलाश्रयात् ॥ कालोपसृष्टाः कालेया घ्नन्तो द्विजगणान्बहून् ॥०३-१००-६॥
evaṃ krameṇa sarvāṃs tān āśramān dānavās tadā। niśāyāṃ paridhāvanti mattā bhujabalāśrayāt ॥ kālopasṛṣṭāḥ kāleyā ghnanto dvijagaṇān bahūn ॥03-100-6॥
[एवं (evaṃ) - thus; क्रमेण (krameṇa) - in succession; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; तान् (tān) - those; आश्रमान् (āśramān) - hermitages; दानवाः (dānavāḥ) - the dānavas; तदा (tadā) - then; निशायाम् (niśāyām) - at night; परिधावन्ति (paridhāvanti) - run around; मत्ता (mattā) - intoxicated; भुजबलाश्रयात् (bhujabalāśrayāt) - relying on the strength of their arms; कालोपसृष्टाः (kālopasṛṣṭāḥ) - impelled by time; कालेयाः (kāleyāḥ) - the sons of Kāla; घ्नन्तः (ghnantaḥ) - killing; द्विजगणान् (dvijagaṇān) - groups of twice-born (brāhmaṇas); बहून् (bahūn) - many;]
(Thus in succession all those hermitages the dānavas then, at night, run around, intoxicated, relying on the strength of their arms. Impelled by time, the Kāleyas killing many groups of twice-born.)
Thus, one after another, the dānavas at that time ran around all those hermitages at night, intoxicated with the power of their arms. The Kāleyas, driven by time, killed many groups of brāhmaṇas. (03-100-6)
न चैनानन्वबुध्यन्त मनुजा मनुजोत्तम। एवं प्रवृत्तान्दैत्यांस्तांस्तापसेषु तपस्विषु ॥०३-१००-७॥
na ca enān anvabudhyanta manujā manujottama। evaṃ pravṛttān daityān tān tāpaseṣu tapasviṣu॥03-100-7॥
[न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; एतान् (etān) - these; अन्वबुध्यन्त (anvabudhyanta) - perceived; recognized; मनुजाः (manujāḥ) - humans; men; मनुजोत्तम (manujottama) - O best of men; एवं (evaṃ) - thus; in this way; प्रवृत्तान् (pravṛttān) - engaged; devoted; दैत्याः (daityāḥ) - daityas (demons, a race of asuras); तान् (tān) - those; तापसेषु (tāpaseṣu) - among ascetics; तपस्विषु (tapasviṣu) - among those practicing austerity;]
(And not these did recognize humans, O best of men; thus those Daityas engaged among ascetics, among those practicing austerity.)
And humans did not recognize these Daityas, O best of men; thus, those Daityas, engaged among ascetics practicing austerities. (03-100-7)
प्रभाते समदृश्यन्त नियताहारकर्शिताः। महीतलस्था मुनयः शरीरैर्गतजीवितैः ॥०३-१००-८॥
prabhāte samadṛśyanta niyatāhārakarśitāḥ। mahītalasthā munayaḥ śarīrair gatajīvitaiḥ ॥03-100-8॥
[प्रभाते (prabhāte) - in the morning; समदृश्यन्त (samadṛśyanta) - were clearly seen; नियताहारकर्शिताः (niyatāhārakarśitāḥ) - emaciated by regulated food; महीतलस्था (mahītalasthā) - standing on the earth; मुनयः (munayaḥ) - sages; शरीरैः (śarīraiḥ) - with bodies; गतजीवितैः (gatajīvitaiḥ) - with departed life;]
(In the morning, were clearly seen, emaciated by regulated food, standing on the earth, sages, with bodies, with departed life.)

क्षीणमांसैर्विरुधिरैर्विमज्जान्त्रैर्विसन्धिभिः। आकीर्णैराचिता भूमिः शङ्खानामिव राशिभिः ॥०३-१००-९॥
kṣīṇamāṁsair-virudhirair-vimajjāntrair-visandhibhiḥ। ākīrṇair-ācitā bhūmiḥ śaṅkhānām iva rāśibhiḥ॥03-100-9॥
[क्षीणमांसैः (kṣīṇamāṁsaiḥ) - with diminished flesh; विरुधिरैः (virudhiraiḥ) - with flowed-out blood; विमज्ज-अन्त्रैः (vimajja-antraiḥ) - with exposed intestines; विसन्धिभिः (visandhibhiḥ) - with disjointed joints; आकीर्णैः (ākīrṇaiḥ) - strewn; आचिताः (ācitā) - heaped up; भूमिः (bhūmiḥ) - the ground; शङ्खानाम् (śaṅkhānām) - of conch-shells; इव (iva) - like; राशिभिः (rāśibhiḥ) - by heaps;]
(With diminished flesh, flowed-out blood, exposed intestines, disjointed joints, strewn and heaped up, the ground was like heaps of conch-shells.)
The ground, strewn with bodies having diminished flesh, exposed intestines, flowed-out blood, and disjointed joints, was heaped up like piles of conch-shells. (03-100-9)
कलशैर्विप्रविद्धैश्च स्रुवैर्भग्नैस्तथैव च। विकीर्णैरग्निहोत्रैश्च भूर्बभूव समावृता ॥०३-१००-१०॥
kalaśair vipraviddhaiś ca sruvair bhagnais tathaiva ca. vikīrṇair agnihotraiś ca bhūr babhūva samāvṛtā ॥03-100-10॥
[कलशैः (kalaśaiḥ) - with pots; विप्रविद्धैः (vipraviddhaiḥ) - scattered; च (ca) - and; स्रुवैः (sruvaiḥ) - with ladles; भग्नैः (bhagnais) - broken; तथैव (tathaiva) - in just that way; च (ca) - and; विकीर्णैः (vikīrṇaiḥ) - scattered; अग्निहोत्रैः (agnihotraiḥ) - agnihotra implements; च (ca) - and; भूमिः (bhūḥ) - the earth; बभूव (babhūva) - became; समावृता (samāvṛtā) - covered;]
(With pots that were scattered, and with ladles that were broken in just that way, and with scattered agnihotra implements, the earth became covered.)
The earth became covered with scattered pots, broken ladles, and agnihotra implements strewn about. (03-100-10)
निःस्वाध्यायवषट्कारं नष्टयज्ञोत्सवक्रियम्। जगदासीन्निरुत्साहं कालेयभयपीडितम् ॥०३-१००-११॥
niḥsvādhyāyavaṣaṭkāraṃ naṣṭayajñotsavakriyām। jagadāsīnnirutsāhaṃ kāleyabhayapīḍitam॥03-100-11॥
[निःस्वाध्यायवषट्कारं (niḥsvādhyāyavaṣaṭkāram) - without (niḥ) recitation/study of sacred texts (svādhyāya) and offering exclamations (vaṣaṭkāra); नष्टयज्ञोत्सवक्रियम् (naṣṭayajñotsavakriyam) - with lost (naṣṭa) sacrifices (yajña), festivals (utsava), and ritual acts (kriyā); जगत् (jagat) - the world; आसीत् (āsīt) - was; निर्उत्साहम् (nirutsāham) - without enthusiasm; कालेयभयपीडितम् (kāleyabhayapīḍitam) - afflicted (pīḍita) by the fear (bhaya) of the Kāleyas (kāleya);]
(The world, without the recitation of sacred texts and offering exclamations, with lost sacrifices, festivals, and ritual acts, was without enthusiasm, afflicted by the fear of the Kāleyas.)
The world was without enthusiasm, bereft of study of the sacred texts and ritual exclamations, with all sacrifice, festival, and worship activities lost, afflicted by fear of the Kāleyas. (03-100-11)
एवं प्रक्षीयमाणाश्च मानवा मनुजेश्वर। आत्मत्राणपरा भीताः प्राद्रवन्त दिशो भयात् ॥०३-१००-१२॥
evaṃ prakṣīyamāṇāś ca mānavā manujeśvara | ātmatrāṇaparā bhītāḥ prādravanta diśo bhayāt ॥03-100-12॥
[एवं (evaṃ) - thus; प्रक्षीयमाणाः (prakṣīyamāṇāḥ) - being destroyed; च (ca) - and; मानवाः (mānavāḥ) - humans; मनुजेश्वर (manujeśvara) - O lord of men; आत्मत्राणपराः (ātmatrāṇaparāḥ) - intent on self-preservation; भीताः (bhītāḥ) - afraid; प्राद्रवन्त (prādravanta) - they ran; दिशः (diśaḥ) - to the directions; भयात् (bhayāt) - out of fear;]
(Thus, being destroyed, and humans, O lord of men, intent on self-preservation, afraid, they ran to the directions out of fear.)
Thus, O lord of men, as they were being destroyed, the humans, intent on saving themselves and terrified, fled in all directions out of fear. (03-100-12)
केचिद्गुहाः प्रविविशुर्निर्झरांश्चापरे श्रिताः। अपरे मरणोद्विग्ना भयात्प्रानान्समुत्सृजन्॥०३-१००-१३॥
kecid guhāḥ praviviśur nirjharāṁś cāpare śritāḥ। apare maraṇodvignā bhayāt prānān samutsṛjan ॥03-100-13॥
[केचित् (केचिद्) (kecid) - some; गुहाः (guhāḥ) - caves; प्रविविशुः (praviviśuḥ) - entered; निर्झरान् (nirjharān) - waterfalls; च (ca) - and; अपरे (apare) - others; श्रिताः (śritāḥ) - had taken refuge; अपरे (apare) - others; मरणोद्विग्नाः (maraṇodvignāḥ) - distressed by fear of death; भयात् (bhayāt) - from fear; प्राणान् (prānān) - lives; समुत्सृजन् (samutsṛjan) - giving up;]
(Some entered caves, others had taken refuge in waterfalls, others, distressed by fear of death, from fear, giving up lives.)
Some entered caves, others took shelter at waterfalls, and others, frightened of death, gave up their lives out of fear. (03-100-13)
केचिदत्र महेष्वासाः शूराः परमदर्पिताः। मार्गमाणाः परं यत्नं दानवानां प्रचक्रिरे ॥०३-१००-१४॥
kecid atra maheṣvāsāḥ śūrāḥ paramadarpitāḥ। mārgamāṇāḥ paraṃ yatnaṃ dānavānāṃ pracakrire॥03-100-14॥
[केचित् (kecit) - some; अत्र (atra) - here; महेष्वासाः (maheṣvāsāḥ) - great archers; शूराः (śūrāḥ) - heroes; परमदर्पिताः (paramadarpitāḥ) - extremely proud; मार्गमाणाः (mārgamāṇāḥ) - seeking; परम् (param) - supreme; यत्नम् (yatnam) - effort; दानवानाम् (dānavānām) - of the demons; प्रचक्रिरे (pracakrire) - performed;]
(Some here, great archers, heroes, exceedingly proud, seeking supreme effort of the demons, performed.)
Some great archers here, heroes who were extremely proud, made the utmost effort in seeking out the demons. (03-100-14)
न चैतानधिजग्मुस्ते समुद्रं समुपाश्रितान्। श्रमं जग्मुश्च परममाजग्मुः क्षयमेव च ॥०३-१००-१५॥
na caitān adhijagmus te samudraṃ samupāśritān। śramaṃ jagmuś ca paramam ājagmuḥ kṣayam eva ca॥03-100-15॥
[न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; एतान् (etān) - these (ones); अधिजग्मुः (adhijagmuḥ) - attained (to); ते (te) - they; समुद्रं (samudram) - ocean; समुपाश्रितान् (samupāśritān) - who had taken refuge (at, i.e. reached); श्रमं (śramam) - fatigue; जग्मुः (jagmuḥ) - reached; च (ca) - and; परमम् (paramam) - greatest; आजग्मुः (ājagmuḥ) - they attained; क्षयम् (kṣayam) - destruction; एव (eva) - indeed; च (ca) - and;]
(Not and these attained they ocean who had taken refuge. Fatigue reached and greatest they attained destruction indeed and.)
They did not attain those who had reached the ocean; instead, they experienced fatigue, and they indeed met with ultimate destruction. (03-100-15)
जगत्युपशमं याते नष्टयज्ञोत्सवक्रिये। आजग्मुः परमामार्तिं त्रिदशा मनुजेश्वर ॥०३-१००-१६॥
jagaty-upaśamaṁ yāte naṣṭa-yajñotsava-kriye. ājagmuḥ paramām ārtiṁ tridaśā manu-jeshvara ॥03-100-16॥
[जगति (jagati) - on earth; उपशमं (upaśamam) - cessation; याते (yāte) - having occurred; नष्टयज्ञोत्सवक्रिये (naṣṭa-yajña-utsava-kriye) - the rituals and festivals of sacrifice destroyed; आजग्मुः (ājagmuḥ) - came; परमाम् (paramām) - supreme; आर्तिं (ārtim) - distress; त्रिदशाः (tridaśāḥ) - the gods; मनुजेश्वर (manujeśvara) - O king of men;]
(On earth, when cessation occurred and the rituals and festivals of sacrifice were destroyed, the gods came, supreme distress (having), O king of men.)
O king of men, when on earth the rituals and festivals of sacrifice had ceased and been destroyed, the gods came in utmost distress. (03-100-16)
समेत्य समहेन्द्राश्च भयान्मन्त्रं प्रचक्रिरे। नारायणं पुरस्कृत्य वैकुण्ठमपराजितम् ॥०३-१००-१७॥
sametya samahendrāś ca bhayān mantraṃ pracakrire. nārāyaṇaṃ puraskṛtya vaikuṇṭham aparājitam ॥03-100-17॥
[समेत्य (sametya) - having come together; समहेन्द्राः (samahendrāḥ) - the divine Indras (chiefs of gods); च (ca) - and; भयान् (bhayān) - due to fear; मन्त्रम् (mantram) - counsel; प्रचक्रिरे (pracakrire) - performed; नारायणम् (nārāyaṇam) - Nārāyaṇa; पुरस्कृत्य (puraskṛtya) - having placed in the front; वैकुण्ठम् (vaikuṇṭham) - Vaikuṇṭha; अपराजितम् (aparājitam) - unconquered;]
(Having come together, the divine Indras and others, due to fear, performed counsel. Having placed Nārāyaṇa, Vaikuṇṭha, unconquered, in the front.)
Having assembled, the divine Indras and others, out of fear, held counsel, placing the unconquered Nārāyaṇa Vaikuṇṭha at the forefront. (03-100-17)
ततो देवाः समेतास्ते तदोचुर्मधुसूदनम्। त्वं नः स्रष्टा च पाता च भर्ता च जगतः प्रभो ॥ त्वया सृष्टमिदं सर्वं यच्चेङ्गं यच्च नेङ्गति ॥०३-१००-१८॥
tato devāḥ sametās te tadocur madhusūdanam। tvaṃ naḥ sraṣṭā ca pātā ca bhartā ca jagataḥ prabho ॥ tvayā sṛṣṭam idaṃ sarvaṃ yac ceṅgaṃ yac ca neṅgati ॥03-100-18॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; देवाः (devāḥ) - the gods; समेताः (sametāḥ) - assembled; ते (te) - they; तद्-ऊचुः (tad-ūcuḥ) - then spoke; मधुसूदनम् (madhusūdanam) - to Madhusūdana; त्वम् (tvam) - you; नः (naḥ) - our; स्रष्टा (sraṣṭā) - creator; च (ca) - and; पाता (pātā) - protector; च (ca) - and; भर्ता (bhartā) - sustainer; च (ca) - and; जगतः (jagataḥ) - of the world; प्रभो (prabho) - O Lord; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; सृष्टम् (sṛṣṭam) - created; इदम् (idam) - this; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; यत् (yat) - whatever; च (ca) - and; इङ्गम् (iṅgam) - moves; यत् (yat) - whatever; च (ca) - and; न (na) - not; इङ्गति (iṅgati) - moves;]
(Then the gods, assembled, they then spoke to Madhusūdana: "You are our creator and protector and sustainer of the world, O Lord. By you, this all has been created, whatever moves and whatever does not move." (03-100-18))

त्वया भूमिः पुरा नष्टा समुद्रात्पुष्करेक्षण। वाराहं रूपमास्थाय जगदर्थे समुद्धृता ॥०३-१००-१९॥
tvayā bhūmiḥ purā naṣṭā samudrāt puṣkarekṣaṇa। vārāhaṃ rūpam āsthāya jagad-arthe samuddhṛtā ॥03-100-19॥
[त्वया (tvayā) - by you; भूमिः (bhūmiḥ) - earth; पुरा (purā) - formerly; नष्टा (naṣṭā) - lost; समुद्रात् (samudrāt) - from the ocean; पुष्करेक्षण (puṣkarekṣaṇa) - O lotus-eyed one; वाराहं (vārāham) - boar; रूपम् (rūpam) - form; आस्थाय (āsthāya) - assuming; जगत्-अर्थे (jagat-arthe) - for the sake of the world; समुद्धृता (samuddhṛtā) - was lifted up;]
(By you, the earth, formerly lost, from the ocean, O lotus-eyed one, having assumed the form of a boar, for the sake of the world, was lifted up.)
O lotus-eyed one, in former times, you, assuming the form of a boar, lifted up the earth, which was lost in the ocean, for the sake of the world. (03-100-19)
आदिदैत्यो महावीर्यो हिरण्यकशिपुस्त्वया। नारसिंहं वपुः कृत्वा सूदितः पुरुषोत्तम ॥०३-१००-२०॥
ā-didaityaḥ mahā-vīryaḥ hiraṇyakaśipuḥ tvayā. nāra-siṃhaṃ vapuḥ kṛtvā sūditaḥ puruṣottama ॥03-100-20॥

(The primeval Daitya of great energy, Hiraṇyakaśipu, by you, the man-lion form having assumed, was slain, O best of men.)
O best of men, the primeval Daitya of great power, Hiraṇyakaśipu, was slain by you after assuming the form of the Man-Lion. (03-100-20)
अवध्यः सर्वभूतानां बलिश्चापि महासुरः। वामनं वपुराश्रित्य त्रैलोक्याद्भ्रंशितस्त्वया ॥०३-१००-२१॥
avadhyaḥ sarvabhūtānāṁ baliścāpi mahāsuraḥ। vāmanaṁ vapurāśritya trailokyādbhraṁśitastvayā ॥03-100-21॥
[अवध्यः (avadhyaḥ) - not to be slain; सर्वभूतानां (sarvabhūtānāṁ) - of all beings; बलिः (baliḥ) - Bali; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; महासुरः (mahāsuraḥ) - the great asura; वामनं (vāmanaṁ) - Vāmana (the dwarf); वपुः (vapuḥ) - form; आश्रित्य (āśritya) - having assumed; त्रैलोक्यात् (trailokyāt) - from the three worlds; भ्रंशितः (bhraṁśitaḥ) - deprived; त्वया (tvayā) - by you;]
(Not to be slain of all beings, Bali also, the great asura, Vāmana form having assumed, from the three worlds deprived by you.)
Bali, the great asura, who was invincible to all beings, was deprived of the three worlds by you after you assumed the form of Vāmana. (03-100-21)
असुरश्च महेष्वासो जम्भ इत्यभिविश्रुतः। यज्ञक्षोभकरः क्रूरस्त्वयैव विनिपातितः ॥०३-१००-२२॥
asuraś ca maheṣvāso jambha ity abhiviśrutaḥ। yajñakṣobhakaraḥ krūras tvayaiva vinipātitaḥ॥03-100-22॥
[असुरः (asuraḥ) - demon; च (ca) - and; महेष्वासः (maheṣvāsaḥ) - great archer; जम्भः (jambhaḥ) - Jambha (proper name); इति (iti) - thus; अभिविश्रुतः (abhiviśrutaḥ) - well-renowned; यज्ञक्षोभकरः (yajñakṣobhakaraḥ) - disturber of sacrifice; क्रूरः (krūraḥ) - cruel; त्वया एव (tvayā eva) - by you alone; विनिपातितः (vinipātitaḥ) - was slain;]
(And the demon, the great archer, well-renowned as 'Jambha', the disturber of sacrifices, the cruel one, by you alone was slain.)
And the demon called Jambha, who was a great archer, notorious as a cruel disturber of sacrifices, was indeed slain by you. (03-100-22)
एवमादीनि कर्माणि येषां सङ्ख्या न विद्यते। अस्माकं भयभीतानां त्वं गतिर्मधुसूदन ॥०३-१००-२३॥
evam-ādīni karmāṇi yeṣāṃ saṅkhyā na vidyate। asmākaṃ bhayabhītānāṃ tvaṃ gatir madhusūdana॥03-100-23॥
[एवमादीनि (evam-ādīni) - such and similar; etc.; कर्माणि (karmāṇi) - actions; येषां (yeṣāṃ) - of whom; सङ्ख्या (saṅkhyā) - enumeration; न (na) - not; विद्यते (vidyate) - is; exists; अस्माकं (asmākaṃ) - of us; भयभीतानां (bhayabhītānāṃ) - of the fearful; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; गतिः (gatiḥ) - refuge; मधुसूदन (madhusūdana) - O Madhusūdana;]
(Such and similar actions, of whom enumeration does not exist. Of us the fearful, you are the refuge, O Madhusūdana.)
O Madhusūdana, for those whose actions like these cannot be enumerated, you are the refuge for us who are terrified. (03-100-23)
तस्मात्त्वां देव देवेश लोकार्थं ज्ञापयामहे। रक्ष लोकांश्च देवांश्च शक्रं च महतो भयात् ॥०३-१००-२४॥
tasmāttvāṃ deva deveśa lokārthaṃ jñāpayāmahe। rakṣa lokāṃśca devāṃśca śakraṃ ca mahato bhayāt॥03-100-24॥
[तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; देव (deva) - O god; देवेश (deveśa) - O lord of gods; लोकार्थम् (lokārtham) - for the sake of the worlds; ज्ञापयामहे (jñāpayāmahe) - we inform; रक्ष (rakṣa) - protect; लोकान् (lokān) - worlds; च (ca) - and; देवान् (devān) - gods; च (ca) - and; शक्रम् (śakram) - Indra; च (ca) - and; महतः (mahataḥ) - from great; भयात् (bhayāt) - fear;]
(Therefore you, O god, O lord of gods, for the sake of the worlds we inform. Protect the worlds and the gods and Indra from great fear.)
Therefore, O god, O lord of gods, we inform you for the sake of the worlds. Protect the worlds, the gods, and Indra from great fear. (03-100-24)
